"It's been great for me!", I don't usually write reviews, but after seeing the terrible reviews for this printer I just had to share my opinion. I've had this printer since my sophomore year in college, 2004. It is still working great as ever! I've never had a problem with it, and it has consistently printed fantastic documents and even better photos! No one knows my framed pictures are from my printer and not from a photo lab. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I really only have good things to say about this printer and about Epson!

"Not Epson's Finest Product", We own both the C84 and C86 (they share the same cartridges). They've both died and I don't think I'll let my supply of cartridges influence my next purchase. As others have pointed out, these are fine until they break, which is early.
Epson needs a new Chinese supplier for these $400 plastic printers.

"POS - not Point of Sale.", Owned 2 of these. Garbage. And if you pay the $275 the last buyer I saw had this listed for you must be on Crack. My $.02.

"Absolute piece of junk., junk, JUNK.! DON'T BUY Epson", I paid probably $50 for my Epson C84 printer and used it MAYBE 3 months with light print jobs. I ran out of ink. Replaced the ink. Thank goodness I didn't pay full price because now the heads are clogged (after repeated head cleanings and running through the ink even faster), and I'm still getting blank pages. I'll be doing my homework and checking reviews thoroughy before I buy my next printer. But I'll NEVER buy anything from Epson again. I've read the reviews here and it appears just about everyone has experienced the same problems. I don't know if anyone from Epson reads these reviews, but they need a reality check. Lose customers, lose your business, period. This printer is a pure piece of trash. Congratulations Epson, you've made yourself into an incompetant manufaturer. Never again!

"Riiiiiiiip Off", I work at a college. After spring break 5, count them FIVE Epson stylus printers in five different offices stopped working....frozen ink problem. Die, Epson.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Pile of Junk - AVOID -", Out of the 4 of these that we bought ALL 4 DIED within a year. It seems once that jam 1 time, they always complain of no ink even when you put new ink in. I later read about a class action suit against them specific to this problem. We could have gotten some small $ back, but it wasn't worth it. We threw em away.
Also, please ignore the 1 5 star review below this one. The guy can't even spell ca(r)tridge, and we WERE using only Epson cartridges. Everyone else's 1 star reviews are right-on.

"Print quality is excellent", There are lot of negative ratings for this. Few things to remember about this printer. If you are using non Epson ink, it is going to clog the print head. Catridges will show empty while there is ink to prevent ink from completely drying out in print head. Most of the users how use this printer with compatible ink or thoese who reset the chip to make the printer think there is ink in the cartridge end up destroying a very expensive printer. When you buy a expensive printer like this, you might as well spend the money for proper ink and get the best quality print outs.

"Losing Faith in Epson", I received this printer as part of a package deal when buying my laptop in 2003. I previously owned an epson 740 which I had very little problems with and used to print my entire graphic design portfolio. Up until owning this printer I was a diehard Epson fan. Nevermore quote the graphic designer. I have to agree with all the other reviews on here. It sucks ink like kool-aid, claims cartridges are empty when they still have ink left and the print heads consistently clog. I just spent $78 replacing ink cartridges only to find out that it still won't print a single thing despite having had a dozen or more cleanings. Not sure what Epson's deal is but the quality of their products just keeps getting worse and worse!

"ink hog", This printer uses far too much ink, won't print when any cartridges are empty, and as others have noted, will indicate that cartrdiges are empty when they still have ink in them. A total ripoff.

"Should be Negative 5 Stars...", I only write reviews if something is very bad. This printer COMPLETELY SUCKS! Do not buy it and avoid Epson all together. In fact avoid all Ink Jet printers. Get your photos printed at Walgreens or Target and but a $75 laser printer, you will thank me.

THis is just not Epson. It is EVERY ink jet manufacturer. There is some kind of bizarre monopoly using patents, copyright infringement etc... to continue this anti competitive situation. Look into HP profit sheet and you will see the bulk of the company profits come from the printer division. THis supposedly great company gets most of its profits from gouging the consumer. Some company. I bought new cartridgesfor this Epson C84 yesterday and they were seventy eight dollars retail!!!! WTF! Then I found out it was a clog.

I saw some citations that a Gallon of this ink (think a gallon of milk or gasoline for comparison) would cost over $1000 and it would cost a 6 BILLION dollars to fill upa swimming pool with ink.

Completely and utterly insane and I am done with it. At least as sooon as I go "Office Space" on this printer. Watch the movie and you will se what I am talking about.

As for all ink jet manufacturers, I give you all a big FU and hope all your companys die the miserable death that they deserve...So much for American innovation!
