"Fun Game!"
It was a lot of fun. I didn't expect it to be so much like an arcade game.

To the developers: I would like to have games like CoD but taking place in Viet Nam, Iraq, and the pacific theater of WW2. How come virtually the only enemies you get to shoot in war games are Germans? I think that really SUCKS! I want to also shoot Japanese, Vietnamese, and Muslims. I especially want to shoot Muslims after 911 and everything. I also think it'd be fun to nuke Japan in a game. I'm really tired of shooting Germans. Give us some different frigging enemies! All you game companies are missing a lot of easy money by not making an FSP about Iraq.

"Exciting WW2 FPS"
I bought Call of Duty recently. A friend suggested, with CoD 2 and 3 out, why bother with CoD 1? Well I figured I would give it a try to know if I liked the series before going on to the more expensive versions. I was not disappointed. It is a great game, and although I'm sure the newer games have better graphics and stuff, this game does not feel outmoded at all. I only missed the chance of playing as German in the single-player campaign, but this game is all about the Allies. Excellent anyway.

"Best First Person Shooter to have if you only have one"
While there are many improved FPS games out there that are improved in graphics and complexity, this is the one game you should learn to be good at before you ever move on to online or other, more difficult First Person Shooter or multi-player combat games. This one will make a gamer combat veteran out of you and give you the eye, the reflexes and raise you to a level of competance you'll need for the games you'll move on to. I get this "old" game out every few months, just to remind myself of HOW to game, using all the basics. Best first time FPS made, in my book.

"Call of Duty"
Had a hell of a time installing this game. You need to get a patch for it to work, maybe they've fixed that on later versions. Game play is a blast and very user friendly. Online play can be addicting, be prepared to get waxed until you get good at it. Would like to hit Omaha beach like on Medal.

"Call of Duty, another WWII game that wins the jackpot!"
Call of Duty is a WWII game that takes you around Europe in an anti-Nazi shoot-em up. In the game, you play an American private named Martin, Sgt. Evans of the British, and a Russian sniper, which is a pretty good mix of historical accuracy.

Positive: Apart from killing Nazi's there is lack of swearing, no fear of F-bombs, and Rambo is not welcome. In Battlefield 1942, you had "Springtime for Hitler" Germans who run around shooting for no reason. In Call of Duty, you had some Germans that acted like real people. Please note that the thrill of the kill can be exciting and damaging at the same time.

Negative: Mild language creeps up in this game. Apart from that, the Russians are cruel and though you don't see it, they shoot a deserter which is not a kiddie scene.

Conclusion: Call of Duty is the best WWII game I've played so far. I recommend it, although you should be at least a mature 12+ to play the game.

"Great Game!", Call of Duty is the best WWII Shooter I've ever played. It's realistic, intense, and has a wide range of missions in which you play through all sorts of battles.

The American Campaign is my favorite. As Private Martin, you battle through French towns and countrysides, take a wild car ride through occupied territory, and rescue prisoners from a huge house and later a POW camp. Awesome.

In the British Campaign, you are Sergeant Evans, and assist in taking and holding a bridge, destroying a dam, sinking a battleship and more.

In the Russian Campaign, as Alexi, you fight through Stalingrad, drive T-34 tanks, and capture the Riechstag in Berlin.

The weapons and voice talent are great, although they could have added a little more German death sounds. It gets rather boring hearing the same cry every 10 kills.

Overall, a great game, with plenty of interesting action to keep things stirred up.

"One of the best military-action games on the market...", I've played enough military computer games to know that Call Of Duty: The Game of the Year happens to be a great game. I actually already had this PC game, but it was damaged, so I bought another one knowing how good it was. The best part about this game is that you can also play a multiplayer game on the internet. I also would highly recommend Call Of Duty: United Offensive. This game utilizes tanks, airplanes, jeeps and more weapons. Plus, if you're a military enthusiast life myself, it is amazingly accurate with geography, weaponry, etc.

"WOW!", This game is amazing! one of the reasons I bougth it was that it was supposed to have a long play time and it does! this graphics are much better than most games I've played even though I run them on a low setting due to an old computer. the maps are very well designed, and the AI's are actually difficult to predict because they seem to be smarter than other FPS's I've played.

"Fun for hours", What a Journey!! This game has it all. There was one level which gave my computer trouble loading. The detail and graphics in this game does require a rather robust machine to drive it, but overall it definitely has my recommendation.

"great start to the call of duty family", great game I got for my Birthday.

Pros-

.3 campaigns America at D day, Britain at France, Russa at Stalingrad
.realistic weapons
.Good graphics
.great online multiplayer
.this game got me use to first person shooter games on computer by using the w,a,s,d keys

cons- none

"A Great Game to Get a Kid Interested in History", I bought the game for my son because he was interested in the shooting and war aspects of the game. Soon, however, it became apparent that there was a lot more to Call of Duty. He played as an actual soldier in the American army, the British RAF, and in the Russian Army. He learned about various battles in WWII, as well as how to identify ships, planes, and tanks from the era. He also learned that war wasn't always glamourous and cool. The best thing that happened during the time he played this game was that he became motivated to go and look up the history behind the battles he simulated.

I'm sure not all kids will have this sort of motivation after playing this game, but the fact that he did impresses me. This is not just another shoot-the-enemy-for-points game. This is a game that allows people to get a taste of what the "greatest generation" experienced on the battle fields of Europe.

"Cheap fun multiplayer war action", I've actually only played single-player for about five minutes just to learn the moves on this game and the rest of the time have gone online for the multiplayer, which is great fun.

Like Vampire Bloodlines, I recently bought this at the reissued price of $20 AUD and it has already earned it's price in hours of entertainment.

Great that the servers still have quite a lot of players online, despite this game having been out a while, and the action is certainly addictive and quite intense.

It's as realistic as it needs to be and has a good atmosphere. Definitely one for Saving Private Ryan fans.

"AI is horrible, not realistic, but a fun game.", Personaly I feel Medal of Honor was better constructed. Medal of Honor has way better squad AI and the game flows better. It's also a bit more exciting. Nothing beats the Omaha beach mission.

Now for Call of Duty. DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO SAYS THE AI IS GOOD. The squad AI is the worst I've ever seen. My advice to anyone who wishes to stay alive is to lead your squad-mates to their deaths before they kill you. And never listen to anything they tell you to do. Examples of how bad the AI is.
-Your squad-mates will ignore enemies who are right in front of them.
-They'll yell grenade when an enemy throws one but instead of running away they'll duck down right next to it and blow up.
-They'll shoot endlessly at an enemy but will never hit them.
-They never EVER cover you when you need them to. For instance when your on an AA cannon, your leader will be yelling at you to fire down planes, but your squad mates wont cover you from ground troops and you end up getting shot to death... repeatedly.
-They'll yell, "Get down", or "look out" for no reason at all.

The list goes on and on, it's really very bad. Again, TERRIBLE AI.

On the plus side, the graphics are great, the sounds are good, and the missions are fun. You play the roles of a Russian, Brit, and American which makes it a little more interesting... although doesn't really flow. One minute your a Russian, next minute your an American, and so on. There's nothing to really tie the missions together.

All in all I would say it's well worth the money, but Medal of Honor was far more exciting and original.

"BEST FPS EVER! Forget medal of honor!", This game is amazing. It has good graphics and great gameplay. I like it a lot better than medal of honor because it is just more realistic. in moh you blast through a whole panzer division on your own, in COD it is more realistic because you have squad members with you and the objectives are more realistic.(though you still kill an insane amount of enemies for one guy). Its great because its challenging enought to be fun but not so much that youre stuck playing the same level over and over forever.(like in MOH) The multiplayer is also very good, though you need to beat the campain a few times because some of the online players are freaks they are so good.also when youre playing multiplayer you need to stick to it for a while and find your little niche(charging with a submaching gun, sniping with a sniper or blasting away with an M1)

"Much better than Medal of Honor", When people got Medal of Honor Allied Assualt, they really got into the game and realized how good it was. Call of Duty is much better. You play as the Americans, British, and Russians. I have had this game for over a year, and I am still playing it. When I got it, I beat it on the second day, and started on the next dificulty level. I worked my way up to the hardest one, and it is an enirely diferent experience. It's replay value is incredible. On the hardest dificulty level, you die after only two or three shots, so you get more into the game than ever before. This is the best first person shooter that I have ever played.
