Others say...
"for $100 Technics delivers!" gReAt sound and wont distort. these headphones can get pretty loud
I got these for the mainly for DJ'ing and its perfect but eventually the size adjustments (1 through 10) on the band will get a little loose so if you set it on 5 you may find it ends up on 7. remember i've had this for a year now
perfect for dj'ing but im sure there are lighter headphones for outside use.
oh and its very sturdy and looks awesOme :)
"Joints & Headbands Break!" I've owned two pairs of these. I agree with the other reviewer that they sound the best out of any DJ headphone that I've owned, but they are not durable. The headband and joints broke with both pairs within 6-8 months. I thought that I may have been hard on the first pair while using professionally, but the second failed after a few months of deliciate use. Dissapointing, especially at this price point.
"Sound great but hurt my head" I probably just have a misshapen head but wearing these headphones hurts after a short period of time. They weight quite a lot and sound wonderful but the headband isn't padded sufficiently for me and is quite narrow. So they make the stop of my head hurt.
Sound great but might be uncomfortable depending on your head's shape.
"Expect the best from Technics." Like I say, expect the best from Technics and, of course, from this great set of headphones. As a home DJ, musician, and quality sound seeker, I did a vast amount of research before buying an over $100 set of cans. As many mention, the Sennheiser's and Sony's do sound very good. But that is just it...good. If you own a generic set of headphones you will be noticing the difference immediately. However, if you do know something about sound and music, and even if you don't and are just searching for an excellent-sound-providing set of headphones, search no more. The DH1200s are 1) made to last, 2) handcrafted beautifully, and 3) they will blow your mind away with the clear, crisp, precise, enhanced, and over the top, high quality sound.
I specialize myself in trance, house, and electro-house music, and results are simply what you hope to expect from a respectable brand as Technics. Club and Venue DJ's should definately "hook-up" with a pair of these. They're designed like a tank...durable. And even though they may be around one or two ounces heavier than the competition, everything pays off in the sound; nothing really significant. Plus, their comfort is also very decent. I'm sure your ears or head will mind them just a little bit after a long and continuous three to four hour use. But nothing a brief 5 minute break can't handle. This is definately not a con; all headphones, due to their made-to-keep-sound-inside design, will be like this. Also, the sound is kept and locked in amazingly. Once more, for venue and club DJ's this is a definate plus. Be sure to be mixing your beats with no problem at all while your crowd enjoys at the other end.
But if you're just a nice, good-hearted person (which I'm sure everyone here is =D) who's looking for a pair of headphones that can deliver an over the top sound for when listening to your Ipod (or any other MP3 player), watching movies late at night, enjoying your classical music library (Vivaldi, Bach, Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, they all sound AMAZING!), or just wanting to get on the audiophile groove, these are the headphones for you.
From enhanced, clear, and crisp bass, to high-end treble that, no matter how high you crank up the volume, won't create distortion. Be prepared to listen-in to details and instruments in songs that you never noticed before. An easy rating for this one... 5 out of 5.
The price is more than worth it. I would not actually mind if i had to pay more for these phones.
PD. I don't mind answering any other detailed questions. Be sure to do an extensive research before making such a valuable purchase, which happens when dealing with music equipment.
"Unbelievable." For under 100, these headphones are jaw dropping.
Once I recieved them, I was anxious to try them because of the good reviews, and boy was I blown away!
The sound is incredible! The Bass response is AMAZING! I've never heard such deep, yet clean bass before coming from headphones, these are freakin' spectacular! The highs are also great and the trebles are sweet. The overall sound is mind blowing, especially for the price. It surprises me that they go for under 100 dollars!
If you're looking for a good pair of headphones, that is relatively inexpensive, look no further, you have found your pair! These really are that great.

What our customer's say!
"Good but a little bit tight", This is good headphones. Sound is good as far as I can hear. I am not a professional expert.
The downside is that they are big and tight. I could not wear them for long time. It is become too hot. The same feeling I have if sit at home in a winter hat.
Probably there is no way to make some free air circulation in such type of head phones. Then the solution is to choose a smaller headphones.
I also have a pair of BOSE earphones. It has its own issues but they are smaller and more comfy.
"Good set", Good set of Headphones works as described, I bought for home listening and they suit my needs, I'm sure better exist out there but at the price i don't think these are bad at all and seem quite durable to me, even though I wont be using them professionally. My only complaint as addressed by others is their weight which im sue i will get used to but now they just seem a tad much. Another thing is since I wear these in public it would be nice if the cord didn't stick out so much, as I wear them with the band on the back of my head not ontop. All in all a good buy at a reasonable price
"I've bought three of these so far... Love them!", I've actually bought three pairs of these. I DJ. I've used mine every single day for the last 2.5 years. A couple weeks ago I bought a pair for a friend as a present. This week, my old pair finally gave out. One side no longer produces sound. But let me tell you with the abuse I give them, I never expected them to last this long. It's amazing they've gotten this much use and made it. I'm so happy with them I came right back here and bought my third pair.
They've also got great sound and great noise blocking thanks to the size and fit of the ear cups. I find them very comfortable and can wear them for long periods of time.
"Sony 700's are still better", I just got these today so I have no long term use with them yet. But given that the sound won't change much with usage I have to say the following compared to the Sony 700's: the bass isn't as deep, the midrange is the best point about these headphones, the highs trail off too fast probably from the upper midrange on (probably around 3500hz)and the Sony 700's have better imaging.
I have more headphones on order as I type. I probably won't use these very much or at all. They say you get what you pay for. Well sometimes, given the relatively high price of these headphones, you get less than a good value.
EDIT: Although not the same quality of sound or in the same price range even the Marathon 1100's by Audiovox marketed as DJ headphones are a better value. See my review on Amazon.
"This is it. I know from experiance.", Every time I break a set of phones, I get a different brand and model to try new things out. That was until I got these. Now these will break, but keep in mind every swivel DJ phones in this range will break just the same in about a year or 2 depenindg how to treat them. You should always have a warrenty for phones anyways so the durability shouldnt even be an issue. THEY ALL BREAK. First off, a huge advantage to these is the comfort. Not only are they the most comfortable dj phones in this range, but unlike some others, they are completely closed ear. The sound quality is fantastic. Better than the denons or the pioneers. Sony 700's have better sound sure, but at the cost of the most uncomfortable DJ phones I ever had. They are a bit heavy, not too big of a deal. They are bulky but the styling is decent too. Did I mention, unlike the pioneers and denons, they also come equipped with a detachable plug and the quarter inch at the end has a 90 degree arm on it so the cord wont get in the way on most mixers. listen, your not going to go wrong on pioneer hdj1000, sony 700 or even the newer denons in this range. But these Technics have a slight edge over the swivel phones at this price range. You want something better than Technic dh1200? be prepared to spend at least 300.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Sweet Headphones", The Technics RP-DH1200 DJ Headphones are by far among the best cans i have ever picked up. They have amazing Bass and Treble due to there wide frequency range and are very comfortable while wearing. Their multiple wear settings is due to the unique twisting design and they fold up. There a bit chunky, but that means their serious. People notice them, they know you know music, hopefully the perception is true.
"frustrating", I loved these at first...awesome sound, super comfy, decent price and a name you can presumably trust. But just like other articulating headphones that I've bought, they're made out of plastic and they eventually crack. After that, the left side shorted out. Expect to get maybe 6 months out of these, tops.
"Amazing Clarity and Comfort", These headphones are perfect for DJ's. While the music is blasting the speakers, you're clearly listening to the next song in your headphones with no distortion whatsoever. Had them on for about 5 hours and couldn't feel more comfortable. Great product once again. Thanks you Technics.
"Excelente calidad", Son uno de los mejores audifonos diseñados para el trabajo de el dj profesional de hoy en día. Excelente sonido, alta fidelidad.
"Solid Earcandy", I'm no audiophile, but I do love these headphones. They sound great, look awesome, and block a good bit of noise. I have a friend that owns some Pioneer HDJ1000s, and the Technics feel better and feel more durable. They also sound better in my opinion, but they weigh more than the Pioneers. I wore them so much for the first week that my head started to hurt, but that went away. I bought these because of their ability to change earphone jack chords and the 1/4 jack conversion. I can turn my sound up all the way on my ipod and they don't crackle. The only time they may sound bad is if you have a poor quality MP3. I take them all over the place, and they hold up. The chord also doesn't get in the way too much, and isn't longer than the one on my cheap sonys. Caution, your spiffy styled hair will be ruined every time you put them on, but when you're spinnin' on the decks or whatever it doesn't matter.
