"Fun, Short"
PD expands on SC1's exciting gameplay, but if you're expecting a game as long or engrossing as the original, it'll be a little dissapointing. It can be said that the shorter single player experience is offset by the groundbreaking multiplayer mode (which is a great game in its own right), but the game's been out for so long now you might as well get Chaos Theory if that's what you're after.

"Great game!"
I have a Sony dru720a dvd rw /xp and this program loaded with little problems. Ths shortcut provided to start the game doesn't work, but there is another one in the program files under Splinter Cell which works every time.
Yes this is a linear game but it is very well done and plays through with little frustration and tons of enjoyment. I really didn't expect to much from this title but was pleasantly suprised.
Other than the installation hassle, this is a 5 star game

"ha cdrw issues i can fix dat"
the game runs fine u just didnt look very hard for cracks try www.crackspider.net and if that dont work spend $10 and get a cheapo cd-rom or better yet use it as an exuse to by a dvd-rom for $20 it runs fine now off my 52x cd-r/rw (no name $10 clearance) on an MSI nforce2 motherboard with a Athlon XP 2000+ through dolby digital optical out, 512mb 2100 ddr ram and running on a 17in princton ultra75e get vid fed through the achilles heal of my system a asus geforce4 ti4200 with the 4x agp bus and 64mb of onboard ram buy download the crack and play on. everyone knows that the game industry hates the burners and wat there doin is not really all that leagal b/c u can make a copy for back up purposes so not to damage the original! eat that ubi soft

"Wasted $"
Just blew $35 on Far Cry and Pandora Tomorrow ... no more purchases from UBI Software ... guess we all have to install regular CD drives to play this company's games ... well, I'm physically disabled and not going to pay $50 for some to install a $20 part to play a $20 game(... one company's games) ... so many decent games out there(FPS/RPG/RTS), I'm not jumping through hoops to play anyones game ... if it doesn't work on my system, as it is, I'll pass - I have no copy software, just one basic CD-RW drive that came with my computer ... I hope UBI Software take a nice revenue hit for this bs anti-piracy nonsense

"Great Game But..."
This is a great game to play, no doubt. Unlike in the fisrt game, you can knock dudes out without killing them. Make sure to check the system requierments and comfirm they are up to par. I had to upgrade my video card in order to play, but it was definitly worth it.

What our customer's say!

"I can't take it anymore", I'm on the second mission and I'm bored to death. It must be a training mission still, but the gameplay is ULTRA linear. I'm not having any fun at all. I haven't been allowed to use my gun at all yet. I had MUCH more fun with the rainbow six series. I've played through at least 4 of those. This game feels like I'm just doing what the game tells me to do.

"Great game. I can't wait to play the sequels.", The graphics are great, controls are easy to use, and the plot actually has some depth. I can't wait to play the next two chapters in the Splinter Cell line, Chaos Theory and Double Agent.

"Why is it that the second installment in a series is always mediocre?", I'm not going to make an exhaustive review, but I'll quickly say that this SC was not as good as its predecessor nor its successor. My reasons for this follow:

1. The actual game performance is a drag. Both other games run much better than this installment on a machine that is less than top-of-the-line.

2. The sound and music quality took a real dive. The characters, so realistically recorded in other SC installments, sound more like stand-ins or placeholders in this game. It really detracts from the cinematic quality when Hispanic characters in the room sound like Midwestern Americans talking over a radio. The music tracks...I don't know what they're supposed to be, but they sound like they were dubbed on an old and worn-out cassette recorder.

3. A major drag is the characters themselves. Sam Fisher, instead of being darkly cavalier and slightly funny, is now just dark. I quote from SC 1:
[in a parking garage, Fisher grabs a driver from behind and begins to interrogate him.]
Fisher: I'm going to ask you some questions. When I think you're lying, I'll do this.
[driver whimpers as Fisher does something that causes some pain, though we can't see exactly what it is.]

[In the basement of another building, in the middle of a firefight, Fisher receives word that Vyacheslav Grinko, professional bad man, is on his way down to handle him personally. Lambert, Fisher's boss, hears it too.]
Lambert [over the radio]: Fisher, kill Grinko.
Fisher [with restrained glee]: Okay.

Or from SC 3:
[Again, Fisher grabs an armed soldier from behind and begins asking questions.]
Soldier: Are you going to kill me?
Fisher: Only if you say "monkey."
[conversation progresses...]
Fisher: Are you going to say monkey?
Soldier: No!
Fisher: Then this conversation is over.

No such wit in Pandora Tomorrow. The characters are all so grave that you'd think they would have a heart attack any moment. And Michael Ironside, the voice of Sam Fisher, at times sounds more like he's doing an impression of Vin Diesel as Riddick. Don't get me wrong, I like the Riddick universe too, but the two just don't blend.

Now, I'm not saying that you should not buy this game, but I'm sure not saying that you should. Just keep in mind that these are the downers by comparison to the other games in this series.

"Never would install.", Never could get this to install even after changing the DVDR drive for a DVDrom drive. UBIsoft needs to get it's act together. It is no good alienating paying customers to stop copying by others. If you pay for a product it should work.

"Great single player game, if a little limited.", I'm not sure I'm a fan of this relatively new genre of stealth FPS. However, born out of the Thief Series, Splinter Cell has to be the best example of this Genre.

I read many reviews from disgruntled would-be customers over the copyright protection and the use with CDRW drives. I have separate DVD-ROM and and DVD-RW drives so I did not come across this problem. I have a lot of simpathy with publishers trying to protect their property from theft, however its obviously back-fired in this case as its made enemies of legitimate users. Unfortunately my experience of copy protection is that anyone who wants not to pay for the game will find a way of doing so, whether that be by copying, patching of borrowing, so draconian copy protection only serves to upset your customers and does little to deter people who would never pay money in any case :o(.

Anyway - back to the game proper. I really enjoyed Pandora Tomorrow. There are times when i would have really liked to have gone in guns blazing (and at the end I did) but mostly if you do you just get killed - thats fair :o). There were always intelligent ways of achieving your objectives if you looked for them and its all the more realistic for not having to deal with being shot 100 times... The emphasis is on stealth and puzzle solving, finding the best way to take people out without (a) them seeing you first and (b) anyone else raising the alarm.

The game was long enough to feel you got your moneys worth and engaging enough to play it again after a few months. All in all definitely one for the gaming enthusiasts buy list.

"Great game but...", I wouldn't recommand purchasing this game unless you have a regular CD / DVD player. I spent the last couple weeks talking to UBI and online forums. Finally figured out their retarded copy protection (smartdisk I think it's called) checks if you can burn disks. If so then it will bring up a GPF screen. I've tested it on the same hardware with a regular player. Works fine. The DVD burner (a Sony) works great for HL2, Doom 3 and other mainstream games. Even installing with the player and switching to the burner didn't work. You must have a player. Period. This is why I rate the game 3 instead of a 5.

On to the game. Yep, Sam Fisher is awesome (I installed a DVD player now along with the burner). I just arrived at the US Embassy in E. Timor. Graphics are AMAZING! I've played SP1 and expected SP2 to be at least as good. Game play very well done. I recommend it IF you don't have a burner (Sorry UBI, that only slightly slows pirates and annoys people who actually purchase the product).

"Some great updates to the original.", If you are coming off playing the original and thinking about getting Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow then chances are you liked the first one. If you liked the first one there is nothing about Pandora that will disappoint. It exceeds the original in almost every category.

There are a few new moves in this outing. They are easy to learn and incorporate if you are already accustomed to the first game. If you have not played the first SC, then you will have a much higher learning curve. I would also recommend playing the original first, as it is extremely cheap right now and very fun. The original will hone your skills for taking Pandora on.

Pandora bests the original in graphics and also corrects some strange behaviors that were in place in the original game. The most noticeable is the absence of bullet-proof light bulbs. My friends and I use to have fun pointing out that flaw in the original. We would joke around about how terrorists shouldn't be in it for the money if they had enough to install so many bullet-proof lightbulbs. We would also go on about "boo-let-pruf-leit-bulbs" in thick russian accents - good times. So far all light-bulbs in this game are breakable. I still do not understand why there is no option to simply unscrew a lightbulb. You still have to waste a bullet (or find a throwable glass bottle) to create some cover of darkness.

A new welcome feature in Pandora is the quicksave/load. I played the original on the X-box, so this might not be new in the PC versions. I don't know how many times I had to execute a sequence of events that took 15 minutes just so I could mess up time and time again at some difficult spot right before the checkpoint. No such headache here.

A few new improvements include an indicator that tells you exactly how many times you can be spotted before the mission is compromised and an indicator that tells you when bodies are sufficiently hidden.

Pandora is a fun continuation of the original. It suffers from the sequel syndrome - that it may have not lived up to expectations of some, but this is certainly a great outing for ubisoft - irregardless of their attempts to curb piracy that only serve to alienate their fanbase.

"So your having CD-RW Issues eh...", If your reading this, scan down and read about the person who blames this game and the company who made it because of CD-RW issues, and because it won't start up at all. I have a tip for that person. Read the "Readme files", most games don't run good or run at all on CD-RW drives, which are "CD burner" disk drives. da... That's why your game is not wanting to load. The game like most PC games only run on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drives. Always read the "Readme Files" Any game with Tom Clancy's name on it, believe me it has been tested to work on Windows 98, me, 2000, XP and on quite a bit of hardware too.

I just bought this game and have not really finished it yet. So I don't know how good it is all the way through...

"ZERO, ZILCH, NADA LAPTOP SUPPORT", If you are buying this for your laptop, DON'T. I walked into a retail store and picked up a few games. This one was one that DID NOT MENTION anything about no laptop support on the box. I bought it and opened the box only to read in the instructions INSIDE that it did not support some laptop chipsets. Boy, did my opinion of UBISOFT just go down. I installed it anyways in hopes of still salvaging the software, but was met with a notification that I didn't meet the requirements. Hrumph, big surprise. Nevertheless, it doesn't work on a laptop, so don't buy it if you are in hopes of that.

"Wait for the price drop", To sum it up, the games great. I didn't have any problems wit the installation, and the graphics were exceptional on my Radeon 9800 Pro. Only downside? Too short. Beat the game on normal mode in exactly 7 days. Still an awesome game though, and theres nought more satisfying than luring someone into a corner, grabbing them, and smacking them upside the head with your pistol. Just wait for the price to go down a bit, to make your enjoyment complete.
