"Very Addicting"
LSL: Magna Cum Laude is not only loaded with blatant sexual humor, but it has great graphics and great game-play.

The graphical detail and camera angles are akin to that of the two latest Simpson's games. The controls are in the standard WSAD + Mouse configuration.

The fun part is that the game is "intelligent" and thus adjusts difficulty on the fly. For example, if the player does exceptionally well on two or three games of Quarters, the computer will improve its accuracy and tolerance. Also, based on the level of alcohol in Larry's body, the computer will either speed up certain games or slow down the keyboard input on other games.

LSL: Magna Cum Laude is full of humourous twists and out-rageous turns in the plot. However, to appreciate these twists and turns in their utmost glory, one must purchase LSL: MCL Uncut & Uncensored.

"Not enough Leisure"
Yes...the babes are hot...but the game is not.

The graphics are supurb...but the adventure is not.

Lots of repetition. Playing "Quarters", mixing drinks, dancing, & trampoline contests get dull after awhile.

Mindless conversations with the babes that are sometimes too hard to win.

Could have been better.

"BUY THE UNCUT UNCENSORED VERSION!!"
The uncut uncensored version is 10 times better than this one. Having them curse and swear and showing CGI boobies, need to go with the uncut version for the total LSL experience... uncut version is by far 5 stars!!

"Where's Al Lowe?"
I notice that there's no mention of Al Lowe anywhere from Sierra. Here's the simple truth - if the genius creator of LSL's 1 - 6 is missing, then this isn't an LSL game at all - just a cheap rip off.

Message to pointy-haired bosses at Sierra: You can buy the LSL concept. You can buy Larry's image. But if you don't have Al Lowe, you don't have anything.

"What happened to the humor of Larry Laffer??"
Well....what can I say. This is the worst Larry game ever. I had so much fun with all of the other ones, from Land of the Lounge Lizards to Love for Sail...I have played them all (sometimes several times each) and had a ball. The games were actually funny and enjoyable back when you needed to use your wits, not your joystick hand (pun intended!)to have a good time.

This version, however is not only boring, but repetitive and crass. Where, in previous Larry adventures, the sexual humor was witty, here it is just crude and obnoxious. It takes quite a lot to offend me, but this game has done it. I played it for a very short while before uninstalling it...I have NEVER done that before with a game and I have played dozens and dozens, some not so great, but never bad enough not to finish.

Another very annoying thing is the screen loading. Every time you try to do anything, (talk to a girl, play a game, enter a building, etc...) you have to wait several seconds for the screen to load. What a pain!

It was much better when Larry was an inventory/adventure game.

All I can say is this: if you like to play very poorly designed arcade games, and you like to hear the "F" word a lot, you'll like this game. Otherwise, don't waste your money.

What our customer's say!

"Lacking", First off for clarification: There is -NO- sex in this game, the most daring thing is full frontal nudity. Unlocking all the extras and stuff just unlocks nudity and puzzles.

The game is lacking on all levels. The puzzles are too simple and shallow, and the commentary is boring. The older ones where more interesting, but I never much liked them ether.

By the way nudity is the only difference between the regular and uncut versions.

"Not a bad time Killer", This is a good game if your bored! :)

"Not worth the trouble", If you are up late at night, and don't mind the difficulty in installing the software, and you want nothing more than crude humor, and don't have cable television, this is your game.

Otherwise, there are much better ways to spend your time.

"Wrong Game!!!", I ordered the Uncensored and Uncut Adults Only Version and recieved the mature version, if i wanted that i could have bought it at wal-mart. So i hope they fix that problem with me promptly, otherwise a smooth transaction!

"not as good as the previous versions", not as good as the previous version of this software

"An enjoyable sexual escapade & 1 of the best games of 2004!!", "Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude" is the first LSL game in about 8 years, and also the first to cross over from the personal computer to home video game platforms on the Playstation 2 & XBox. As a fan of old Sierra games (even though I was too young to have played the early LSL games), I was incredibly pleased to see the series resurrected and brought to new heights!

Important note: "Magna Cum Laude: Uncut & Uncensored" has now been released, and it features full frontal nudity and none of the pesky "censorship bars" that are present in this version.

Obviously, nudity is the main selling point of this game. Anyone who says otherwise is trying too hard to justify his or her purchase. The college co-eds are voluptuous, they are animated in a sexy, often provocative, ways, and the main quest of the game is to get Larry laid. Because of the time and attention put into creating realistic (though cute in an almost-anime way), this game is more titilating than any of the "Dead or Alive" series of fighting games, more fun than any of the WWE wrestling video games that feature the so-called "Bra & Panties" matches, and the females are more desirable than Lara Croft ever has been.

The women are mostly stereotypical "college girls" -- we have the head cheerleader Barbara Jo Bimbo (B.J. for short), the Italian castoff from "The Sopranos" Analisa, the Russian exchange student Zanna, the hot but nerdy college professor Beatrice, and so on. Chasing after each woman requires different approaches, and the result is never the same twice. And no, Larry *does not* get with all these babes. I hate to spoil it for you, but he only has actual intercourse a few times during the entire game. But every encounter is sexy, funny, and most importantly, packed full of eye candy!

The gameplay is fun. It is not very involving and has been criticized for being mostly a string of "mini-games." That is true; however, the variety of the games keeps it interesting as you progress through the storyline. The script is absolutely hilarious, and the comedy is equal to the nudity as a selling point for this game. If you are a guy, or even a gal who likes to laugh at guys, you will laugh at Larry and the things coming out of his mouth. He rambles on a lot, gets off-topic, tries horrible pickup lines, lies constantly, and even staggers around drunk and farts. If you've ever known a man who made you laugh simply because he was, to quote Steve Martin, "a wild and crazy guy," then you will enjoy the story of Magna Cum Laude. And the voice acting is wonderful; there is not a bad actor or actress in this entire game.

Now a few words on the Mature Audiences rating: This game is about sex, breasts, drinking, jokes, and other things guys find enjoyable. For some people, this is disturbing. Those people need to get a life. I can play Grand Theft Auto, in which my character is able to walk down any street and at any moment cut off the head of a pedestrian with a sword. Or gun down dozens of policemen, only to enter a cheat code and get away with it all at the last possible minute. Yet somehow, the ESRB (game ratings board) finds Larry's girlfriends more offensive when they drop their panties. Give us a break! Violence is much more detrimental to society & to teenagers than sex is, and yet we still can't get over our fear of pixelated private parts. It's ridiculous!

All in all, I give "LSL: Magna Cum Laude" a totally positive recommendation to anyone old enough to purchase it. It is definitely one of the best games of 2004 simply because it is like nothing else on the market today: a fun, sexy romp through college life. 5 stars! 2 thumbs up! Just buy it!

"A Game of Mini-Games", The old Leisure Suit Larry games were inventive, testing what society would accept in terms of a game. The sex-oriented humor was the main staple of course, coupled with an adventure styled game. Magna Cum Laude has none of the adventuring, and the humor is far less subtle or inventive. The game is made up of several mini-games, and while they are mildly entertaining for about 15 minutes, they do not a Leisure Suit Larry game make. Sierra should be ashamed of itself. On top of that, now they want to release an "uncut and uncensored" version. Who are they kidding? Most of the options are in plain text files.

"An Insult To That Which Was Larry", If you are looking at this game because you enjoyed the original LSL series, know that this is not in the same calibur. The games are simple and repetitive. Certainly not the complex and amusing puzzles of the original. Some of the mini-story lines are amusing but overall it is not that original or entertaining.

"Get the PS2 Version! 12 year old gamer", I rented Leisure Suit Larry being as it takes about one week to beat while playing one hour a day. This game was a mediocre game and didn't live up to the others. On the PC version you have to download patches online via google for nudity which is the driving force for most people including myself, but there is nudity in the videos. My mom was watching over my back so I often had to go back and watch the videos when she wasn't home. But this is a fun game and can be interesting at times, but the minigames are repetitive!! How many times is it fun to toss a quearter in a cup? But I definitely wouldn't buy this game, rent it!! And Nigel (the guy you can buy the nudity from) is all over the game. A must rent!!

"Still Larry After All These Years", I've enjoyed the quirky humor of previous Larry games, and I've followed them long enough that I've become nostalgic. So I was oddly happy to know that another Larry was coming along. This is a different Larry, because this is the first Larry that isn't a creation of Al Lowe. (Check out his web site at AlLowe.com). The absence of Lowe adds a political element to some of the commentary: Some people are of a mindset to dislike this game because they wanted Lowe to be a part of it. I think Lowe's participation would have been nice, but I'm willing to let the game speak for itself.

Bottom line is it satisfies me. It has the elements I've enjoyed in the earlier games and in life itself: The search for elusive satisfaction in a kooky world. It's raunchier than its predecessors but, like its predecessors, it's not a source of true erotic gratification. The game play consists of traipsing through the University and its surrounding community, bringing together the bits and pieces that move towards the greater goal of being a contestant on a dating show. Each element involves a short series of mini-games. There are 5 or 6 different types of mini-games, and they are repackaged for each encounter (for example, in the "service four lines" mini-game scenario, at one point you'll be passing out beer bottles to four lines of people in a bar, and later passing out fliers to four lines of people on the campus quad), and the repetition can become tedious. But if you persist, you'll either get better at these games, or alternatively you can spend "secret tokens" to "win" the current mini-game and move along. Meanwhile, there are many amusing details of the terrain to be explored and exploited.

There's an alternate version of this game, the "uncut and uncensored" package, that costs a few dollars more. I haven't seen it, and I've got mixed feelings about whether it's a good idea. On one hand, I'm curious; on the other hand, I don't expect gratification from a video game, so subtlety might be more effective. Sometimes less is more. And the standard game does grant you the ability to "buy" selective increases in the level of exposure by paying "secret tokens" to some of the shady characters who are found around the campus.

I'm glad Larry made it to the new millennium. If he shows up again, I'll buy that too.

Presumably it's not necessary to mention that Larry is for mature audiences only. Of course, if you were mature, you wouldn't be playing, would you?
