"Great Speakers, IF they never fall off your table"
These are great speakers, love them love them...in fact, may have to buy them again=(

One speaker fell off my desk hitting the floor...I gasped thinking the plastic would shatter. Nope, the plastic just fine, however, the speaker inside was dis-located.

The little speaker rattled around helplessly begging for help. But I could not get to the little guy. The sound sticks are sealed shut...very tightly, I tried everything, and scratched the hell out of the little guy trying.

Finally I was able to use a bent paper-clip to "Fish" for the speaker through its hole and pull it back in place until it snapped securely like it originally did.

This scenario happed a dozen times over a year, until the speaker clips broke off. I then had to super-glue them in, which looked horrible. Now the speakers started to fall off and it finally killed itself but wires & speakers crossing.

So now I have to buy the same one again.

Great product, but, not very easy to fix should it received the slightest fall to the floor.

"Best bang for your buck"
After what seems like mindlessly unending research for a 2.1 system, here it finally is! I'm pretty picky in the sense that [obviously price doesn't mean everything] I tend to stray from speakers under $100, though there are definitely good attempts if you're really under a budget.

Previously, I owned an Altec Lansing set that got a majority of great reviews. Upon hearing them for the first time in my room, I wasn't exactly gleaming. I figured I'd give it a chance, as sometimes speakers take intial break-in time or maybe I would simply warm up to them. This wasn't the case, though...which really caught me by surprise seeing as how the set I had before that was also AL and I loved them. I am a bass fanatic but the AL sub was way too much for the satellites. Not too much in that it didn't sound good, but the satellites were weak. The sound wasn't natural at all.

A first I was hesitant with the Soundsticks II because of the "lack of bass" according to multiple reviewers. Well, after looking and listening to quite a few more sets, I figured I'd take the risk since Amazon is very gracious with their return policy.

Wow, am I glad I did! The Sticks are amazing for the price range. The bass was much better than I expected, they blend very well with the overall sound, and I personally like the blue glow. The satellites, however, are where the Sticks really shine. The clarity of these small cones is unbelievable. The wattage rating must really be fooling people because these are [technically speaking] the lowest watts I've owned for a 2.1 system and by far the loudest and best sounding.

If you're contemplating whatsoever, just go for it. Amazon has great customer service and the very limited amount of faults found in the Sticks just won't be enough to take away from the sound and cosmetics of these bad boys. By far, the best bang for your buck!

"SoundSticks II 2.1 and iMac"
I opened the box, took less than 5 minutes for plug and play set-up and listened to the wonderful sound output for the price- plus the look of the system is ultra-cool to coordinate with my iMac. 5 Star recommendation.

"GREAT PRODUCT!"
These arrived within 2 days of my purchase!!! They are great! The sound BUMPS abd is very CLEAR! Just what I was looking for. Also, the clear look is perfect for almost any home decore.

"Clear, powerful Speakers"
These speakers look very cool, are great quality and when played loud, it is still clear.
GREAT QUALITY, recommended.

What our customer's say!

"No more GSM buzz!", Ever since I got an iPhone, I've been looking for a decent set of computer speakers that would not exhibit the dreaded buzz produced by cell phones that use GSM technology, like the iPhone does when connected to AT&T's Edge network. (3G solves the problem, but coverage is still spotty). I'm thrilled to say that my search is finally OVER.

Now I know there are some of you out there don't mind this noise, but it always went right through me and there were times where I wanted to throw the phone right out the window. A friend of mine, also an iPhone user, had a set of these speakers, and he personally demonstrated to me the lack of GSM buzz while using the Edge network. I was sold, and immediately ordered my own.

They arrived today and I couldn't be happier. No more annoying buzz! Man what a relief! And as for how they sound? Once again I couldn't be happier. They sound crystal clear, and the sub helps to round out the bottom end quite nicely. I'm sure there are better sounding speakers out there, but for my purposes (listening to music while working), these fit the bill just fine.

Plus, they look great on my desk!

"Great Product.", I teach and have a set of these in my classroom. I plug my iPod or my Mac in and send clear, crisp sounds to my students while they are working or as they are entering on a theme day. My students come up and ask me where the sound is coming from. My wife teaches second grade and was just moved to a new room with a new computer, Elmo, and projection system. She can play DVD's and clips from the Internet on her computer but didn't have any speakers other than those on her computer. I insisted on buying her a set of SoundSticks II and they really complete the system. All of the music from the DVDs and CDs is clear and crisp. They are out of sight in her classroom and her second graders can't believe that all that music comes from those tiny speakers. She complained that they were too expensive until she heard them. They are worth every penny.

"Excellent Speakers, Crisp Sound", Great speakers. They look really cool and they have volume control is nice. Only thing I don't like is that the subwoofer light stays on constantly, no matter if the computer is turned off.

"Amazing Speakers from JBL!", I would pay $100 for the instrument separation alone. After a few days of listening, these speakers will make you a sucker for live recordings. You can close your eyes and imagine the singer in front of you, the guitarists on the side, the drums at the back. But woah, there's the organ at the corner! Don't let reviews of the Z-2300 convince you. A sound system is only complete when it has a balanced output throughout the spectrum. Bass is not everything. And even if it comes to that, the Soundsticks II have bass let me tell you. The bass separation is excellent given the sub is passive like most other 2.1 systems. This system is worth every cent and more. I couldn't be happier. Thanks Harman/Kardon.

"Super sound!", Attached these speakers to an iMac G5 kept in my office. Unbelievable improvement, terrific sound quality. Easy to install and control. I recommend them highly! Winguy.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"second set of these speakers", This is the second set of these speakers I've owned. The first pair were the originals and they worked great for about a year. Then the hissing and feedback started. I couldn't use them. I bought a new electrical plug/connector for them at the cost of $50 and that worked for about another 2 years. I loved the way they originally sounded and the way they looked. I've read great reviews about them. Since they were now on version II, I decided to give them another try. They are about $100 cheaper than my original ones. I've had them for about a month and they work and sound great. I love that they have a volume control on the speaker. Let's hope they stay great for more than a year.

"Amazing Sound.", I purchased these speakers about a week ago and they are everything the specs and reviews say they are. The slimline top speakers fit nice and neat (and look incredibly good, look at that sweet design!) on top of my desk next to my iMac. The sound quality is exceptional, and being able to control the subwoofer's power is a great feature, so you can get it at just the right tone that fits your hearing the best. The set up was simple consisting of just plugging in a few cords and putting the speakers in place. I would recommend them to anybody, and you are getting quite the bang for your buck. A great set of speakers for anybody who wants to step up a little bit to the next level. Amazing sound!

"I regret buying this", I am not the most correct person when it comes to technology and I, like everyone else, tend to like what I purchase, so when I purchased this rather expensive device, I expected a punching bass rather than mediocre sound and not the highest volume. After reading all the reviews on amazon.com, I decided I could not find better speakers, this would have been my first instance of usage. What I didn't notice while reading the reviews were the dates on them, most of these reviews are more than 2 years old, had I known I'm buying something that has been in the market for this long, I would have re-considered but then so many people cannot be wrong so I decided to get this particular systtem.

I recently moved into a modest location somewhere in the newest of Yorks. I am setting things up and have ordered more than two dozen things from Amazon.com - this somehow being the most expensive. I keep these on the carpet and would love to turn them into the walls but I fear my neighbours won't like the new guy next door.

Features -
a) well packed, prompt delivery
b) comes with an unfamiliar looking bass guy and extra terrestrial looking speakers
c) Wires and a manual people like me never bother with
d) I assume the speakers with the volume buttons is the "RIGHT" channel - the buttons are the kinds you just hold for a second or two and only then realize whether it's actually working or not

THE GOOD

a) If you've used ordinary or wose speakers in the past, you will surely notice something in the vocals you didn't before, for example, the sampling in the song "DRIVE" by Incubus will appear more clear and distinct. I noticed this immediately upon purchase.

b) The wires are long, the two speakers have a great stand and you can keep them on any surface because the padding or material on the bass is circular and just fits very nicely, impressive build quality on the four smaller speakers located on them satellites

c) You can disconnect both speakers from the system. My previous system was an altec lansing 2.1 which cost me 1/4the price and there was no way to disconnect the spears individually upon transfer. The wires are long and as long as you'll want them to be.
The Bad

a) There is no power button, the blue light that comes out of the the main speakers looks ridiculous in a dark room.

b) Portability - I will think three times before taking these speakers from the living room into the bed room because they look like such a mess with all the wires and they're so difficult to shift from one room to another, I realize 71% of you won't be shifting them but in my situation this is quite an issue. There is little or no way of setting these up and making the wires stay sane. The looks become so boring so quick.

c) If I'm listening to Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, I just know that there appears to be an irritating lack of bass, thump and the treble is just such a downer. Imagine listening to something in volume but not quite getting enough bass and vocals on it. This system is really a no-no for someone who listens to Classic Rock/Hard Rock/Grunge etc. However, if you have this system and intend to get it, do note that if you put the system in a smaller room the sound effects are a bit mangified in comparison to a slightly more open space.

d) The volume button is so annoying and I never know when it's going to work, push it a little and the speakers will start to blast

e) There is a 2 second delay when you're fixing this to your computer or ipod or phone or whatever the source might be. It takes two seconds to start. A very annoying thing is how much noise the speakers make if you have not connected them to a source.

The ugly

I have to live with these speakers so I hope I find something to like about them. The system doesn't look good, sounds ordinary, does not have a power button to swith off, has an annoying blue light and so difficult to transfer. It is not even a lot of fun to watch films with this particular speaker. I understand I can reconfigure the EQ and make the voice come out in a better way but really the trouble I've had with this system is immense.

I now think I should have paid even more and gone for something that actually fits the bill. I can't call this a rip off because my dear Amazon friends seem to love it. I guess this is just not the right speaker if you wish to be the only living boy in new york listening to Pearl Jam. Don't even try to play Dream Theater on this thing. Regret persists.

"Very Nice Speakers", I've had these speakers for a about a month and I love them. I'm a Jazz Bass Major in college, and I've found that the subwoofer sounds great for upright bass on old jazz recordings. It even pulls the bass out on those really bad recordings from the 40s and 50s. I've found their clearness to be really helpful for transcribing solos and basslines. They're pretty high quality for computer speakers; they're relatively inexpensive; they're sexy.

"these speakers sound good for an affordable price.", these speakers came highly recommended by a friend who lives in my dorm hall. they are nice and compact, yet surprisingly heavy (i think this prevents any unwanted rattles). the sound is great and it plugs right into the headphone socket in your computer(personally i would rather it plug into a usb, but i cant find that anywhere and the sound from this is supposed to be superior),or it can plug into a tv, ipod or any device with a headphone jack, OR the product comes with a tv adapter, so you can connect to tv's even without headphone jacks. i highly recommend these speakers to anyone who is looking for an affordable, quality set of speakers.
