"Great product!"
I've had this product for well over a year now and was using it with my XP machine and am now using it with my Apple Mac Mini. Works great with both Windows and Mac OS X, with no hassles. The removable stand is a nice touch, as you can pack the reader into a laptop bag or lay it horizontally if you prefer. Highly recommended.

"Over 2 Years, Still Going Strong"
I bought this card reader in Feb. 2004 to use with SD cards. Since then I have moved over to CF cards (Sandisk Ultra II's both 1 and 4 gig) and it has worked great every time.

"Does what it needs to do..."
I have only used this a couple of times but it has worked well and is fater than downloading pictures from the camera.

"Good except the compact flash card gets stuck"
I use this in conjunction with the SanDisk Ultra II 2.0 GB compact flash card.

I like it, but the flash card doesn't slide in easily. Sometimes it get stuck halfway, as if the unit has not been designed properly and the sliders for the card offer enough give to slide the card to the left or right of the pins.

To add insult to injury, both the reader and flash card are manufactured by SanDisk. Therefore, they SHOULD work seamlessly together, but pathetically, they don't.

I'd much rather pay more for a reader that worked great, rather than save a few dollars for a reader that makes you work every time you use the thing.

For comparison, my camera accepts the card perfectly. There is no give at all, but instead is an effortless process.

Not a quality reader.

Other than that, it works as expected. Surprisingly, the reader doesn't topple over as easily as I thought it would. It stands vertically and looks like it might fall over when trying to slide the card in. Sliding the card in a 2 handed process, so one hand holds the unit while the other slides it in.

Removing the card is extremely easy. That's a one-handed process. "Eject" the card from the PC's drive and then remove it.

Data transfer from the card to PC is very quick.

Overall, I'm glad to have it, but it's an annoyance to use it. I hate the card getting stuck halfway in the reader.

"Great card reader for the price"
This is a great card reader for the price. Why pay more if this one reads the all cards that you have? Personally, I only use CompactFlash and SD cards. It reads these cards and it does it fast and reliably.

The shape of this card reader is a bit awkward but then again it does help you grab the unit while inserting and removing cards, which you'll want to do a bit carefully. It would be a bit more difficult to do that with the unit lying flat on the desk. Remember to never force the card in and remember the label side faces towards the Sandisk logo on the card reader. It is slightly tricky to get the cards into the slots at first, but once you get the feel of it, it beccomes quite easy and routine.

This Sandisk has LED indicators that are helpful. One Amber LED to tell you the unit is connected to your USB, and other green ones by each card slot to let you know either that you have a card insert (solid green), or that it's reading or writing (blinking green).

This card reader comes with a 1 year warranty and I feel it represents a good value. I would recommend it.

What our customer's say!

"Has it all", This is the only product that you will need if you use digital storage. The format is not a problem because it has all. The speed is much faster than attaching my digital camera.

"OK but not for xD Type H Cards", Since this is a long discontinued product, I'm posting for the record only as I didn't see reference to this issue. I've used this reader for years with no complaints under XP SP1 and 2. However, it does not support Type H (high speed) xD picture cards. At least mine doesn't, and I was unable to find any trace of a fix. Everything else I've thrown at it, SmartMedia, SD and xD, worked fine.

"SanDisk Card Reader", This card reader served me very well each time I needed it. Now I have a card reader built into my PC so I don't use it currently but it was a reliable piece of equipment each time I called upon it.

"So good, buying another one!", I owned the 6-in-1 version of this product. I got it almost 4 YEARS AGO (back when 2Mp digital cameras were the high standard). I've been using it ever since, until it was stolen last week.

I've used it to copy photos to my laptop on trips (even got some friends out of trouble when their cameras were full). I had no problem with CF, SD, MMC and MS.

Another nice feature is the dual plug, i.e. a dock with long USB cord to set the unit on your desk (shown in photo), and a 4inch USB cord that fits nicely into my camera bad, alongside the compact reader.

It's a no-brainer: I'm definitely going to buy this again.

"8-in1 SanDisk Card Reader Disappoints After 1 Year's Use", This is one product I do NOT recommend to Mac owners, or PC owners for that matter, as it failed after only 1-year's light use, right after the OEM 1-year warranty had expired. I called SanDisk about it, and they simply said "you're SOL on this, since there's no warranty after 1-year." It failed during the 9th month, but I just kept putting off calling SanDisk about it and waited too long. What happened? The "docking system" failed, that's what, ie the card reader fits into a "dock" with a Mini-USB connector for the card reader, and after 9 months use that connection failed. Why? I don't know why. Either the USB connector has a short in it, is defective, or the port on the card reader has a problem. Either way, the reader wouldn't stay connected to the power supply, rendering it useless. So I think that the design of this unit is poorly thought out for long-term use, especially if you're using the device with multiple computer systems as I was, constantly docking and removing the reader from the power system. I ended up buying the Belkin 15-N-1 card reader as a replacement, and highly recommend it over this SanDisk card reader...see my review on it and you can read why it's a better card reader system. In any case, I give this unit a 1, and in fact it deserves a 0, but Amazon doesn't allow you to give anything a ZERO rating. I hate throwing things away, but that's what I did with the SanDisk reader because it was simply useless after the docking issue became permanent, rendering the product unusable.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Worked as expected -- pleased with purchase.", The Reader worked as advertised. I'm very pleased with the purchase...

"memory card reader", This memory card reader worked like a charm for me. We've used both SD and Sony memory sticks in it with absolutely no problems.

"New and better SanDisk multi-card reader available", SanDisk has a new and better multi-card reader available. I highly suggest that you look at this model:

Sandisk ImageMate 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Hi-speed Reader
(SDDR-89-A15).

"This junk died and erased 100 images", The is perhaps the lease durable item I have purchased in 40 years. It lights up just fine, and it is a reassuring led gold, but it refuses to do anything with my xd card. It worked just fine for 3-4 days, then erased about 100 photos, all of them irreplaceable. Cheap yes, but Cheap Junk.

"near perfection at a great price!", The Sandisk reader is impossible to misuse. It loads quickly and it's compact shape offers most options for memory. It can be mounted vertically with attached stand for sleek ease of use or compacted flat to be discreet. I would prefer a little more weight so that it doesn't move around on my desk so I'm giving it only 4 stars. If I had to replace this reader, I would buy another SanDisk!
