Others say..."Difficult to control, no real improvements"Being a huge fan of XSN Golf for Xbox, I decided to try Tiger Woods' game because of all the rave reviews I've heard. I was so disappointed. The controls are rather difficult and hard to master. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 is not that much different from last year's Tiger. The analog swing is unchanged, letting you control the power and direction of your shot with a back-and-forward motion on the analog stick. One of the big new additions to Tiger Woods 2004 is the "game face" feature that allows you to create your own pro golfer with a rather painstaking level of detail. This player creation mode lets you define virtually every aspect of your player's appearance. For some idea as to how extensive it is, there are 18 different attributes that can be modified in terms of facial structure alone, not including facial hair, eye color, skin tone, and what your golfer's teeth might look like. Truly, the level of character customization offered by the game face feature is unparalleled. The only nagging issue with the Tiger Woods games that EA has yet to address seriously is the game's soundtrack. For the past two years, EA has been assembling seemingly random collections of contemporary licensed songs and calling them soundtracks.
"Bogey" Players are not different enough cause you only get Tiger. I dislike how putting is done. Too many arcade elements for a "sim" game. CPU AI is not worth playing against.
"Imagine if it was the 'Jack Nicklaus PGA Tour 2004'" This game is excellent beyond belief and i would have to say one of the more realistic version of golf simulation games. Everything about this game is great, from PGA Tours, to World Tours to Traditional Golf and Stroke Plays, but i clearly am not satisfied with this years roster, it's top notch and got some of the greatest golfers in the present, but what about the legends, golf wouldn't be as popular as it is today if it wasn't for Jack Nicklaus, so if they bring the legend roster for the 2005 edition, that will definitely get my satisfaction, so if you like golf, then i prefer you get this game, it's great but would've done better with adding in Classic Tours and Senior Rosters. See Ya.
"Great game, but where the hell is the pros" I Loved this game the first day i bought it, it was all good and the gameplay was great, but the lack of players are getting on my nerves. Don't get me wrong, there are many great pros like Tiger Woods, John Daly and Vijay Singh nut some players like the legendary two time pga tour winner Davis E Love III seems to be away from the 2004 installment of the Tiger Woods franchise. As far as that, the challenges are hard, the players are flawless and the whole 10 in 10 game is pretty much hype eater. This game has done it but i can't call it perfect. 9.2/10.
"A must play game." EA Sports has whipped yet another juicy title for us to go crazy over. An expert at the sport's genre EA has always excelled in its golf titles, never more present than in its latest title "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004". Right from the get-go you can tell this will be no normal round of golf. It's like the "Bronx" meets "St. Andrews" with DMX pumping out the intro song while golfers break it down B-Boy style. Straight away EA shows off its impressive list of big name golfers from Australia's very own Adam Scott to Fiji's Vijay Singh. EA has even made up its own array of funky characters for the not so fanatical golf fans.
What first impressed me was the revolutionary gameplay that EA Sports has created. EA has come away from practically the only swing style ever used in golfing games, that of clicking the button when the bar reaches the correct area highlighted on a swing bar. EA has made this action much more realistic and entertaining. Taking full advantage of the analog controls on most platforms these days (much like a joystick used on arcade machines), to swing the club you must pull back all the way for a full swing, half way for a half swing and so on and then swinging it forward to hit the ball. A lot harder than it sounds, TRUST ME! Don't let this put you off because the game provides a very well explained introductory game which teaches you how to fully manipulate these moves to your advantage and not that of your opponent's. After a few rounds you'll be scoring like the pros. Hitting the ball hard will take on a life of it's own, with cool camera work similar to that of Max Payne's "Bullet Time" (influence from The Matrix film's) it all makes it a lot more exciting and pulls away from the general school of thought that golf is boring. You also have the option to Fade or Draw your swing, this does take some time to master but a very handy trick for those dogleg curves.
Once you've played a couple of games on any one of the many courses available, you begin to collect money and if you're good enough, even some lucrative sponsorships from brands like Callaway, Precept, Maxi-fly, TagHuer, Adidas, Nike and more. This is where the "Pro Shop" comes in. With over 5000 products to choose from ranging from apparel, equipment, accessories and attribute points you could end up spending much more time shopping than actually playing golf. I must admit I got carried away with this feature and my player now sports some very cool white micro-fibre pants, wearing a cream colored turtleneck top, a white beret, Tag-Huer sunglasses, gold chain, silver ring and bracelet and some very nice brown leather shoes. As you can say it's all too easy to have a little bit too much fun in this option.
Back to golfing, "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003" provided us with a whole bunch of different courses to play on. The bar was raised and nobody expected them to go one better in the 2004 release, but they have. With an impressive list of courses from real locations like Pebble Beach or St. Andrews to fantastic fictional course set high in the Incan mountains in Peru to luxurious holes with a view of Mt Fuji in Japan. With over 25 courses to pick from you will always have somewhere new to go for that relaxing round of golf .If that isn't enough variety for you there are 21 pro golfers and 6 fictional characters to play as or against. Still not satisfied? Just create your own player. EA has included an in-game character builder, which allows you to edit almost every feature you could possibly imagine for your character. From the appearance of your teeth to the features on your face, this option is extremely fun when sitting around with a couple of mates with characters that actually look like yourselves and hitting it out on some of the world's most prestigious courses.
If your friends aren't big fans of video golf, the PlayStation 2 version of "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004" lets you play online. You can play match or stroke games against another real-life opponent or you can compete in online tournaments. You're given a great amount of control over the game settings when playing match or stroke games, allowing you to decide whether you play the front nine, the back nine, or the whole 18-hole course. You also get to choose the length of the rough and the speed of the fairway. You can even introduce a shot clock, which limits the time a player can take for his swing, and, ultimately, it lets you control the pace of the game. This helps to keep a quick nine holes from turning into a long and gruelling ordeal.
One thing that EA has to work on is the soundtrack, with a mix that will please most people including genres such as Hip-Hop, Ska, Hard Rap, Indie and others. The seemingly random collection of contemporary licensed songs causes a clash. Luckily we have the option to edit the playlist and remove any of the songs we don't like. This is only a problem while travelling through the menus. In-game the natural sounds of birds chirping, waves crashing or the wind blowing will compensate for the bad choice in music.
This game left my mates and I competing against each other for weeks, and not online but just by progress in the game. Everyone we show it to also gets hooked. It's addictive because it's fun and easy, but can become very hard and rewarding. Definantely a must play game.
Happy Golfing.

What our customer's say!
"cheat code = " THEKITCHENSINK" to unlock all", This game is good but 2005 is better. There is much more stuff to buy in 2005. Beleive me I wouldnt steer you wrong. Get the 2005. 2006 sucks, they put the shape stick in it for that year and it sucks rel bad , dont buy it. I am a TGW expert. I play it all the time.
"Best game ever!", This game is a lot of fun to play, but it does take a little time to figure out the maneuvers. There are scenarios to practice skills to make your player very skilled. Also you can make your character look pretty close to your own image. It is challenging and very addictive. Fun for both males and females.
"Tiger Woods 2004",
This is a message to all golfers. Tiger Woods 2004 Is the best Tiger Woods game since.... well...2003.This game has a wide variety of golfers, courses, games, and has awesome graphics. You can even create a character that is just like you, or not.
Like I said, this game has awesome graphics. It seems as if you watching golf instead of watching it. Everything looks real, squirrels and birds look real. Most importantly you can play as your favorite golfer, such as Tiger Woods.
It only takes about 10 seconds to load. Other games take About 20 or 30 seconds.
The commentators say humorous stuff . They make fun About you missing the shot. Most other sports games don't Have commentators.
The ball drives even further than before. There is a lot of wind carries the ball even farther.
I would recommend this game to kids 8 and older, because Of controls.
If you want to create your own guy and win championships, You need to get this game.
"tiger woods vs ernie els", this is just a survey to see which player is concidered better by the general public... if you think tiger is better then click, NO, on, was this review helpful...if you think ernie is better then click, YES. be honest. i say ernie because hes more consistent but tiger, when in the zone, is unbeatable. lets see what the public thinks...oh and about this game...i havent got it but ive heard goods things. im getting it off amazon.
"Hall of Fame Game", Tiger Woods Pga Tour 2004 is the one of the best sports games ever made. It has tons of game modes that are all 100% fun, while also challenging the gamer. At first Tiger woods PGA Tour 2004 is hard to get used to, but after a few rounds of 18 you will be having so much fun you can't stop. The rewards you can earn are unbelievable. EA Sports definetly shot a hole in one with this game.
You might need this...
Read this reviews before You buy..."This is a definite buyer, a classic", Ever since i bought this at fall 2003, i just didn't seem to stop playing it, i can't explain it but it can be addictive. This is as real as golf games will ever get, and if you are a true golf fan, do not ignore this. It already recieved a PS2 Gold Award, Joystick 2003 game award, Golf Games Winner, top voted game in history of ps2, sold out almost throughout the US including other countries like the UK, Canada, France and Germany and it got a 10/10 in every review of the ps2 world. this is the only game i found too realistic and give it a 10/10 too. EA did a phenomenal job with this and must get credit for one of the most outstanding games to come out in the Playstation2. This game includes the infamous 52 week pga tour with all the liscense courses, coveted championships and all star line up of pro golfers including Davis Love III, Vigay Singh, Tiger Woods and many more including created personalities and special guest appearences from both Cedric "the entertainer" and "The Don". You'll have to earn your way to the top and beat the best to be the best, win championships and opens, defeat celebrities in the Hollywood Bay Side Invitational and become the king of the game. Among others, this game has the traditional mode where you can play head to head with either your opponent or the CPU, and it also contains everybody's favorite, World Tour, where you can challenge anybody, anywhere and defeat them in both the home ground and the World Championship Open. Win the Prize, complete the PGA Tour, Unlock the Legends, build up your attribute and be the grand champ of Golf. Your Quest begins... "The best Golf game yet", This game; simply put, is the best on the market. The gameplay is addictive and there is tons of stuff to unlock. If i had to name a gripe it would be the lack of difficulty later in the game. To keep it fun after hours and hours of play, you have to turn off all of the gameplay assistants. Overall, i'm extremely impressed. Definetly going to get 2005 when it comes out. "GREAT GAME", I have Tiger Woods 2003 and 2002 and it just keeps getting better. It's woth the $50 even if you still play 2003. The only fault in the game is the PGA tour tournament. I'm shooting around 50-6- under in a four day tournament and the closest person is -15 after 4 days. What I'm saying is it needs to be more challenging when playing in one person mode. The game play is very easy to learn and with a little practice you can become very good fast. Playing with two or more players is a blast especially the new games they have added. One in particular is a match play game where you take players clubs out of their bag when you win a hole. Online play is a great new feature that is added and keeps the game fun and challenging.
"Fault In The Controller and the Program", There is one major and serious problem with this Electronic Arts game. If you want, and you will need need to, drive the ball with a power shot you can't do it reliably. You have to keep flipping the L-1 button so fast that you can't get any power on the ball because you can't flip that button fast enough when producing the backswing. It is terrible! It is left to luck and this absolutely ruins the game to the point it is totally unplayable. You can't drive that ball down the fairway to the pin. It will always fall far short in yardarge and you can't compete with other computer generated players because they will always beat you to a pulp with thier power shots going perfect. After days of trying to get this power shot to happen on a reliable basis I could not. With great frustration and anger I threw the game into the trash where it belongs. I wasted $50. Never again will I buy Electronic Arts games. Poor quality control and frustrating game play. Don't waste your money on this game like I did.
"This Game Is V-E-R-Y Addictive!", Mmmmmm...well, I see that I'm not the only one who's shot 60 under or better. Simply put, even if you are not a fan of golf...I'd recommend this game 110% due to the following: A) Realistic - The golf courses are quite identical to the real ones. For that matter, the players are too. B) Create Your Own Golfer - You get to create your own Golfer...& I do mean create, as in building him/her from the ground up. Then you proceed to beef him/her up to play the PGA Tour Season/World Tour. (I've already dominated the latter of the 2) C) Sponsorships - Earn money out of the wazoo for winning, winning, and more winning. That's not to say you'll finish 1st every time. To be honest, I actually missed the cut for the first 3 tournaments before deciding to make a drastic overhaul on my guy. What a difference that makes! D) Online - If you think you can beat the best of the best when you get the hang of it...here is where you can test your true skill. E) Commentary - I simply love the commentary. 2 very big thumbs up to EA for this game. *If this review helped you, great. If not, then all I can say is play the game. You'll see what I mean.
