"Its blurry at times" I grew up knowing practically every line from every episode. I am disappointed in this DVD collection because so many of the episodes are terribly blurry at times. The opening of "A Piece of the Action" shows the Enterprise bouncing from white to gray...etc. Its weird. At times, the quality is marvelous...other times...its bad!!
"Star Trek season 2 DVD is fantastic!" Star Trek Season 2 DVD set is fantastic! This is great Star Trek DVD set to own! You have the original cast in their younger days back in the 1960s! William Shatner is Captain James T. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy is First Officer Mr. Spock, Deforest Kelly as Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy and the rest of the original cast! Some of the great episodes in Star Trek Season 2 are Amok Time, The Domesday Machine, Mirror, Mirror, Journey to Babel, The Trouble with Tribbles, The Ultimate Computer, and Assignment: Earth! Mirror, Mirror is one of my favorite episodes of Star Trek: TOS! Buy it! Highest Possible Recommendation!
"The REAL Star Trek (instead of soap operas)" It's nice to be able to watch the original Star Trek series. The "Second Generation" bored me to death. It was like a science fiction soap opera. The original series had far more variety, action, and clever innovative plots. It also had a good bit of humor. The Second Generation seemed to be all about "inner space" (What's going on inside your head? How do you FEEL about something, etc.) It seemed to be pitched to the interests of women. (I can feel the feminists coming off the walls already. Oh well - tough!) I find a good face-off with the Klingons far more entertaining than someone's inner conflict. In summary, I found the product enjoyable and I can even see the episodes I missed. I now have all three seasons.
"Star Trek: Season 2" Perhaps the best season of the best show ever produced for television, season 2 offers some of the finest episodes of the entire series including: AMOK TIME, A PRIVATE LITTLE WAR, THE CHANGELING, THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE, WOLF IN THE FOLD among many others. A classic show for fans of intelligent television of any age.
"I never received the item" I suppose that TOS (Series II) is a good watch. But, I wouldn't know for sure because I never received the item from the seller. And, he/she said that they would refund my money, but have yet to do so. That was a week ago (Jan 14), well over a month ago when I bought the item (about two weeks before Christmas).
Oh well. Let the buyer beware!

What our customer's say!
"Star Trek Original Series Season 2", Received item quickly as usual for items bought from Amazon. This item completes the set of three(1st season-yellow,3rd season-red). At just under $60 shipped to my door, this is easily half the price of buying the same thing in one of the big retailers. I love this item as I do the other two seasons. Excellent quality that will last forever.
"Star Trek Season Two", This is a must have for loyal Trek fans. The second season is hard to find in stores. Also, they have changed the packaging, so, if you want this nicely packaged set, buy soon as quantities are already getting low. The additional featurettes and insights are enlightening. No Star Trek Collection is complete without The Original Series Season Two.
"The Best It Has To Offer", The Second Season of Star Trek: The Original Series picks up right where the first season left off in terms of mind-bending plotlines and rousing action/adventure. Without the feeling-out period that all TV shows need in order to find their correct footing, this Second Season provided the most compelling drama of the entire show. Highlights include:
Amok Time: When Spock begins acting strange, Kirk brings him back to the Vulcan home world and discovers a special ritual that may have deadly consequences.
Mirror, Mirror: During an intense electrical storm, certain members of the Enterprise crew are transported to an alternate dimension, where the Enterprise is ruled by an iron fist.
Wolf In The Fold: When Chief Engineer Scotty is accused of muder on an alien planet, the Enterprise crew uncover the real killer (a chilling episode).
The Trouble With Tribbles: A hilarious script that lightens the mood of an otherwise tense show.
The Ultimate Computer: The ultimate maverick, Kirk, matches wits with the ultimate computer that technology can build.
To conclude, for viewers of the first season, the Second Season of Star Trek: TOS will not disappoint you.
"The best Star Trek season (of this or any other ST series)", Season 2 saw the full maturation of the Star Trek franchise. Gone are the awkward feeling-out episodes and the plain bad/boring episodes of the first season (e.g. "Charlie X", although "The Changeling" is pretty bad). Also gone is the awkward broadcast schedule, where uniforms and cast members appeared to change because the shows were broadcast in an apparently random order relative to their filming dates. In full flower is the Star Trek Triumvirate of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy - Spock representing cold logic (the ego?), McCoy emotional humanity (id?), and Kirk balancing the two with action (superego?). The addition of Chekov as the last "main character" of the Original Series crew is also welcome.
With the rise of stories revolving around the Triumvirate, there is an inevitable diminution of secondary character interactions. That's not to say that Scotty, Uhura, et al. are not given ample screen time in some episodes (e.g. Scotty's murder trial in "Wolf in the Fold"), but we don't have many interactions between them - e.g. Sulu and Rand discussing fencing, or Uhura singing in the officer's mess. That's a minor quibble, of course, as the season is rich in fantastic and varies episodes. There are some outright comedies ("I, Mudd" doesn't work, but "Trouble with Tribbles" and "A Piece of the Action" both routinely appear at the tops of lists of favourite episode votes).
Other reviews have listed the episodes for the season, but I will give a partial list of highlights, divided by classic Trek themes:
1. Comedy episodes: - The Trouble with Tribbles: insatiable purring furballs infest the Enterprise while docked at a space station is disputed space. The Klingons pay a visit and further chaos ensues. - A Piece of the Action: cultural contamination by a survey ship 100 years easrlier creates a culture based on 1930's Chicago mobs. Kirk and Spock attempt to redirect the course of the planetary evolution. Contains the a memorable line uttered by Mr. Spock in a mob accent: "I'd advise yez to keep dialing" (the phone). In a recent straw poll in the local newspaper, this episode was voted "best Trek episode" of all time.
2. Prime Directive episodes - The aforementioned A Piece of the Action - Patterns of Force - an historian recreates Nazi Germany on a planet at war with a neighbour
3. Alien Culture - Amok Time and Journey to Babel - the former dealing with Vulcan mating rituals, the latter with the Father-Son relationship between Sarek and Spock. - Friday's Child - the Klingons and Federation fight over mining rights on a pre-technological world
4. Transporter/holodeck/technology malfunction - Mirror, Mirror - a transporter accident sends Kirk, Uhura, McCoy, and Scotty into an alternate universe where their counterparts are genocidal empire-builders.
5. Threat to all life in the galaxy/universe - Doomsday Machine - The USS Constellation's crew are killed by a giant superweapon, and Kirk and the Constellation's captain must figure out how to destroy it. - Obsession - a gaseous entity that eats red blood cells (thus killing its victim) is encountered. We learn that Kirk's first landing party command was destroyed by this same creature.
The final great episode of Season 2 doesn't easily fit into a standard Trek category, and that is "Wolf in the Fold", where Scotty is charged with the multiple murders of women on a shore-leave planet. It was written by Theodore Sturgeon, who also penned "Psycho".
There are extras on this disc, and they are quite good. I would have liked to have seen more text commentaries by the Okudas, and would really like to have heard some audio commentaries by the actors (both Nimoy and Shatner gave good commentaries on the ST films they directed). There are interviews with Nimoy discussing his photography career, Nichelle Nicholls on the origins of Uhura's name, and writer D.C. Fontana on the writing process, for just a few examples. Now that the price of these series have come down to more affordable levels (they were originally $100 each!), they are worth the money to see the stories uninterrupted by ads and uncut for syndication.
"Out of Order", Although it is real nice having the set in one package, it is a shame that they did not have the foresight to think we might want to watch them in the order they were numbered, i.e. episode 2 before 3, 3 before 4, 4 before 5, etc. They are on the disks in air date order, which is not the correct order, if you want to watch in actual order, you must juggle between disks. Wait to purchase until the idiots at Paramount get it right. Maybe this is why sales were not so good and went from $129 - $199 per season to less than $40.00 per season.

"A great gift for any trekkie fan!", It is great! Along with the epsodes you also get a great interview with Leonard Nimoy!
"A treasure of knowledge", Star Trek shall forever remain a visionary and highly intelligent series. It provides a treasure of knowledge and insight. Would highly recommend acquiring this series, especially if you have a family. We regularly watch the episodes offered and have become... real fans of Star Trek. Would highly recommend acquiring the collection.
"Star Trek Origianl Series/2nd Season", This was a great season and it is just was good as the first season...I love it...If you are a Star Trek fan this is something that you should add to your collection.....
"2nd season of a great series", The 2nd season continued with great moral stories and continued to build on the characters and great lines. "His Dead Jim", "Bones" and many others.
Again, last disk with Special Features with interviews I enjoyed very much on discussing about the inner workings of the 2nd season.
I will continue to watch Star Trek for years to come.
"Return To Tommorow", Return to Tommorow contains a number of bizarre and difficult twists. The Enterprise mysteriously navigates to an uninhabited world. An evil energy being called Sargon notifies Kirk that the Enterprise has been brought his planet by the "energy of his thoughts". Spock is befuddled, at the fact, no life signs register, on his equipment and makes Sargon seem like does not exist. Spock continues to talk with the non-existent being. Spock says, "not even a Vulcan can know the unknown." No Vulcan communicate with an unknown being! Purely illogical!
Beware of Spocks logic! It is interesting how many times Spock is depicted as the personification of evil, yet the loyal viewers are sensibilities are being constantly betrayed into believing Spock is a upright character. I personally question the moral integrity of Spock.
Kirk learns that Sargon is dead. Sargon tells Kirk that "all of mankind must perish too", if they let Sargon perish. It seems that Kirk is forced to act against his will. Sargon can demonstrate control over the ship computers, and power. This power convinces Spock not to resist Sargons plans and allows an evil influences over Spock.
Spock readily agrees that Sargon is no force to resist. Spock tells Kirk that the surface of the planet is devoid of life and that he has discovered energy readings deep inside the planet, a 112.7 miles through solid rock. Furthermore, Spock conjectures that Sargon is "matter without form". Energy and matter can not exist in the same state. It is either one or the other. All matter has form. Therefore, Spocks conclusions are a lie, an untrue and ridiculous conclusion. Spock misleds Kirk into trusting Sargon. Spock attempts to mystifies Sargon into a incorporeal being of immense power.
Sargon must tell his story, a story of fallen grace. Sargon boasts that 6,000 centuries ago Sargon's race colonized the planet and suddenly an ultimate crisis emerged, "our minds became so powerful, we dare think of ourselves as Gods."
Isaiah parallels Lucifer fall, a son of the Morning, an angel, who thought to ascend to the level of the Gods. The evil one had Aspirations of self-grandeur and forced inclusion into the membership in the council of Gods; his following was cast out; and the rebellious deception led 1/3 of the host from grace.
Sargon for half a million years remained without a body along with his followers. Sargon tells Kirk that those choose too survived were the best minds. Sargon tells that landing crew that their race planted space children and the half million-year wait was required for their children evolved, explored space, and find them. Therefore, Sargon considered himself their father calling the Enterprise members "his children". Why should the Enterprise believe Sargon's claim was true? There was not evidence to believe Sargon claims were true.
Sargon takes possession of Kirks body, imprisoning Kirks mind inside the energy sphere. The transfer could only be temporary and it was dangerous enough that Kirk almost died twice. Kirk says, "I know what he wants and I don't fear him". Kirk should have never freely agreed to the transfer. A morally superior being would have let the Enterprise depart. Instead, Sargon forces Kirk, Spock, and Ann Mulhall into an manipulate transfer agreement. Kirk and particular Spock are baited into believing that Sargon will provide vast transfers of knowledge allowing humanity to advance 10,000 years, saying things like, "risk is our business". Sargon and Felicia complete their transfer and Sargon says, "I had forgotten what it felt like even to breath".
Almost as soon as transfer is completed then evil motives surfaces and Henoch plots to keep the bodies. Henoch alters the metabolic formula for Sargon believing he and Kirk would die and not be able to be transferred back into the sphere. The plot seemingly works: Sargon appears to have died, McCoy puts Kirks body on life support, Henoch destroys Spocks sphere, Sargon transfers to the Enterprise, Henoch dies, Spock is transfer from Ms Chapel back into his body, and Sargon and Felicia disappear into oblivion. Sargon offered humanity nothing. Sargon was cast out into darkeness where there is no light.
Sargon transfer Spock energy into Ms Chapel and they shared consciousness. Spock technically should have made Ms Chapel his wife according the rituals of the Pan Farr. A technical oversight or misleading deception avoided by Spock, who preferred to marry a Vulcan betrothed wife. Ms Chapel should have been the wife of Spock by Vulcan law, thanks to Sargon. Now that logic Spock should have followed.
