"Works great 75% of the time"
I've had this keyboard/mouse for almost a year. For the first 6 months I really didn't have any problems, but lately I seem to be getting more and more interference. I've tried moving the receiver around, but this is just a temporary fix.

Although it works fine most of the time, it is incredibly aggravating when the mouse starts moving erratically or the keyboard isn't recognizing all of your keystrokes.

"Great product for frequent typing"
Installation and setup was easy. Provides perfect finger and wrist alignment. Highly recommended. Great price for the features. Nice mouse features. Mag button on left is better than versions with mag on right.

"Couldn't make it work"
Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro

Mouse was very comfortable and worked well. The ergonomic keboard was very comfortable with good action, fairly quiet, but didn't work well. Various keys, especially when used as a combo with upper case or Ctrl, would work sporadically. If I wasn't watching the screen, I'd type a word only to find that three or four of the characters didn't register. If I pressed one of the missing-character keys again and again (and again) it might work or it might not. Very frustrating. I returned it.
The "quick start" folding card that came with the set referred to a user's manual, but there was none included.

"POS"
I believe that a keyboard should work 100% of the time (I am understanding of battery replacement/lifetime) when used under reasonable conditions, but I am very disappointed in this system.

I have some metal in my desk which seems to keep the mouse and keyboard from transmitting properly. I went through the process to determine the problem, but the only solution seems to be to keep the mouse within 6 inches of the receiver. I like the keyboard shape and feel, so I will be purchasing a non-wireless design. Knowing a little about transmitter/receiver design, this can be summed up as Microsoft cutting corners to save money by using a non-robust design. I have a 8 year old Logitech wireless system at home that still works flawlessly in all conditions. I figured that 8 years later a new system (Even from Microsoft) would be worry-free. Silly me. One more reason to dislike Microsoft.

"Performs flawlessly - no interefence with another wireess kb"
Ordered this for my girlfriends computer, she likes the ergonomic shape, and her old wired keyboard was same, so was already used to how it felt compared to a standard keybaord.

Received it and installed batteries (included) and drivers as instructed by the booklet. Had it hooked up and working in less than 10 minutes. Have had it for over a month now, and have not had one complaint or problem with it. I have another similar microsoft keyboard and mouse combo, and the 2 do not interfere with each other, even though they are less than 10 feet apart. The other is a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard and Wireless Explorer Intellimouse 2.0 I never had any problems with that one either.

What our customer's say!

"Really good quality for your money...", I guess anybody who ever had to use a laptop keyboard for an extended period knows how much it hurts the fingers, hands and wrists. I am a translator who uses a keyboard at least 8 hours a day with little rest and this wireless set makes my work much easier and comfortable.

I agree with almost everything told in the previous positive reviews: Both the keyboard and the mouse are very comfortable and well-designed, their sizes would not bother anybody with ordinary hand proportions, actually, my hands are quite small for a male adult and even I have no problems in using them. If you take the keyboard out of its box in a well-lit place, you might think that it is dirty because the keys are have a transparent cover, but in time you get used to it. In fact, I think this makes the keyboard look really professional.

In one of the earlier reviews someone mentioned that the mouse gets heavy when the batteries are placed in their sockets but I don't agree with this. When I compared the mouse with its peers with similar properties, I felt it to be much lighter.

It has been almost a month since I bought this set and they gave me no problems at all, and the batteries are still in their highest level. If you want that extra-long life from your batteries, you can take them out when you won't use your computer for a long time; taking the batteries out of the keyboard is really easy but I can't say this is the case for the mouse. It's not much of a hassle, though.

This wireless set saved me from paying for professional medical care because I had been suffering from intense pain in all of my finger joints and wrists when I bought it. Now, spending hours translating is not a matter of pain but pleasure and satisfaction from work because once I got used to this split keyboard, my typing actually gained speed.

All in all, I would strongly recommend this keyboard and mouse to anybody who is looking for a wireless set with a good price/quality ratio. Unlike their Windows OS, Microsoft knows what they are doing when it comes to keyboards and mice.

"Wireless Mouse and Keyboard", This looks great, and mouse is awesome, but so far, I have been unable to get the keyboard to snyc with the receiver, so I can't use it. I'll keep trying, and if I don't have any luck, I will call Microsoft Support for some help. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

"Easy to Install and Use", I had no problems installing it and it started working immediately. I wish the wrist guard was padded like the comfort keyboard they have, but it works just fine.

"Works fine, but . . .", The products work fine, but the keyboard has oddly roughed up key surfaces with somewhat transparent plastic making the entire unit look and feel dirty right out of the box. It took some getting used to and I still wish it weren't made that way. I also wonder why the keys in the front row are so large. It's not a problem, but just odd. Nicely shaped ergonomically and a good value with above caveats.

"Lovin' It", This was purchased to replace an older wireless keyboard and mouse of the same type and same brand. The only down side is the button that magnifies part of the screen. Needless to say... I disabled that button. After disabling that button... I am a happy camper.

"Love it, yet not flawless", When I first opened it up, I was thrilled. The picture did it injustice. It was *exactly* what I wanted. A full-blown split keyboard with a curve (It looked flat on picture). I don't know about you guys, but once you convert to the split-keyboard, you'll never go back. My typing skills has improved, and the feedback of each keys is much better than any other keyboards I have used. My accuracy has increased enough for me not to "look" for obscure keys such as { } when I need to type it. On other keyboards, I have to look for it. It is much better than the first natural keyboard! The mouse is quite lovely, yet it is exclusively right-hand oriented. It is not really comfortable if I use it with my left-hand (I am left-handed). As for wireless connections, first few times, it seemed it took them a while to "wake up", but lately, the mouse has been working very well. The keyboard doesn't always connect, possibly from some type of interference. Certain places work better than others (I had to move the sensor around to find sweet spot, and it seems to work best if the sensor (one that connects to computer) is actually across or below the keyboard. The distance doesn't seem to matter. The neat thing about that mouse is it has both vertical and horizontal scrolling ability, a back button, and (to me, odd) magnifying button, along with usual other two buttons. But due to some connectivity and communication issues that occasionally appear between keyboard/mouse and the computer, espeically when the computer boots up, I give it 4 instead of 5 stars because I will not throw away my old keyboard/mouse that is connected to the computer directly via wires. I use them on occasion when there's glitch with this item. On side note, it may also be different with Window Vista or Mac (I use Windows XP).

"Great Keyboard / Mouse", Works great. I particularly like the big delete key. Don't spill water on it though. It stopped working

"Has annoying flaws", This product works fairly well, but it has some minor annoying flaws. One of which is a pop-up saying the wireless mouse batteries are low and need to be replaced. In fact, they have never (so far) been drained. The batteries are fine.

Having said that, I wouild grade this wireless optical keyboard/mouse combo to be well worth the cost. I would recommend it...and forewarn about this, and other, minor annoyances.

"overrated", This keyboard and mouse are overrated. It looks nice, but after about 8-9 months, the receiver seems to lose strength. I have to put the receiver right next to my keyboard to get it to work, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a "wireless" keyboard since that receiver has a wire into the computer. It's "wireless" in name only.

And the "feel" of the keyboard and mouth are awkward. There is no "click" in the scroll wheel of the mouse, it is just smooth. And the keys on the keyboard feel like they float rather than a solid nice "click".

I regret buying this keyboard. Next time, I'll buy a wired keyboard and wireless mouse. Having a "wireless" keyboard doesn't help if you to put the receiver and it wire right next to the keyboard. Buy logitech or kensington instead.

"Not a heavy user", I am not a heavy user and chose the wireless keyboard and mouse to get rid of the cables. The split keyboard has taken a little getting used to, but now very comfortable. I could see a where a heavy user would get up to speed quickly. I put my old keyboard away and won't be using it anymore.
