"Realistic, Enjoyable Golf Experience"
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 was the first real golf computer game that I've played. When I first played it, I was thrilled with the graphics, the commentators, and the fun of it! Here are some great features of the game:

1. Game Face II-this enables you to design your own golfer! You get to choose height, weight, body mass in all sections, and you get to customize every detail of the golfer's face. My family has designed themselves, and it looks a lot like them. You can also adorn your player with clothing and accessories. As you progress in the game, you unlock various clothing and accessories. For example, you can unlock propellor hats, pirate hats, a paper bag to go on your golfer's face (very silly), and all sorts of shirts and pants. You can alos upgrade your golfers attributes using Game Face. You can buy distance, accuracy, putting, etc.

2. Legends Tour-you get to play against amateurs, pros, and legends using this game mode. You start by playing easy people, and then get to play pros. There are 24 of these people. Once you have beaten a large amount of players, you can play legends, such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Seve Ballasteros, Gary Player, and eventually Tiger himself. You can earn $25,000 by beating the amateurs; $100,000 for beating the pros; and $250,000 for beating the legends.

3. Tournaments-you get to play in various tournaments where you can win money.

4. Dream 18-Here's where you get to compile your own course. You can purchase other courses and combine the holes to make your own course. You can also increase the slopes, narrow the fairways, deepen the rough, and make the greens smaller to add to the challenge of your course. If you make your course prestigious enough, famous golfers will challenge you in match play to play your course.

5. Custom Game Mode-Here you can choose which game mode you want to play, and how many players you want. Game modes include Skills Competition, Scramble format, match play, stroke play, etc.

Another great thing about this game is the commentary. Gary McCord and David Feherty make remarks and comments about your shots, just like in real life. They are sometimes incorrect when reviewing a shot, but they are usually right.

This game features eight courses to play. These include Pebble Beach, Troon North, St. Andrews, TPC at Sawgrass, Sherwood Country Club, Emerald Dragon, etc.

There are some glitches in this game. One time when I was playing a skills challenge with my brother and dad, we were hitting from the water! Another time, the shot was labeled "bunker shot" but we were hitting from the rough. One time when I was playing against Ricky Barnes, his teeth shone through his chin. On another occasion, my lengends tour opponent set up to hit a pitch shot, but then turn around 180 degrees and hit it straight away from the target.

There are also a few annoying aspects. For example, if you hit the ball near the lip of a deep bunker, and your stance would requie you to stand in the bunker, it gives you an unplayable lie, and you recieve a penalty.

One good thing about this golf game is that it features a replay option. If you want to replay a shot, you can just replay it from 3 different camera angles. Also, the computer saves your good shots and keeps them under Resume so that you can view your good shots whenever you want to.

This is a very good game, and worth the money.

"Double Eagle in my very first round"
I got a double eagle in my first round ever. In my first round of Tee Off on the Dreamcast I got my only hole in one ever. Guess it's beginner's luck. The graphics are weird when the ball is in mid-air, it always lands shorter than it seems it should land. It's weird swinigng with the analog stick, but I'll get used to it.

"Great Game for a Non-Golfer"
I really liked this game. I'm not a golfer but really enjoyed this game alot. The commentary and gameplay are good and all of the courses are very realistic. It doesn't take too long to understand your controls either and the game gives you pointers on hitting the ball. If you've ever thought about buying a golf game, I'd recommend this one.

"Great game!!"
This game is great!!! Game face has new feauters which are also great. The only thing i was disapointed about was the seletion of golfers. But dont let that stop you. The golf swing is kind of hard at first but once you start playing for a while it gets easy. yes, you do have to swing with the left analog stick. Overall i give this game a 4.5.

"Completely AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!"
Hello. I've been a reviewer of games on Amazon for a long time, but I've NEVER seen a game like this. It's 200% out of 100% fun, and 1,000,00% out of 100% addictive. Legend Tour is the funnest mode. Now, I'm a fan of good multi-player games. We have A LOT of games here, and I havn't tried most of the single-player modes, either 'cause they're too hard... or because I like multi-player so much. This game was different. I got it for Christmas and I believe I've played it every day since. Legend Tour has you compete against legends like Arnold Palmer, Gary Player... and of course, Tiger Woods. You can also compete in the PGA Tour. When you create your player (yes, you can do that!), you can change stuff like, how pointy your nose is, adjust the curve of your eye fat, ex. You can also get better attributes from playing and earning money. When you get money, you can buy attributes, or go too the pro shop and but a lucky wristband, or choose your golf balls, or get some Tag Haeur, Nike, Taylormade, addidas, Cobra, Calloway, Cleveland, Dunlop, Never Compromise, Oakley, Oddessey, Rossa, Maxfli, or Ea Sports clothing or equipment. You can also buy animations, set your custom swing, and go through all the levels like Prodigy, Phenom, Champion, ex. while earning trophy balls, trophys, player of the month awards, and much much MUCH more! Oh, yeah, you can also unlock Justin Timberlake (not that you'd want to).

Sincerely, RedHawk48. GO COWBOYS! GO DESPERADOS! GO WHITE SOX!

What our customer's say!

"Great Game So Far!", Bought this for my husband (PS2) as he loves the Tiger Woods golf games. So far he's played it for a few days now and is enjoying it. It's different from the 04 game he just finished, so he's still getting adjusted to the changes, but overall, he's having fun and I feel the game is worth buying.

"Lots of FUN!!",
I've played this game for years then lost it and had to buy it again. Even with new versions out, I STILL PREFER this version of Tiger Woods over ANY NEWER VERSION. The newer versions make it difficult to putt. This version (2005), the putting is easy to follow, but still challeging. Fun for everyone, my girl & I play each other all the time since you don't have to be a big fan of golf to enjoy. IT'S the BEST TIGER WOODS VERSION AROUND!!

"BEST GOLF GAME OUT THERE. EVEN COMPARED TO THE NEWEST ONES!", The 05 series is by far the most fun, entertaining, and easy to play golf game on the market. I have played the newer Tiger Woods series and found them to be more difficult and BORING. Even now in 2008 this game is STILL one of my top 3 most played games on ps2!! Its just realistic and FUN!

"Best TGW on the market for PS2", TAke it from me, I am an professional tige Woods gamer. This is the one you should buy. DO NOT GET 2006, they introduced the shape stick on that one and it sucks. I put mine on ebay a week after I got it and got all my money back thank god. The cheat code for this one is "THEGIANTOYSTER" will unlock all. I like the 2004 also becuase it has Bethpage Black on it and I live on Long Island and play there quite often. The code for 2004 is "THEKITCHENSINK". The season mode in 2005 is better than 2004. So I would definatley get the 2005. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY on the later versions.. The 2005 was almost PERFECT , when they got to the 2006 I thought it would get even better but they REGRESSED.. ONE THING THEY MUST DO IS MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO SHUT THE CROWD NOISE OFF. I DONT NEED TO HERE APPLAUSE EVERYTIME I MAKE A SHOT IT GETS ANNOYING. THE CROWD NOISE IS TIED IN TO THE MASTER SOUND EFFECTS VOLUME WHICH IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS..
PEACE I'M OUT
JUSTIN

"Tiger Woods 2005", Not a good game at all, I bought used and i don't have a memory card so everytime i finish the lessons i can't unlock the tour mode after i had finished the lessons, don't wast your money on 2005, not worth it.Very STRESSFULL.

I give it an F rating for ps2

"saallll good ya'll", I'm not commenting on how this compares to 2004, all I know is this is a fine video game. Honestly, I don't know what more they can do. Playing against the legends can be frustrating, and seem impossible, but when you beat them (finally) it's actually rewarding instead of just over with.

"Same good stuff, same problems", I thoroughly enjoyed 2004. When 2005 was announced, I was waiting and wanting.

The courses included with 2005 are not exactly an improvement on 2004. If anything, the fantasy courses are more annoying than fun (of course, they are starting to resemble USGA setups...). However, being able to port old courses in cleared up this problem.

There have been leaps made in the graphics, and I like the new character development system. You now have more freedom to move forward, where-as before a single tricky task would keep you from advancing.

The things I would have liked to have seen are more attention to the way equipment affects play (for example, things like kick points in shafts instead of just regular, stiff, etc.), and the ability to choose how your swing looks (classical, modern, something else?).

If they pick better courses for next time (say Carnoustie?) I will be certain to check it out. Otherwise, I may just stick with 2005.

"Good, but I'd like to see new people.", This game is the best TW game ever. It has the legend tour where you beat people to get to the Legends. Including: Jack Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, Hogan, and Ballesteros. When you beat them then you unlock them to play with them or challenge them to a match.
Everything else is the same the same as last year. The thing that bugs me is where is all the good golfers? DiMarco, Couples, Sergio Garcia, and much more golfers I didn't mention. In 2005 they have Notah Begay, Charles Howell III, and Ty Tyron. These aren't elite golfers.
This is the only thing I don't like about this game, but if you are a golf fan go out and buy this game.

"No DSL support, are you kidding me?", Yeah so maybe DSL doesn't compare to cable but I am not the only person in the world who has it. The fact that this game works fine with cable AND dial-up but not DSL is mind boggling. Worse, it doesn't even state the incompatibility on the back of the game or anywhere in the manual. After spending an hour trying to get it to work I finally spent a few bucks and called the tech support line only to find out it DSL is not supported. How come DSL works fine in Tiger Woods 2004 and not 2005? Ah, screw it, I'm done ?#@?! about it. My final answer is, "Boycott this game and save your money".

"Basically a Repeat of 2004", Tiger Woods 2004 is a very fun game, and although 2005 is just as fun, it is really just more-of-the-same. The golfing interface is almost identical to 2004, with only 1 improvement among the continuing set of flaws, and that 1 improvement may not even really be an improvement. I get the impression (and it may be this way with many of the game manufacturers) that they are just biding their time until next year when the PS3 comes out, and they are not wasting their energy to improve PS2 games. I'll think seriously about buying any more games this year at all, if this is going to be one of the best of the bunch for PS2.

PROS:

* Game play interface (analog swing, etc) is the same, and still good. In fact the best of all golf games.

* Online play is fun with friends or strangers.

CONS:

* Graphics/textures lacking. The clothes LOOK TERRIBLE in this game. Half of the pants look "soiled" unless they're a solid color, like black. It's obvious they didn't put much effort into improving the way this game looks, regarding grass, shadows, etc. The clothing designers should be embarrassed. The clothes look "frozen" in place like video games from a few years ago.

* Game Face II is tedious and annoying. It took me forever to make my first character because there is screen after screen after screen of options. Half of them you can't figure out what they're doing either, because there are no prompts telling you what's happening. It's a nice idea but the execution leaves much to be desired. The skin tone system is completely un-intuitive. First you pick some sort of "base tone" that looks like no human skin you've ever seen before, then "modify" it with TWO different sliders? This makes no sense -- you think you're making a caucasian and the guy comes out with gray alien skin. What's up with that?

* Finding items/clothing in pro-shop is SLOW, TEDIOUS and ANNOYING. The interface is WORSE than TW 2004. It honestly takes a full 2-3 seconds to scroll from item to item down a list that could have 50 items in it. Item sorting mechanism sucks, and for some reason when you go to the Pro Shop there are "Featured" items that are for some reason NEVER worth buying. Why is this even in the game? I suspect it has to do with how much money sponsors are paying to get products in the game.

* Game is still one giant golf equipment commercial. True, equipment is important in golf and it is a brilliant way to tie in product placements and make money for EA SPORTS. But still, I shouldn't have to feel like I'm prostituting myself just for selecting NIKE golf balls when I'm playing a game -- for no other reason than they have a higher spin rating. I honestly wish there were an option to TURN OFF THE BRAND NAMES. I'm certain this will never happen though.

* Leveling-up system gets old. It's the same video-game pattern as always. Win a game, get money, spend money on Attribute points. Rinse. Repeat. Until you get to Tiger who is like 99 on everything. By the time you've done that you're a good golfer and you can win. Yay.

* Chipping interface STILL SUCKS BAD!!!!! What's up with that square thing with the crawler dots? This is the worst part of the playing interface, and it makes no sense why they left it that way when the rest of the game is so good. ?????

* The course designer-thing is lame. Why can't I design a course from start to finish they way I want? Why do I have to pick a hole from this course, pick a hole from that course... I actually know why, it's because that would be a lot of work to build a level-creation engine into the game itself, but you play all the courses so dang many times you get tired of looking at them.

I'll be waiting until a major update for Playstation 3 to come out before I buy any more Tiger Woods golf games.
