What our customer's say!
"Not much of a game...", Hi. I'm a 15 year old here to tell you about this game. When I bought School Tycoon at my school book fair a few years ago, I thought I would actually be able to CREATE my dream school. Boy was I wrong. Sure there's classrooms, teachers, students, the basic stuff. But the creators left out one thing for this game: CUSTOMIZATION.
*Pros* - You can create different types of students with distinct personalities. - The teachers (especially the scrawny nerdy one) talk funny, like, "Multiply the tax by two and you shall have the proper tip," and my favorite, "If my calculations are correct ...the world will end... in 1997," which is the funniest thing about the game. - The deluxe classrooms and the gyms look nice. - The Autosave feature (when the bus arrives, your game is automatically saved). - You can direct students to go to the nurse, goof off, go to detention, or even expel them.
*Cons* - The classrooms are BUILDINGS - The stupid natural disasters kill your morale and it's almost impossible to bring it back up no matter how much you fix your school back to the way it was before. - It's almost impossible to attract more than 40 students to your school so you have to keep creating new students. - The paths get dirty really fast. - There are objects in this game you would never find in a real school (what school would have a go-kart race track or a rollercoaster?!). Plus, the students don't even ride them - they just sit on the benches. - Unless you use the cheat code, you can't have enough money to unlock everything to get the good classrooms. - Everyone is silent except for the teachers. The only sounds you would hear are the "boops" from clicking on the game icons and the school bell. - Most of the classrooms look like school buildings itself. - You can't change the look of the classroom or any other building, no matter how stupid it looks. - It's impossible to find a teacher with a high fun rating, a medium strictness rating, and a high skill rating. - The graphics are a little blocky
I wouldn't recommend this game to anybody, except if you're a game designer that can fix it. It's not the worst game ever created, but the designers really could have done a much better job.
"Worth the money ", School tycoon is fun. I've been playing it for 2 months and I am not bored of it yet. School Tycoon has it's ups and downs.
The ups:
-Make landscapes!
-Choose classrooms like english, math, social studies, library, etc.
-Pick teachers and other staff wisely, making sure they are fun and have high ability and they can't be too strict.
-Create students and decide their personalities.
-While you wait for a game to load, you get hints and tips on how to play.
The downs:
-Every 10-20 minutes your school faces natural disasters like "fires" and "hurricanes".
-The tutorial helps only slightly.
-School pathways get dirty so quickly, you need lots of janiters.
"School Tycoon? Is this another tycoon just thrown together by the devolepers or is it thoughtout?", Seems like a very good idea.I saw it and i downloaded the trial. I thought it was very good (it was the 1 hour trial), i did have a tornado and a fire but I just thought it happenes only every once in a while.SO i go ahead and buy it.... Frist of all i find out it happens ALL THE TIME.Every 30 mins there is some sort of disaster,i dont think it happens that much in the real world at one school.IT gets realy annoying when your school is big,and there is no fireman or anything to help it on this game. This would of been a better game without it or at least not all the time. The graphics are clear yet cartoonish. The game is fun.The game is not realy cutting edge in anything realy. The good:clear cartoon graphics, very fun,you can most likey find it lower than $20 bucks, not too conplexed yet not to simple The bad:DISASTER happen every like 30 mins and makes it boring for people who play for long periods in time, some glitches. Overall Scores: Gameplay:6(fair) graphics:7(good) Sound:7 (good) value:7(good) tilt:7(good) OVERALL:6.9(fair)its not junk, just an average game out there realy has its ups and downs, you realy just have to weigh it and see if the good covers the bad for you. sound:7(good) Graphics
"School Tycoon Computer Game is Fun and Teaches", I bought this Tycoon game for my 9-year-old granddaughter for those times when she comes to visit us. She is a very intelligent young lady and learns quickly. Her older sister has the Mall Tycoon game, and she loves it as well as the 9-year-old. However, the younger one doesn't get to play it very much, so I downloaded the product, and I sat her down at the computer with the instruction book and told her I would like her to try it by herself, but I would be nearby if she needed help.
She ran with it, and she was so excited about selling toilets in the building to make money. She was so smart, she even managed to sell a burning building. She was given a budget to build the school, equip the classrooms, hire teachers, custodians, cafeteria workers, etc., and the goal is to stay within the budget. She made out very well each time she played it, and I found out how educational it was. It teaches math, communication skills, creative skills, scheduling of meals, hiring and firing employees, buying books, appeasing students, etc. The whole time she played it, not only was she learning, but she was having fun.
I highly recommend this game to anyone. I even had fun playing it after she went home, but I don't think I did as well as she did.
"Read me", The premise for the game wasnt bad, the graphics could have been better. THE THING I HATED THE MOST; DISASTERS!!!! Once you got ahead of the game, got some cash and students, BOOM! earthquake or tornado. Who thought that up? You CANT turn them off either, i tried looking for cheat codes. Its a lame game, its not a good (im bored, need a good tycoon game to pass the time)so think before you buy, if its for a child, they'll get bored with it or pissed off.

"Not too Shabby!", Alas another in the never-ending saga of TYCOON games! What to make of this one?
Well if you aren't sure of the jist of the game from the title here's a quick summary: just as in all tycoon games you are the ethereal master and commander in charge of designing and running a school campus. Place buildings, supply needed services, and manage staff. You can follow a campaign mode and complete objectives or you can elect to do a free-build (sandbox mode) game.
Now for some points of review on the game itself!
+ Graphics: for a game of this type the graphics are just fine. In some places its quite cartoonish but it does seem to fit the concept of the game. The ability to rotate and zoom the camera at will is a great boon. + Sound: again for a game of this type the sound and music are fine. Nothing spectacular but not pathetic either. + Game-play: once you learn the basics of how to navigate the menus and find what you need the game is easy. The tutorial is weak but it helps to orient you to the interface. Once you're up and running (less than 15 minutes) navigating the game is simple. + Performance: the game ran perfectly on my system and given that the requirements aren't that steep you shouldn't have any issues unless you have an antique computer. If your system matches the game requirements you'll be all set. If you have any problems make sure you drivers are updated and disable any background programs (virus scanners, etc). - Originality: even though the concept is cool - running a school campus - the implementation is rather boring. If you're familiar with other Tycoon games you'll get the drift really quick. It's more of the same old situation: build this and get that to build that... etc... Cool concept poor practice. - Challenge: the very first game I played I was making plenty of money and had unlocked some of the more expensive and elaborate buildings almost by accident. There's no real way to measure you success with the students and teachers (at least nothing easy to access) so you have to just click and go. Perhaps it gets more difficult in the scenarios but the free-build game itself was a cinch. - Depth: this is where the poor practice of a cool concept really hurts. There is so much possibility in a tycoon game that not to allow players to control it all is crazy. In this game you have very little detailed control over things - for some this is great but for those looking for that type of control this game doesn't have it.
Hope that helps!
"An honest review", This computer game would be fun... If it didn't freze up every 3 min. I got this as a gift, and couldn't wait to play it, once I had gotten it installed I started to play. It takes awhile to unlock things, and you have a limited budget. You don't have much control over the people, you can send them to the nurse, give them detention, or expel them. After the first few minuets of playing this it froze up, after about a min. I could play again, but this kept happening, Which is why I gave it a 1.
"One of the worst games of all time", School Tycoon is possibly the worst game ever made and certainly the worst Tycoon game ever made. I have been an avid gamer all my life and am working on a "100 Worst Games" list so I can mail it to Entertainment Weekly, who can publish it for their next issue. Currently, School Tycoon ranks #35.
Alot of people say Tabloid Tycoon is the worst of the Tycoon games. Well that's bullshizzle, because while the graphics on that game were unbelievably bad, you could only edit nouns in other peoples' stories for your newspaper, and all you really do is hire staff, write stories, assign people to them, and publish your newspaper, there was one good thing about TT that earned it a free pass off of my list--the catchy music. It's actually relatively good news compared to School Tycoon.
This time, there is a purpose for running a school that is explained in a poorly animated opening video. When you start a new game, which takes about 5 minutes to load, the school is already built for you. It is already named, already determined what kind of school it will be, and is actually an outdoor school, which means that it will ALWAYS be difficult for junior high students, causing them to leave. Your school is already open, and people are itching to get in even when you haven't built anything. You can build things, but it is absolutely impossible to get funding for them; whenever you peep into classrooms, the teacher has written a message on the blackboard saying that there are none of the necessary things that would be available by having funding. Nor can you even determine what they are supposed to be learning.
My general procedure for my Bottom 100 list is: the game can either be awful big-time--without a woodshaving of redeeming value--or find itself a review at Something's Awful (somethingsawful.com). School Tycoon is such a game. Do I recommend it? Not only you enjoy playing "Elf Bowling 1 & 2."
"I'd like it better if it weren't for one annoying glitch...", This game is pretty cool. The grapics are good, and so is the sound. I found it to be easy to get the hang of. Just build some baisic classrooms and hire some good teachers, wait for more money, build some more classrooms, ect. I could do without the disasters, though.
But I did find a glitch that's pretty annoying. After a while, the 'full screen classroom' button stops working. Now I can't go into the classroom to see what's going on.
Overall, this game is....so-so.
"This game is awesome!", My family and I love this game.If you would like too be a principal you should DEFINETLY get this game.I spend almost all my time playing this game. This game will let you build from port-o-pottys,to ROLLERCOASTERS!This game would be one of the best games you could possibly be able to buy.You can create new students such as bullies to cheerleaders. You can also fire staff and read the newspaper. There is also a panel you can click on that will let you make tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes.so if you are into games that will let you rule places this game is definetly for you.I am positive anyone who buys this game will like it.
