"Perfect for beginners.."
I have loved this software since the day I got it! And I have dozens of other and MORE powerful software's. But I always go to this one first, to do the cropping and cloning, and using the histogram...and the other adjustment tools. Then I take it to another program to put the final touches to it. But you can use this for everything if you wish to do that. But I can not recommend this enough to those who want an all in one..easy program to start with. It does have many powerful tools..and I don't think you will be disappointed, especially if you are a beginner to the editing part of digital photography. Simply, out of all of my dozens of software programs....I love this one the best!.....

"Just what I thought"
This is exactly what I wanted to buy and I am using it a lot.

"Considering a Photo Editor?"
First of all let me say i am using a Dell desktop with a 3G or so processor, and 1G RAM. currently I am using a Canon EOS 10d SLR and i shooot in large JPEG or RAW. i have used just about every Digital Image Pro program as my main editing software since the first time i used "Picture It" 5 years ago. (I also own a copy of Photoshop 7 with several books and reference guides and it is still too complicated for me) I take about 1500-2000 shots a month and have had no problems with program crashing or computer freezing. Was using an IBM thinkpad with a 2.4G processor w/ 512RAM, Program worked slow, so i upgraded to 1G RAM and that was the answer.

Great art in not just oil, it is brushes, canvasses, frames, perspectives, presentation, luck and many other things that create what is interesting. Pro 10 it would seem is a nice fit in a moderate picture making hobby. not neccessarily pro level, but plenty adequate for hobbyist and beginners. I actually have sold prints so yes it could work for low level photogs and someone trying to break in the business.

Originally i liked how this software cropped, sharpened, cloned, and set picture sizes for printing. also, before my current camera i started out with a 2 megapixel Sony camera. As the files became bigger so did the need for Processing, RAM, and storage.

Early on i was impressed with the kinds of things i could create with pictures. Fast forward to today. And i currently use Microsft Digital Image Pro 10 excluseivly for all my photo editing. The more i use it the faster it starts and the faster it perfoms. An important note: the upgrade from Pro 7 to Pro 10 does not require an overwrite of the Pro 7, Therefore I keep both programs readily available for use. Why? the mannually adjusting Sharpness feature and the circular crop feature. Pro 10 doesnt carry these features like Pro 7. If you can find a copy of Pro7, it might be worth your time to buy it and install it, Pro 7 comes in handy alot for me.

The program is easy to figure out and easy to use. True it has dropped quality in some areas over the previous versions such as Sharpness Correction(a manual adjustment would be nice)and Red Eye reduction with the adjustable black blob in the center of the eye controller(kinda ineffective)(And another job for Pro 7). other than these few points I have had no problems with the software. It does almost everything i need it to at a high level of satisfaction. As I have become a better photog, i have learned not to shoot these kinds of shots that create Red Eye. I bought a nice Flash and am about to buy some lighting kits and backdrops. Regarding the sharpness issue, i simply use my cameras settings to increase sharpness initially so as not to rely on the software. Really, the software can only do so much anyway. The pic has to be relatively clean inside the camera to become an exceptional photo post editing. Otherwise, i just use the extensive filter collection to create a different perpective for a poor photo.

Have never used the slideshow features from Pro 10. But I do use Photo Story 3 from the Microsoft website, also I upgraded to Mydvd for pans and zooms. Mydvd is the best i have found(at a decent price) for clear televisable slidshows, even better with pans, zooms, and music.

The best part is the price, reluctantly i shed myself of $99.00 to buy this program and waited for a $40.00 rebate. But during and after my buying process, i knew this program would be worth the money. And it has been. IT REALLY CAN WORK MAGIC!

"Dissapointed!"
Do not wast your money. You can do almost everything with the standard XP Profissional that you can with this looser. Sorting within files is almost impossable, defalt settings dictates assending or decending orders, regardless of your pictures folders arrangement. Mot worth the money!

"Work for smaller photos but not big"
This program is good for working with smaller size pictures (4 x 6 in). It's just working fine. No problem. However, once you work with large image, 10 x 8 in, it was so slow in my Pentium 4 PC (725MB RAM, 3 HD, regularly defragmented, WIndows XP Prof, and background programs turned off, see nothing from the Task Manager). Basically I have a canvas size 10 x 8 in, 300 dpi resolution with several JPG pictures (1-2 MB size each) in it. When you crop the JPG or work with magic wand, the program runs very sluggish. It made me frustrated to wait 60 seconds for each activity. Note that although I have to wait for a while, the result (print out) of the images are very good and super. It's just the waiting time is very annoying.

What our customer's say!

"Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0", I'm just a person who likes to work with my own photos. I'm not an expert, but I like to produce great pictures. I haven't used it nearly enough to any way have used all its helps. But what I do use regularly in working with my pictures has been easy to learn, and totally satisfying in the end results of what I print out or put in my photo albums. I bought it on my cousin's recommendation who has used it since it 1st came out, and she can do anything with it.

"Best Photo Enhancing Program I have.", I have several photo programs and out of all of them this is the one that I use the most. The auto functions in it are usually the only thing needed to make photos look there best. For those pictures that are too faded or in too bad of shape for the auto functions to do it the manual functions are easy to use.
The other photo programs that I have are;
Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI, (too complicated for easy use)
Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006 Editor, (this one is OK, but cost too much for the Full Edition for what it does)
Adobe Photoshop CS, (too complicated for easy use)
Microsoft Picture It! Publishing Platinum 2001 (Cant get this one to run right, if it worked like its supposed to it would be great)
PhotoStudio 5.5, (Simple easy program but doesn't do enough)
HP Image Zone, (Doesn't do enough and doesn't work most the time)
I have tried a few other programs too and out of all of them the Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 is the one I use.

"Digital 10 is no more", I just bought a new Vista computer and Microsoft has not allowed you to use the excellent Digital 10 with Vista.

Vista has its own photo program and it is very basic compared to Digital 10.

I am very disappointed.

"Ms Digital pro 10 with Vista", I love this software but I can't get it to load in Vista...can anyone help me please?...sheila South Australia

"love it", Easy to use, performs more edit functions than my previous. Much less expensive than most.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"excellent, easy to use", i had adobe photoshop elements 2.0 before purchasing this product. (don't buy adobe's - buy this one if you are still deciding.) Microsoft's digital image suite blows adobe's product away... much easier to use, plus easy photo organizer, and easy printing setup. All the effects and filters that photoshop elements has (plus more features), plus you get a better bargain.

"DVD Photo Story update", Although the DI Suite 10.0 will create video stories on Video CDs (VCD), a free upgrade to Photo Story is available at: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/offers/details.aspx?displaylang=en&OfferId=7AC8A932-68A5-4147-B303-9C3456DAE568

I have used this product on a fresh install of Windows XP and an upgraded XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2). The product works great on both systems and the ease of use makes this a wonderful product with an overabundance of features for a good price.

Maybe miamimeg will increase his review points based on the free update...

"Strange Crashes", The program has excellent features and useability. Definitely easier to use complicated features (like inserting photo in a selected area), than Elements. But On three different computers (Dell and Medion) this program causes a re-boot when I try to save a complex edit. If I keep it to changing levels, it saves fine. But using the noise reduction (which is impressive by the way) caused a reboot when I tried to save. Same when I inserted a photo in a selection area, and then tried to save. It could be an incompatibilty with one of the other programs on the computer. But I've had this problem on three different computers - all with XP2 and all with Firefox (But I temporarily removed Firefox, and the problem persisted, so I don't it is to blame). Had the same problem with Version 9 as well. Perhaps the incompatibility is with XP2 - Don't know. It is a mystery and keeps me from giving this a 5 star rating. I called tech support - they were unable to identify a fix for the problem - so I'm returning the software.

When I used version 9 (before XP2) it worked fine, and I liked the software a lot. It's browser-organizer is faster than the one in Elements and Photo Album. But it's not much good if the software has problems working properly under XP2.

"Some functions doesn't work well, poor quality", Digital Image Pro Ver. 9 was better quality software. Version 10 made improvements on automating some tasks but made other fundamental functions work really badly: If you apply Red Eye correction, most of times when trying to increase the effect to achieve a natural eye color, the software inserts like a Black ring around the eyes!! Also, the sharpen function works pretty, pretty bad!!

I don't understand why releasing to market software with these kinds of bugs on features that are used the most? why if they were working perfectly on version 9?

I returned this very expensive ("very poor" price/performance) software to buy other program where all the editing functions work as they should!!

"Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0", I love this software,...does everything I want to do and more,... easy to learn...It does only do VCD'S, no dvd...I enjoy the VCD 'S though..you can get quit a few photo's on the cd.....Very easy to add another individual to a photo if you like....I highly recommend this software...
