"The Greatest Impirialistic Game..."
I have played generals most of my online times and i dont mind if I am one of the only few who plays this games in the cafe but despite it all i never lose a game of generals.
If you discribe you're self as the future leader of you're country or a phycho leader ready to declear war and then conquer the world and is the best in the class but the most hated person in the class and manages to beat ever one then this is the game for you.
But a warning to all of you gamers of this game. Do not get addicted because this could drive any person crazy. But believe me when i say that this is one of the greatest games i have even played in my intire life.

"Worth having, i know..", I had generals with this zero hour expansion but for some reason my zero hour disc disappeared. Maybe my 2 year old son put it in the trash i don't know but the point is that for a while i was forced to play regular generals after having the expansion and it was quite a change.

Part of the reason zero hour is such a nice addition is that generals originally was limited in some areas. China for example had only one air unit the meig. Zero hour adds a helicopter with multiple upgrade options. The USA used to have one defensive structure the patriot. Zero hour adds a cannon that can hold 4 infantry to beef up the fire power. Zero hour also adds many fine large maps of which generals has few. I'm talking about the 6 and 8 player maps that are great for long time epic wars with a buddy or 2 or 3.

The greatest feature zero hour gives you aside from the obvious additional missions are the more specialized militarys you can play with. Aside from the three main ones USA, China and the sneaky GLA you can now fight with USA airforce a specialized version or GLA chemical, or china infantry or tank. there are three specialized militaries of each; this increases your options from 3 militarys to choose from to 12. It opens up so many strategic possibilities because if you are the airforce specialization of the USA for example that means that while your air units are cheaper your ground units might be more expensive and heavy tanks are not available at all. It just gives you options and that is what we all want.

For those who like to play single player zero hour gives you an extra general's challenge campaign in which you take one specialized military and try to beat all the other 8 specialized militaries(generals) one at a time. Each matchup is fought on a map well suited to your opponent and takes on qualities of both a skirmish and a mission. Once you defeat one you move to the next and at the hardest level it is a chore. Many of the maps for the general's challenge are interesting but unfortunately not available for multiplayer.

Overall this is a great addition to a great game. As usual, always a command and conquer product that is solid all around. No other RTS series delivers such quality time and time again. I have all the C&C games except renegade and all are 5 star quality.

"Great Game", Very good expansion. Better than most. You get many new vehicles and planes along with AC-130 gunships.

"This Game Awsome!", C&C Generals is not complete without the expansion pack. All the cool new units, how detailed the vehicles are,but I would sure like if there were naval units to move around.Naval units only come in the campaign and all you can do is call artillery strikes and aircraft.Even some river boats would be nice.I like the fact your rotate buildings io fit where you want them. When I first got the expansion,I played for hours, more than I played with just plain C&C Generals. If you are ok at strategy games,I recommend putting the difficulty on medium. On easy, you can destroy your enemies with just ten tanks. On hard, you need to start building right away or the enemy will attack 5 minutes in the game.Overall, this is the tightest modern strategy game ever!

"I love this game", I picked this game for my oldest son but end up likeing it so much that I play it more then he does

Read this reviews before You buy...

"No Detention Camp?", I thought that Zero Hour was an insanly awsome expansion to an already good game, and I would give it five-stars until I realized something.

The USA has no detention camps.

Huh?

"pretty darn good", This is a good expansion pack... the Challenge mode is very cool... you pick the personality of your general, then you pick the personality of the general you want to fight against. When then game begins, you can hear the general from the other team laughing at your mistakes, and he's usually right. Very interesting and fun to play. Don't play this game on a night before you have to go to work, because you will probably lose track of time by having such a blast.

But there is a downside...

The user interface is still the same old interface that takes up too much space on the screen. And perhaps most annoying: Any time you get a mission report, you have to wait and wait and wait to see the pop-up descriptions when you are trying to chose which unit(s) you want to build. And speaking of waiting... if you want to restart a mission, you have to sit through the introduction video, and you can't skip past it. Hopefully the next version of C&C will fix these oversights.

"Wonderful indeed but...", Anyone who bought and enjoyed the original CandC: Generals won't go far wrong doing the same again with this expansion. Your money buys you another 15 single player missions all complete with new units, a `challenge' scenario where you can choose a general that suits your style of play and put him up against 8 others as well as the usual skirmish and multiplay modes.

The graphics and sound are excellent, as could be expected from a developer of this pedigree, with the cut scenes giving a truly professional feel to the whole experience. Explosions and animation are superb, I particularly like the way bodies fly through the air as a bunker is blown up, and the screams of anguish as troopers die a painful chemical death never fails to bring a smile (I know, I'm a sick git).

Gameplay is fluid, albeit a little slow in places, while it should also be noted that he who rules the skies, wins (99 times out of 100 anyway). The GLA missions are slightly harder to my mind as there is no air power at all, but more enjoyable due to the downright nastiness of the terrorists. Winning a skirmish against the USA with all the superior weaponry is particularly satisfying and being able to camouflage your units and buildings making them very hard to spot gives an edge that is hard to beat - lets face it, its damn hard to destroy something if you can't see it. Chinese forces are once again numerous and it seems to me that my favourite Overlord is now a tad more vulnerable to rocket toting troops, but the vision of ½ a dozen or so of these beasts lumbering through an enemy base camp, supported by a couple of the most excellent Dragons to clear those troublesome buildings is one I can't get enough of. As always, the USA tend to dominate, and the initial scenario is great for refreshing the memory banks and getting back to grips with all the controls.

The interface is, as usual, totally user friendly and it doesn't take much to get everything quickly set up to your liking. My son was not much impressed by the screen that appears after the loading scenes - unless a key is pressed or the mouse moved, it looks like the program has locked up and he sat there for ages before he realised this (heheheh - kids of today!!)

My only real gripe with this is that, once again, the game doesn't deliver what appears to be promised on the box. I was hoping and praying for the return of the naval units but no such luck - you get a carrier (USA) but can't actually do anything with it apart from launch air missions - most disappointing. Overall though, this certainly ranks as one of the better expansions and does improve the original - if only slightly.

"Extends playlife of Generals to infinity...", ...that may be something of an exgaggeration, but this statement isn't: If you loved Generals and haven't played Zero Hour, you have cause for celebration. At the time of this writing, Zero Hour has been out roughly 1.5 years (games live in "dog years" compared to other media), and as far as Real Time Strategy Games go, I put this at, or very near the top of my list, ahead of most every contemporary RTS.

Why?

To many reasons to list, but basically because Zero Hour completely refreshes Generals. If you played Generals like me (a psycho, social-life-debilitating amount), you pretty much had the game down; you knew build order, offense, counters, etc. Zero Hour completely reshuffles the deck by introducing a whole host of brand new units, as well as the ability to play as a General of a certain skill set that gives him advantages (like air/ground/nuclear, etc).

Can you say "C130 Gunship", "Heavy Chinese attack Heli", "Suicide Motorcylist"...when my buddy sent in a huge plane that dropped a bunch of leaflets on my troops to urge them not to fight, I almost came apart with laughter. Good times.

In addition to the General abilities, new maps, and new units, the games graphics have noticably improved.

I couldn't recommend this higher. For RTS fans that haven't checked Zero Hour out yet, don't hesitate to buy this Expansion Pack, this game's got a lot of life in it yet.

Enjoy,

"Great Game!", Command and Conquer Generals, Zero Hour

This game is the game of the century. In Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour expansion pack you can be three teams, USA, China and the Global Liberation Army (GLA). Play to build your base and your armies from soldiers, vehicles, tanks, and aircraft. If you have enough money than you are able to buy superweapons like the Particle cannon, Nuclear silo and the SCUD storm. You can also be nine generals who have advantages and disadvantages. You can play missions with a goal or just fight the other team. You can also play other players online in the multiplayer games.

What I don't like about the game is that some times it gets very difficult even if it's on easy. What I like about the game is that the challenges are fun to do and the generals with special abilities are cool. I think that the music is very nice for each team. The game has vehicles from real life like the Padalen tank, Raptor air plane and the SCUD launcher. I would suggest this game to many people and I would give this game a 9/10.
