"Best Gaming Magazine Period" I've subscribed and what not to Gaminformer,EGM,Tips N Tricks, Gamepro, Xbox Magazine, and PSM for years. I also go to each videogame site daily. I've defintly found that Gameinformer is hte best, most detailed, and most comprehensive. It has every game, every console, and everything noteworthy. It is the best video game magazine period! Big screenshots! Honest reviews! Just the best!
"Great Magazine" Great unbiased Gamer magazine, I prefer PLAY Magazine over GI. I still think its a great read every month.
"Great Info and Reviews" When i started to think seriously on purcahsing a new next gen console, i needed some real unbiassed info, then i got this magazine on a local store and really enjoyed it! i bought 2 extra issues and all i got was great reviews, updated news, great pics, nice great adds and best of all it covers all consoles on the market now. It takes a while to receive the first issue (still waiting for it) buy i know i wont regret it... Iniside you will find editorials, previews with plenty of pics, a feature review and many smaller reviews.... so dont think about it too long just go ahead and add it to your shopping cart!! for this price its worth it! i paid 5-7usd/issue on my local store (outside US)
After reading the info i decided to go with a PS3 and cant regret i did! its sweet! so after that being said, I wish it include : -
A BD with demos and/or video previews B Some large Game Posters....
Overall its a great pick!!!!
"Outstanding!!!" I just wrote a review for OPM, and had forgotten about this magazine. I also used to subscribe, and had recently let my subscription run out. I will not say it is not because I do not like this magazine, but because I am trying to save some money. But the fact is, that this is probably the best multiplatform gaming magazine on the market.
The reviews are smart and fresh, never hackneyed, or cliched, the way a lot of other magazines are (and some of my reviews, sorry guys!). But the introductory article in each and every magazine, by the Chief editor, always sounds like it has been written by a Harvard Grad, with a Layman's ability to make everything easy to understand. He has a way of making every article within the magazine all come together. Never biased, they are not afraid of telling it like it is in their reviews.
I would highly recommend subscribing to this magazine, and like somebody else mentioned, better to go directly to the store, and get the discount card. After $150 - $200 in used game purchases, it pays for itself.
Highly recommend!

EDIT: Believe it or not, when I got home, yesterday, just after writing this review, I had a copy of the September issue in my mailbox. I had forgotten, I had called Customer Service about a missed issue. They were nice enough to extend me a two issue subscription free of charge, to cover my missed issue. I was quite impressed, and tickled pink, when I got my newest copy in the mail, when I arrived at my posh homestead.
Thank you Game Informer for continued excellent service and a wonderful magazine.
"The gaming mag that pays for itself." I have been subscribing to this mag for a couple years, and think it's one of the best gaming mags available. I have several different consoles, and appreciate that they review games for all platforms. I like the rating system (1-10) instead of the too-hard-to-pin-down 1-5, and find the reviews well written and objective. While I have been gaming for years, I am not necessarily versed in computer lingo, but I never feel like an idiot after reading this mag; the writing is erudite but very easy to understand. I read several different gaming magazines each month, and feel this magazine strikes exactly the right balance between the more serious and more frivolous gaming magazines in the industry.
One suggestion: if you have a GameStop or affiliated store in your neighborhood, get your subscription through them. For about $15 you receive a 12-year subscription, and a card that gives you 10% off used games at these stores, as well as an extra 10% trade-in value on your used games (sometimes there will be a coupon in that month's mag to upgrade to 20% for both!).

What our customer's say!
"A once a month treat", Having been a gamer for many, many, years, I can say that Game Informer is the best magazine out there now, and probably the most comprehensive and well made gamer mag ever.
Simply put, this magazine does a lot of things well...
1) The reviews are honest and thorough. I would say that I agree with them about 90% of the time. Many games will have two reviews so you can get different opinion. 2) Great layout. There are reviews, previews, editorials, reader letters, game news, event coverage, etc.. Overall, there is a lot in every issue. 3) Good construction. Nice size and great color on the pages. I remember old school GamePro where it was like a cheap comic. This is not the case.
"Great Mag", Really great magazine that covers gaming on all of the systems that are out right now. They usually have previews and sneak peaks into games way before I've heard anything about them in any other source.
"A good gaming magazine, but it would be the best if weren't so biased...", Let me start by saying that Game Informer is a good magazine. It offers reliable, up to date, and helpful information on all the latest & upcoming video games. However, Game Informer is far from being perfect... A perfect gaming magazine would offer helpful unbiased information on games of all consoles, developers, and platforms. Game Informer does offer unbiased information, on anything that isn't made by Nintendo, that is... I own all of the current gaming consoles. Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP. And I like them all! Xbox 360 is my favorite, Wii comes 2nd, and PS3 comes 3rd, but that's my own personal opinion. My problem with game informer is that they don't look at the systems the way I do, as seperate systems, with different strengths and weaknesses, but still equally fun. I don't know what it is, but they hardly ever have a nice thing to say about Nintendo when mentioned alongside Sony & Microsoft. GI tends to write alot of niche reviews on Nintendo products, complete with insults to their designs, downplay of any of their systems positve aspects, and over exaggeration of their game's faults. The only times, infact, were GI gives a Nintendo-made product a worthy review, is when the product is so widely and undeniably acknowledged as good that GI has no choice but to give the product it's proper rating out of fear of losing all credibiliy.
It's the smaller, less hyped games for Wii & DS that Game Informer attacks. I can't tell you how many times I bought a game for my Wii or DS before GI reviewed it, greatly enjoyed the game, and find a niche review written on it in GI the very next month! They have given bad reviews on No more Heroes, Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon, and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, all of which I own, and think are great! And I'm not the only one either... Check out some of the customer reviews on the games I listed above here on Amazon, then go to GI's website and look up the same games and you'll see a very different picture being painted. The reviews here on Amazon on the games I listed above are prodominantly positive, but the ones written by GI mark them all as a 6 out of 10, when they all at least deserve a 7.
However, I just renewed my subscription to GI yesterday when I went to GameStop. And why is that, you ask? Because despite the fact that GI is undoubtably biased against Nintendo products, it's reviews on all products that are not made by Nintendo or aren't available on a Nintendo console are spot-on, unbiased reviews that are usually 100% accurate. Also, when you make a subscription at GameStop, you get a discount card for 10% everything in the store.
The Verdict: GI is great for owners of PS3, Xbox 360, or PSP. Plus a subscription made at GameStop gets you a 10% off discount card. However, if you exclusively own Nintendo products, then get another magazine like GamePro or EGM, because GI's biased reviews on all Nintendo products will stop you from buying any new games or software for your Wii or DS.
If it weren't for the inaccurate, biased, niche reviews that it's publishers write on all Nintedo products, then Game Informer would be the best gaming magazine out there, but because the strange seemingly hateful ways it portrays most Nintendo products, GI becomes just another gaming magazine...
"Waste of Paper", This magazine is what people like to call garbage.
As we all know, Game Informer is owned by Game Stop- which in turn only drives the people who make the magazine to reach and maintain a corporate agenda. The reviews, as terrible and short as they are, are incredibly biased, and the magazine basically gives off the feeling of a giant advertisement.
The reviewers are also, among other things, incredibly hypocritical- for example, they recently gave the Wii game No More Heroes a low 6, largely because they felt the violence in the game was meant to "shock" and "offend". How strange, then, that the same magazine names Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a game littered with more bloodshed, gore, sex, and drugs than No More Heroes, one of the best games of all time?
The magazine is a puzzling mess of hypocrisy and incompetence. The writers and editors seem only to cater to what the corporate aspect of gaming wants to hear, with little regard to the actual value of the software or providing the reader with legitimate information.
As one member on the GameFAQs forum puts it: "If Gameinformer says it's bad, buy buy buy, play play play." That's about how unreliable and wasteful this "magazine" is.
"The absolute best gaming magazine I've EVER laid my hands on!! 5.5/5 stars.", This thing is WONDEROUS. I can't say that enough!!
Very informative, and the advertisements aren't apparent on every other page like *cough coughGameProcough cough*
The reviews are enjoyable, and I really like the short reviews towards the end. Two people review it, and it gets straight to the point.
Seriously, I have never come across a better mag!
5.5 stars.

"One of the Better Gaming Mags", Since first getting this mag from Gamestop as one of those free add on things you get when you buy games there I have come to really like it. Unlike other magazines who only seem to care about backing one system or another Game Informer talks about everything that is going on in the gaming world, even addressing the serious issues of children and M rated games.
"son loves it", my son had been wanting a suscription to a gamers mag and going off of the reviews i ordered this one and he thinks its great. he is 13 if you are interested.
"Rock on, GameInformer", In the world of gaming, there are specialized magazines for each system (PlayStation Magazine, Xbox Mag, etc.), most of which suck because they only report on (duh) games on their respective systems. Others, like Electronic Gaming Monthly, encompass most systems but only do it half-assed, not really giving you anything to make you think highly of it. Then, there's GameInformer. There are many things that set GameInformer apart from many other "gaming" magazines:
1) They have completely unbiased opinions about the games they play. If the game sucks, they say so; if it's an awesome game, they'll tell you about it.
2) Matt Helgeson (Senior Gaming Editor) and the other editors actually inform you about the game's most necessary attributes: its ESRB rating (E to M), their rating for the game (from 1 to 10), and a brief introduction to the game's faults and successes. Best of all, however, they include screenshots from the game- and most screenshots rock.
These are just some of the reasons that GameInformer magazine is the absolute best gaming magazine on the market. I have a subscription to this magazine and this magazine only, and I hope my review has explained why.
"Game Informer is great.", I got a Game Informer Magazine subscription from Game Stop about 2 years ago. I love this magazine and I have been getting it ever since.
In this magazine they have reviews of games rating from E to M. Each review has atleast one screen shot with it. If you like to find gameing acessories and gaming novelty toysa they have that in this magazine too. And at the begining of each new year there is a Year-in-Review of all the games of that year.
I love this Magazine and you will too.
"A Great Magazine", Overall, this is the best gaming magazine I have read. It covers all consoles, gives sensible (and funny) reviews, and previews the hottest upcomming games.
Most games are reviewed by two people, adding to the accuracy of the score. It has a rating of 1-10, 10 being the best, a rating which precious few games recieve.
The previews section gives you a sneek peek of upcomming games. Some of them are one page long, some ten. They all include pictures, and most have an estimated release date.
Also, there is a section on news in the game industry. Ususlly near the beginning of the magazine, they include news on developers, consoles, and the big names in the industry.
All in all, this is a great magazine, and well worth your money, because each issue is well over 100 pages.
