"Response to Steven Rea's Comments", 1. NutriGenie only accepts returns of unopened software. Even Amazon itself doesn't accept returns of opened software or music CD, DVDs or similar goods. Merchants on Amazon are required to have description of their return & shipping policies. Ours are clearly stated on Amazon as well as at our website. In addition, we advise potential customers to download the free trial software for evaluation before buying. The trial software, in almost all respects, works exactly as the full version. The key difference is that it has a smaller sample food database instead of the complete database.

2. It's true that it usually takes a little bit of time to figure out how our software works. A power user can immediately takes advantage of it while a novice computer user will need to read the manual.

"Buyer Beware", I bought this product hoping for something easy to use. While Nutigenie does have many applications the software is anything but that. When I e-mailed them to ask if I could obtain a refund because their product was more complex than I wanted they refused. If you're willing to sit down and study to use this program then im sure it will work great, but to those of us who want something we can implement right away don't waste your $60 on this.

"Excellent nutrition software", For over 3 months now, our medical center uses Optimal Nutrition to help patients with weight control, diabetic diet, etc. There are many things we like about Optimal Nutrition but the two best features are its auto menu generator and diet star rating. I won't repeat the description of these features except to say that they are unique and great time saver.
With regard to another reviewer's comment on errors in the database and questionable government RDA standards, I know that their database is from the USDA and their nutrition standards include the 2002 guidelines from the Institute of Medicine. Might it be that the reviewer's database is inaccurate and his own nutrition practice questionable? Compare any nutrient tables from different sources and you will see some small differences in data values. There will always be fad diets and there will always be debates about nutrition guidelines. It's unsophisticated not to know these fundamental facts about one's own field.
