"Okay, but I've played better."
This was my second final fantasy game that I have played. My first was FF Tactics Advanced, which i would reccomend alot more than this game. The storyline can get overly confusing, and the battles just don't feel right. I would reccomend it to some, but not too all.

"Algo decepcionado..."

"Only for fans"
First off, I've been playing FF ever since I can remember. Second, FFX blew me away and I fell in love with it. So, naturally I ran right out and bought FFX-2.
Big disappointment, really, even if you are a girly girl. But, if you love FF and even RPG, I would recommend renting this game to play for a little while. If you are like me and love FFX, play this game 100% through just for the satisfaction of seeing how the sequel plays out. I don't think if anyone had told me what the game was like if it would have stopped me from playing it -- please, you won't want to play the game more then once.

"Final Fantasy XII"
FF XII on PS2 format is challenging and fun, and you dont need 20 fingers to play it.

"A shining example of what happens when you throw together a game using a bunch of negative female stereotypes..."
Where to start? Sigh, just thinking about this game gets my blood boiling. I can't for the life of me understand why some people are giving this 5 stars. Well, first off, just let me say that I am female. It should be glaringly obvious that this game is targeted towards a female audience (or so Square-Enix may believe). Unfortuneately, I was sickened by this game. Well, let's start with something good.

Graphics (10/10): Not bad at all. I'm not too picky about graphics and I can honestly say that these are pretty good. Bright, shiny, nice for a PS2 game.

Music (4/10): Honestly, this is a matter of opinion, but I didn't like the mix of jazz, techno and pop that made up this soundtrack. The final fantasy series is known for its beautiful classical-style music, and this game is a huge departure from that. The airship music made me want to turn off the sound and put a previous game's soundtrack into my cd player. The only song I really liked was "A Thousand Words".

Characters (0/10): This section may even deserve a negative rating. It's like Square-Enix decided to make a game just for the women out there-except they chose the top 10% of the female populous that were the most stupid, shallow, and air-headed people they could find for advice on what to put in this game. This game gives real women a bad image. Yuna, a mature, intelligent character I love from FF10, has been kidnapped and replaced with a body double who has the intellect of a card-board box covered in glitter. I mourned the loss of the real Yuna. FF10 Yuna grappled with such deep and complex issues as self-sacrifice and questioning her faith, FF10-2 Yuna likes playing dress-up and uses words like "dissasteriffic". Honestly, the other two characters are no better; they are just as shallow and stupid. I was actually excited about the all-female cast, I was expecting the intelligence-level of the female characters from FF10--not to be found here.

Story (1/10): Wow. This story is vapid. It starts out promisingly enough-Yuna views a sphere of someone who looks like Tidus, and sets out to find out if the impossible task of ressurecting him can be accomplished. The rest of the story falls apart from there. The vast majority of this "story" is made up of mini-games and side-quests. Now, I like sidquests and mini-games as much as the next person, but there's a reason they have the words "side" and "mini" in them. They are supposed to take a back-burner to the main story. In this game, it's the other way around: the main game is composed of one dull, uninteresting sidequest/mini-game after another, while the main storyline takes forever to emerge/develop. By the time the main story finally got around to being focused on, I no longer cared.

Battle System (6/10): I had no real qualms with the actual battle mechanic. The system is a variation of turn based that is rather fast -- battles move quickly and your characters move around the field, helping you break out of the "let's all line up and attack" feel of previous games (which I actually didn't mind at all). I must say that the Dress-sphere system itself is actually a rehashed version of the Job system from FFV. Except in FFV it felt serious and mature-here it feels like you're playing Barbie dress-up. Also, unlike FFV, you usually need to switch outfits in mid-battle, which slows battle down in an irritating fashion. Another complaint that brings down the score in this section is the irritating phrases of your characters in battle. Just listening to Rikku sqeal out another irritating inane phrase makes me cringe.

Gameplay (0/10): If the rest of my review isn't enough for you, here's the final nail in the coffin. I was excited when I heard this game would be non-linear. I thought it would be like Chrono Cross, where there was a story that you moved through, but certain key decisions (i.e. choose to rescue a character vs. not doing so) made along the way would affect future plot points. Not so here, it is a mission based system with almost no direction. The only real effect skipping half the inane crap does is to keep you from getting the perfect ending. Things as small and pointless as forgetting to talk to one random NPC in chapter 2 could make you miss 1/2 a point which would prevent you from getting that perfect ending. The effect of this is that you must follow a guide to the nearest letter, thus ruining any feeling of "non-linearity". Oh, and all those "fun" sidequests you'll be doing aren't fun at all.

Overall score (1/10)- *NOTE that this is not an average, it's my subjective feel of what this game deserves. As for whether you should rent or buy this, I suggest neither. In fact, if you're a fan of the original FF10, I suggest you forget this game ever happened.

What our customer's say!

"The Worst Game Ever", No, I'm not over-reacting. This is literally, the Worst Game EVER. If you really want to delve this far into j-pop and teeny drama then you should probably just stick your head down a toilet and end it now. This game is nothing more than a Japanese version of One Tree Hill. And yes, because this game is the worst game ever, it's also the worst FF ever, FF8 eat your heart out.

"X-2 Makes An Amazing Sequel To X", I finished FFX about 8 months ago, and as soon as I was done I had to play X-2. FFX was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played, and so far the only, not counting X-2 which I am very close to being done with. Here's what I think of X-2:

The game is great, it has a complicated, amazing plot, but for me, after X the battle system confused me. It's not bad, I just prefer X's battle system. However, after a little while I got used to it, and started to enjoy it. The dresspheres allow you to decide what abilities you want Yuna, Rikku and Paine to have, and the great part is-- the girls share the dresspheres, allowing you to decide who you want to do what. Also, the girls have special dresspehres which are very powerful which only they can use-- Yuna's dressphere is only accessible by Yuna, etc.

The story is the best part of this game. Although Tidus isn't actually in the game, he is mentioned many times, and sometimes Yuna will to talk to him in her thoughts, reminiscing about various memories she shared with Tidus, or telling him things in her life currently. There are many moments where I found myself sobbing, because it was so sad and seemed so real. Although I haven't finished the game, I know the various endings and they are all amazing, but I can't give that away...

For X-2 you follow Mission's, requiring you to do a certain thing. You can find movie spheres all over Spira, which show clips of various things that happened. You can even view the sphere that led to Yuna's decision to be a sphere hunter..

One of the best parts of the game is the fact that YOU control the story. Sure, there's a basic story that you follow, but there are also different paths you can take. The New Game Plus allows you to play the game over again, your characters levels going back to how they started, but you can keep all your items, gil, speheres, and what's even better-- your completion points. In order to obtain the 'Perfect Ending' you must get a 100% completion. Which means when you have an option to do a mini-game or not, do it. There are three endings I believe, based on what you do in the game and what you choose at the end of the game. Getting 100% completion might be difficult without the official Strategy Guide, so if you really want 100% completion, it might be wise to be the book.

If you loved Final Fantasy X, this is the perfect sequel to finish up Yuna's story. Although make sure you've played X before you play X-2-- X-2 is a sequel, continuing X's story. If you haven't played X it will be very confusing.

"Not for me", I liked playing Final Fantasy x much more then this one. This is more real time play and I just didn't like being attacked while I had to sit there trying to figure out which attack to use back. For Final Fantasy players this game is probably great but not for me. I discontinued playing after only one week.

"Plenty Fun", Overall a pretty good game. A couple of spots, mainly the concerts, are a little on the cheesy side, but other than that, the game is pretty good. A good story line, a lot of action, and a good gameplay.

"It's entertaining", Well it's definitely not FFX, but it's entertaining to say the least. The battles in this one are not nearly as tough as FFX, but it's fun to play. I beat the game in a week, and it's so so.

There's lots of different things about the game, but most of all, they change clothes...a lot...It seems a little stereotypical that girls change clothes...and that's how they do battle. It's just a little blase for me...

The story is good, but not nearly as enthralling as FFX. It's a little anti-climactic for an ending, and the end boss is not hard to fight AT ALL! I never had to re-do a game. I beat the storyline bosses without a problem.

Overall a good play, but if you're looking for something deep, this is not it.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"the storyline can feel a little nebulous and disjointed ", FFX-2's free-form approach to game progression is novel, but it lacks the singular narrative thrust of FFX or other typical RPGs, and the storyline can feel a little nebulous and disjointed as a result. Consequently, you'll feel compelled to visit every area in every chapter in order to get a firm handle on the game's plot. Jody Bissoon

"Fantastic", I had heard that this was "A Chick's Final Fantasy" and I was a little more than turned off at first by the way people described it too me, what with the basic concept being to collect different outfits and stuff. But I was drawn in by my pretty much impossible goal of getting every Final Fantasy game out there, I got this one fairly cheap. It was shipped super fast, in near perfect condition, it doesn't skip or anything. I agree, it has more of an appeal to females, however, there are some fan service areas that might make men consider buying it. Such as a hot spring scene, and a rather up played back massage scene and skimpy outfits. Game play is very familiar basically, except there's no summoning for your party, you only control three characters, and you can change outfits mid-battle to change abilities. Even though some parts are disappointing, I would still recommend this game for hardcore fans, and sometimes even a few laughs ^^.

"Trying to be fair...", Compared to FFX, X-2 is a bit short, childish and sort of pointless. But I wouldn't say X-2 is simply a piece of junk. It does contain some new and interesting elements.
People usually like things that they are familiar with and reject things they are not. I think that's why people are yelling that X-2 is such a letdown. Because people are so used to the system of X which is such a perfect game and don't really want to adjust themselves to fit in the new system. I hated ATB when I first picked up this game and decided to give up. But after a couple of hours play it turned out kind of fun. The battle system requires you to design a good "first step" dressphere grid and choose different jobs for each character to defeat different enemies with different attributes.
Speaking of the downside of the game, there are quite a few. Most of the music is annoying, especially the one when you are on the ship. Except the beginning theme (where you choose "New game" and "Load game") which reminds me typical FF series, the rest is either childish or boring. The graphic isn't bad in terms of color and overview. But much details are missing from X, like real-time facial expression. The faces in X-2 are just so fake. These things make the game a little cheap.
X-2 is not as good as X, but that's all because X is such a perfect game. X-2 still has something interesting for FF fans to explore.

"Total Letdown", I was in love with Final Fantasy X when I played it, and it still resides high up in my list of 10 games I've ever played. I was looking forward to Final Fantasy X-2 eagerly, even though it looked to be nothing more than a cash-in on Final Fantasy fans. Lucky for me, my friend got this for his birthday and I got to sink a couple of hours into it before I spent the money on the game.

The graphics are great. They're really colorful, high quality, and they stand out. That being said, they haven't been upgraded at all sine Final fantasy X. So all that praise I just gave it, is pretty much praise for Final Fantasy X. They seriously did not improve the graphics at all. Yet another indicator that this is nothing but a cash-in on the fans.

The soundtrack is pretty good at times, and then horrible at others. When it uses more traditional JRPG music it's wonderful. Unfortunately, that's not the only music they use. They also have thins bubblegum-pop kind of music that is disgusting and revolting to listen to. The voice work is good, as it was in Final Fantasy X.

The game-pay itself usually isn't that big of a factor in JRPGs, as the story is the most important part. So there should have been nothing wrong with the original turn-based system, in fact, I kind of liked it. Well they released it with some kind of indescribable crap that can't even decide what kind of RPG combat system it wants to be. It's by far the worst combat I've ever experienced in an RPG, and at least a contender for worst in a game period. Don't even get me started on Square's pathetic excuse for platforming they decided to throw in. As for the story, in the trailers they make you think it will matter and truly carry on from where Final Fantasy X left off, but they're pretty much tricking you. The game has almost nothing to do with anything, except that it includes the same characters. I was so hoping for a continuation of the story, but no luck here.

In other words, this game utterly failed me in every way possible. I guess the game is passable from an unbiased standpoint, so I'll let it slide by with a 6.5. If you're a Final Fantasy fan, this may satisfy your Final Fantasy Hunger, but I seriously doubt it.

"BRATZ version of Final Fantasy X", I am not a follower of the FF game line, however I do enjoy linear game play (ie LOTR: The Third Age). I picked up FFX on lark, and fell in love with it! Getting closer to the end of the game, and hearing there was a sequel, I had to try it!

I finished FF X, and excitedly put in FF X-2. Then my jaw dropped to the floor and I almost wept.

If you enjoyed FF X, this is NOTHING like it! The battle mode is confusing and messy, the sphere grid is gone and replaced with some type of "barbie dress-up" spheregrid. The music is beyond annoying and so are the childish antics and attitudes of the characters.

I played about 35 minutes and couldn't stomach it anymore....my best advice would be to rent this first to see if it is a style you would enjoy.
