"THIS GAME IS OKAY, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CARS?" If you like cars, this is the game for you. Buy it! You won't be disapointed, I wasn't. The few things that this game didn't include was the CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK option. This is not a very good thing, partially because the standard music is really bad, and that the songs repeat over, and over, and over, and over, and... well you get the picture. The second thing that I didn't like about NSFU2 was that there wasn't a great selection of cars in the Xbox version. Once you get to Level 2, the guidebook says that you will get an Audi TT, a Hummer H2, and many other cars. When I reached Level 2, all I got was the basic cars (Honda Civic, Mazda Miata, etc.) and an Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. HUH?! When I got to the shop and looked at the prices for the car parts, I nearly fainted. They were way more money then any pro-gamer could accumulate during 3 hours of play. Well, then there is the sense of speed. What is this all about!? The cars (not including the Miata) were very slow.
I eventually beat the game, but it took me a long time. Usually games take about 8 hours of playtime to complete, but this took months! If you are a hard-core gamer who wants a really cool racing game, this is definitly not the game for you. This game should really be sold to five year olds!
Glich in NFSU2: When you are on the main highway, go into the other lane and drive there for awhile without getting off the exit ramps. You soon will notice that there are no cars in your lane or the other lanes.
"Driven To Speed" I always have been in the mood for all different kinds of video games, but the most excited I actually feel over are the fast and furious racing games. While there have been some great games like Mario Kart and the wild San Francisco Rush from the arcade days, I definitely have been becoming a big fan of the Need For Speed franchise. The game series definitely has delivered for gamers young and old like the pursuiting of the police in Hot Pursuit 2, and the recently well-received conjured Most Wanted. While the thrill of the chase has been outrageous, the deep souls of the street racing underground has been kind of a surprise to me.
Need For Speed Underground 2 for the Xbox really does deliver all the way. The game showcases you as a up and coming underground racer, trying to work your way through the undergound world of Bayview. The game highlights a mind-boggling 100 different tracks to unlock and play around with, from circuit races like the close and quick-driven Street X, traditional circuits and challenging drift races where it you have to score not by getting first place but by getting the best sliding successful drifts, all the way to exciting and wild point-to-point sprints and even the returning tests of the fierce drag races.
In the game, you also can unlock great cars like the Subaru Impreza WRX, the sleek Mazda RX-7, and the wicked classic Ford Mustang. It the game, it is not just vital to unlock cars, it is also vital to remodel them into fierce racers with customized parts like bmpers, soilers and tire rims. While the game does deliver, there are a few disadvantages to Need For Speed Underground 2. One of them is that it takes a little while to find your way in each way, and that can be very tricky at times for unlocking races like downhill drifts and the tight-wheeled Underground Racing League courses. Another one is that the story line in the game looks as if it has came out of a comic book, and not realy to where any of the characters are just talking directly to you. Nevertheless, it doesn't make a difference in the gameplay.
All in all, Need For Speed is a really wild game. At first, I considered rejecting the game because I had a tough time with the original Need For Speed Underground, but I was wrong. Need For Speed Underground 2 is a real must buy for Xbox owners. If you don't have this game for your Xbox, you don't really know what you're missing from the fireceness of the underground streets.

"Fun Game....Useless Story Line" Overall, NFSU2 is a fun game. This game packs plenty of customization, open ended game play, decent soundtrack, and good graphics. Oh yeah, there is aslo some racing, which there are various types of racing. Also there is a range of difficulty; some races are easy to win, while others may take a few attempts to win. This could have easily been a five star game, but for some unknown reason, NFSU2 also includes several cut scenes that features a comic book style story line that does nothing to enhance the game in anyway at all. In fact, I thought the story line took away from the overall enjoyment of the game. The good news about the story line is that you can skip it with a press of a button. I would suggest using the button very strongly, unless you have a dissapointment fetish, skip it, because there is no payoff for sitting through it. I learned that the hard way. One other flaw of the game, there is a ton of product placement, but unlike the story line, it doesn't really have an imact on the gameplay.
"Better Graphics than the 1st" It's not easy pleasing the eye of gamers especially me. I like the graphics and thought they were better than the 1st game. I got the one off of PS2. I'm just writing a review about it. This game is exciting that you get to race with other cars, sometimes get confused because some person might have the same type car. I like the different cars and designing them, but still have to unlock some of the decals and paints and other cars once you go into the career mode. And you get money, wish that was in my wallet. Although, they have SUVS that are in the game like the Lincoln Navigator, Hummer H2, and the Escalade. This is a game to make you play like you're in the Fast and the Furious, but not to be like the movie. And I'm sure this is the game for gamers to feel the adrenaline rush or otherwise, more movies from the Fast and the Furious. I guess. I like the airport mode, which is funny in the game, but looks realistic. The thing is I enjoyed playing the game and it gives me the adrenaline rush while playing it.
"A definite must whether you like racing or blinging cars" This game is packed with so much cool stuff, all the real cars and accesories. The gameplay is excellent, and the cars are on point. Great graphics! There should be a little more goal oriented things, and they definitely need to involve Brooke Burke some more, or someone else if she's not doing NFSU 3. Perhaps some actual footage of the hostess? Still, this game is a hot one.

What our customer's say!
"this game...", this game kinda blows. There must be like six songs that play throughout the entire game and none of them are good. Gameplay is kinda weak, but I'm not really into that whole fast and furious crap. I didn't keep this one for long.
"Late.", Although the game is good I did not like the length of time that it got here. It was 4 days late. Game is awesome.
"Terrible graphics, Terrible multi-player experience", The Gamestop store in Boston was giving this away for free, and now I know why. This NFS game is a complete letdown. Why, you ask? Here's why:
1. Graphics are third-rate You can go crash into a wall, but your car doesnt show as much as a scratch. So much for believable racing.
2. Multi-player option is a big letdown. For namesake you can play multiplayer, but wait till you play to see how far the game goes. Crashes everytime I play it.
3. Tracks: the music tracks are horrible. Nothing novel.
If you really want a good experience, I would highly recommend Burnout Revenge. Way better than this nonsense.
"Need for Speed", Bought this for my son, he loves it. Uses it all the time. No complaints from either of us.
"Good Clean Fun", If you are a classic XBox owner, this game is a must have. From the drift races to the drag races to the sprints and circuits, this game (other than graphics) is much better than any Need For Speed game since. Pick it up here on Amazon, you can get it cheap. Hours and hours of fun!!

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Get some bling-bling and buy it!", Is it me or do i hear a street car? Yeah, you know what i'm talkin' about. NFSU2 truely leaves other games in the dust. Come on, I read other reviews and a guy killing his grandma? That's just sick! Now that's out, i want to discuss things about the game. ONE: who hates a game with street racing? TWO: The music is perfect but they should had Metallica's Fuel. That song fits perfect. THREE: the cars, are... PERFECT!!! the cars can be upgraded to "Kickin' *** and taken' names" cars. Take that car for example, do a little this and that, and you got a car that can kill, murder and maul other cars. I just hope NFSU 3 has motorcycles in it. Ya' hear me EA? You know what I said. One final thing to talk abut is the city, races and Brooke Burke. The city is BIG and i mean BIG!!!! The races are sweet. Drag forever. Brooke Burke is HOTT! Dang! Just buy the game before i go crazy. I'm known to go crazy. Overall Rating: 10,000 out of 10. I recommend it.
"good but with a few flaws", This game is pretty fun overall, but it has some major flaws that need to be addressed. The career mode is cool, because you're not just racing but there is actually a story and you have to win races to get better cars and upgrades. The racing is pretty good too, realistic as far as braking and acceleration go. Flaws: some of the cars just dont drive like they are supposed to. This is especially evident with the AI. It seems like no matter what car the AI is using, its as fast as a Ferrari sometimes, and as slow as an SUV at others. For example, at one point I was driving an Audi TT, racing against a small, POS Peugeot, yet somehow the latter out-accelerated, and out-handled me. It seemed to be able to do extremely tight turns without losing an speed. Not realistic. Second major flaw is that some of the cars just don't drive the way they do in real life. For example, the Nissan 350Z in the game, while fast and one of the better cars, doesn't drive like a real Z. The tail of the car is all over the place no matter how you tune the car. It doesn't drive like that in real life. The Mitsubishi EVO does drive like that in real life, yet in the game the tail of the car goes nowhere. Overall a pretty good game.
"Solid arcade racer, but misses in many small areas", When my sister decided to rent this game from Blockbuster last week, I thought that this game wasn't going to be anything special (since I am not a big fan of EA anyway). I wasn't really excited when she came home and popped the game into the Xbox (which disturbed me from my Halo 2 playing experience by the way), so I left that particular room and let her enjoy her rental for the night. After leaving it shelved for a couple of days and a losing streak in Halo 2's "Big Team Battle", I decided to give NFS:U2 a chance.
When I popped the disk into the Xbox, I decided to first enter the career mode that this game offered. What I first got was a taste of the speed that was to come (if I decided to press on) as I raced from the airport to a car lot. What I got when I got there was pretty much where the speed ended. When you first enter the car lot, you are stuck with a handful of low-end stock cars. Luckily, you get the first car for free (and several others for free as well when you get a sponsor).
When I chose my car and left to enter the streets of Bayview, I decided to cruise around the city for a bit (to get comfortable to where everything was, etc.). When I cruised around the city, besides the fact that my car stunk and there is a corporate logo on all the time I am in cruise mode (which I will get to later), driving wasn't that bad. The graphics were solid, there were a decent assortment of real-life stores and billboards (Burger King, Cingular, and Best Buy were the most noticeable, since they probably coughed up the most money to be in the game), and there was a good deal of pavement to drive on.
One minor irk I noticed in the beginning was that some of the areas that are raceable were barred off from me, therefore leaving me with a smaller space to cruise around in. Another irk that I noticed was that you have to find all of the Performance, Graphics, Specialty, and Detail shops by yourself to unlock all of the goodies that you can put in and on your car. And even then, a good deal of things are still locked away until you progress thorugh the game (who was the genius that thought this one up?).
In itself, the racing in the game is solid. As expected by me, NFS:U2 is an arcade racer which relies more on top speed and the overall performance of the car than the anticipation of a turn and working on your car setup to maximize race performance in certain situations (even though you can tweak you car on a test course). For an arcade racer, NFS:U2 holds it's own and executes its gameplay well.
As for the number of races that you can do, there is a good deal of depth in this game. The racing modes are: Circuit (A closed race which involves several laps... and the laps are pretty long), Sprint (follow a course to an end point), Drift (garner the most points while performing drifts), Drag (a race on a usually flat and straight piece of pavement), Street X (Race on a track with tight turns and short straightaways), Outrun (Race another AI driver to see who can get 1000 feet ahead of the other driver with some "bank" at stake, and U.R.L, which is the Underground Racing League (race on real tracks with different patterns). As you can see, a nice selection is at your fingertips.
The only problems with the in-game are that it seems to rain EVERY. SINGLE. RACE. The rain effects are nice (Kudos to the graphics department), but when it rains in every Circuit, U.R.L., and Sprint race, it gets aggrevating after a while. Thanks to this, I tend to think that Bayview is no more than a fictitious Seattle.
Another problem with the racing is that the racing seems a bit too "arcadey" at times. It is "arcadey" in the sense that there is an obvious catchup in the game (for both you and the computer opponents), in some cases it's easier to ride the wall instead of realistically turning, and there is no damage model in the game whatsoever. When you get into a head-on crash at over 100 MPH with oncoming traffic, I expect to have at least some damage. But when I do this, I have a realistic crash with real sounds, but there is no damage whatsoever to my or the other guy's car. Even for an arcade racer, this is unacceptable.
After the race, you are escorted back to the cruise mode where you are looking for the next race or the nearest specialty store to improve or stylize your "ride". And thus is where the next problem of NFS:U2 is. Some genius "black-suit" EA exec decided that you have to drive to a certain location (which is usually in some out-of-the-way place) in order to race in that event. This idea is poorly executed, as driving from one place to another is an arduous chore and can be highly confusing after a while, even with the GPS (which can sometimes ask you to do an almost full 180 at times to get there in the quickest way). And in some cases, one wrong turn will lead you to go a lot farther than you bargained for (this is highly evident in Jackson Heights).
Some other problems I noticed were that the game did not support custom soundtracks (kind of ironic that the game allows you to "trick out" your car yet you can't add on any tracks burned to your XBox).
The game also tries, almost desperately, to be "super hip" with all of the "hip young lingo" in the game. I do not want to hear my agent saying that my last race was "tight" and my "ride" needs to be "tricked out" in order to "score me some photo ops". If I wanted this, I'd watch MTV and gag myself with rerun after rerun of "Pimp my Ride". I know that they tried to get the "underground" feel of the game, but it seems the the script was written by several 13-year-old surburban white males with an unhealthy obsession with gangsta rap and "the streets". Probably not the case, but it seems that way.
Another problem is that there is product placement "up-the-wazoo" (this wasn't in the game, by the way). I'm not saying that all of the product placement is bad. I commend EA for securing the naming rights for a good deal of part manufacturers and automobiles. And I really don't mind the occasional billboard about Burger King and Best Buy here and there, but EA stepped over a fine line with having a Cingular logo plastered on the screen when I cruise around the city in my non-racing time. Okay, I know that it's business, Cingular ponied up the most money to put their rights on the game, and any developer will take another cash infusion to aid development costs, but a Cingular logo plastered on the screen and finding a hidden shop next to a Burger King don't have to do with underground racing.
In short, this game does it's job of being an arcade racer and does it well, but a few minor irks have dropped this game a star in my book, I would reccommend renting this game first to make sure that this is for you, if it is then buy it. If not, no harm to you.
"Same fast paced fun, same silly flaws", I loved the first NFS Underground because it was both more accessible than Gran Turismo (a fine game, but too frustrating and bland) and also that it conveyed the sense of speed better. Well, if you liked the first one, chances are you'll like the second. They improved on the first by streamlining the pre-race part of the game. Long gone are the endless menus that you had to wade through to get to a race, now you are in a free-roaming city with a PDA and GPS to guide you to your next race or the various performance or body shops around the city. The graphics are well done, there are tons of licensed upgrades for you to play with, and you can even customize the color of your brake calipers! Another welcome change is that you can now have more than one car. That's right, you don't have to be stuck with one car, pimp it out, only to have to get rid of it as you move up in class. You only have 5 spots in your garage, and they open up depending on your endorsement deals, so it's still a bit restricted.
On to the flaws of this game, which are basically carry-overs from the first Need for Speed Underground: 1. Locked Upgrades. Yep, they're back! For some mysterious reason, you can only install certain performance/visual upgrades at the start, and must progressively unlock them as you play the game. While I understand this as a gameplay decision, it is super-frustrating to have to wait to be able to buy better tires when you're flush with cash. The upgrades also feel... like they don't do much, which leads me to my next point: 2. Adaptive A.I. The other racers in this game never get too far ahead or let you get too far back. This is great at first because it is forgiving, but gets very frustrating because ultimately it doesn't reward good driving. You can drive flawlessly for 95% of the race, yet in the last half-mile or so, the guy behind you WILL come roaring back and more likely than not, take the lead from you. The rate of speed is absolutely ludicrous, the AI will make up a half mile of lost ground in mere seconds, which is really cheesy. 3. Unrealistic to a flaw. I LOVE the lack of realism in this game, because it is more fun than Gran Turismo or other "sim" racers. However, NFSU2 takes it a bit too far. You can drive a car into the wall, spin them out, only to have them pass you 10 seconds later. The AI drivers seem to have limitless nitrous boost, and can generally out-accelerate you regardless of your ride. 4. Upgrades have no impact. That is because the upgrades aren't a strategic choice on your part, but a requirement to go on. That's right, they are locked, then they are available and you can't really progress until you equip them. There is some noticeable difference (especially from stock to level 1 engine tweaks), but your opponents adapt as well, so it's not like you can bring a souped-up racer to a stock Honda Civic race. It makes for even competition, but again, doesn't reward shrewd racing or upgradeability. 5. It ALWAYS starts to rain at the end of the race. The rain effects are gorgeous, but it is so incredibly cheesy and predictable that it drives me nuts. About a half-mile before the finish, you'll hear thunder, the road will get slick, and lo and behold! You will spin out of control just in time for the CPU driver to pass you!
Overall this is still a fun game. I just wish that it were more rewarding and less arcadey in the aspects listed above. That said, it's a blast to create your ride from stock to pimpin', and the option to design the magazine and DVD covers yourself is fun as well. Recommended.
"Lots of detail!", this games is a great game if you like to customize you car and every detail of it. I found no cons in the games.
