"It's ok .. trying to get used to Mac is hard though. :/"
Got my package real fast was great. The program itself is fine, I am just trying to get used to using a Mac instead of the PC.

"Great price, no issues"
I got a great price on Office Mac and it was shipped when it said it would. Great experience.

"Canadian price is *double*"
What a rip-off! The US price is $339.99 and the Canadian price is over $600? Why the difference? To make it worse, the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar at this point. Canadians, you are getting ripped off!!!!! I haven't bought it yet because I am trying to figure out if I should pay double for this product.

"Microsoft Office:Mac"
I like it but it doesn't have the same menus as the PC version and I am having a little trouble finding commands that I want.

"Do you really need MS Office for Mac?"
So now you have a Mac and face the inevitable MS question-Do I need a Mac version of Microsoft Office?

The issue is made more difficult in that unlike for other versions of Microsoft Office, there is no free trial version of MS Office for Mac.

Since I am reviewing this office suite, you should assume I bought this product. It has Word, Excel and PowerPoint that look and feel just like the PC versions. It does not have Outlook, but offers a program called Entourage which manages mail effectively and even has a rather clunky project management component incorporated in it. If you use Hotmail as your primary email program, entourage will seem a necessity since Microsoft has kept third party mail management programs away from Hotmail. This includes Safari which does not work that well with Hotmail (although Firefox does just fine in web based Hotmail).

There is an alternative Apple iWork '08. iWork '08 reads and writes to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It has a free trial (60 days) and is much much cheaper, user friendly, and jazzier. As an added bonus, it uses much less real estate on your hard drive. It does not solve the Hotmail problem, but you can by migrating your webmail to gmail, yahoo, or lots of others which the standard Mail program on your Mac supports.

So here is the question, why do you want a Mac office suite that essentially offers no improvement over the PC program other than a mail manager?

What our customer's say!

"It's Microsoft...", Not native to Intel Macs - so a little slow and buggy even with the latest patch (one a month!). But, Office 2008 eliminated Visual Basic - so what is a small business to do? For now we are sticking with 2004 and may skip 2008 all together for 2010?

"Odd experience, but decent", The package arrived at the predicted time, and the product works well enough. No complaints for Amazon, but the box did arrive absolutely soaking with some weird yellow cake-mixy substance. It's a good thing the software box was shrink wrapped!

"It's still the Gold Standard", I've been using Microsoft Office since Office 98 and have never had a problem with any of the programs. Of course it has many more features than most people will ever use, but I constantly find new ways to streamline projects. I use it mostly in a business environment and don't know of any other program (suite) that would work as well as this does. I suppose for most "home" users, Apples Pages, Sheets, and Keynote would work fine, but for real heavy lifting you (still) pretty much need Office.

"Office 2004 for Mac", It's the Office group of applications for the Mac. It works as advertised and allows seamless transfer of files between Windows and Macs (at least till most everyone has the newer iterations of Office on the PC,then the 2008 Office/Mac version will be mandatory.

"can't do without it", This is good reliable stuff.
Looking forward to the 2008 version (included but still to be delivered)
Shame my new MacBook Pro was only coming with a trail version,
this is such monopolistic software that I had no choice but having it.
Thanks to billy G.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Standard Product for a Reason", Microsoft Office 2004 for the Mac is a good product. I have had some problems formatting the page setup for my Word documents (they're not letters) because the formatting is somewhat different than Word 2003 for the PC, but Excel is basically the same.

"When you need to get some 9 to 5 work done on your Mac...", I've decided to evaluate Apple computers and OS X for a few months. So far I've been less than impressed with the business related software offerings on the Mac compared with Windows. Having said that, MS Office on the Mac works pretty nicely. Can't wait for Office 2008 though as Office 2004 runs kind of slow even on a MBP 2.4GHz w/ 4GB...

Also, compared with Pages 08, Star office, Neo Office, etc. MS-Office is king.

"Performs As Expected", It pretty much performs as I expect it to. I'm still trying to get used to working on a Mac being a PC user for years but so far the product is pretty much user-friendly.

"2004 Microsoft Office for Mac", I have used the Excel, Word and Powerpoint software and it performs as I would expect it to. There are a lot of other capabilities in the software which I have not had time or need to evaluate. A more objective evaluation would be better after 90 or 180 days...

"Works Great!", Office is still, pretty much, the business standard of today. Truly one of Microsoft's better products, it preforms up to it's high standards here as well.

The only thing that bugs me is that this version is coming up on four-years old!
