"A Great Bunch of Songs"
This CD rocks, and includes a great variety of songs that go great together. Except Rage. Why include another Rage song? By this time they weren't even a band anymore. Also includes the best Linkin Park song ever. Why, I say that? Because there's no singing. If they put out an album of their instrumental stuff, I'd buy it. Ever LP song is a Japanese dude rapping with an annoying white guy screaming over him. Anyways, the Zombie, Manson, Dougan songs are all great. Wish they included another Rammstein song, though.

"Needs to be Reloaded again."
With the Success of the Matrix back in 99, it was only a matter of time before the sequel would arrive. Now along with the original Matrix came a hard-hitting soundtrack from today's top rock/metal bands. So with Reloaded also came the music soundtrack. And to put it bluntly the music surpasses the movie itself, but not by much. What we get for Reloaded is a two disc set with mixed results.

Disc one of Reloaded follows in the same footsteps of the first movie by bringing out the hard rock. The disc opens with a snooze from Linkin Park with "session" and only manages to get a little better after that. The tracks range from good, RATM's "Calm like a Bomb". To really poor, Team Sleep "pass portal". To the downright ugly, why in the world is the Dave Matthews band on here? The standout track is the ever good Rob Dougan's "Furious Angels". An epic combination of symphony and techno. Overall, a big letdown. 1 star.

Luckily we get a second disc that tries to redeem the first. Disc two encompasses Don Davis's score from the first movie carried over for the second, and in my opinion one of the best techno bands ever, Juno Reactor. With the combination of their two talents we get some excellent pulse pounding music in the "Mona Lisa Overdrive" and "the burly brawl." This music really helps you get into the action scenes. Disc two really helps the movie experience and is fun to listen to. 4 ½ stars.

As a bonus this cd comes enhanced with a couple trailers and a short making of the videogame for Enter the Matrix. Its not very insightful but they are still cool additions, which boosts this cd's score by ½ a star.

In closing, after the huge bar set by the Matrix its sequel just couldn't live up to the hype of the first. The film was bad but the soundtrack only manages to squeak by because of Davis's score and the nice addition with Juno Reactor. I only recommend this for the second cd and the extras, but even then I'd only buy it dirt cheap. 3 stars in the end.

"Disk 1=TRASH"
The fist time I listened to disk 1 I thought I was trapped in a nightmare. If I were you I would buy it and stomp on disk 1 till it cracked or blow it up with explosives

"Not As Good As I Expected It To Be..."
I expected this soundtrack to really be something special. I was wrong, though. Half of the tracks on disc one are instrumental and the only good songs on it are "Reload", "This Is The New Sh*t", and "Lucky You". Disc two consists of only instrumental songs featured in the film. It is very boring.

"Reveals the rotten core of today's film composers"
Now, if you are a fan of the movie, you better skip this review and have a nice day because what I'll have to say about this 2 disc set is probably going to make you feel uncomfortable.

First of all, the content: the first disc contains numerous song by various artists "inspired by" the movie.
Disc two offers you the actual movie score by Don Davis and his collaborators Rob Dougan, Paul Oakenfold and Juno Reactor.
And there's already my first complaint.
Why release something like this?
I doubt that the majority of potential buyers is interested in both, the songs AND the score.
They'll have to pay more for a disc they don't really need!
Oh, well, the strongest aspect of the Matrix always was the commercial one ...

Then, the content itself. I am not really interested in the first disc, and have never actually listened to it, so i can't comment on that.
Let me just say that the increasing number of "Music inspired by" soundtracks really annoys me. Some companies even think they don't need to release a score soundtrack at all!
Let me tell you that the COMPOSER carries the film; it's because of him (or her) we cry or shudder, so give them some credit, for heaven's sake!
Even if Don Davis' score is boring, 20 minutes is ridiculous!

Which brings me to disc 2. Don Davis exemplifies on a larger scale what's so horribly wrong with today's composers. A good knowledge of classical composition, orchestration and a sense for the heart of a scene doesn't seem to be required anymore.
What do we use for action? Lots of brass and some techno to make it sound "cool", to give it some "drive".
What do we use for dialogue and emotion? Strings, lots of strings!
And add a choir for the "climax"!
And which direction are we going with this score? Direction? You mean there should be some development (not that the actual movie would go ANYWHERE, but nevertheless)?

This thing goes absolutely nowhere. You hit the play button, and 30 minutes later you think "so?"
I realise that this is the middle part of a trilogy, but you have to have *some* sort of climax.
Admittedly, it's difficult to drive the score anywhere without a title theme. "Matrix" is the only movie score I know that hasn't got ANYTHING that resembles REMOTELY a title theme (about motifs for certain characters this one can only dream).

There will probably be some people out there who think of the decrescendo-crescendo gesture as a "theme".
But, folks, to throw in some basic musical knowledge, that's not a "theme", that's merely a "gesture"!
So, the trademark of these scores is that they have no own identity to speak of whatsoever ... although it mirrors the movies, I doubt that this was Davis' goal.

At some point during the film, you just can't bear the flat trumpet crescendos anymore.
Like the movie itself, it settles into a two- dimensional routine: quiet-loud-quiet-loud ... it's simply tiring!

The most cruel thing about this score is that it is so thunderously, colossaly superficial and predictable.

You can look wherever you want: Davis never tries to capture the essence of a scene or to try something innovative.

The worst kind of "musical wallpaper" (trademark Danny Elfman) you can imagine.
So flat, so tiresome, so repeating and so pale and faceless like Keanu Reeves.

"Amazing!!!!", This CD is amazing!! I loved Every Minute of it!! Everyone should own this AWSOME CD!!!!!!!!!!!

"even better", I liked this CD even better than the CD for the first movie. The impression that I got is that this music was created for the movie. Made for a good listen.

"not too great, but the second cd...", At first I was only going to give 4 stars, because, with the exception of the Rob D track, the "Bruises" song, and the Dave Matthews song, this compilation of music didn't seem all that inspiring as it was in the first soundtrack. However, I almost forgot about the second cd. The second cd contains the musical score by Don Davis with additions by Juno Reactor in a couple tracks. This really makes this cd a great purchase. They should have done this with the first soundtrack. I get so easily sucked into the movie whenever I hear this music. If you liked the score at all you should get this. A definite worth while purchase.

"Excellent", Bought this for my husband and my son, they both love it. Said it's a must have.

"Music to kick@$$ to!", Arguably better than the first soundtrack, the second films music is straight in your face and that's how we like it. The perfect compliment to any high octane action flick, tracks by metal giants like Manson and Zombie get the disc kicked off but it's Chino who steals the whole show with offerings from both his bands. The Deftones offer us their softer side with `Lucky You' which is personally my favorite track here, and one of my favorite songs period. Chino's side band Team Sleep also offers one of the CD's best tracks. Chino is god, he knows this! Songs from techno giants like Fluke, Oakenfold (awesome track) and Rob Dougan litter the remainder of disc one (and Linkin Park delivers a disc highlight), and disc two settles down with a brilliant score for the film. Great compliment to the movie...in fact I'm tempted to say that this collection of rock and techno tracks may even be BETTER than the movie...tempted!

"First disk: Hmmm Second disk: Wow!", As a fan of the Matrix Reloaded, one thing I liked the most was the music. So I picked up the two disk set to see what the "album" was like. I should point out that I dont like rock songs, which is what the first disk was full of. In the end, the first disk is OK, but the second disk really shines.

Disk one

Session: An interesting mix of what sounds like electronic harp and various beats.

This is the new S**t: Starts of with some interesting pulsing and beat music. I dont care for the lyrics. A bland song.

Reload: I liked the quick but low toned beat at the beginning, but after the lyrics started my interest vanished.

Furious angels: A musical track of Neo fighting the agents in the beginning of the movie. Elegant insturments and a tone that suggests great power held in check permeates this track. I think of it as ballet music played to a fight scene. I liked it, but it goes on a bit too long

Lucky you: Starts off really strong with a catchy, echoey beat, but again, I lost interest when the lyrics started. But the music is good.

The Passportal: This one suprised me. Starts out as generic rock music, but as it goes on various instruments such as electronic beats and light tunes come in to create a uniuqe and interesting listening experience. There's even a UFO zippy sound in there

Sleeping awake: Please make it stop! Ahhhhoooohhhhh it burns! A completly generic rock music with the words Zion stuck in. Completly forgettable

Bruises: Another generic rock song. Yawn. Lets move on.

Calm like a bomb: With an almost humorous start, this one could have been good, but quickly descnends into another generic rock song with shouting guys. Lets move on.

Dread Rock: Now I like this one! Catchy, quick, and memorable electronic insturments combined with a great beat make this a memorable track.

Zion: My favorite track on the first disk. Haunting and strangely relaxing beats make this great dance music. I find it strangely relaxing to listen to. It really conveys the mood of a large, happy, and relaxed party. Great stuff!

When the world ends: I really liked the mysterious and catchy music in this song, but the words are average at best, and I would have chosen a different singer.

Disk two

Main title: The catchy and memorable opening track to the movie. Not a whole lot to say here.

Trinity Dream: Good pounding and thunderous beats really convey the feeling of someone falling while fighting. But there are about thiry extra seconds of falling music that was not in the movie that threw off the pacing just a little bit.

Teahouse: Pure asian fight music. I liked the drum beats and sticks clanging together. The Australian digery-doo's (I think), add a uniuqe feel when they come in.

Chateau: With elegent, yet powerful action beats, this track is certianlly memorable. I liked the moment where theres a few seconds of silence, followed by a strong pulsing electronic beat. Very cool.

Mona Lisa overdrive: Talk about amazing! This ten minnute track follows the incredible freeway chase. The strong pulsing electronic beat that plays for the majority of the track is incredibly catchy and fun to listen to. You probably shouldent play this on the freeway, or you might start to go faster then normal when driving. A very catchy and memorable track.

Burly Brawl: An exciting track makes the fight scene from the movie even better, and we get to listen to it here. The music really gives the idea of a huge (but playfull) fight. When Neo gets his pipe, and the male voiceovers begin playing, the music becomes even more epic and dramatic as the odds rise and rise against our hero.

Matrix Reloades suite: This epic seventeen minute track has every other track from the movie compressed into one large track. I would have liked to have the tracks spread out, because if you like just one part, you have to fast forward and know the exact position to find it. It includes the Zion Hanger, people offering Neo food, entering the teahouse, the power plant, Neo catching Trinity, and the ending. One problem is that many of the moments are out of order from the movie, so you'll get meeting the oracle just before Neo catches Trnity. It would have worked very well if some of the larger bits were offered up as individual tracks.

In the end, the first disk has only some memorable tracks (almost all insturmental), while the second disk is a really fun and memorable (if a bit short) listen.

"At least the movie is cool", For someone like me who isn't a metal fan, it was a huge disappointment to see that in order to get the awesome score from the movie, I'd have to also purchase a CD containing the likes of Marilyn Manson. On the other hand, I'm sure there are fans out there who only wanted the rock, not the score. Not my idea of good marketing. It would have been better if the two had been seperate, a la original Matrix, so fans could seperate out or buy both. But since that's not an option, I recommend buying this set and giving the less preferred CD to someone who would appreciate it more.

"Kick-(...) Soundtrack For A Kick-(...) Movie", I am a huge fan of the Matrix Trilogy. I have watched all 3 movies many many times. And yes, I am one of those people who spend hours on the net surfing Matrix fan sites about the Philosophy and Meaning behind the Matrix movies. I can honestly say that it is rare that a soundtrack can capture the essence of a movie it represents but this is one of those soundtracks. It is perfectly in tune with the movie and I cannot imagine the movies without the music. I also happen to share the same musical taste as The Watchowski Bros, rock vs techno vs industrial. You can find this type of music in all of it's glory here. Manson, Deftones, RATM, Rob D and Rob Zombie are the highlights of this album. I have been fans of their music for a long long time. Don Davis is the perfect composer for The Matrix and he does not disappoint here. In fact, working with Juno Reactor has only made the music better, with cool beats, orchestral sounds and background vocals of a choir that represents depression and technological decay. I only have one complaint about this amazing soundtrack and that is the song from POD. I am truly disappointed the Watchowski Bros went with POD's "Sleeping Awake" for the main song of The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack. They really pale in comparison to Manson's "Rock Is Dead" in the earlier Matrix movie. Ah..well, there's no such thing as a perfect album i guess. Other than this, I have nothing but praise for this album. If you're looking for a soundtrack that integrates with the movie seamlessly, look no further...this is it.

"The Matrix Series has the best music out of any movie series", I love this soundtrack

Zion is probably been played more times than any other song in the past 2 years it is by far my favorite techno track

Sleeping awake- One of the best songs of all time the chorus gives you chills......Love the vibe!

"Reloaded!!!!", This is a dual CD collection of soundtracks from the credits. The first CD has music from bands that can be heard at the end in the credits. While the 2nd Cd my favorite has music from the background music true soundtrack music. The second CD also features rom for your computer, like a preview of the Animatrix (Last Flight of th Osris (my personal favorite)), an early tralier of matrix revolutions.

There are really no major flaws.... really how can you mess up a music CD (well....its been done, look at Creed). Any who I really hated the first CD for the Gothic/ Punk/ Stupid beat music. The features are nothing new since its al out.

I really like the 2nd CD because of the Soundtracks, really entertaining. The CD rom stuff really is cool, and a good background music to work to. Only thing holding this thing from a 5 is the first CD. So a 4/5.
