"Good product", We have an older ipod that has a motherboard issue, so the headphone jack no longer works. This is the only power adaptor that I could find that also had an audio out on it. It allows me to charge the ipod and connect the ipod to the aux input on the car stereo. We have other ipods as well, but this product has allowed me to leave that ipod in the car so we have it at all times. The only negative is the built in amplifier. You have to get it just right to avoid getting a feedback type of hum throung the car stereo.

"Simple, Cheap, Good", Anyone who uses a car cassette adapter or line-in to play music in their car will appreciate this. It's cheap, charges the iPod (not officially the iPhone, but it DOES work), and gives a clean, powerful line-out signal. Harder to find because of the popularity of radio transmitters (not as good, interference problems). Recommend to those with a simple car and setup.

"Great Product, has served me well over the last 4 years!!", I purchased this product 4 years ago to use with my iPod in my Chevy Silverado. I have used it pretty much on a daily basis since then. Well, as much use as I get out of the device (plug it in, unplug it, plug in, unplug it...) it has finally given out. The dock connector has become loose, and therefore causes my iPod to pause whenever I hit a bump. Luckily, Belkin offers a Lifetime Warranty on their quality products. I just got off their website after requesting a new unit to be sent to me. All I have to do is pay for shipping to return the old unit. Unbelievable!! And to think I almost bought a brand new one!! Anyway, I expect the replacement to last as long or longer than the original. Also, as has been stated in other reviews already, use the included 3.5mm jack (rather than the iPod earphone jack) to route your music directly into the stereo. You will get crystal clear amplified sound, and you will only need one wire to plug into the iPod.

"Build quality sucks", This product works pretty good...........when it's not broken. The wiring came apart on the first one I owned. Belkin has a lifetime warranty so I returned it for another one that now won't stay connected to the cigarette lighter and I see no way of fixing it.

"Doesn't work with iPhone 3G", This product works great for iPods and the original iPhone. But note that it won't charge the new iPhone 3G. You can play music from the 3G through the Belkin, but it won't charge. This is because, as I understand it, the 3G is the first iPod/iPhone product that will only charge via the USB lines in the Dock Connector. But the Belkin still uses the older Firewire lines for charging.

"Just okay", Belkin F8V7058-APL. There is static with any movement of the connected iPod and an annoying electrical hum with the device volume control at certain levels. I don't know if it's broken or supposed to be this way. I'm too lazy to send it back and it's just acceptable for use.

"Would be great device if worked properly....", I recently purchased this with the obvious intent of hooking an ipod into the aux jack of my car radio. In theory, this works pretty well. The charger plugs into the cig lighter socket and hooks into the port on the ipod. The charger has a port so that an audio cable can be run from the port to the radio. Charger even has a volume control for the audio out. In theory, this is great since only one cable would need to be run to the ipod. However, my charger does not seem to dock well with the ipod. The connector is always loose which results in not always getting the full range of sound. While driving, a bump in the road often loosens the connection with my ipod resulting in losing sound from the right side speakers. I have to constantly jiggle the cable. Could definitely work better.

"Great Solution if you have a line input on your audio system", I recently purchased this item to connect my 2nd generation ipod nano to my audio system in my Honda Civic. They Civic comes with a Aux input so I merely connected a 3mm cable to the Belkin device and my stereo. The sound is incredible. Way better than when I was running the output through the headphone jack on the ipod. Once I set the level on the built in amp in the Belkin unit, the sound level is very similar to listening to CDs or radio. Don't have to worry about blasting my ears any more when I change inputs. For the money, this device works great.

"Payed $40 to listen to my spark plugs", In my Mazda3, there is a constant hum--a crackling noise--that makes this device practically unusable.

I noticed that other reviewers have this same problem. Belkin has not properly shielded the device and this fact reflects poorly on the quality of their products.

Unfortunately I have not found any other alternative other than an FM transmitter (with lower sound quality, something I was hoping to avoid) or a $100-300 adapter to connect the iPod like a CD changer to the stereo.

Just be aware that the electronics are shoddy and that it may not work with all cars.
