Others say...
"Get off your duff and do a little reading" Nothing's perfect. I've been using the basic program over 2 years and here's what I have learned. You have to get the 3rd party help which Google will find for you. Some discs, Sony , especially and alot of the Disney stuff have so much garbage in them, that the program shuts down. There is also a hic-up from time to time where a hesitation will appear and re-appear, through out, from time to time. Out of over two hundred copies, I say I GOT MY MONEY'S WORTH. What do you expect for less than $40.00 bucks? If you can't do a little searching to help the program do its thing--- you're too dmn lazy and you don't deserve it!...CTP
"One star is too much..." This software is almost completely worthless. It copied NOT ONE of about 15 DVDs I own that I tried to copy. What a colossal waste of money. Look elsewhere.
"I want to give it 0 stars" A BIG waste of time and money. Look for a better product. It will work part of the time and just frustrate you the rest of the time. I have had more luck with 1Click.
"Standard version Works great for me. " Standard version works great. Problem is with those using Basic Edition. watch the fine print. Standard version supports Dual Layer, and 16x high speed burners. Fine product. I've been using it for 2 years.
"poor product, poor customer service" This product is garbage, do not buy it. The cover of their product states 100% satisfaction or full refund. Only if you buy it from them on-line. The product itself is not worth even looking at. There are better products on the market, do your research.

What our customer's say!
"Do not want another software!", This product has worked great for me. I downloaded from a website and have not had any problems with it. I have copied 99 percent of the movies I tried. I just purchased another computer and really wanted to have this program on this computer so that is why I'm purchasing another copy because I could not figure how to transfer it onto my new computer. Hopefully it will work as good as my previous copy.
"Email tech support=SNOTS!!", Lord help you if you need support! On top of being rude, they're belligerent and arrogant.
Save your money and your grief.
AVOID!!!!!
"The Subjectivity of Software Experience - Again", Those of you who know me and/or have read my reviews, know I am not a Pollyanna about software - I can be rather critical of programs that do not work well (for me) or have some curruptive impact in my own precious system. For a few examples, check out my reviews of Anonymizer Anonymous Surfing for PC, Iolo Technologies System Mechanic 7 for PC, Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 Full Version for PC or my admittedly particularly unkind review of the Ahead Software Nero 6 Ultra Edition comprehensive set of CD and DVD recording tools (160006) for PC. The point is that our computers are a composite of the hardware, the software in them and the way we use them. Consequently, each is as individual as we ourselves are as people. Consequently, what is a hideous experience for one of us may turn out to be just what the Doctor ordered for another. Subjectivity uber alles.
I have used this program, which I recently upgraded (for free) to it's version 5.0.5.11, to copy DVDs of all types and descriptions. I stick to using an old, simpler Roxio Disc Copier for CDs. It installed without flaw for me on my DELL 8250 with ample RAM and HD space available and the upgrade was installed 'over' the existing program so no uninstalling was involved. The copies are clean and I have experiences absolutely NO problems with it's straightforward operation. It offers only a few choices on the control panel. The usual ones. Full Disc or Movie Only?, Dual Layer or not?, Full Screen or Wide Screen?, Preferred Language?, Subtitles or not? and, of course, a choice about path to the file where the temporary file will be held on your Hard Drive until the copying is complete. The temporary file then self-deletes.
Most all of that is routine on copying software. This program does have a couple of things about it that I have learned yield the best possible results. For one, although I have two DVD drives, I use the same one to copy the DVD to the HD as I do to burn the HD image to a new DVD. This tends to improve the performance of most copying software I have used, resisting the temptation to use one drive to READ and the other to BURN. Also, as is the case with most similar products, the program operates by reading the DVD and copying it to the temporary file on your HD. Then, you remove the original DVD (on prompt) and insert a clean one. The program then burns the new one from the HD as I mentioned above. This is a different process that the Roxio copier which copies directly from disc to disc - using two drives - without having to first copy anything the the HD. This type of "on the fly" copying, well known and frequently used for making copies of CDs simply does not work well with the more complex nature of DVDs.
Also, as with all (legal) copying programs sold in this country, this software does not include any decryption function. Experienced disc copiers will know what options are available if that is a desired ability.
Finally, a simple restatement. Our computers are as unique as are we as individuals. What is 'right' for one will not be anywhere close to OK for another. As with all software, whenever possible - try before you buy. Take advantage of free trial periods and eschew software that does not offer that. It's a little like the difference between dating and marrying. Running off to Reno on the first date is not likely to yield a very good long-term result!
"Its not McCopy you Lazy Lima Beans", Straight and simple. It doesnt copy every DVD. It does copy a lot of them. Some DVD movies are CSS protected, some are not. Companies like Pixar and Disney spend a little extra money on CSS encryption coding- to keep all DVD profits in-house. I dont blame them. After all its a business. The Mouse IS a billionare ya know? So all you trendy people who buy their computers from Walmart because they have DVD burners... stay out of blogs about technology you dont understand nor want to take time to learn about. Some of you are trying to experience big budget movies on 20" TVs anyway. it only gets 3 stars from me beacuse they havent figured out the CSS encryption problem yet. I have over 400 movies at home....some are copies some are the originals. Its about codes and profits, knowledge and ignorance. Which side are you on?
"A little know how can get alot outta this.", This program is worth its weight in gold if you just use a little know how. When I first bought it I thought the same thing as many others seem to still think, "it doesn't copy any protected dvd's!" The answer is that it does copy protected dvd's. What the program does not do is remove the copyright protection from the disc. On the other hand, you can download a free program that takes care of that for you. And it is so simple that once you install this second program (if you get the right one) then it works automaticly when ever you place a dvd in your drive. The "I Copy DVD 2" software tells you all of this during the install process so I am not sure why anyone would not know to go online and get this second software. So the program does what it says it will do, you just have to complete an extra step. As far as the quality issues? For under 50 bucks you can not expect much better. Most of the copies that I manage to make seem to suffer little to no ill effect to my eyes from the copying process. As far as that goes I would remind people of this; the program is supposed to be used to make one (1) legal back-up of any dvd that you have purchased in order to protect your original from wear. As in our case, we make copies of our movies for my daughter who does things like leave discs out on the floor, or just plain looses them. If she does any of this then we have only really lost the cost of a blank disc which is way less then the cost of the actual movie! What I believe is assumed by the manufaturer is that if people use it as intended, they can just choose to copy the actual movie and not the ENTIRE contents (special features, menus, etc.) of the DVD which will provide a much better quality copy because the software has to compress less data to fit onto a dvd disc. If a person wants to see the extra content then they can turn to their orignal dvd for this. If your intentions are to build your dvd collection by renting movies and making copies so that you don't have to pay to actually buy them then this is not for you. The technology that compression labs use to make retail dvds is very advanced and expensive and could never be packaged and sold for under 50 bucks. I gave the program only 4 stars beacause from time to time it seems to run into problems copying a movie and ruins a blank disc. Although I have no idea why this happens, it does not happen nearly enough to discourage me from recomending this to anyone.

"What good is it?", It won't copy protected DVDS. They tell you to use DVD43 or DVD Encrypter to copy them. Since January 2006 both of these programs originating in Finland were discontinued because of a new copy write law there. SO WHAT GOOD IS IT?
"GREAT Product A++++", A friend of mine told me about this program and about DVD43. I have been using it for about 3 months now and I have not came across any DVD that it will not copy. Is alot quicker then my other DVD burning program and alot better in that it takes out the menu and other items that take up space on the DVD. This program works great and is well worth the money. The others who rated it so low probably did not have DVD43 or a like program. So what if you have to download another program to make this one work. IT IS WELL WORTH IT. Besides it's only a 15 second download.
"it is great", for the ones who say i copy dvd 2 is bad it is not i have been using the i copy for 2 years now and it works great, the ones who buy the program must not no how to use it, dvd43 works wonderful with this program maybe you should take your time installing the program and read the instructions.
"Needs additional software", I bought this thinking it would be easy to use, but I needed to download additional software from the internet. Even after I downloaded it to override the copyright protection, I still could not back up copies of certain DVD's.
"I COPY DVD 2", A TEXT BOOK CASE OF "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR". PURCHASED SOFTWARE AT LOCAL ELECTRONICS STORE. WORKED FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND THEN JUST QUIT. VERY TEMPERMENTAL AND A WASTE OF MONEY. GET A GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT AND FORGET THIS ONE.
