"With Linux", I am using Ubuntu 8. When I start the OS, I need to turn the Num Lock on the main keyboard on (or off) in order to make this keypad work. After that the Num Lock state on the main keyboard does not matter.

"No Complaints", Works great, speeds up data entry on laptops! The extra USB ports are handy too!

"Not Mac user friendly", Even though the package says Mac 10.1 + compatible, it is not. I even emailed Targus and they said it was definitely not Mac compatible. Don't waste your money.

"A good product - but not perfect", I use a laptop and sometimes need to enter a large amount of numbers into
various applications, so I really missed having a keypad on my keyboard.
The Targus Ultra Mini USB keyboard really goes a long way to replacing the
normal keyboard keypad. The extra USB port is a nice extra as well. The
only complaint I have is that the keypad lies flat without a built in way
to tilt it to a more comfortable angle.

"Clearly not Mac compatible even though box says it is", The packaging for this product says that it is Mac compatible, with no drivers needed. Well, you can't use this thing on a Mac at all -- in some applications it replaces each digit that you typed with a 0, and in others it types the correct digits but produces an error tone each time. There's no way that the company didn't know about this. Targus should be ashamed of itself for purposely putting out mislabeled crap. This is my last purchase of a Targus product.

"Just the thing..", Sure beats using the laptop numbers! I plugged it in and started using it without any problems. Makes entering data so much easier. The numbers are large enough without being too big and they have a nice touch. It's great!

"Not really Vista Ready!", I bought this Keypad for my HP Pavilion DV6675US 15.4" Entertainment Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7250, 4 GB RAM, 250 Hard Drive, Vista Ultimate) since I use a lot of engineering software and excel but I was deeply disappointed when I first plugged in the device supposed to be VISTA READY.

At first I had a really hard time to make this work, since it says drivers are installing and after about 5min it says drivers are not found. I tried to search for drivers for this device but there are NONE. I wrote to Targus Support and they weren't that much of a help, they asked me to try again, and again, and again, by uninstalling the device from the device manager in Win, but that didn't make any difference.

After a lot of time, and a lot of rehearsal I found that after windows fails to locate drivers you have to choose a location manually and enter the Folder Windows/System32, search subfolders, and it DOES install drivers and works. It has to be done 4 to 5 times, since it installs drivers for the Keypad, and the USB Hub included in the keypad (2 USB 1.1 ports).

I know that probably this isn't Targus fault, but they should test it more throughly before labeling a product VISTA READY. By the way, it works flawlessly in XP, a real Plug and Play.

About the characteristics offered by the keypad, it's alright, nothing more or less than you would expect from a $10 USB keypad. You just have to be cautious when entering 0 if you are used to a regular keyboard keypad.

For XP I'd give it 5 stars, but for Vista it's barely a 3 star product.

"OK", Works OK but lies flat with no way to slant it for people used to a regular keyboard slant. Also not really that small. But for the size of the keys it is the smallest it could be. Maybe the "mini" relates to the fact is is pretty thin. Overall good addition to laptop work accessory.
