"It does an OK job.", I got this product with the idea of repairing CD/DVD media with easy. But that wasn't the case. The system will fix lite scratches from the media but not the deep ones. And a major problem with this device is that you have to put pressure down the lid for it to work "the latches that hold the lid close don't work very well". Sorry but I don't recommend this product.

"Can you say Junk?", Sounded like a good idea but it never worked the way I thought it would... there is a place not far from home that fixes DVDs for a dollar... my advice is to go that route. Find someone to fix your discs for you. This is not worth your time or your money!

"Many users don't understand how disc cleaning works", This is a great product, the only bad reviews it should have is if it is missing accessories or the motor breaks. Anything but that, I have a few things to clarify here.

1) This product, like many others, will only repair light scratches. If the scratch goes on deeper than the polycarbonate layer on the disc or is on the top side of the disk (aka If light can shine through it), then it's pretty much FUBAR and you would have to throw it away because the data is permanently corrupted. Always remember to put your discs back into their cases. That's what cases were designed for.

2) Use the yellow pad for tiny scratches and the pink pad for the much bigger ones and don't forget to always use the blue buffer pad afterwards. People will just run their disc through once and expect it working like magic. Nothing's that easy. Also, don't forget to wipe any dust or dirt off of the disc before you put it in the machine. The particles will be rubbed against the outer protective layer, making it worse.

3) People who've posted reviews have complained about their discs having more scratches, in a round radial pattern. This is what it is supposed to do! The radial pattern scratch helps the laser bypass the previous scratches on the disc itself and does not affect the disc at all. If you don't believe me, google up a website on CD Technology and read for yourself.

4) This doesn't technically remove the scratches 100%, it just makes them readable. It's not guaranteed to completely remove every scratch but it will still play. If you're that obsessive-compulsive and want every scratch off of it, then go and fork out $500 for an industrial CD buffer and then go seek therapy.

I've used this product many times (The correct way) and it has always worked for me for my DVDs and Xbox 360 games except a couple of gouged discs that were a result of a major accident. I advise against using it for microdiscs or Gamecube games.

"Does what it says", This prodiuct does a great job at fixing dvd's. I have 4 children and they are very tough on movies, games and music. This product fixes most of the issues.

"Does Not Work!", I had two CD's which skipped a little bit while playing. Nothing huge where the CD stops or jumps to the next song. The CD would skip a few seconds in a song, thats it. So, after reading the rave reviews on this product I was sure this was going to be a fix. What a failure this is. It did nothing to improve the skips on the CD's. I even tried following some of the other customer directions from this site because they say their methods work better than the instruction manual. Like one of the customers who thought his method would work on page 2 I tried his method by trying to repair each CD for up to 2 hours! 2 hours! That is a ridiculously long time to repair one CD and since I had nothing else to do last night I tried it. You guessed it, didnt do a dam thing to improve the CD. What a waste of money.

"Just didnt cut it", I really was expecting this product to work for me. I hav 3 xbox games, 2 my kids scratched up and the other just stopped loading and had no visible damage. I ran them thru multiple times. Then I went online and found the games for $3.99 and $7.99 and Halo was $9.99 for a new copy,at a used game center. I hope Aleratec takes it back and refunds my mony,Im still gonna lose shipping both ways, That dont seem fair.

"What a rip-off...", I was so disappointed in this gadget. We had a lot of DVD's that had gotten pretty hard use from our two toddlers. The kit did buff out some of the scratches, and cleaned the discs, but did not buff out all. (It didn't buff out teeth marks, either, but maybe that's expectign too much?) Anyway, it failed the ultimate test - movies that were problematic before still skip and/or stall. The repair discs are basically ultra-fine grit sand paper, and only lasted about 3 discs before getting completely stripped. I think the movies I used a fresh disc on did come out improved, but by the time you buy the gadget and the accessories, you might as well just buy a new $10 movie....Don't waste your money!

"Great for my Xbox 360", I love playing my Xbox 360, but the model I have likes to make these light circular scratches in my game discs, making it so you can't load certain portions of a game. (By the way, the "standard" response to this is that the scratches come from moving the 360 console while the disc is spinning--I have NEVER once done this--my unit has been in a permanent and stable horizontal position and yet several of my games have received these scratches--my unit is out of warranty though).

When my beloved Bioshock game got scratched and refused to load a specific level, I finally couldn't take it any more. I ordered this product out of desperation to try and get the disc working. I put the game through just one 3 minute repair cycle and popped it back into the 360 to test. To my absolute joy, it loaded up perfectly!!! I do not see the scratches on the disc, they appear to have been perfectly filled by a couple drops of the repair solution and the buffing process. I am so happy to have this thing, it basically means I don't have to buy a new 360 or replace super-expensive games!

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the instruction manual is mediocre and irritated me a couple times. But this is a very minor complaint--the unit did what I prayed it would even easier than I thought possible. So happy!

"It Works!", Briefly....this thing works great! I have had mine for 3 years now and it has cleaned and repaired hundreds of discs.The real test was repairing the Playstation games my Grandkids brought over...they were scratched terribly! Some took 2 or 3 cycles, but ALL were brought to working condition.
Tip: If you have a real bad disc, use the little wheel that you can do by hand to polish first, then use the machine.

"Amazing", I just finished cleaning, buffing, and repairing over 120 CDs. I own a bar and thru a recent spring cleaning I found a ton of music that we used to play with a DJ. This was over 4 years ago that we used this music and there was all sort of sound from concrete blonde, nsync and european techno. I mean a really weird array that came from who knows where. Some was left by old employees or customers, some was new, and much was from used music stores.

All of the cd's had been used hard, and treated as though the dj didn't care (like a big 4 year old with a cocktail) there were scratches, gouges, and gunk of unknown origins. Well, a week of downloading this music onto itunes, tediously checking each cd and determining whether it needed simple cleaning or the all out repairing I have only one thing to say...

This little machine took care of all the cds. Only two were not able to be repaired. Ironically they were both Santana, and I'm sure that if I'd sent them thru the process of repairing again it would have done the trick. Unfortunately with such a monontous task I didn't much care if I got the entire cd or just up to the bad song.

I told my husband many times that I can't believe that I hadn't purchased this sooner. I shopped and chose this one because it looked like it would store in a smaller space than the other one. It is flat therefore in my life that means I can stack other junk on it when it is not in use. And this is not a product that I will use daily. More like my sewing maching after there is a stack of clothes that need to be repaired, this will sit until I have a stack of discs to repair. But it does repair. I can't say enough how well it works.

The machine is intuitive to use and the wheels are a snap to change. The other factor that made me get this is that replacement wheels and kits are easy to get.

I would recomend this with the glee of someone who has completed a task that has saved her tons of money, and didn't have one glitch to slow me down.

PS. I also repaired two DVDs...perfectly :o)
