"Finaly not just a blind shooting sensless game"
i havent played the first 2 hitmans but i enjoyed contracts.u don't really have to know what happend in the first 2 to know the story.what i first didn't like about the storyline is that it has no connections really to the jobs but if u are carefull u ll get taht some of the jobs and his past history have a lot in commen(check hitman in wikipedia)
gameplay fantastic.slient assasinations, little nice goodies that help a lot(poison the whisky,etc..)it takes a little patiance to get how to do the strangling and other sneaking stuff and so do the controllers but i think its done the best possible way
the ambiente of the misions is mostly very original.
what is also a big plus there are always several possibilaties to complet the mission.
i had no problem installing it and playin it.works perfectly on my computer(3.0 ghz p4ht,1.0 ghz ram,7800gtx)
cant wait foe the 4th one blood money

a must game for everyone tired of all the old just shoot oneway dum kinda games.

"Probebly, the best put together hitman..."
This game folks, is one of my favorite games ever made, ever. I don't know about what other people think. But, I can tell you this, i've beat hitman 1, 2, and 3 (contracts). I can easily say out of all 3 of the hitmans that i've beaten, this is easily the best one to me.

As for this game being hard. Just about all of the hitman games are difficult, and require technique, practice, and skills.

Now, its time to go over why I like this hitman over the other hitman's.

1. The sneak mode in hitman 2 makes you move ALOT slower than in contracts. I don't know about people calling this "realistic". In reality, when you move quicker in sneak mode, they are apt to not be aware of their surroundings as soon.

2. As for me beating hitman 1, and not going to enjoy contracts. Bullshit, I enjoyed every minute of contracts, and how the levels were redesigned, as well as re-put together. The whole point of playing a game is to "have fun" right? of course. Just play, do what you can, and have fun.

3. In hitman 2, the music is WAY louder than the people talking, and the gun shots too. I like to hear the gun shots, and people talking just as loud, or at least under my control, to control it. Hitman 2 however, dosn't allow you to do this, you can only bring "The voices" so loud, and "The SOUND EFX" so loud. The sound quality of the gun shots arn't so hot either, esp. compared to the ones in contracts.

4. I am not really interested in hearing about "47's Personal Life". In hitman 2, they made up some dumb "Story" about his "Personal" life, and what kind of person he is. Lets face it, he is 47, hes no joke, he is out there to do his job, he kills, and I play the game to do "His job".

5. If you play hitman 1, and compare it to Hitman: Contracts. You can easily, and most definatly tell that Hitman 1 is not nearly as well as a put together game as Contracts. I am not going to get into why, because there is too many reasons to name why. Just play it, and you will see..

6. As for the guns in Hitman 2, when you go to select the gun in that menu. The gun models arn't nearly as well "made" as the ones in contracts, and I could actually imagine the gun models in the way that make it as black plastic toys.

7. In Hitman: Contracts, the first mission begins as you getting out of where your at alive, and escape from getting killed from a SWAT team thats after you, thats some intense action. In hitman 2, your first mission begins as you saving your "priest" friend, after they show that dumb story line of "47's" (Note: 47's priest friend got kidnapped before your first mission, its the very beginning story line of hitman 2...). I don't know about you guys, but i'd rather be escaping from a SWAT team that wants to track me down, and kill me.

8. I am not interested in taking my time to go to the computer, in hitman 2 to start the next mission. In contracts, it brings you right to the mission, thats all I want, how about you?

9. The syringe in Contracts is pretty useful, You can inject who you need to for the mission with it, and he will be unconscious for a long enough time to do your thing to complete the mission. In hitman 2, They have this stupid bottle thing you use to knock somebody out. The reason why its stupid, is right when they are knocked out, they get back up in no longer than 20 seconds. Sounds like a waste of time to me..

10. The ending in hitman 2 is kind of boring, I am not going to get into why it is because thats for you to find out, and me not to tell you. The ending in contracts puts me into a state of thoughts, thats all i'm going to tell you..

I could go on, and on with more reasons why I like contracts the best. But this is probebly enough to be helpful to you. I like all of the hitmans, above is just why I like contracts definatly the most, and I personally think some people that have reviewed this item have been giving it a bad rep.. By the way the Hitman 2 Soundtrack is a masterpiece, and Jesper Kyds: Hitman music is one of my bigger influences.

I don't care if you give me a non-helpful review, saying that I know what I like about this game, and i've beat all 3 of the hitmans.

To the ones that give me a good review, thank you.. Have a good day...

Later,

Yuri

"Disappointing to say the least"
Ok, I bought Hitman: Contracts and thought that it would be a great TPS/stealth game. Alas, it wasn't to be. For a start, the game itself doesn't play all that well, with less than adequate framerates (even though my computer specs are higher than what is recommended)

I found it extremely difficult, even on Easy, to approach a guard and kill him stealthily, without alerting the other guards and causing a bloodbath. I understand the game requires patience but I'm not going to remain hidden in the shadows for 10 minutes just so that I can assassinate a couple of guards.

The controls are also annoying and take alot of time to get used to, even if you configure them to your own liking. There also don't appear to be any health packs so that you can replenish your health. If you die, you die, and there's nothing you can do about it. It may be more realistic that way but it's also less enjoyable.

There are also a limited number of saves (7) that you can use for each mission. So, for example, if you did a quick save and suddenly lost most of your energy early on in the game, it will be almost impossible to complete the mission without starting right from the beginning, which makes it very cumbersome.

All in all, I was very disappointed and from a personal point of view, would not recommend this game.

"Hitman Contracts is excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I totally enjoy this game. I like especially the many ways you can execute your missions. I enjoy also the different sounds the game makes when you reach different stages. There is a sound when danger is near, there is a sound that indicates cruel victory when you have accomplished your mission and are able to escape. To sum it up the game is EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

"Basically, a not-so-good expansion pack."
If you haven't played any of the Hitman games, then I highly recommend going for the previous game in the series: "Hitman 2: Silent Assassin." You will find more missions, nicer looking locales (OK, so rain will look just a tad less realistic, but it will not affect the game), a slightly more coherent plot and, last but not the least, a gorgeously executed soundtrack.

This game, however, has little to show. Where the previous game excelled in innovative solutions and attention to details, this game shows nothing but mediocrity. Players are presented with meager 12 missions played as reminiscences by the protagonist about past contracts. As naive and stilted as the previous game's plot was, this game barely has any plot at all. There are just disconnected missions. Unlike the previous game, the locales look dull and boring with much less space to explore. Weather effects, like rain, got improved a bit, which apparently prompted the designers to go overboard: of 12 missions, about 10 are sporting rainy weather.

The soundtrack... Well, as far as I know there is NO soundtrack! All missions I played had the same primitive tune, which made the game even more annoying. This is strikingly different from the previous game with the soundtrack to remember.

The gameplay is not much different compared to Hitman 2. Changes are minor, good and bad alike. Good (in my opinion) changes include the fact that you now only get one syringe per mission. This makes missions more challenging as you now have to carefully plan your way around if you want to achieve the Silent Assassin rating. Another good change is the fact that on several missions you are getting frisked at various points making you devise plans that don't include guns.

Other changes are pretty annoying. For example, you no longer can pick the weapons for missions. You are being dropped with whatever the game designers thought would be appropriate. Also, if you do achieve the Silent Assassin rating on a mission, you are given some nice weapon as a prize. That is great except that there is no way for you to use that weapon or to take it on a mission. I wonder what the game designers were thinking when they came up with that "feature."

Interestingly, an annoying bug that made the game to quietly ignore the save request in case there were too many saved games is still present, prompting me to check whether the game was truly saved after each save attempt.

Overall, while I am pleased with more "Hitman" to play, I am generally unsatisfied with this game. Even if it was issued as an expansion pack for the original game, it would still be lacking. It is especially sad given that Eidos did an excellent job with the previous game. They could have basically issued the same game with different missions and it would have been a success. Unfortunately, they dropped the ball with this game. I just hope that they learn on their mistakes and the next game in the series will be as entertaining as the old ones.

What our customer's say!

"A blast from 47's past", Contracts begins where the original Hitman ends: Agent 47 must break out of the asylum, aka cloning facility, he was created in. Yes, the original Hitman's wonky controls and camera are history, and you can actually save limited times during missions, just like Hitman 2 Silent Assassin.

There are multiple ways to play out missions, but the stealthiest choices require precise timing. Among the scenarios are revamped versions of five levels seen in the first game in the series.

The AI has been beefed up, making these sprawling levels very challenging: enemies are as watchful as cobras. Furthermore, you cannot disappear by simply stepping in the shadows (like Manhunt), and any unnecessary movements will get you lined up in somebody's crosshairs.

Yet even with these good points, I can't help but be disappointed with the game. I still felt like I was playing nothing more than a glorified expansion pack.

"Not a Legal Resource", Wow! This was definitely not a "do it yourself" contract kit for wanna-be hitmen - it was a game. There are no copies of contracts, nor any direction on how to draw up and notorize contracts on either disk. The game itself was insanely fun, and I couldn't believe how many different ways there were to complete each mission. After finishing this game I replayed the entire thing using different methods - I should be able to replay each mission about 100 times before I run out of creative options - that makes this a super value.

"Hitman revisited", This game is a big improvement over its predecessor. You have more options on how to complete your mission. No more alerts going off when simply walking past people. For gamers who like stealth games, this is one of the few high-rollers.

"Hitman Contracts great game", Hitman Contracts is a great game! The graphics are excellent. You are an assassin wit an arsenal of weapons at your disposal. The mission of the game is that you work for an agency and receive different murder contracts to preform. (On the side of good!) The action is none stop, and the interactivity is great. The key board functions on this game are not to complicated ether.

"Well done but definitely not for everyone", I'm reminded of a quote from the movie Grosse Point Blank. Marty Blank has become a hitman and returns to his high school for his ten year reunion. He's explaining his career to his old girlfriend who he still loves:

Marty: "Seriously, when I left, I joined the Army and took the service exam. They found my psych results fit a certain profile. A certain "Moral flexibility" would be the best way to describe it... I was loaned out to a CIA-sponsored program. It's called "mechanical operations." We sort of found each other...

I'd be very careful in allowing teenagers to play this game. It is a nice change of pace as far as not having to shoot at *everything* and actually being rewarded for allowing innocent bystanders to live even if you do end up disabling them at the time. I also like the idea that bodies just don't 'vanish' and other characters will notice them and raise the alarm if you don't hide them, or if they regain consciousness and go ratting on you. I appreciate the stealth aspect and having to interact with the characters, doing the social engineering bit.

The only problems I had with it was the level in the BDSM party at the meat processing plant. Pretty gory, didn't bother me, but I had to play it when my kids weren't around. It was mostly just the things going on giving that particular level 'ambience' which would actually make me laugh out loud. It is sad to realize that people really do that kind of stuff, and so I'm not criticizing it for its realism, just saying it's something you have to keep in mind as not being a *good* thing to practice, in real life. It's especially something to keep in mind when considering teenagers who are forming their sexual identity and morals and how that kind of imagery will affect them.

But other than that, the strategy involved is definitely different. I did end up needing a walkthrough on the last level, as it then turns into a major shootout (for which you are not equipped!) if you don't think incredibly fast, and know just what to do. Almost all the time I can figure out how to beat it without a walkthrough, but I was pretty much helpless on that last level.

"lots of fun", Hitman Contracts continues the story of 47's escape from the asylum. The game starts off good and creepy with great graphics.True to the rating, this game is definetly for mature players or players with a strong stomach to gore and cold blooded behavior.Unlike a lot of games, you have to think this game out. It's aplay again game and worth buying.

"Could've Used A Little More Effort", Building upon a tried and true foundation, IO Interactive releases the 3rd (though might more rightfully be called 2 1/2) Installment of the Hitman series. Admittedly not nearly as interesting or inspired as the superb Silent Assassin, Contracts is none the less a worthy addition to the francise.

The decision to mix old missions with new ones can be taken as a mixed blessing. On the bright side it gives veteran Hitmen a chance to play the missions with a more modern take. The general presentation of Hitman has much improved since the original, and while I've not gotten to any of the throwback missions yet; they are supposed to be at least somewhat "remixed" from the originals. Furthermore, the idead also serves as sort of a "greatest hits" (no pun) for newcomers.

Visually, the game is only slightly upgraded from its predicessor, mostly to take advantage of more modern graphics card abilities. Personally I think this is great since the engine itself still looks and performs quite nicely.

Sound effects and musical score are both very nice though I woe to the exclusion of the subtle "twang" emitted when you tighten up the fibre wire in preparation for a takedown. Jesper Kyd's score shines as always, adding appropriate mood and drama where each is necessary.

The overall gameplay, while steadilly refined since its original incarnation, is still largely the same. While this isn't necessarilly bad, it does lend even more familiarity to a game that already treads along the lines of "been there, done that."

All in all Hitman 2 1/2 is still a solid game despite somewhat uninspired execution. (the puns the puns!) If nothing else it definitely serves to wet one's appetite for the upcomming 4th installment.

"Great shoot up game", I had a great time playing this game. great graphics, sound, blood and bullet holes. It is a real bloody game. It has 12 missions and was a bit short for me. I will still replay this game a bit later.

"More intense action with good ol' Agent 47!", Hitman: Contracts is another solid addition to the very entertaining Hitman series. It maintains the tension, open-endedness, great graphics, and convincing atmosphere of Hitman 2 and adds a few improvements. Overall, Contracts is not as good as Hitman 2, which is one of my favorite games of all time. Contracts offers only 12 missions, has inferior music, has some minor technical issues, and a few other problems. The game is not completely open-ended, since you do have set objectives and cannot progress to the next mission without completing them. However, you do have some options regarding how you approach a mission. It's really a game that's worth playing at least twice just to take advantage of the alternative ways of completing the various missions. For anyone who is a fan of the Hitman series or likes stealth games, I recommend Contracts (but try to get it at a discounted price). However, it is best to play it after playing Hitman 2, which is the real star in this fine game series.

Gameplay: Much the same as Hitman 2. The controls (mouse and keyboard) are easy to learn, and you can play the game from 1st- or 3rd-person perspectives. The game encourages stealth and conflict avoidance and rewards you for clean kills and limiting "collateral damage." However, you can approach a mission any way you'd like: you can go in with guns blazing, use a mix of stealth and aggressive tactics, or go for the coveted rating of "silent assassin." The sneak ability is improved over Hitman 2, allowing you to move faster while in stealth mode. Also, some of the levels are rather large, and you'll have to replay them in order to just get a feel for them and to determine possible strategies. Contracts is darker than the previous games, both in regard to weather (it's always raining or snowing) and the subject matter. Curiously, some of the earlier missions are harder than later ones. I found that the SWAT missions were the most intense, and the Hong Kong missions were the easiest to achieve the "silent assassin" rating on. On expert (medium) difficulty, the game lasted about 27 hours for me, as compared to Hitman 2 which lasted over 40. You could probably finish it in less than half that time if you didn't care about your rating and went in shooting everything (which does not always work).

The game does have its flaws. My biggest problem was the fact that you couldn't bring weapons that you found in one mission (or earned through getting the "silent assassin" rating) into new missions. This was a BIG oversight on the part of the developers, and one of the reasons that Contracts is clearly inferior to Hitman 2. On the bright side, your weapons are nicely displayed in a greatly expanded training area, and you can choose to use whichever ones you'd like if you replay completed missions. Also, you can conceal a sniper rifle in a carrying case in some of the missions. Still, one of the most impressive things about Hitman 2 was the freedom to choose your instruments of death and not have to just accept the ones that the game gives you. Another problem is the AI of characters. On a few occasions, my cover was blown for no apparent reason. At other times, I could sneak by guards who appeared to be looking right at me. Overall, Contracts just didn't seem as polished a product as Hitman 2. In places, the game ran slower on my machine, even though it more than surpassed most of the recommended specs. (I think this was mostly due to some of the lighting and weather [snow] effects.) Also, the game crashed to desktop 5 times during my 27 hours of gameplay, for no apparent reason.

Graphics: The game looks quite good. All of the scenary was convincing and immersive, and the weapons looked and behaved as you would expect. Agent 47 walks as cool as ever, and his sneaking looks better too. However, I hope that Hitman 4 does a better job with the way he runs, which still looks...uncool. Cut-scenes are all nicely done and tie the various missions together. Character models are well illustrated, and weather effects create a gloomy mood. Lighting effects are great, but will slow down game performance in a few places.

Sound: Convincing for the most part. Voice acting is good and has the appropriate accents. Ambient sounds are done well, as are the sounds of weapons. The largely techno soundtrack by Jesper Kyd is not nearly as good as his excellent orchestral work for Hitman 2, but it will do. Overall, there are no notable sound issues in this game.

"Not prefect", Hitman Contracts is not a prefect game by a long shot but it did offer a few improvements to the franchise.

Improvements:

Graphics were improved to some degree, mirrors reflected (they did not in Hitman Silent Assassin) and basically a face lift

Some sound effects has improved (Rain)

The Music was definitely better than the previous two, it was dark and some times exhilarating

The storyline has improved also, it moved away from the science fiction of the first, and the heroic stance of the second. It was more dark and intriguing. The ending did not answer all the questions as if paving the way for a fourth installment.

The mood is also more enjoyable, the dark and sadistic atmosphere was at least more enjoyable to me (a women with all her limbs cut off hanging upside down, the ability to poison some annoying horses!)

There were really no filler levels like the previous installments

There are more locations than any of the other installments (Romania, Russia, England, Netherlands, Hungary, China, and France).

The map was improved (now it showed dead people).

More weapons and reintroduction of some that were dropped by Hitman Silent Assassin (Mini Gun, and sniper rifles in suit cases)

The training was better than the previous, it is now completely optional. You can come back to it to try out different weapons you acquired on missions and you can even try your skills and weapons on real people!

The people are not as strict and let you run around more instead of having to annoyingly walk everywhere.

There were things that have not improved:

The annoying interface (I want my saved games separate from my auto saves).

The AI is still quirky at best.

Normally police ask you to freeze before blowing the daylights out of you.

AI still does not recognize pools of blood or inconsistent races (case in point a Hong Kong triad boss will usually not be a white, blue-eyed westerner.

It is still too easy to blast your way through (come on, give us some incentive to use stealth).

There were steps back also:

Certain sound effects are dampened or missing (fiber wire), I do have their recommended sound card (an Audigy 2 ZS).

Certain sound effects are buggy if you do not update your drivers.

Some missions are exact copies (about 5) and some are rather similar (about 3) out of 12 missions this makes most of the world familiar and in some cases extremely easy to accomplish your missions because you already know what to do from Hitman Codename 47.

Only 12 missions, the only reason Hitman Codename 47 got away with it is because it is super hard and it did not repeat it self.

Verdict

Fun but the flaws cannot be overlooked for it to get a perfect score. 8/10 or 4/5 stars.
