"SJ Namo WebEditor 6 Suite"
When I first started using this program I thought it was great but when I had trouble with the text wrap, I couldn't fix it. There were large spaces between words and when I tried to pull the words together they all bunched up with no spaces. Everytime I deleted them and started over the same problem came up. When I tried to publish, it just wouldn't do it and when I finally did get it to publish, it published only parts of the website with blank places on the pages. The spell checker did not catch all of the misspelled words either. There is no on line support for this program and it is full of bugs. I uninstalled it and purchased FrontPage 2003 and have had no more problems. I do not recommend this program. It does have lots of nice Themes but they will not publish. The price is right but the product is not.

"SJ Namo WebEditor 6 Suite"
I have been using this software for nearly a year and have gotten it to work for me - for the most part. I had never heard of this software or company before and got it for free in a packaged deal from the company I use for web hosting (www.inmotionhosting.com).

Like most any piece of software, it takes some time to get used to using it and finding more features. I am now at a point with two web sites that I am comfortable with the software and how the web sites look and work - for the most part.

Like most any software, there are going to be limitations in what a user can do with it - even when knowing the product inside and out. SJ Namo 6 definitely has its short-comings and getting help from the parent company has been oh-for-23 in my case - they simply do not respond to my queries! When I ask inmotionhosting about the problems - I'm told this is not their software and that any questions should be directed to the parent company of the product.

Nice!

I've stuck with this software because it really does work for me - for the most part. The alternatives are other "cheapy" software packages which I'm sure will have their own nuiances. Or learn more of Dreamweaver - NOT!

I've taken three courses in Dreamweaver, spent more than 100 hours on tutorials and practice sessions and even use it at work on an almost daily basis. Because I know Dreamweaver this well, and that it is rather difficult to do the simple things I want from a web design package, and because I don't have the time to go through a 500 page manual, spend countless hours on the help sites, etc., etc......I wouldn't even consider it for my own personal or business web site. Bottom line with Dreamweaver is that it is just to complex for the beginning and possibly intermediate web designer. You may say that it only takes some getting use to and that I'm contradicting my own earlier statement. NOT! Because I use Dreamweaver so much, I know the limitations and problems and the high cost of software that goes with it.

Another alternative is MS FrontPage. Like many people, I use less and less products from Microsoft because of the problems, attacks, viruses, etc., etc. FrontPage and its extensions and all the other "features" don't even make this a consideration for me.

So, back to the original review and SJ Namo - Amazon is selling it for $40 - not a bad deal in my opinion. I'd say that anyone who is starting out in web design or someone who requires less "bells & whistles" should consider this product as an option. Unless it has changed since I got the software - this product at least comes with the manual - unlike Dreamweaver or FrontPage (both have online help (so does Namo) and both require seperate purchases for the manual).

Good luck in your ventures!

"DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!"
Where do I begin?

For starters, I had trouble loading this software on my brand new system with XP. All of the support is knowledge base and is useless. I finally got it loaded (after 3 attempts). The interface is NOT user friendly. I got error messages galore with no explanations either in the 'help' file or in the encyclopedia of a user manual. The FTP program would not upload files and would give unexplained error messages. I wrote to tech support. Six days later I got a response, with the wrong 'canned' information. I waited another week for someone to respond and ask me what the problem was...again! I finally contacted Namo for a refund, but do you think they've contacted me? Of course not!

Got $80 to waste? Buy this one!

"Namo WebEditor 6 Suite"
I purchased this software after reading fairly positive reviews. I have little experience with web page design so this looked like the right fit. Well, it's easy enough to use for the most part but forget it if you have a problem with the software. The customer service is non-existent. You can't call because their offices are in Korea and I am also unable to connect to their customer service to ask a question via email. I can not get the software to work and I can't use it. If you are considering this software, better think twice and buy something that has some support -- this is a huge waste of money.

"A Major Bug!"
Although it would be hard to match all of the "extras" you get with this program, I found a major problem that makes it impossible to use. The program puts in non-breaking spaces for regular spaces between words in table layouts which explodes the table beyond all margins. I'm not the only one that has complained about this (and the company has acknowledged the problem) but so far no upgrade fix. Until they address this problem (which would seem simple to fix) I wouldn't recommend this program. This problem was not evident in previous versions, all of which I've used and liked.

What our customer's say!

"It always helps to know the basics", Despite the accusation of "suspect reviews" there are some of us out here who get along just fine with Namo. I'm an author who does my own web page as well as the web page for my skating club, and I paid real money for Namo 4.0 and its subsequent versions. I'm by no means a professional web-page designer, but for these personal projects, Namo has been a great asset.

I've given the program only three stars, simply because I think it's good but not great. By comparison, I know of no web design program I'd rate higher, and I'd give Front Page two stars max.

As with any web editing program, it helps if you know some basic HTML. If you're a newbie trying to find a cheap means of making a complex webpage without doing any homework, you're going to get yourself into trouble with any program. Don't blame Namo. Invest in HTML for Dummies and understand how the basic code works, particularly for page layout and picture/text juxtapositioning.

And don't be afraid to experiment with adjusting the code manually. Here, that split display (which simultaneously displays both the WYSISYG layout screen and the html code) they've added to WE6 is really cool...wish I'd had that years ago. I've never experienced the kerning or wrap-around problems others have described, but in word processing programs, that's generally the result of a left-over printer code. I suspect something of the same in the described instances and would be using that split screen, looking for extraneous positioning codes.

Again...retension of extraneous code is not a problem unique to Namo. Just be glad that (unlike some other programs) you can actually access and edit that code directly.

If you're wanting to fill your page with bells and whistles, I honestly don't know how well Namo works. Java script is still not welcomed by all consumers, so I tend to stay away from it. I've seen some amazing pages done exclusively on Namo, however, so it must not be totally inadequate to the task.

I wrote my original page the old-fashioned way: in HTML. Even then, it was a fairly complex page layout. I imported it into Front Page, and when that program insisted on taking over every aspect of internet communication, and totally violated the page with masses of unnecessary code specifically for FP's control, I dumped it fast. I've used later versions of Front Page and still don't like it, though I acknowledge it works well for some.

I got Namo 4.0 from Jasc as a sample with Paint Shop Pro, and have used it ever since. It works quietly, publishes smoothly, and converted my imported 5.5 pages to 6 without any problems. When I've had pages I changed from a different computer, it has successfully recognized those changes and synchronized my home version with the onsite version.

Does it have bugs? Sure it does. So does Front Page and every other program ever written. As for customer service . . . if any company, hardware or software has decent support these days, I've not been fortunate enough to encounter it. Oh...I take that back. Linksys was fantastic. However, I've always gotten more help from the real people using programs than from the companies producing them.

But if you want something that will get a nice looking page up for you with a miniumum of fuss and at a reasonable price, you could do worse than Namo's WebEditor.

"MINUS 10 STARS MIGHT RATE THIS ONE", BIG SIGH. Bought Namo WebEditor6 just 2 days ago. Seemed to run fine. Then voila. Problem after problem. Too many to list and so frustrated now I just want to chuck it. This thing crash and burns more than Zeros in TORA! TORA! TORA! Words won't wrap or just the opposite. Theyruntogetherlikethis. The java buttons tend to replace eachother so your links are all messed up. A waste of money...and FrontPage is wayyy too expensive. So, I thought I'd try NAMO. How messed up could it be? I thought. Well, I'll tell ya that you don't want to know. Save your money. Even the manuals print is kind of shoddy. This thing is a POS. Nice box though.

"Namo is Lamo - Bugs Bugs & MORE Bugs", Amazon should allow us to vote ZERO stars.

Please do NOT purchase this software. While it has many desireable features at an affordable price it is not worth the money. It is a simple program to master but it has a great deal of software problems that NAMO acknowledges but refuses to do anything about. Customer service with NAMO is non-existant.

WebEditor crashes -- a lot. I checked the NAMO site forum (...) and found that many users have multiple complaints of bugs with this software. For example, paragraphs often don't wrap and have to be totally reconstructed in another software and cut and pasted back into the editor. It removes spacing and spontaneously changes line spacing. While I have never crashed when working strictly in the HTML mode, the program constantly crashes and loses data while working in the WYSIWYG editor mode -- and WYSI NOT What you get. What you see in the "preview" is rarely what you see once your site is published. Columns shift, spacing disappears, etc.

When you are in a table, if you try to block highlight a paragraph including the font tag of the previous paragraph and hit delete you will crash your software program every single time. Not good for when you are moving things around or cutting and pasting.

Another problem with the software is that for no apparent reason users get a "cannot read memory" error specifically linked to the NAMO software (it even asks if you wish to debug NAMO WE 6.0) Ha. Another funny is thing is that when you go to the NAMO site to try and email a complaint they have bugs in their own website!

What you might save in time (easy to learn) and money you will more than pay for in countless hours of frustration and lost data. Trust me, you will end up tossing NAMO out and going out and ubying something else instead.

"It's OK But It's Not Perfect", I have used Namo WebEditor for two or three years, starting with version 5, then 5.5, then 6. The reviews here seem to be either raves or trashes.
Namo is a good product but it has deficiencies. I found no bugs in versions 5 and 5.5 but 6 had a few, particularly in loading pages made with 5 or 5.5. I installed the patch and have had few problems since. I keep 5.5 on the machine if I need it.
There are a few things that don't work well so I've been thinking of buying Dreamweaver. I would have by now if (1) it were reasonably priced, and (2) it were not so difficult to learn. The other programs in the Namo suite are buggy or of little value. Posts on the Namo website forum repeatedly trash the product support. I've not had to use it but I've had bad experiences with support from Dell, Microsoft and other companies. Does anyone have good support any more?
Some of Namo Web Editor's plusses: (1) There are four viewing modes; Dreamweaver has three. To preview in DW you must save, open a browser and load the file in that. In Namo you can preview by clicking a tab. (2) There are built-in scripts (javascript) that are easy to use. Some don't work right. (3) There are many sample pages that you can modify and use. I think the designs are awful. (4) There is a fair collection of clip art, photos, graphics and other items that can be used in your pages. The buttons can be edited for color, text, size, etc. (5) Namo's window can be sized to the most common screen settings (eg. 600 X 800 etc.) so you can easily know how much of the page won't be seen by people who set screen resolution for large displays.
I have not found above items 2, 4 and 5 in my uses of Dreamweaver. I don't think they are available in Dreamweaver.
I have made many pages with Namo, accept its shortcomings, and have no problems with it. Maybe I've been lucky as far as the bugs are concerned.
A new version (Web Editor 2006) is shipping and is being roundly trashed in the forums on the Namo website. Apparently it is not much different from version 6, and has several bugs.
I will continue using and enjoying Namo 6 (with 5.5 on standby) until I have learned more about Dreamweaver and can buy a leftover prior version at a reasonable price. I've downloaded Dreamweaver's 30-day trial three times and am only now starting to feel comfortable with it. It does have a good tutorial but there is a lot to learn.
If you are considering buying Namo, look at Dreamweaver and Netobjects Fusion 8 as well. Trial versions are available from all three (go to the respective website). Dreamweaver is the most complex and most difficult to learn; Fusion is probably the easiest to learn, by far, but Namo may do more.
If Namo installs properly, works well and you can learn it, it will do a great job for you. If you are a beginner, get "HTML for Dummies" along with whatever program you get.

"I will give it one star because there isnt anything lower than this.", This is not worth your money. I should have done more research on this before buying this. Honestly, sometimes I feel like tearing my hair out with frustration. I will give it one star because there isnt anything lower than this.

Its not very user friendly, it retains the properties of the latest page that you worked on and there are some properties, I havnt figured out how to change yet. Take for example, images in the editor windows started showing up as and empty box with an X in the corner, instead of an image. It started after I tried to use one of their templates to play arround. I do not know how to change this back. Its frustrating because even though, it shows up as a image on the preview window, it doesnt do so on the editing window. They do not have any tech support number to call. The templates are medicore or of lower quality. Frankly,I have seen share wares do a lot of what you can do with this.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Non existant support and MAJOR BUGS", I wish they had a -10 rating...
11 E-mails to Namo to get RMA, Updates, tech support... what a nightmare. The product DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED, is NOT user friendly, has MAJOR bugs, any decent templates are $65 extra to buy, then once you download and pay, won't work... but for and extra $500, the will make them work for you. WHAT A SCAM!
RUN AWAY from this dispicable, pathetic application!
I am not a new user, either. I use Dreamweaver and front page and was just looking for a quicker alt for those small clients, but this thing is a pathetic sham. A portal to expensive, overpriced options and a disgrace...
The box is pretty though.

"Not For Boneheads", This program does a great job for the money, sure Dreamweaver does a bit more but is about as user friendly as a pitbull in heat. After your done shelling 400.00 for Dreamweaver you can go to the book store and buy a couple of 500 page doorstop manuals to learn how to use it. Namo will do anything you need especially if you know a little about web design and it is even more customizable than Dreamweaver. You'll notice I don't talk about Frontpage...

I actually use both Namo & Dreamweaver because some things are just easier in Namo. The graphix editor will cover the basics but you'll probably want a little stronger program if you are doing photos and creating graphix from scratch. Fireworks is very good for creating web graphix.

Namo has all the basic Javascript functions built in and it's pretty easy to grasp plus it comes with a pretty good user guide which you will need if you want to use some of the more advanced features this program has to offer. Also offers decent CSS support although Dreamweaver 2004 MX does a much better job dealing with CSS'.

This program will cover from beginner to advanced in web design, if you're a pro you'll be using Dreamweaver or GoLive. I was not disappointed for 80.00 and if your not a bonehead you won't be either.

"complex - because it offers a lot", As an absoute beginner it took me a weekend to get a good looking site up and running. Since then I keep on discovering all the web-design options this program offers - and this will take me at least another year. It can be you your "all in one" solution, doing a good job with graphics, too ( also vector graphics). But it leaves you all the options open (for example great import, export and organizing features). You can choose designing only by using the graphical user interface - or HTML coding - or to combine both. This means the namo web editor certainly needs some work to get used to it. It comes with an extensive manual describing most of technical details. I did need this manual (also the information is also provided in the online help) and you will miss it if you acquire the download version. The only thing which should be added to this package is a dedicated introductory guide for beginners.
So far I have not discovered bugs and the websites displayed exactly as in the (built in) preview option.

"Too confusing to use and not acurate", I am semi experianced in deigning websites and i bought this product from Comp USA in Michigan and was completly disappointed when I took it home and the program was very hard to follow. I would put the pictures up on the design and like was said before , the picture was different on the website itself. I could not return it and now am out 100 bucks. I am furious and would never tell anyone about this product, I Love to use WebEasy professional 5.0 its excellent for designing websites and is profeesional looking by far.

"Agree with other reviewers - poor support & buggy", I agree with most of the other negative reviewers. Despite the high praise and many features in this web editor I have had nothing but frustrations with it. The registration did not work and a question I sent to the company was never answered. What is most frustrating is that many things work in unexpected ways. And other functions have a mind of their own - for example, I set a table column width in NAMO but when I look at it online its different. I simply can not make tables work right. Even though I'm a 20 plus years computer user, I've had to hire a programmer to help use this user-friendly tool! I like the price and the features - too bad I can't make it work. I end most sessions saying, I hate this program!
