"Light House is full of suprises"
This is a game full of suprises. Shifting between times makes it interresting with a lot of places to explore. It has a lot of the puzzles whitch I found very challenging. Some I admidt I had to look into the walkthrough to manage.
The grafic is exelent and I enjoyed playing it all the way to the end.

"Reliable no-frills fun"
The game was a good one for those that avoid violent games where fighting is required to get anywhere. This one has just enough ambience to entertain, but not too much to keep you up nights.

My system is about four years old now,yet still powerful enough to meet the demands of most games, so this one was no challenge hardware-wise. I've never actually owned an AdventureGames.com game that ever did exceed my system's configurations and requirements listing. That being said, there may be issues for some with the sound & lighting that is always very dim in the game. The graphics/sound may not appear or work at their best if you have integrated sound and video on your computer's motherboard. A separate sound and graphics card would be worth the investment for most.

"Haunted Lighthouse Adventure"
In the style of the classic ghost story, or adventure fiction, you spend the duration of the game exploring a haunted lighthouse in several different eras: 1912, 2004 and 2090AD. There's lots of detail, interaction and enigmas. Watch out for the ghosts of the lighthouse keepers, as they disappeared back in 1912, never to be seen again. Fans of the genre, ghost stories and The Ballad of Flannan Isle will like this classic point and click adventure game.

"Good story, good puzzles, anti-climactic end"
My husband and I played this together and really enjoyed the imagery and story line. We had fun with the puzzles and tried not to take advantage of hint pages.
Then the game ended. Just like that -- over. We sat watching the game credits sure there must be something more, but there wasn't. No explanation (granted, you have figured out what happened -- but closure is nice). It was very dissatisfying and put a pall over the whole game experience.
Dark Fall the Journal at least gave you a 30 second conclusion after the final puzzle.
Oh well. It was an inexpensive game.

"Spooky fun!"
Okay, I'm not easily spooked, but this game managed to do it! I actually loved it! Good medium-difficulty puzzles which were all very logical. I didn't know there were other Lights Out games until I came on to review this one. I am definitely planning on trying the "The Journal" now.

What our customer's say!

"Spooky surprises!", Dark Fall Lights Out is great. It seemed a little slow going at first, but once I found the entrance to the cave I couldn't stop playing.
It really draws you in and you feel as if you truly are alone on a deserted rock!

"worth the money", My husband enjoyed the challenge of this game. It was user friendly except for one thing, the spacebar must be used frequently during the game. Since my husband has limited use of his hands, this was a problem. The sequal to this game does not require the use of the spacebar so is more user friendly for him.

"Poorly developed and planned", I was very excited to play this game as it seemed somewhat spooky and was reviewed well overall. However, I quickly learned that the plot was very weakly developed. I longed to understand more of the story, but vital information seemed completely abscent.Characters were introduced never to be seen again. There was no logical motivation behind which objects the player can examine or pick up.

Additionally, the game was far too short. I completed it in only a few hours of play, and the ending, which I will not disclose here, was abrupt and disappointing.

"it was just OK", Well first off I just finished this game and decided to come rate it. In the beginning I was very excited to play. Then after going back and forth between times I got a little aggravated. I really got tired of climbing back and forth on the lighthouse stairs. Also I am no artist so It annoyed me that I had to go back threw most of the game to sketch certain things so I could have the ending that I deserved. Well I didn't get the ending I deserved. The ending is horrible. You can barely make out what is being said. I had to actually go to a few website to read what was being said in the end. A lot of items you click on will have to be revisited after a certain item is found. So its like going threw the entire game twice hoping for something to change. But on the plus side it was a good way to waste a lazy Sunday. I would suggest playing the game if you just have nothing else to do and there is nothing on tv to watch. Its very cheap on here now so go for it. Just have a pen and paper ready to write down a lot of numbers and do a few sketches.

"Another Great "Dark Fall" Game", In "Dark Fall: Lights Out", you play Parker - a young cartographer (map maker) who has been hired to come & map out an area of Trewarthan Harbour that has claimed many, many lives over the centuries. Although it appears that this is just another "job", you soon learn that there are rumours flying about re: an "evil presence" at the lighthouse where you'll be stationed - and as you approach this lighthouse, a thick fog rolls in & suddenly the bright lights of this lighthouse go dark...

When you arrive, you find that you're alone. The 3 other crewmen who live here are missing - but where could they be? Something must have happened just a few minutes ago, because the stew they made for dinner is still steaming hot - what could have happened that quickly?

As you work to unravel this mystery, you find that it spans thousands of years. Will you be able to figure out what's going on in enough time to save yourself? And is it possible to save the others? What you find out about 2/3 of the way through the game re: what is behind these disappearances will be a BIG surprise!

Overall, I really liked this game. The graphics & story-line are really good, and there are quite a few places/scenes to explore - including various time periods. The 2 things I didn't like (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) include: 1) after the very beginning, there is no one to talk to in the game, & 2) I was hoping for a better ending - where you're shown how what you did impacted the lives of those in the various ages that were impacted. However, even with these "downfalls", I would still highly recommend it to those who enjoy mystery games - and at this price, you really can't go wrong!

One more thing, there were a few times where I needed a "nudge in the right direction", and I found the websites for "UHS Hints" & "Game Boomers" to be a great help.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Nice and creepy, but with some flaws", Lights Out started off as a good mystery. It was enjoyable to explore the creepy lighthouse, searching for clues re: the missing lightkeepers. There definately was a ghostly presence about. Also entertaining was the ability to travel in time, to see how the lighthouse existed in different time periods. For the most part, the game was fun to play. One downside of the game was the tediousness of having to re-explore areas previously visited once you found a pair of goggles. The concept was nice, but you really had to go back & look at everything again to see if the goggles would give any further clues. The other negative is you can actually complete the game without exploring everything or completing all puzzles. This happened to me (the 1st game I've ever played that did this), I actually went back to playing it to see what I missed. And the ending, I didn't quite get the ending. Still not sure if I do. But it's worth playing if you like creepy games.

"Dark fall's the most challenging game ever!", When I first purchased Darkfall: Lights Out, I was not all that thrilled. I never bought into all that ghosts and gobbling in a video game. But this was is different. It has mystery, crime solving and puzzles. Everything I look for in a PC game. It is a bit tricky and complicated. I must admit, I did have to go online to figure a lot of things out. But that just added to the games value, for me. I am a great puzzle solver and this gaame had me stumped for days!!! Great spooky buy.

"Simply dreadful", The game play is terrible. It seems you have to hit every active spot in order to advance. I missed one and got stuck for over an hour. I'd gone to the right of a tree and looked up (to see nothing but sky) but hadn't gone to the left of the tree and looked up (also to see nothing). Far too many completely pointless hot spots that add nothing except another chance to miss one.

I gave up and tried a walkthrough and even that didn't help. It wasn't until the 3rd walkthrough that I realized you could look up from both sides of the tree. In the end I did enough to go from the opening scene to the island and then gave up - maybe this game rocks once you get to the 3rd location, but I doubt it.

"DISJOINTED, BUT PRETTY GOOD FUN", Like an earlier reviewer noted, Lighthouses seem a natural. This is at least one of 3 I've owned and played. Games starts in 1912, goes to 2004, goes either backwards to 2090 BC or forwards to 2090 AD. Games starts in a highly atmospheric foggy local in Cornwall in 1912, and then we're off and running. Is is a ghost story? Is it science fiction? Kind of like being at a massive all you can eat buffet, only what dishes.

There are certainly elements that ARE different and fun, but in their attempt to be all things to all people, a lot of otherwise "fun" threads get dropped. Personally (which of course this is), there was a valiant attempt to combine 3 separate games into one without much attempt to join them all together.

There are 4 major locales: Cornwall 1912; Cornwall 2004; Cornwall 2090 BC and/or Cornwall 2090 AD, each of might have been better served by developing 2 at a time more thoroughly to be more interesting. I like to become really involved in a game I'm playing, otherwise I wouldn't send the money. This one did come close, but since I'm writing a "review" that's where my position is: too much crammed into too little time. I HAVE noticed that this is a "sequel"; haven't bought #1, this game had not encouraged me to buy it. Still, I do not regret buying this one.

Go ahead and buy it. As a "warning" I have yet to figure out how to make it work w/o deleting the "Quick Play" that my digital camera requires (not to mention Myst III). Bummer as to inconvenience, but not "overcomeable"!

It's fun, although it could be more so. Why I've rated it as I have. Relatively speaking, game IS reasonably priced. I see that those who ordered Syberia II, also ordered this game. If you haven't ordered Syberia II, I'd STRONGLY suggest you do so. There is at least a $10.00 difference in price (Syberia II being the more expensive.) Graphics and story line are still the gold standard. If you're more into spooky, this game is a reasonably good investment.

"One of the worst games I've ever played!", I really hated this game. I gave it two stars because the graphics are nice so that was the ONLY thing that kept me playing (and the fact that I hate to give up). But the game play was horrible. I hated that you could look at things that had no relation to the story or to help with puzzles. Why on earth would I want to look in an empty cubby or pick up a tea pot that was not used elsewhere?? The story is okay, but the music and the "over here", "this way" voices are annoying because they don't actually mean anything. Not to mention there is no closed caption and you can't figure out what people are saying in the few areas they do talk to you. The only interaction with other characters is contrived and boring. There was a lot of reading of materials that didn't really help move the story forward and could have been better done. The navigation was hopelessly annoying and very easy to get lost.

Don't waste your money on this one. Play Syberia instead.
