"A lovely place to visit ..."
I haven't gone very far in Myst Uru, Complete Chronicles -- my style is to play slowly (2-3 times per week, for an hour or two) and to enjoy the scenery and the adventure. In this, Uru doesn't disappoint -- it is visually quite lovely, the puzzles are intriguing (some harder than others, but hints abound), and the interface isn't too clunky. If you are into action, this probably isn't for you, but if you like adventure games, exploring, and solving puzzles, you could certainly do worse! I originally saw this item "on sale" at Ubisoft for a ridiculously low price ($5, I think), but they were "all out, and not getting any more" -- I didn't mind paying a bit more for the copy I eventually bought.

"Best of the Series"
Uru is the most involving and dynamic game of the Myst series and the expansion packs just add to the depth of the game.
If you're a fan of the series or just a gamer looking to challeng your mind URU: Complete, is a definate must buy.

"Even though I haven't played it yet..."
...my expectations are high. I have played 3 of the Myst games and loved all of them.

"Excellent"
This is a game talking about the worlds beyond Myst, but connected with it. Those worlds are connected with the story of Atrus and his people. His family and his friends. It's a long game and with lots to do. You can build your own character, named and has freedom to walk around and be curious. Uru takes you to cyties that Atrus talked about in Myst saga. Uru, the deep city, D'ni and neighborhood. You see beautiful places and meet Yeesha, Atrus' daughter, who is a woman with a gift. You will start at New Mexico's desert and will go on from there, to find the door to those places. You will see what happened to all those empty cities and will find information about Myst, Atrus and family. Yes, there are linking books, but the fun about this game is learning about those great civilizations no longer there. And the efforts done to bring them back. It's beautiful, and like every Myst game, this is not an action game, it's an adventure, almost like being an archeologist. I loved it, although it wasn't Myst itself.

"About as good as the original Myst or Riven"
This game is very true to the previous editions of the Myst quest. If you enjoyed those you will enjoy this.

"Awesome game!", Please see my other review for Uru for more details, but this version of Uru is better in that it contains every expansion pack offered for Uru. It adds several new and fascinating Ages, and although it still doesn't contain some of the Ages (worlds) offered when Uru Live was online, it's still very worth checking out. For parents, if you have a teenager that will play this, you're lucky, because it takes a special kind of intellect to appreciate this game.

"Complete Chronicles completes the journey", I had played URU before but never got to play the extensions. Not only have they added a dimension to the game, I think URU itself has been updated. Great fun!

"Got bored instantly", I had just had surgery and wanted to keep occupied while recovering. I had really enjoyed the first two Myst games. I carefully read the reviews here and decided to give it a try.
I doubt I will ever make it past the 2nd level. I quit just a few hours into it out of sheer apathy. I'm just not intrigued. Despite the detailed ability to dress/create your character I felt disconnected from any narrative. Also, you can't handle certain things. You can, in one sequence kick a piece of wood out of the way, but you cannot otherwise move it. This just seems lame. Wanted to like it, but didn't.

"Great place to visit but...", Uru is a great place to visit but this way it's now a barely living skeleton. To see Uru truly alive again come visit Myst Online: Uru Live at gametap where it truly lives!

"Myst Uru: Complete Chronicles", Another must have if your into the Myst games! The Larghe's

"The game that brought Myst to an end . . .", I played this and enjoyed it because of the 3d fully immersing environment. What I did not know until reading up on the official website, was that the production of this game ruined Cyan financially.
As good as it was, for that reason alone I wish they had not made it. Now we must be satisfied with the travesty of Myst 5 as the last game, and that appears to be scraped over remnants that didn't make it into Uru Live.
The whole franchise totally jumped shark. Far from deepening the awesome storyline about the D'ni and the ability to write your way into infinite worlds, they copped out and just changed the story to wrap it up faster.
In this game you start to get the idea that the Myst universe is going awry. As fun as it was to FINALLY get to roam around D'ni, it was very annoying to want to go through a door that appeared to lead somewhere else and not be able to. They also hinted at a race of creatures that actually run the Ages but were the slaves of the D'ni, totally disregarding carefully wrought canon of 15 years.
Uh . . . where were these slaves in the three books, or the last 3 games for that matter? They introduce the Bahro in this game by way of stones and then as a race of dinosaur-monkey creatures in Myst 5. Warning: this is a bad concept that ruins the mystery and compelling story of Myst. It leaves a feeling of let-down and anticlimax and I had to surf the 'net to find out why and what the heck happened.
The reason for this is Uru Live, a failed online project that sucked Cyan's capital dry and has forced them to end the whole thing on a sour note. It began in 1999 or so as 'Mudpie' an overly optimistic vision of fully online gaming that they simply failed to deliver, either through fan disinterest or because their execution was (and is) flawed. Enjoy Uru for the swan song that it is.
The fans have attempted to resurrect the live play on servers of their own, but it's `on again, off again' and is not supported by Cyan. Uru was to be the main core of a totally online gaming experience, and when response from the fans was nil, they reworked this game into a stand-alone with two expansion packs. The remains that were unincorporated into this game were thrown together and became Myst 5. This is why when you reach the Great shaft, all you can do is jump off the edge and see a brief image of the bottom. You don't get to explore it until Myst V, and by then it has no point and leads nowhere. I warn you not to play Myst 5, keep the mystery that was deepened in this game, before the 'truth' of the dinosaur-monkey creatures brings it all crashing down. Also, the characters of Atrus and Yeesha were utterly destroyed. They both become whining miserable wretches. See Myst 5 reviews for details concerning that. So between ruining their characters and destroying the fascinating concept of linking to Ages (and D'ni civilization) my enjoyment of this game is somewhat muted.
RIP Myst.

"Love it!", I'm a girl. Not a young girl, but definitely female in form and content. So the Myst series of games have had great appeal to me. But. A fairly large figurative BUT. As a girl, I was stymied and put off when the games moved in to the realm of mechanics and mathematics. Not that I couldn't "do" them, it just was fun to do in an escapist game. I loved the gardens of Riven and would often just stay there, wishing some portal would open up and allow me to game in an environment such as that, where I could use other skills to find, discover keys or important game elements. I was enjoying Myst IV until it got into the "male" mechanical mode. I stopped and tried URU, the complete chronicles. Whoa! and WOW!
Finally a game for me! Thank you, Yeesha! I must admit the portions where I had to climb along narrow trails upon great heights scared the crap out of me as I do have a great fear of heights, and my heart would pound in my chest as I completed those tasks. But the rest of the game has been a joy! Puzzles I can complete without totally cheating! Oh, admit it! we all have to refer to some of those hint or cheat sites to get through the game. But with this installment of the series, even when told what I must do, I still had to do it! Jump from high heights upon a narrow ledge, or swim against a raging current! The game has not only been fun, but what a sense of accomplishment I have felt in being able to complete tasks I could NOT do in real life! Love it!
I am now in the third part of the package: To D'Ni. The scenery throughout has been gorgeous, though not as technically perfect as Riven; I think those graphic artists wore themselves out completely in that task! I love running around finding things, which I am very good at doing! And, for that small skill I am rewarded! I love the little "home" world we are given, Relto, and that our rewards go to fixing up the place. I still am unable to get one reward, which requires some jumping skills--jumping up a short distance--but do enjoy going back to try and try again. I'll get that goody. I'll get that goody! I do suggest, and not as an advertisement for them, but I do suggest going to Universal Hint System for your hints, as they do give hints to help, rather than just straight out answers, though with some really difficult puzzles they will at the very end, give the answer, either in word or picture. A very good resource!
The price these days is just perfect as is the game. Whether of the male or female persuasion, I heartily recommend this packaged set of Myst games!

"Fell short from a great heigth", I got my 6 year old son in to the world of Myst!!! What a great game to share with the kids. However, Myst Uru, was too convaluted and drawn out. Sure the environments, the worlds were incredible, but the tasks and the exploration were somewhat flat and uninspiring. Also, I wish they'd would've lessen the reading you had to do througout the game. Like those awful "notebooks" left behind by the workers. Geez, it got to the point where I was so bored with it. The Path of the Shell, I guess that's what it's called, is pretty confusing and sometimes I was left with a question as to what was the ultimate goal? I didn't get to finish the game not because I didn't like it, but because I finished just the Myst Uru game and not the Path of the Shell or the Path to D'ni, which was also a path that led to nowhere. There were times when I and my son had solved a puzzle and we got excited about that, but unfortunately those times were far and few between. I feel that Myst, Riven, Exile and Revelation were much better games. I am looking to purchase Myst 5 End of Ages and bring some closure to the series. I hear that they went back to that 1st person, which is better anyway.

My advice on this game is to get it, but be aware that it may not fill you with satisfaction. But, I got the game really cheap on Amazon, so it wasn't that big a deal. Thanks for reading.

"The Deviant", If you're looking for your traditional myst interface URU seriously breaks from it. I haven't really had time to play it to much since the interface is somewhat detering me.

"LOVED THIS GAME!", The scenerey is beautiful. You can change her cloths and appearence even. I keep hoping Myst will make another game like it. It is in the 3rd person and I think it's better than all the other Myst games put together!
