"A Most Cohesive Experience"
Resident Evil 4 shuns some of the frustrating mechanics of previous RE games in favor of pure adventure gameplay. The plot is decent and the enemies memorable, but the real draw of the game is its ability to draw you forward. Each section of the game is a setpiece, meaning that each level, populated with original enemies and memorable scripted events lingers in the memory long after you play it. Upgrading your weapons and equipment is addictive and finding strategies to conserve ammo is a must and quite enjoyable. The experience is loaded with minigames and bonus games. Probably my favorite single-player experience of all time.

"An amazing game that revolutionizes both the Resident Evil series and the survival horror genre."
Nearly everyone who has played Resident Evil 4 will tell you at the very least that it was a welcome change to the survival horror genre. While some may not agree with the Game of the Year title, most will at least agree that the game is great, and a much needed step forward.

The graphics are extraordinary. It pushes the Gamecube to its limits. I'd go as far to say that it can hold its own against most console games around today. As far as it pushes the Gamecube, it still holds a solid frame rate throughout the game. The art design is well done, very dark and gloomy with some extremely gory moments.

The sound is awesome. Its high quality, and very creepy. All of the action sounds crisp, and I personally think that the gunshots sound exceptional. The sound alone can scare you, there's no real need for the insane Portuguese people, well okay, maybe there is.

The game play is where this game really shines. Its the awesome survival horror game play we all know and love, but revolutionized. There's an all new over the shoulder camera angle that is a huge improvement over the old traditional ones. The game controls perfect, and in combination with the new camera angle it makes the game amazingly fun. There's also the integration of action sequenced cut scenes and the almighty chainsaw. The storyline is a good length, and will keep you entertained for a while.

Lets face it here folks, even if you're a Gamecube hater, this game deserved Game of the Year. Plus, I don't what people are complaining about as the game is now also available on Playstation 2 and Wii. If you're a fan of survival horror, you will probably love this game.

"Perfect"
Frankly, after having been severely underwhelmed playing R.E. 3 through on the PS1 years ago, I was having a hard time buying into the hype for this game. But...it's true: this has to be one of the greatest video games ever. Even though I don't game that much anymore and never cared for the survival/horror genre, this game is unbelievable; it's perfectly balanced, fun, beautifully rendered, scary, inventive, all the superlatives--one of the most satisfying wastes of my time ever. I'm glad to see that it made it over to the PS2 and then over to the Wii. It's strange that despite having such a played-out plot (saving a damsel in distress from Spanish quasi-zombies) this game will certainly stand the test of time and be top-ranked for ages. Buy it. And if you only have a newer PS3 or XBOX/360, hit ebay up for a system that supports it.

"Resident Evil 4"
This game is so scary. Sometimes I say to myself it's just a game. The most memorable moments in the game is when you head towards the house and you have to block all the doors and windows with bookshelf and tables. and then the zombies come in. Man was that freaky! I hope Resident Evil 5 is good. But for now this was a great game that everyone who still has a gamecube should pick up.

"The Ultimate RE adventure!",

7 Years since the incident in Raccoon City, Leon Kennedy has joined the U.S. Government as an agent. His mission is to find the president's lovely daughter named Ashley, she was abducted by a vicious cult to Spain where she has been taken. Now Leon must try to find her but somewhere in a remote village, he discovers that the townsfolk are turned into mindless killer brutes infected by parasites which are far more worst then any zombie he encountered before. Now it's up to Leon to find out what is behind these atrocities including trying to find Ashley as he fights against the crazed parasitic folks and other hideous mutant freaks for this has became a nightmare for him.

This installment of the brilliant Resident Evil series is the greatest one yet! this one features awesome 3-D Polygonal graphics that gives it a realistic touch, brillaintly detailed backgrounds and settings. Of course this one gives you an over-the-shoulder point of view of Leon as you struggle to kill the infected folks and the monsters, the action in this game is well paced and quite gory including some exploding heads here. There's Camera moving, hit zone aiming static where you can easily hit the target on the enemy with laser, imaginative creatures that defy nature, a cute blonde girl heroine, and even great cinematic sequences. The Storyline is very good as it gives us something different in the franchise unlike any of the previous games had especially instead of Zombies this time, the music score is just creepy and there's even a few familar faces in this game like Ada Wong. In this game you even get to push buttons during some parts where they command you to and whenever an enemy dies they will give you prizes like money and stuff where you can buy stuff from merchants.

The gameplay is quite addictive and it's a hell of alot of fun, this is one of the best games ever made and one of the best i've ever played. I strongly recommend this game.

"Simply put, a masterpiece.", I'll keep it concise:

RE4 takes many of the best elements of multiple genres and combines them into a tense, compelling, addictive, challenging, and gratifyingly gory experience. I'm actually buying a Gamecube so I can play this game (own a PC and Xbox 360 currently) -- it's that good.

If you're not bothered by violence in your video games, then grab this one. It's masterfully made and could easily provide a hundred hours of gameplay if you get into the mini-games and special unlockables.

I've played a LOT of games on many consoles... trust me when I say that this is one of the select few that any gamer MUST experience! It's worth the investment to get a GameCube or PS2 if only to be able to play this game. Seriously. It's awesome.

The only downside is that once you've played a game like this, you'll be a little dissatisfied with almost anything you play afterward. Your standards for a 'great game' will be irreversibly raised.

"Fantastic", I can't decide which I like best. This RE or the remade original for the GC. Oh well who cares. I'll just keep playing them both. Great Game. Makes owning a Nintendo worth it.

"AWESOME!!", If you somehow dont have this for game for some reason,GET IT,don't listen to BULL,a great step forward with the combat feature helps to save bullets, ever get annoyed trying to remember where your going, the map is a great idea, the guns, the bosses, the storyline,MATERPIECE!! THE BEST!!

"Leon Saves Ashley... Again... and Again.", So I'm not much of a gamer. This review might be useless to the die hard gamers who obviously loved this game, but I think it might appeal to casual fans of gaming. I've played my fair share of video games, both sensationally senseless fun ones and more serious ones like this, so I think I'll be able to give this a fair rating.

THE GAME: Very easy gameplay. The control one has over shooting, slashing, and walking is very comfortable and realistic. The areas are expansive, which is good if you plan on playing multiple times. One will definitely develop more familiarity with each of the levels each time they replay, but I thought that the maps were a bit complex and confusing to totally get the first time. Again, that added to the realism but it also brought the fun factor down a bit when you're wandering aimlessly looking for the next place to go. Overall, the boss battles were fair. The majority of them were hard enough to challenge you, but not hard enough to get you cursing and giving up. Because if you can't beat 'em, but go to the dude with the blue torch and get a rocket launcher. Indeed, the blue torch guy is a merchant who sells guns, health, maps, and carrying space, and he comes in very handy. Those guys as well as save points are spread out fairly. While I felt the game could have been shorter--the initial outdoor area dragged on for entirely too long--it was a good and obviously well thought out experience.

STORY: It's a bit shabby. It's less about zombies and more about a crazy cult with many monsters and more ambition, which is of course more epic, but the general plot left a lot to be desired. The majority of the game is looking for Ashley, finding her, getting her taken away, looking for her again, finding her, etc. The various villains add a bit of spice, but it was a bit cheesy that there were so many Major Villains that were set up to be the Big Boss before the real Big Boss was revealed. Again, it just seemed like things could have been tightened to make the story better. Also, the dialogue? Sad fact, someone got paid to write that atrocious dialogue.

COMPARED TO OTHER "RESIDENT EVIL" GAMES: Much better. Less monotony, more variety. While I missed the more personal creepiness of walking through a scary house infected with zombies, this is definitely a better game.

COMPARED TO ALL VIDEO GAMES: Fair. Not as ground-breakingly great as some of the reviews I've read say, but definitely still a game worth your time.

7/10

"I can't stop playing!", This is the best game I have ever played. Hands down the most fun. A bit scary at times. Challenging, but not to the point of being so hard that it is more frustrating than fun. I am a huge fan of Metroid, and have beat/finished them all. This game, for me, is more fun to play. The weapons are great. The puzzles are challenging. All around great game. I am on my 4th reply. It is that good! P.S. The story line is very good. It's like being in a movie!

"Horror Masterpiece", Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo GameCube is a masterpiece of a game that has gotten MASSIVE critical acclaim. If you're a fan of the previous RE titles, this will be different that what you're used to. While still technically a survival horror game, it is now also part action third-person shooter, with adventure elements. The game also uses the over-the-shoulder camera method, and you can aim with a laser pointer in all directions, as opposed to just up and down in the previous games in the series. Another huge change are the main enemies. The RE series has been known for fighting zombies, but they are not in this game. Instead, you fight Los Ganados (The Cattle), which are regular Spaniards that haave been corrupted and controlled by a parasite called Las Plagas (The Plague). They are much smarter and tougher than the previous zombies.

Story is simple, you are Leon Scott Kennedy 10 years after the events of RE 2. The President's daughter has been kidnapped in Spain, and you are sent to save her.

When it comes to the GC, graphics don't get much better than this. I feel it even looks as good as some games in the current seventh-generation.

Gameplay wise, this game is simply fantastic. As I said before, this is more of a third-person shooter than its predecessors, but it transits very well.

This game has high replay value, as well. If you beat the game, you can start a new file with the same weapons, upgrades, ammo, money, and health as you were in the last game. You can also buy weapons like the Infinite Launcher, which obviously has an endless supply of rocket launcher missiles, and the Chicago Typewriter, an extremely fun to use weapon with infinite ammo. I've beaten the game 3 times, and I'm still going.

I'd say the challenge level is medium/above average. The enemy known as th Regenerator (possibly the most well-known enemy in the game, and also the closet to zombies this game gets to) is onl able to be killed by shooting leech-shaped Plagas while using an infrared scope on a rifle. They also have deep, sickly breathing that is sure to make you at least say "WTF is that?" when you first see it.

Overall, Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror masterpiece, definitely recommended for those who like action games. RE purists might not like the style, but it's still worth playing.

Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 10/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Overall: 10/10

"One of the best games I've ever played", I have always enjoyed the Resident Evil games, and the controls haven't really bothered me that much. This game, however, surpasses all of the previous RE games. I really can't imagine the controls being any easier, and the graphics are amazing. The best part, as it should be, is the gameplay. The "bad guys" are pretty smart, and very creepy. The first chainsaw dude that appeared in the game scared the heebie-jeebies out of me! The story was good, and the game kept me interested all the way through till the end. I recommend this game to everyone, even those who don't really care for horror games (but can stand the blood!).

"Easily the Best GC Title!", Well, this is my THIRD review for Resident Evil 4. (First on the Wii, then on the PS2, and now finally on the Gamecube.) I must say, this version holds it's own AMAZINGLY well. The graphics are better than the PS2 version, and the controls are a LOT easier than the Wii version. Even despite the console differences, this game manages to holds it's own better than any other game I've played. RE4 will go down in history as the scariest, most addictive, most absolutely memorable game of all time... (along with the Halo Series, the Mario Series, the Tony Hawk Series etc.......) If you have a Game Cube this is a game you won't want to miss.

"The best game for Gamecube...Period.", No other game comes close. Even friends of mine who were not fans of the Resident Evil genre, went out and bought this one. The story line is good, the graphics top notch, and the playability are all here.
