"The sequel to KOTOR is fun, but more difficult than the original."
This game is a great RPG, especially for being a sequel. This is not made by Bioware, but is still very good. The graphics are slightly improved, but I would have liked to have seen it upgraded a bit more. The sound and music and such are good like in the original. The story is pretty good, but kinda weird. Its a long enough game to be worth buying I think. Everything that made the first game great is here. The one noticeable difference from the first one is the difficulty. This one is much harder, which can make parts of it frustrating. When you really come down to it, this game is just more of the same, which is kind of a good thing since the first was so great. I would highly recommend this to fans of the series, and if you're into RPGs period, I'd say at least rent it.

"Interesting and Melancholic Story"
The player starts out as a Jedi knight who can not remember much of his or her past. It is not as great as its predecessor, but still a very fun role playing game. The characters are a little smaller in this game. There are more and also new enemies to fight besides the Sith. Battle takes place with a system of rounds and character statistics as was with the first game. There are many new and peculiar things compared with the first one such as styles of lightsaber fighting to suit different situations. It has a few bugs. Saving the game in different slots is safer than overwriting saved games.

"AWSOME"
PEOPLE U NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS GAME HAD LOTS OF CONTENT CUT FROM IT BECAUSE OF A DEADLINE even though this game had content cut it is still ery good SAY WHAT U WANT BUT MY OPINION IS THIS GAME IS WAY BETTER THAN THE FIRST

"KOTOR falls to the bland side"
KOTOR 2 pales in comparison to its predecessor, which is one of the best RPGs I've ever experienced. The original KOTOR delivered an engaging storyline with interesting characters and relationships, as well as some challenging battle scenes complemented by clever brain-teasers.

KOTOR 2, on the other hand, has a rather convoluted storyline, something I could overlook were it not for the games other shortcomings. Among them, it's easy. Too easy. The enemies don't pose much of a challenge: Playing the entire game, my party died in battle a handful of time.

Even more disappointing: This game lacks the mental challenges that made KOTOR so entertaining. The original had brain-teasers scattered throughout the game. This game has merely a few, none of which take more than the slightest amount of contemplation.

Moreover, too much of KOTOR 2 relies on simple "fetch" missions: Getting this or that; delivering messages ... Yawn.

So why the score of 3? Well, the game does retain some of the features of KOTOR that I enjoyed. The space fantasy world is well designed and fun to explore as you interact its array of various denizens. I still love that you get to play a Jedi and choose to follow the path of Light or Dark. I enjoy seeing how your choices affect both your character as well as your allies and the world around you. And using your increasingly powerful Force powers and lightsaber skillz to shred your enemies is quite satisfying.

For all its shortcomings, I've played through the game once, as a Dark Jedi, and I am currently in the process of playing it again following the path of Light. Plus I'll likely revisit it down the road and play as a character of the opposite gender, because that, too, has some effect on how the game progresses.

All in all, if you're a fan of KOTOR, this game is worth checking out. Just don't get your hopes up too high.

"What a RPG should be"
If you are into Star Wars and Role Playing, this is the game for you. Detailed characters, inticing missions and high level of replay makes it a definitive game to own, and you don't need to have played the first one to enjoy it! Have fun!

What our customer's say!

"Dissapointing when inevitably comparing it with the original", The original is one of my favorites ever. When I beat this I couldn't help feel disappointed. It just lacks on so many levels. First off the story is no where near as good as the first, but its not terribly bad. They probably could have made it better but it is often confusing and not all that interesting.

This one is much darker than the first which might please people. Everything else though isn't an improvement over the first though. The graphics are actually worse than the first. The game was rushed for the holidays though, still there's no excuse for the weak graphics and glitches this game has.

The characters, while pretty good just don't compare to the original. My main issue with the characters though is one character, which shouldn't even be in the game is GOTO. He doesn't offer anything to the game and is useless. It could have been better but they didn't do anything with him. Another character HK you can barely use until midway through the game, and that's if your lucky, I didn't get to use him at all. You have to spend the whole game getting parts to fix him. The rest of the characters are decent though.

Another issue is you don't get your lightsaber until about half way through the game. You spend too much time getting out of problems the story gets you into. For instance, probably the worst start to any game I have ever played is you start off on a mining station called Peragus. It takes a while until you get off and it's really frustrating. Then when you think your out you get blamed for the destruction of it, so you become under house arrest and it takes too long for the game to get going.

While this game may be more challenging overall than the first, the sith lords aren't even difficult or challenging. The game builds up for nothing. The other huge problem is the ending. I wont ruin the details but nothing happens. It's an extremely disappointing ending. You think that since you put so much time and effort into the game they would give you a decent ending but they don't. So play the original and don't buy this unless it is decently priced, it doesn't end up being worth 40 or 50 bucks.

"Better then the 1st.", When I played this game the 1st way through I'd give it 3 stars, but each time i play this game, I get a better experience and learned to love the different characters, new features, and locations more and more. Anyone who gives it 3 or below hasn't played it twice, or spent time exploring the new features such as Influence(stroke of genus) work bench buff's and overall game interface. But there are negatives, it was rushed, the game play curve can take up to 3 entire play throughs, but this can be a good thing.

"Not The Original...", My problem with KOTOR:II is the whole "I've got to start all over" feel to the game. There should have been a way for the game to acknowledge that you played through the first in the series, and allowed the player to level up faster or skip certain aspects. It would have felt like a "true sequel" that way. It is still a great game, but it is not the original. My hope is for a better follow-up on the 360 platform.

"Ahh starwars!", If your a big Star Wars person ... the game is probabally flawless to you. However for those of us who were just looking for a good game this one fits the bill. It is not made as well as the first in the series but its a nice carry on for the story and more light sabre and force power fun.

"Knights of the Old Republic II", Our 9 year old says there is lots of action and loads of surprises in this game. Every choice you make changes the galaxy!

"Lost and Alone", KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II takes place about five years after KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC ended. Lord Revan has disappeared. The Jedi were wiped out in the war that followed and the Sith seem firmly in control of much of the galaxy. The game begins with your character, known as The Exile, sitting half-naked in a prison cell aboard an apparent mining station. There are dead people all around and most of the robots have seemed to go insane. The Exile has no lightsaber, but does have Force powers. As the game progresses, you learn more about The Exile from rather frequent cut-scenes. The ultimate choice lies between choosing to return to the Jedi or to fully embrace the path of the Sith. The path isn't exactly as clear as it was in the original KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC. People give advice, but commit actions that are in opposition to what they advised. Some characters appear to be allies, when in reality they are enemies hoping for your characters downfall.

There are also some of the same characters from the first game. Some of these pop up as additions to your party, while others are part of the storyline and appear mainly in cut-scenes. The Ebon Hawk is also back and is the ship that your character uses to get around the galaxy in.

The workbench can be used not just to upgrade items, but to make new armor and weapons as well. An additional lab station has been added, too, that allows for the creation of medical devices and explosives. These stations can be located on just about every location.

Pazaak has gotten more interesting with the addition of a few new cards and a first play rotation. The racing games have also been improved, but I didn't spend too much time on those. I was more interested in the storyline of the game.

The fighting seemed to be much easier than in the original KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC, especially towards the end of the story. This could be because the game seems to autosave more often, allowing progression to happen faster. Overall, enemies seem to die easily and without doing much damage. The one exception I found was in the Jungle Tomb on Dxun. I don't know why, but I found the Sith Masters there to be particular difficult to defeat.
A component to the storyline that I really enjoyed, was having your character be able to teach and train other characters in either the ways of the Force. It was pretty neat to be able to have a small army of Jedi going into some of the final confrontations.

However, despite some of the improvements, KOTOR II is disappointing. After having played through KOTOR, I had a huge sense of accomplishment. It felt as though I had gone on a long journey and saved (or later when I played as a Sith, overtaken) the galaxy. There was even a cool scene celebrating the victory. KOTOR II doesn't have any of that. The ending of the game is terrible and leaves more questions unanswered than I had when I first started playing the game. But, it's not just in the ending. There are several times throughout the game that elements seem to end rather abruptly. That's not to say that playing the game isn't fun, because it is. There are times when the game is exciting, but overall KOTOR II just isn't as engaging as the original. Looking back at the gaming experience, it is as though the developers just rushed through the game to get it completed on time.

If you haven't played the original KOTOR, I recommend playing that first before playing KOTOR II. KOTOR II is fun to play, especially if you're a Star Wars fan, but it'll make more sense having played KOTOR first.

"The Greatest Star Wars RPG Out There!", The best way to put it is that this sequel more than lives up to its predecessor. This game had me intrigued and interested for about a week (on account of the fact that I couldn't stop playing and finished it in that time). I played one hundred hours and beat it in that time. Getting that done in a week is a true accomplishment for me, because I never seemed to be able to finish RPGs. I always got bored halfway through. This game had me on the edge of my seat the entire one hundred hours. The score for this game kept the eerie moments going with no problem.

Ok, the bottom line is that this game is a must-buy for all Star Wars and RPG fans. If you're not huge on RPGs, it's still a great game to play. Buy this game. You won't regret it.

"A sequel that lives up to its predecessor", If you liked the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, then you won't be disappointed by KOTOR II: The Sith Lords.

KOTOR II builds upon the solid foundation of KOTOR and brings some new elements to the table to keep things fresh.

One of my favourite new features is companion Influence. This allows you to build (or neglect) relationships with your fellow adventurers and these relationships have an impact on the direction of the game. You can even bring your companions into the Force and train them as Jedi, provided your influence is high enough.

Another great addition is the Prestige Classes. Accessible later in the game, they allow you to further develop your own character beyond the basic Sentinel-Consular-Guardian classes.

While still absolutely playable even if you haven't experienced the original, I would have to say that the story is pretty closely tied to events of the first game and you will get more out of the sequel if you've played the original.

"Knights of the Old, really. ", Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is a good game, but it suffers from the same defect as many sequels: its predecessor was a truly fantastic game. Part of the first game's beauty was the seamless integration of real time combat and a simple to use and understand interface. While still a good game in its own right, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II suffers on a couple of fronts. First, the graphics are inferior to the original game. The story is less compelling, and while neat, the level of customization available for items can detract from the enjoyment of the game. Itemization can be frustrating. The interface is not as user friendly. There is too much information, and the details take away from the enjoyment of the game, rather than helping to immerse you in the game world. Character skills are more important and at the same time marginalized. Plot lines take much longer to develop and personally did not have the same resonance as the first game.

However, even though the above was true for me, I still find myself playing this game frequently. Unlike the first game, however, I will only play this one time. Had this game come first and first game as the sequel, I'm sure my opinion would have been different. While good, this product failed only in that it had to follow in the footsteps of a superior offering from BioWare, creators of innovative and fun games.

"More Plot Twists! More Jedi Powers! New Planets!", Reviewed for Big Boss Games by: bargainzandmore

Knights of the Old Republic II, A.K.A. the Sith Lords or K.O.T.O.R. II. This game rocks!

The saga continues unveiling even more plot twists from the first KOTOR. Be a Jedi or a dark Sith, it's up to you, and your friends will ally with you either way.

Wield new force powers that weren't available in the first game, & explore new planets.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this game a 9.6. I've never seen a perfect game. It's only available for the XBOX game console.
