"can get tiring........" good, solid, game. but the AI isn't anything speicial. eventually you get tired of seeing the same battle happen over and over and over again. The campaign is not that great either. if youre looking for a good campaign get red alert 2 and yuris revenge.
"Great over a network playing multiplayer" One of our favorite games. We bought a second copy to play over our wireless network. It is great to team up and play against the computer or have a duel match against each other. The adult, the 20 year old, and the 12 year old all love to play. It is a great game to play stand-alone but even more fun playing multiplayer.
The computer intelligence in the game is really good, and even though it's a tad old, it's a classic in our house.
"GREAT GAME!" Me and my boys play each other online with a local network connection. We spend hours having fun together.
"It is only the best" well, since my computer is outdated and i cant try some newer games, i had already played c&c generals ZH, and i knew it was the best game my computer can stand. it is action, plus strategy, plus fun, plus a lot. the network gameplay is so fun, and cool. it is better than playing counter strike in lan, more passion, and concentration is required. and the solo play is also one of the bests, although the computer hasn't that much intelligence, it wouldnt stoop sending you some troubles.
just too cool to describe well
"Same ol' same ol'" Westwood's Red Alert was a lot of fun back in the day. I was hoping that Generals would be equally as fun for its time. However, with no fmv to reward me for my accomplishments, this game falls short. There is really no incentive to buy this game over anything made in the 90's, except slightly better graphics.
The AI is gross as well. Having a group of tanks move in to take out a bunker is like pulling teeth. If there is a small obstical in the way, they won't move around it, and one guy will try to go in while the rest decide it's not possible.
It's one of the many games that feels like EA just shoved out the door as quick as they could to make a quick buck.

What our customer's say!
"Command & Conquer Generals & Zero Hour", A step up from the original C&C games with better and more realistic game play and weapons. You can only choose from three different countries this time but there are many different types of styles you can choose to be. For example you can be the United States, but you can choose from three different Generals; Air Force General, Super Weapons General, and Laser General. Make sure that your processor and video card are in accordance with the minimum needed to play the game so you don't have a lot of lag and make the game less fun for yourself!
"I wasted waaaaaaaay too much time playing this game online", I doubt it is as popular online now since there have been many great new additions to the RTS game genre the last couple of years, but this will go down as one of the best. Why? 12 different armies to choose from, each with their advantages and disadvantages and quirks to master, fast paced games based on combat rather than economy building. I doubt there will be anything as good for a long time.
"Great game and training in strategy", I asked a friends son what to give my nephew who lives out of the country. This game and another version I purchased were highly recommended by both the son and his father. Now we have to find out if there is any problem playing it in South American.
"An oldie but a goodie!", I've been a fan of this series of games for over 10 years, but just recently have had the equipment to play network games in the house with my 2 boys. C&C Generals and C&C Zero Hour, which both come in the deluxe edition, are old games by today's technology standards, but they are still excellent if you want some interactive and strategic fun--and even better if your machines are not all the highest powered PCs on the market.
I bought multiple copies, because you'll need separate licenses if you want to play a networked game. My sons and I have gravitated toward C&C Zero Hour, because it has a plethora of weapons and landscapes. There are 3 levels (Easy, Medium, and Hard) in Zero Hour. From our perspective, Medium is the equivalent of C&C General's Hard--it's tough! This is a good thing, because Zero Hour's Hard level provides constant challenges!
We have had no difficulties playing with 2 computers networked together. We have encountered difficulty connecting 3 machines together. Sometimes things get so out of sync that we have to reboot each machine and start over. I don't know if this is a quirk of the game or if it's something with my network. We can live with it tho, because we have a blast playing the game together.
Here are a few ways of playing that we've enjoyed:
You can always play with everyone taking on everyone else. Of course, my boys usually happen to gang up on me, and they are now good enough that I'm toast. Now, we'll set up teams and I'll get to have an "easy" army on my team. It helps a little... ;-)
If you can, place all the computers in your network close together--it really contributes to some good natured smack-talk!
Put yourselves on the same team and take on a couple of hard armies. That presents a great challenges and forces siblings to work together. This has been great.
If you have an inexperienced or young player, put a medium or hard army on their team. It balances things out very well.
And finally, have headphones for every player if you're all within hearing distance. Otherwise your opponents will quickly figure out what your strategy is!
Highly recommend the games, even though they're dated. These are classics and not that difficult for younger players to learn. Have fun!
"Excellent. Buy it now. It is still a great game.", This is one of the best real time strategy (RTS) game ever. I have been playing this game for two years with my friend online, and we are still playing it. If you still didn't have this game, go and buy one.
Units are not so futuristic, so you can realize the power of the units. One spiderlike tank is not killing the entire army with one shot. So that is good. Huge variety of land units, air strikes, mines, intelligence units and etc. You can earn experience, after destroying enemy units and you can gain new points to earn new technologies. Unit and technology variety is great.
One of the best features in the game is resource management. One type of resource makes you to concentrate on strategy. If all resources in the map are collected, you can still make money by building alternative resource collecting units/buildings. If you like long games like I do, this is a great attribute. I remember playing Red Alert or Starcraft with my friends at LAN party. Every game was the same. We were attacking each other with super high technology for first 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we were attacking each other with stones and arrows, just because of resources were depleted on the map. Game makers should place this property to all new generation RTS's games (I hope Blizzard considers resource generation or alternative resource production in Starcraft 2).
Game is relatively old, so you can play with almost any system with no problem. Graphics are still good, and game is created on 3D basis. You can rotate or zoom the map. I have a three year old, cheap and on-board video carded laptop. Although these negative computer configuration, I play this game fluently and having great fun.
If you are looking for great RTS, this is one of them.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Brought it long time ago...", Good: -Fun game to play. -Graphic is great. -oh yeah.... u need to use your brain too. (AI do cheat a little bit)
Bad: -When's the actor and actress? I like original CNC, RA and RA2 coz they find real people to play dramma in the game. -The game is so addictive.... I've been gaining couple pounds since this game is on the markets.
"Great Gameplay but Extremely Buggy", The game itself is one of the most fun RTS's I have ever played. It's not extremely imbalanced and the graphics are very pleasing to the eye.
The reason I gave the overall game 1 star is becuase of the poor technical quality. The minimum system requirements are an 800 MHz processor, 128 MB of RAM, and a 32 MB video card (GeForce 2 or higher).
I have a 2.4 GHz processor, 1024 MB of RAM, and a 256 MB GeForce FX 5500. Should be able to run the game smoothly, but even on lowest settings and resolution I get extremely poor framerates and occasional crashes to desktop. Usually 5-10 minutes into a game the fps drops to 5-10 and it's impossible to play. EA has stopped supporting this game so there are no patches to fix this issue that a lot of people seem to be having. Do not buy this game, even if your computer should be able to handle it.
"Generals", Command and Conquer returns with one of the best RTS games I've ever played. It breaks from the mold of a construction site to build all buildings and the side bar for any building or traning. The graphics are superb, although the infantry are a little blocky. The terrain looks real, you can see wind in the trees and dust getting kicked up by helicopters. The game is easy to play, you can get it down in and hour tops. Using construction units and training units directly out of buildings is a big improvement over the others of the series. The gameplay is slower paced than the others, allowing you to really build up a base before widespread fighting starts. The new airfields are amazing, allowing better control of the aircraft. My only real complaints are that there are no docks or naval units, except in one campaign which is great if a little short. Also, although the civilizations units are diverse, and the generals adds further differences, the lack of civilizations takes away from the game.
"Great Game, poor support ", This is one of the best games of all time.
The problem is with the new patch for Zero Hour version 1.04. When playing with a full map (8 players, 7 of them AI), the game is very choppy, even with a new PC on the lowest settings. I have experienced this problem on my PC, a Athlon 64 3700+, 1GB RAM, NVidia 7600GT Graphics card, with Windows XP SP2.
The only solution is to use v1.03, but if you want online play, you must use the latest version 1.04.
"some flaws, but still a fantastic game!", Got hooked from the very first C&C game. This release has the best graphics so far. However, the units are limited compared to RA2, where you could have K9 units, and submarines. Of course, the price of good graphics is a lack in the play. I'm hoping the next version will bring the best of past versions and the graphics advancement.
