"Not ready for the PC"
This was promoted for the consoles, where, I understand, it's supposed to be excellent. I haven't played it on a console. I play games on my computer and always have. I played the first two POP games there, as well as the original versions before them.
This game is simply not ready for the PC. It is all but unplayable. Aside from a really anoying savegame system, the ridiculous controls make playing the game all but undoable. You are bombarded with foes from all angles, these are battles which, due to the PC game's inability to let you do anything other than slash blindly away, you cannot win. Enemies come out of nowhere, they reconsitute, more and more of them appear and you're stuck waving your arms.
It ain't fun.
There's no patch to correct any of this either, you have to play the game AS IS.
At times when you have pay keen attention or get murdered, you cannot get the prince to go or do what you want, as when camera angles change suddenly, so do the keys you need to be pressing to move him around.
It is extremely aggravating and annoying.
When you die, no matter how close you are to a save point or how far you've already come with all of these ridiculous glitches, you're bounced to the beginning of the level again.
The game looks great, I stayed with it for a long time, trying to get something enjoayable out of it, but it was a complete waste of time.
Finally, in frustration, I just downloaded a batch of saved games and cycled through them, looking for snippets to play. If you've got a computer, I would avoid this at all costs.

"Excellent Game..."
The most recent incarnation of the Prince of Persia series is kicked off with our introduction to an enjoyable gameplay mechanic. The ability to reverse time. Sands of Time and its sequels integrate this concept into puzzles and battles fluidly and 'believably' ultimately making for an excellent gameplay experience.

The storyline is one that I personally enjoyed, but I can see where some may be deterred by it. The Prince is a bit whiny and self-righteous at times, but that's part of what I enjoyed about him. If you've never tried these games, start here and work your way through its sequels. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

"Fairly unique"
This is an interesting game with great environments and atmosphere. It has the feel of a 3-D platformer so having a decent game controller pad greatly enhances the enjoyment of the game.

"Do you have what it takes to master the sands of time?"
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, is a very fun game. My only gripe is that once you finish it you just don't get as much fun out of it. But besides that this is a very fun game. You start off as the prince [his name is never revealed] who is part of an army attacking a city in India. The Persians are victorious and they return home. But before they leave the prince finds a mysterious dagger, which has the power to turn back time. Afterwards the treacherous vizier of the Indians tricks the prince into opening the hourglass, which holds the sands of time, which turn any living thing that comes into contact with it into a "sand zombie" which is a monstrous undead creature made of sand [I'm not kidding about that last part] whose only instinct is to hunt down and kill anything living thing. Then you battle a group of sand zombies, after you defeat them you embark on an adventure to bottle up the sands of time. You start off on your own, but you soon team up with Farah, the princess of that city in India you conquered. She will automatically assist you should you require her assistance, some of these occasions include where she has to slip through a crack to open a certain door for you. She can also use her bow to aid you in battle. Just make sure you're not in her way when she fires. Speaking of combat, here's a few tips.

When you're fighting a single enemy, just keep attacking, that should take care of them. But watch out for their counter attacks! Those really pack a wallop.

When you're fighting multiple enemies, try hitting one of them a few times, then move on to the next, and the next, etc. And if you get crowded, try vaulting over one of them. Enemies too advanced for that trick? No problem, just back up against a wall, pillar, or even a chair or a table will do, and press spacebar twice while backing up against the object to do a more advanced vault attack on the enemy. This move will work on anyone!

And then there's the Prince's acrobatic skills. Nobody's better then the Prince in gymnastics! I mean, he can run across walls!

As you progress through the game, you will find that much of the game depends on the Prince's acrobatic abilities. You will constantly find yourself in situations where you must run across a ledge that collapses under you, run along the wall to do it again, and so on. Or you may have to ricochet up to walls to reach the top.

Also, when you're fighting enemies, remember that simply knocking them down won't work, you have to stab them in the back to finish them.

And then there's that unusual but delightful twist. The dagger allows you to turn back time, so let's say you got impaled on a spike, you can turn back time to make sure that never happened!

Just remember, in this game, reflexes and speed rule the day. So there is only one rule, master the sands, or be buried.

"Absolutely Awesome...but..."
I got this game recently and I must say that it rocks! The graphics and gameplay are cool. You'll be flying off walls, climbing on ledges, and everything else. There is one drawback which is the reason why I reated this at 3 and not 5. You are only able to use your keyboard to play this game, making it absolutely hard to perform combinations and special attacks. If you think programing a gamepad to perform as a keyboard, good luck. Tried that several ways and got nowhere. The game ignores all inputs but the keyboard and mouse. Besides that, the game has an awesome storyline. Would recomend but not for PC.

What our customer's say!

"Yes, it wakes up some nice memories", I got this one just because I didn't know what to play and it got good reviews and grades. It deserves all the good reviews it got!

Description:

This is a game that combines 3d platform, 3d fighting and logical puzzle 3d gaming. You have probably seen all tricks that prince does in other games for PS2, PC or XBoX but this game's 2D prequels ( we played them some 15 years ago , no? ) were legends at the time they were published, so I decided to see what's old and what's new. Basically, you got everything you had in old PoP , just in 3d and some more.

Gameplay is simple to describe: you solve puzzles, jump and run and avoid traps and then there are some battles in case you got bored. Battles are something I dislike: you have to be fast, know how to defeat which enemy class and sometimes have to do moves which are difficult with keyboard and mouse. You will often be cornered by , like, 4 monsters and there is not much hope there.

GOOD: Nice translation of 2D arcade adventure into 3D world, nice graphics, nice puzzles. At each save point, you get hint for next level, in form of FMV (they call it vision) and this is good for new players. REAL LOW VIOLENCE LEVEL.

BAD: Camera is really not that good, not even mediocre. Battles take too much time and are frustrating and luck dependent. Or I should get me Devil May Cry and practice reflexes? For some people, low violence level could be listed here instead in GOOD.

GENERAL NO SPOILER ADVICE: play game between two or three save points daily , otherwise you can forget what happens. Use replay vision. Block a lot in the fight, use dagger ('E' key). Use 'Q' to see complete building you are in if you have doubts about where to go.

IMPRESSIONS AFTER BEATING THE GAME:
Game is cool and it is good if you don't read solutions to puzzles, it would be ridiculously short.

ADVICE ABOUT BATTLES:
Point is to see if enemy falls when you do off the wall torpedo attack (towards wall+jump+attack button right after ) OR when you do jump over enemy attack (toward enemy+jump+attack twice). Try to find water near place where you fight and you really can replenish stamina. And yes, fight w princess in closed circle near the end is more difficult than boss fight.

Get it, and then 'Beyond Good and Evil' , there are not too many action games for PC. PRINCE IS GAME FOR ALL AGES, there is almost no blood and you fight sand creatures.

MINOR SPOILER:
The only serious flaw would be 4 mirrors puzzle, you will know it when you see it. Point is NOT to light up all lanterns, it is to conduct ray to symbol near sword under barrier.

"It is OK I guess", It is challenging in parts, but just a bit too mechanical, and I want more story. Other games were move riveting and make you feel you have to play until the end, you always want to see what happens next. This Game however turns out to be more of a chore, first navigate this room, then the next room, then the next zzzzz.. On the plus side.. the graphics look good..

"The prince is king!", The prince agility and ability is dazzling and often aww-inspiring. He can run along the sides of walls, run up walls, leap, fling, swing, and perform other equally acrobatic feats with amazingly realistic human grace.

All those princely moves do is serve as a means to get you from point A to point , and figuring the right combination of moves to do so is the core of the gameplay. Playing thgough the gymnastically inclined royal palace is as much an intellectual exercice as much as a physical one, bu mostly it's just a ton of fun.

The controls, however, clearly show their console roots. The WASD/mouse system is used here and I was also able to use my gamepad.

The only weak point is the at-times overbearing combat. The prince is as adept a swordman as he is an acrobat, and watching him flip over enemies the slashing them from behind is riveting, but sometimes there's just too much combat. Enemies inundate the poor prince at times, and since they can only be killed when you've sucked the sand out of them while stunned, combat sequences can be incredibly difficult to overcome.

Finally there's the time-controlling dagger. Send the game into slow motion for bullet-time sword battles, but more importantly, if you miss a jump, you can rewind to just before the prince's untimely demise and try it again.

For anyone who likes third-person action and adventure, The Sands of Time is a must-have.

"Short game", (This refers to the PC version of the game.)

This game is actually pretty short if you sit down and play it seriously. It's fun to watch-- he has some great moves, and he does a very slow strip tease throughout the game. No, really.

I had a lot of trouble coordinating camera movement with character movement. Direction of motion is relative to the camera, and sometimes the game takes over camera control. It can make it hard to run in a straight line (which is often necessary to avoid traps or trigger doors). And if the camera isn't at right angles with the Prince, it's easy to accidentally have him leap off into emptiness. Fortunately we have the rewind power to deal with that!

I'm looking forward to the other Prince of Persia games, but I hope they're a little longer than this one.

"Still sweet after 4 years", I had this game for the Gamecube but never got the rest of the series. Now that I can't play the GC version I just decided to pick up the entire series from square one for the PC. (I figured it would just look that much better, and it seems to if memory serves me.)

The game is simply awesome all around. I won't get into to much detail but, if you like action/adventure this is a must buy.

Now, as far as the keyboard and mouse controls go, I don't think they are as bad as some claim. I admit I can see where it can be frustrating. You just don't have the same reaction/precision as playing it with an analog pad. Fighting multiple enemies while camera is rotating isn't exactly intuitive on the keyboard. Also jumping at angles can be a problem.

That said, I would play this with an analog pad, and do. :D

For the record I use my Xbox 360 pad with the game. It's functional "out the box" but I re calibrated the pad just to have things perfect.
Again the pad works just fine without doing anything to it, but to play Prince with it you might want to re calibrate it.

Hope this helps. Happy gaming.

"Bargain bin fodder", To summarize.....
If you want to play a game where it is close to impossible to control the protagonist, solve puzzles that doesnt make any sense at all to the overall story, climb walls while jumping from a ledge to pole over a crate while doing backflips - this just might be a game for you.

Add no savegame option (there are savepoints, but these are very, very far between), gameplay so linear it makes Pac Man and Space Invaders seem open-ended, and a pretty lame story - Voila, you have got Prince of Persia, The Sands if Time in a nutshell.

Some graphics were ok though,,,,,

Bargain bin fodder? Na, trashcan rather

"Awsome Game", This game has an awsome plot that is full of surprises. It won't be able to guess what is coming (unless you already found out from some where else). This game has good graphics, and good gameplay. It's combat design is excelent, and the level designs are really good. The controls (like any game) take some time to get used to, but if you are a compitent learner, by mid-game (at the latest) the controls will feel as natural as walking. I especially like the game concept. I'm going to go now, so I can buy the next one (Prince of Persia: Warrior Within) and pre-order Prince of Persia 3.

PS- You will love the ending.

"best prince of persia edition uptil now", yup sands of time is awesome.i dunno what to say.the storyline, the gameplay is all awesome.

"Good game!", In general I liked it very much. The story is relatively good, but I think it could be better. The graphics are great, I really liked them; but the controls are complicated. The Prince is very agile and there are plenty of movements and actions he can perform. The camera, however, is sometimes complicated to handle and that will make you suffer a couple of times. I have four-button wireless mouse and I transfered much of the functions to them, but I had to switch a couple buttons depending on the situation every time. When I was fighting an enemy I switched a few functions in order to make them easier to handle. The only thing I resent is that I felt the game was a bit short. I passed it in 16 game hours. That's about a week of being playing two and a half hours dayly.

"Haunting Music", This game was a kick! I suck at "twitchy" games, but I completed this game before hubby did. Fighting is fluid and intuitive. Jumping puzzles are just difficult enough without being frustrating.

The only reason I gave it an overall rating of less than five is there is a battle near the middle that will make your fingers fall off from repeating it 20-30 times. I also found a bug (!!!) on this Xbox title, which is inexcusable. Fortunately it only affects you if you save in a specific room at a specific time, causing the princess to not come do her part at the beginning of the section. I went back to a previous save and it worked well after that.

The graphics are beautiful, animations fluid and realistic, and the music is a haunting palette of sound. If not for the two minor glitches/annoyances above, I'd give it the highest rating.
