"Great football game.", This had to been on the the greatest games that I've ever played. With Madden now losing it's luster, I had to go back to this game. The graphics, gameplay, presentation, everything about this game was terrific and it still is to this day. The AI may be a problem and there are some minor gliches here and there, but those won't detract from what is probably the greatest football game ever made. If you don't own NFL 2K5, what are you waiting for?

"GREAT GAME YEARS LATER", I still play this game years later and I love it. The graphics hold up and its fun to play. I've had the competitors game but I sold it. I like nfl 2k5 better. Now you can buy it for cheap on ebay and amazon.

Buy it and save money. I promise you'll like it better.

"Awesome Game!", I've had this game for about 3 years now and I never get tired of playing it, what more could be said about it that hasn't been said already? It's definately worth checking out if you haven't yet!

"Believe the hype -- better than Madden, 3 years later", This is the best football game out there today, and it isn't even "next-gen." Graphically it might be the best thing on PS2, second to God of War 2. The commentary, once you get accustomed to the change, is INFINITELY better than Madden (ol' Papa Madden has been making me want to shoot myself in the face since 1999), the ESPN interaction is great, and it is overall a very, very strong football game.

Guys, this game is available for about a buck used, plus shipping. No joke, it will probably still be the best when Madden 08 makes its debut. Give this a try; you will not regret it!

"i could be seriously addicted to this game...", when i first read about this game i thought, well im not gonna be getting that for awhile,isnt worth 50 bucks, but then i saw it was only 20 bucks. i bought it as soon as i could. (last summer, june or july) being a die-hard football fan, ive now spent nearly 200 hours playing it, (193 hours, 47 mins to be exact) ive done 3 franchises and won a countless number of superbowls. the graphics are great and the sound is as good as ive heard it. the controls are great and you feel like you have total control over the players. the jukes, spins, shoulder charges, ect. are very easy to use, especially when you charge your meter all the way up. i think it was a good idea to make your player run faster by smashing the x bottom as fast as possible. the announcers do a pretty good job, but like all games, they can become a bit annoying. they make mistakes sometimes but they can be overlooked. i found the games way to easy, id easily finish seasons undefeated no matter how the off-season went, but the difficulty can be changed to your liking. the weekly work out schedule thing is a cool idea but i never got used to it as my players skills would decline more each time and still dont use it. the off-season is easy to handle, but there are only about 20-30 different faces used on the draftees, which i understand how they could only have so many, but some of them are acual current nfl players. so you might draft a player who has the same face as another player. this turns out to be no big deal but is still a low. the extra game modes are a nice bonuses like the classic games and situations. you can also use classic teams, but you have to enter the playes names yourself, some of which come up with audio matches or something like that, which means the annoucers will say their names during games. the crib is awesome and has tons of stuff to unlock/buy with crib credits. you earn these by accomplishing certain things, some during games, some using certain players and teams, and some over a longer period of time.
so overall, if your are a die-hard football fan, like me, you absolutley need to get this game. if you are a casual football fan, you might still want to pick this up, i mean for the price its at, why not?
ps, if you have an xbox however, you might want to get that version. first of all youll see the replays (at halftime, end of game and sportscenter) in motion instead of still, and you can put your own music into the game to play at certain times during a game, instead of listening to the nobody bands that are on it.

"2K5 better than Madden", ESPN NFL 2K5 is AWESOME!!!!!! It has unbelievable graphics and the Crib is cool too. I can't believe anyone would like Madden better than ESPN. They need to get their heads examined. IT REALLY MAKES ME MAD WHEN PEOPLE SAY MADDEN IS BETTER THAN ESPN. And what really made me mad was when I heard that EA had bought the NFL licence for 5 years, so ESPN couldn't put out a football game. MADDEN SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

""Mediorcre"", It was fun to play at first but now is very boring with a 24/7 mode it crushed Madden to bits. Even though that happened, Madden is the only football game on the market for 3 years. Madden's 2006 football game may be the last football game ever, so I would get Madden 2006. If you are GAGA over the ESPN series then rent this game, if you like it, you can buy it. I would suggest waiting for the new Madden but with ESPN NFL 2K5 you can't go wrong.

"ESPN NFL 2K5 vs Madden 2005", I wanted a Football game but I couldn't decide which one so I got both. After playing more than 10 games for each title I have to say ESPN NFL 2K5 is better.

ESPN has better presentation. Madden's presentation is lame. The play menu takes up more than half of the bottom TV screen, so you all see is players' top half, their legs looks chopped off. To make things worse, whenever you scroll thru the playbook the action gets paused a bit which makes all action choppy. ESPN has better looking cheerleaders and they do different things. Madden's cheerleaders have only one look type and she is ugly and has Bugs Bunny teeth and its the same sorry ass scene everytime. Madden's game intro always show players with their helmets on during pre-game exercise, ESPN players have face and hair!! ESPN's replay engine is better too, it shows the entire play, unlike Madden's which shows pieces of play.

Graphically ESPN is better. You can see vent holes on players' jersey. Madden's stadium/background graphic is a bit more clean, for example the banners and jumbotrons look sharper but this is because Madden's camera engine has NO side and iso views. ESPN has side and iso views, so its understandable that the stadium/background graphic is lesser, but just a bit if any. ESPN's animation is smooth. In Madden 2005 the animation is often choppy. Especially in demo mode.

Both games are not perfect. NO regular season mode for both....

Gameplaywise Madden is very arcadey, it kinda plays like Madden on Genesis. On offense you can zip your pass for completion almost everytime in any situation, even into the mass pile of players at the line of scrimmage. You can basically complete your pass to anyone anytime. ESPN's gameplay is more simulation and realistic(could be a bit more arcadey though....), you can't zip your pass like Madden else it will be incomplete or intercepted. You have to read the player's route and wait for the right time to pass. In Madden, quarterbacks pass to the receiver; In ESPN, quarterbacks pass to "the spot" of the route. Running game in Madden is horrible, you get tackled when you get near opposing players. Madden's running game feels like flag football. The running game in Madden just simply don't work that well. ESPN's running game is much better and realistic, you can bump off, spin, and power your way thru other players. Overall ESPN's passing and running game has good balance and both can and will be used in games. In Madden the passing game dwarfs the glitched running game.

Another thing I noticed is that ESPN has more player pictures! Roethlisberger and Eli Manning got pics in ESPN but none in Madden.

I purchased Madden 2005 because of the price drop. I was not impressed with Madden so I purchased NFL 2K5 for $20 the same night(even after so many months since its release). Im glad that I tried ESPN 2k5, it is better than Madden 2005. I will be returning my Madden 2005 tommorrow.

"The Greatest Football Game... EVER", NFL2K5 is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest football game ever made as of the year it was released (2004). It's absolute shame that the NFL decided to go with EA, for all purposes killing the NFL2K series.

The only downside that this game has is special teams returns are a little too hard, but aside from that I have no complaints about this game and for $20 I don't know if I have ever heard of a better deal in video game history. If you like football and the NFL it is IMPOSSIBLE to be disappointed with NFL2K5!!!
