Others say...
"sweet game" the new bongos make the game better then others. but if u what to play with 2 or more u need more bongos or more controlers. all in all it rocks.
"Great fun - Great songs" I picked up Donkey Konga (the first one) after I got Donkey Konga 2, because of the great song list in Donkey Konga. The graphics aren't quite as good, but it's just as much fun!
In essence you get 30 reproductions of songs to sing along with - from classics like Louie Louie to classic music songs, from Legend of Zelda to the Pokemon theme song. I really LOVE this song collection and think they provide songs that all ages will enjoy.
There are different levels of gameplay, from beginner to advanced. In fact, if you do really well, you can earn remix versions of songs and buy truly advanced versions to play along with. Plus, there are multiplayer versions that let multiple players play together or in competition with each other.
There are mini-games to test your skills, and a shop where you can trade in your earned points for new bongo sets.
I've heard some people say they get bored after a few months of playing the same songs over and over again. Heck, most games out there only keep your interest for a week or two! Plus, half the fun here is simply playing along. If you were in a band, would you complain on tour that you were tired of playing the same songs? :)
Really, you get all the fun of Donkey Konga 2 plus a far better song set. The minor drop in graphics really isn't a big deal at all. Of course it'd be great if, like with the XBox, you could simply download new song sets that you enjoyed. That way they could let you buy one game, and then download whatever types of songs you liked to sing. Kids could download the kid songs, adults could download the classic rock songs, and teens could go for the pop-hip-hop stuff. But until Nintendo gets its online act together, I don't mind them coming out with a whole series of Donkey Konga games, each with a different song set. I'll gladly collect them all!
"Fun party game!" This game is a fun party game. We took our bongos up to a family gathering and had everyone in the house clamoring over them! It was a hoot!
"Grate game!" Donkey Konga, a mix of music, bongos, and (no other than) Donkey Kong. I only own about 5 Gamecube games because I like PS2 better. This is a pretty fun game. You get a whole bunch of songs and drum to the beat of it. The songs are not very new but.... what the heck! Some song are "Wild Thang", "All the Small things", and some gamecube game's theams. Like Zelda and Pokemon. There are mini gaems you can buy with coins you get from drumming in "Street Mix" But, you only get about (if your good) 200 coins every time. The lowest price for a mini game is 4700 coins. How the heck are you supposed to get that with out playing for hours and hours and hours. Plus, the songs are not by the bands that play them, but by people the nentino probley hired to sing. And it`s all because of one word. Copyright! Dang copyright law. That is what gives this game minus one star. Another star down the drain becaues all the minigame and songs for different modes and the fun sounds( Insteand of the bongs soung, you can do different souds, like dogs) cost WAY TO MUCH! I am hoping Donkey Konga 2 will be better
"fun all around" Okay, if your out for a game to teach your kids to count, this isnt something you need. now if you are looking for something to entertain your hyperactive cousin while his/her parents are out, then this is a really good idea. at first, it is kinda difficult to play because you feel alittle ridiculous, but i promise that feeling will pass. the only problem i have found with this game is it is EXTREMLY adictive. the rythym fills you and all of your problems melt away. everything seems trivial as you beat on the drums. but your hands do get pretty raw after about 3 hours of clapping and slapping. but like i said, its pretty hard to stop. if you have a hard time getting the kids to do chores now, wait till they start to beat the drums and play along to thier favorite songs. once you play you wont be able to wait for the release of the next game in this series!

What our customer's say!
"DonkeyKonga 1", This is a really fun game.I love playing with my 10 year old lil girl when she gets out of school. A line will come acros the TV it will show left, Right,A flower which means clap and another circle that means tap bogos left and right until the line ends. The music goes all the way from B-i-n-g-o to a Pokemon Song,A Kirby song,A donkey Kong rap,and much much more. The drums are really alot bigger then I thought and Its realy fun. It's like a Rythym game and I love rythym games and Donkey Kong so this is just perfect. A great game for children as long as they will not destroy drums.I'd say 5 and up.
"DON-KEY KONG-GA", This game is different to many others because of its unique controller - a set of bongo drums. I originally bought this game for my mother who is a fan of Nintendo's characters and loves Bongos but this game was a little too hard for her and not fun. The actual gameplay consists of a bar with a combination of either blue stars, yellow circles, red circles or purple circles, which stand for hitting the left drum, hitting the right drum, clapping and hitting both drums together. The game itself features 30 songs from artists (always American, never Japanese which is VERY disappointing!) and Nintendo themes. As the song plays, the different symbols run along the bar and you have to match the right action to get points (and coins in only one section to buy items/songs/etc.) My mother got bored with the same repetitive motions all the time and stopped playing soon after I'd bought it for her. Even the multiplayer isn't interesting as it just features `get higher points'. And if you want bonus games, bongo sounds, etc. you can only earn coins to buy these things in one section and you have to keep redoing the same songs to get up your coin total which can take along time when you earn around 100 coins each go and some music costs 9999. Overall if you're a fan of Donkey Konga, I think you'll like this but it's not something to waste your money on, on a rainy day. Try Eyetoy on the PS2 instead.

"not bad, could be even better", This game is not bad. you beat LEFT, RIGHT, BOTH, CLAP according to the music notes that scroll across the screen.
however, for some songs, the beat of the song doesn't match that of the appearing note, even for the simple level. on the difficult level, the notes come out just too fast and you can't even match that to the tempo, not to mention you have to match the LEFT/RIGHT/BOTH/CLAP. can you do 5 or 6 LEFT/RIGHT/BOTH/CLAP within 2, 3 seconds without mistake? to me, maybe that's possible if the notes is memorized... but is this a game about memorization?
also, this game could improve by setting a mode that a "star" comes out instead of the LEFT/RIGHT/BOTH/CLAP, and with the star you can do LEFT/RIGHT/BOTH/CLAP and it still count as a "match". that way, it can be simpler and it can work like the taiko drum master on ps2.
"Gameplay = Great, Music = Mediocre", I love the bongo idea, it's actually a really fun game. However, if this game had a wider selection of songs, I'd give it a five.
If you ask me, 30 songs isn't enough. It'd be nice if one could unlock the rest, and ending up with at least 75 songs, like most music games have, i.e. DDR.
Also, I found that this game has mostly oldies tunes. I don't enjoy oldies all that much...it'd be better if we could get some newer songs in this game. Like, hits from nowadays. Yes, we can have SOME oldies songs in the game, but just a few. After all, kids and teens are most likely to be playing this game, and what do they listen to? New stuff.
So, only buy this game if you care about gameplay, and not about music, because, this isn't really a music game, with such a small selection of music.

"Good game for kids ages 6 and up!", Although this game hurts your hands from hitting the bongos and clapping a lot, it's all worth it! You can play some of your favorite songs on this game and you'll go bananas for some of them! I really like this game because up to 4 players can play, even without the bongos. This game will get you off your feet and get you into the groove!
"Drum Away", I love the concept of the game. At first it was hard to keep up with the rhythm. But once you get the hang of it, it's smooth sailing. But my hand and wrists get tired and sore after awhile. But it does build hand, eye, and rhythm coordination. The game has a good selection of songs to pound away at. My favorite if. "Whip It". Can't wait till Jungle Beat comes out. I hope more games are developed using the bongos. My only problem with the game is that when you play with multiplayers and when they clap, it records on your bongos which can ruin your perfect streak.
"A Gamcube Miracle", Nintendo has release a game that might be a savior to their Gamcube Consel. Donkey Konga is, without a doubt, the third best game I have ever played. Then again, I'm a sucker for rythm games. Donkey Konga introduces phisical cordination to the Gamecube, and works both your hands. It may start to ache your hands and wrists after prolonged use, but hey, every good game does! I thnik....
The game it's self is realitivly pricey, plus the costs of the bongo/s. It's a pretty penny, but it's worth it. The bongos are suprisingly durable, even thoufgh you prettty much beat them to death when you play the game. The game can go on for HOURS if you want it to, and inviting friends to play it just raises the urge to get another pair of bongos. (It's a wonderfull thing.)
Let's not forget the main part of this game, timing. This game raises your reaction time and pain tolerance greatly. By combing these asspects with the great music, stuff like the Mario Bros. Theme, is going to hit you hard. That's my two cents.... learn it and live by it.
"Jungle Boogie: Is the Rhythm in You?", Description
Donkey Konga, Nintendo's first venture into bongos, is an excellent game featuring thirty-three hit songs from Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again," to Louis Primo's "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)," to Blink-182's "All the Small Things," to the classic "Louie, Louie." Most of the songs are good, but there are a few ("Rock Lobster," "Diddy's Ditties," and "Bingo") that are God-awful songs (if they can be called that).
Control: 5/5
Control is easy, with a simple manner of control. Beats roll across the screen, and you whack the appropriate drum or clap into the built-in clap sensor. Menu scrolling is easy, and there are fun mini-games that are easy to control.
Game Modes: 3/5
The game offers several modes to play.
MODE I: STREET PERFORMANCE Play each song to earn coins! Includes a "Jam" mode where you memorize the songs and play them by memory, which seems hard and pointless.
MODE II: JAM SESSION Play each song to earn... no coins. Other than to play multiplayer, this mode is rather pointless as it gives you exactly zero coins per song.
MODE III: CHALLENGE Play each song in a row, and see how many you can clear!
MODE IV: DK TOWN Got extra cash? Come here to spend it on new drum sets, mini-games, and songs to play on Gorilla (Hard) difficulty.
MODE V: APE ARCADE Play three mini-games (100m Vine Climb, Banana Juggle, and Bash K. Rool)!
Bonuses: 5/5
With alternate drum sets and mini-games, this game rocks when it comes to bonuses!
Sound: 4/5
The few "bad songs" here give this a 4/5.
Value: 4/5
What you have here is a great game with a free pair of bongos (worth $30 themselves), so you've got $80 worth of stuff for $50. My only complaint is that it should have two pairs of bongos for instant multiplayer.
OVERALL SCORE: 21/25 BUY OR RENT: BUY!!!
"Konga is Mad Fun", Due to my son's blind allegiance to Nintendo, our household has been stuck with Gamecube even though Nintendo seems to have lost their edge in the video game market ever since Super Nintendo. With Donkey Konga, Nintendo finally seems to be fighting back against Sony and Microsoft with a GC exclusive that is a ton of fun. The Donkey Kong Country franchise was arguably the pinnacle of achievement for the SNES platform, and Donkey Konga may be the resumption of that DK tradition (with apologies to Metroid Prime, which was a pretty fine GC exclusive in its own right).
Donkey Konga's bongo is the best alternative input device since the gun for Duck Hunt. Perhaps even better if yours is a household that frowns upon militaristic toys. It's a breath of fresh air to finally do something other than joystick/A/B/X/Y/etc. There are a good range of difficulties for entertaining the quick and nimble teenagers like my son, as well as for the aged, rhythm-challenged like myself. It's been a long time since a video game made me laugh (and curse) as much as Donkey Konga. Be sure to play it with someone -- having a witness when you brain freeze in the middle of a difficult song is the most entertaining element of this game, and one which is lost during a solo session. After the kiddies go to bed, I bet DK would make a hoot of a drinking game ;-)
Definitely was 5 stars worth of fun. I am witholding one star on overall rating due to the suggested improvements I'd like to see in a Donkey Konga II sequel:
1. Create more options for competitive play with a single set of bongos. Yeah, a second set doesn't cost much more than another standard controller, but the second bongo is good only for one game, unlike a second controller which can be used for dozens of games. 2. Alternatively, provide the bongo at a lower price. The game plus bongo goes for $50, but a second bongo costs $30? Come on... sell us the bongo much closer to cost ($15?). We can only use it to play DK after all. Plus, I expect they'll need periodic replacement since we're literally beating on them whenever we use them. 3. Create a handicap option for competitive play. 4. Create some method for importing additional songs provided off the Nintendo web site to a GC memory card (even if I have to buy some sort of special GC-memory/USB reader). An iTunes-like per-download charge seems reasonable to recover the cost of transcribing more songs.
Donkey Konga is a great example of a game that doesn't require amazing technological pyrotechnics to impress. Even the older platforms probably had enough horsepower to run a game like this. Nintendo seems to finally be thinking outside the box/gamecube again. Let's hope it is a sign of other innovative fun to come to Gamecube in the future.
