"MP4 encode"
MP4 reencoded with Nero seem not playing on DVD w/ Mpeg4 decoding. I have Philips DP642 supposed to play MP4 I try reencode movie w/ Nero 6.3 it's faster than other softwares (AutoAGK)but not playing on my DVD. Everything working fine.

"Disappointed "
I had Nero OEM that came with the computer. I liked this version and bought Nero 6 Ultra Edition. I have had nothing but problems with the software. Tech Support is in Germany and replys with standard cookie cutter answers. I have had the software for almost a month and have been unable to make one DVD to my expectations. If I could I would look elsewhere for different software.

"Wait until at least June before you buy!"
I recieved this product with a Sony DVD RW DRU-710a burner for Christmas. I have all the updates installed on my computer for Windows and for Nero, and I also use Windows XP. So far I've had tremendous problems with this software. It often won't eject CDs after it burns them (they keep spinning), which means you have to shut down your computer by cutting off the power. I really, really, really don't like doing that, but it's the only way to do it as Windows can't properly shut down while this program is failing like this. The customer support guys are very friendly and very swamped with issues so be prepared to wait about a week or so before you can have your issues resolved. The idea behind the program is excellent. However, you would be wise to wait six months until they get the bugs worked out.

"No guarantees this product works"
I recently purchased Nero Ultra version 6 for a new Dell Media Center PC. If you are considering Nero 6 be warned that the product only recognizes a limited number of video capture cards. If you plan to capture video, you may find that you are out of luck. Make sure you have a opportunity to try this product in advance or buy from a retailer who will let you return opened software. Otherwise you may find that you have an expensive but useless product on your hands.

Customer support for this product is also very weak. If you run into any problems, be prepared for a lengthy back-and-forth by email. They do not have call centre support, so it is impossible to talk to a real human being about your issue. Good luck.

"Nero 6 ultra edition rock"
A bunch of Newbies, who don't even know anything about computer, or Dvd back up, are daring to compare Nero Vs Roxio.

Let me tell you, Roxio is for newbies, elementary software.

Nero, give almost everything from music to video editing, Mpeg4 format, schedule back up etc. you can even shrink an entire DVd 9 to a 4.7 Gb Thanks to Nero Recode 2, which come bundle with Nero 6.

Nero Has so much features, that it will take a lifetime to completely use them all.

For those of you who are saying that nero is too difficult, try the adobe products, and you will never say a word.

final word, Nero Rock Baby!!!

What our customer's say!

"Nero purchase was wrong ", This was not the correct, full version and would not do what I wanted. The seller refunded without a problem.

"Don't Waste Your Time and Money!", I bought the OEM Suite (it included an expired demo version of the wav editor). I called customer service and was told to purchase MP3pro for $20 to fix the problem. Then, after downloading and not installing properly, I was prompted to go to EXTRAS and Encoding (no encoding). Tried to reinstall, it wouldn't let me. Nero tech support charges $1.29 a minute to help you solve this problem. It's called "throwing good money after bad". STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!

"Nero Vision Express", Excellent product and their support is great. They answered my questions promptly.

"Other excellent programs do exist", Well If you get the OEM version with a new burner (DVD in particular) it does not come with the DVD encoding plugin. Shell out another $24.00. I think the look is just too glitzy. There are other excellent programs that rip music CD's directly to MP3 or Ogg quicker and better. There is even DVD copier programs that will do the same things Nero does PLUS copy protected DVDs. These programs together don't cost you much if any more than NERO. I tried it cause the OEM came with my new 16x DVD burner. It's just like DVD player programs, theres dozens out there, just depends on what you like and of course you know about the inCD problem with XP service pack 2. NERO doesn't even have a complete fix for it. IF you are like me folks and burn AVI's to DVD, convert VHS to DVD and copy DVD's and especially rip music CD's, get something else, but do your research. If it comes with hardware and you have nothing else try it out. If you already have something you use and like keep it, cause remember if it's an OEM shipment it won't be a fully operational version.
This is just my 2 cents worth thats all.

"Byzantine interface", After working with this product for almost 6 months I have finally given up trying to understand their cryptic geeky interface.

Here's an example of what they put you thru. What is the difference between :

- make a data disk

- make a disk copy

You tell me how to proceed here? I'm sure that the geeks that develop this type of confusing instruction set understand what they mean. But do you?

I can't say how much I hate this geeky, techo-driven interface, that leaves you in the dark as to what exactly you are trying accomplish. It's all flash & dash, but has no substantive, down to earth, copying sequence of instructions. It's almost like Nero is drunk as he is fiddling away, while your CD-ROM or DVD may or may not being doing what you instructed it to do.

Anyway, I did manage to finally copy my files from my hard drive to a DVD disk for backup. HEY, that's all I am trying to do here, as most users are! But I had to go thru a lot of interface bulls!!t to do such. And I am still not sure if Nero did indeed copy all the files that I wanted it to copy. Or leave me with a half-burned disk.

I am not Steven Spielberg. I do NOT want to copy half tracks of some video CD, mixed with interlaced scanning on the 1/8 track to adjust color balance and synch that up with the original 8 MM tape! I JUST WANT TO COPY MY FREAKING HARD DRIVE TO A DVD DISK. That's all.

For my next PC, I'm going back to Adaptec. At least that program sort of operates according to how you are used to copying files from your HD to a CD or DVD : Left window pane >> select >> click >> copy >> right window pane >> click >> burn >> done.

Less is more, especially in this case. To bad the makers of Nero don't understand that. We are not all movie directors. All we want to DO is backup our hard drives, in most cases.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Buy Roxio and forget about Nero", LOL...I noticed one of the reviewers comparing Roxio to Nero and said Nero was better even though there was a "learning curve" with Nero and Roxio was "easier" to use. Well, there is a "learning curve" and you will learn, as I have, to stay away from Nero and stick with Roxio. When Nero works, its good, but half the time I have a wasted CD and I have to start all over. Many times, when I am burning a CD, it reads a CD as already full, when in actuality, it's not! Roxio's user-friendly interface, perfect CD's everytime, and user support, is what makes it so appealing and what makes for good piece of Software. Nero is nothing but junk and should not be sold in the United States!

"Fails on backups", I tried to do a multiple cd backup. After an hour of cd burning I had a failure. This happens cd burning tends to be tricky but what should not happen is that the program completely gave up. It didn't ask for a new cd to try again with, it just ejected and stopped the program. I could also not elect to try and do a new backup that took into account the succesful burnings from that session.

"The Best Burning Software", Nero 6 is 99.9% effective but has a tendency to corrupt now again simply because it has a vast configuration system. Nero is a core burning tool. This means that several backup packages out there will actually find Nero on install and use it for burning. One example is DVDshrink that runs Nero in the background while backing up DVD movies on DVD-R. I/O errors with these programs, including DVD Decrypter, are usually the result of a configuration problem with Nero. One example is updating your firmware. Sometimes this requires you to reinstall Nero. This problem however is the only bug I have found with Nero. Just on the side - I highly recommend a Plextor external DVD burner for reliability and Imation, Memorex, Verbatim as relatively cheap good second class media (80% or higher burn success rate). DVD is still in its early days of development and some media is garbage so don't blame Nero or the Plextor if you make coasters (half burned DVD-R Discs that are useless to you) with this software. I also recommend a healthy supply of at least 3 DVD-RW Discs for TESTING your burning so that you NEVER make a coaster and waste money. Okay, now back to Nero.

Nero Burning Rom is the real tool in the bundle. It is the most configurable burning tool in the package while Nero Express is for those who do not know a thing about burning and works like a Wizard. A word of advice is to stick with the Rom and learn it without using the Wizard. You can choose from burning 12 CD formats and 6 DVD formats, including several variations of each format. There is not a Disc format you can not Burn with this program. The Plextor burners have great hardware based error correction systems and in conjunction with the Nero software make a perfect burn almost every time. Nero also happens to be extremely fast, if not the fastest out there, however fast is also in terms of how fast your burner is, but the software package requires little to no processing before a 8GB DVD is being pulled onto your HD. You can create ISOs with Nero and even use Nero to open up ISOs so you can read the content (However Daemon Tools does that better). There is an amazing amount of free software out there that uses this burner as their base and rightly so. It is the best burning software out there at this time of writing.

Pros:

- If you can learn tutorials for all types of backups then this and a DVD burner will change your life if you play games and watch movies.
- Solid performance. With good hardware and media almost flawless burns every time.
- Nice configuration. Can even backup your PS2 Games.
- All burning formats.
- About 70mb in size.

Cons:

- Let's face it. DVD burning and backup does have a bit of a learning curve. Read plenty of tutorials that use Nero to do specific backups.
- Corrupts if hardware and other software is updated. Needs to be reinstalled again.
- You really need a top of the range machine to backup a DVD in less than 2 hours.

"No photo show NO responce", I bought Nero Ultra to make photo shows to watch on TV and send to our family. Have tried all types of media and no luck. Emailed teck support twice and still no responce. I wouldn't recommend this type service to my worst enemy.

"Look Carefully At What You Order - Deceptive", I mistakenly thought because the title of this page was Nero 6 Ultra, that I would only be offered that product. So, I was lured by the low prices of what I thought was the product I was looking for. I paid a little over six bucks (including shipping) for Nero 6 OEM. Now I've got two copies. My bad, but it is a mistake that is easy to make. So, be careful with your order.

Anyone want Nero 6 OEM ... cheap?
