"Its a good game."
I liked this game mainly because you could buy and build all types of business. The only draw back to this game is that they limet your game play from 1930 to 2000. You should be able to play until you take all your opponents money and properties. Buy this game its a whole lot of fun and will keep you busy for hours.

"Almost Perfect!"
This tycoon game was almost perfect. In my opinion it is a upgrade of playing the board game. You get to lease and auction property from the city and build stores, apartments and make money. Time goes by really fast in years and you see a little as far as the cars and the other way to tell is by the different type of stores available to open. Once in a while they give you a card and you either have to pay something or get money, similar to the board game. I really enjoyed it but I wish you can move on to the next level with what you have built instead of starting all over again at the new/next level. If it wasn't for that I would have graded it a 5.

This game is really fun. Although its not like monopoly, they do a good job of adapting a tycoon game with monopoly.

"Sim City - Meet Monopoly!"
This game seems to be a cross between Sim City and Monopoly. I got this game for Christmas from a friend. I must say at the onset that I was prepared to be disappointed. I've played more "Tycoon" games than anyone I know. And most of them were junk compared to some of the greats like Zoo Tycoon and Roller Coaster Tycoon.

But I was surprised. This game is good. The many tutorials give you the kick in the pants you will need to get you started. Even if you've played other 'tycoon' games, you =will= need to refresh your knowledge of what you can do in Monopoly Tycoon.

The many scenarios for single players give you ample time to use what you've learned from the tutorials, and there's three levels of difficulty for each scenario. Try playing each scenario in all three of the difficulty modes: Bronze Cup (the easiest), Silver Cup (medium), and Gold Cup (the hardest). Some of the beginning tutorials are fairly easy in all three difficulty modes, but you will eventually find one that you cannot get past, even at the Bronze Cup level, without a little creative thought.

You can build a wide selection of businesses in each block, from apartments (people gotta have a place to live), to businesses, including those available for shopping in daytime (such as clothing stores and markets) and those available for entertainment at nighttime (such as theaters and nightclubs).

Play long enough, and the game adds even more new stores to build. Check the blocks that have apartments with the "poll" tool, and find out what your residents want you to build. People will come to those businesses first. And you'll make money faster than your competition, which is how you win.

There are many characters from the Monopoly game, each with their own personality traits that can be used to your advantage in each scenario. Try playing a few of the single player games as all of the characters and see what I mean.

And there's still people on the Internet that participate in Monopoly Tycoon online. Once you learn a bit more than the basics, try a multiplayer online game. You'll need all of what you learned about the game to win a multiplayer game.

I can recommend this game to anyone that has a love of tycoon games. I like it, and at this price, you can't beat it.

"A nice twist to Monopoly", Great game...im a fanatic of the tycoon computer games...i find them to be very entertaining and they are a great way to pass the time....and real fast!!!....

Monopoly Tycoon is a good game...you can go for bronze, silver, and gold trophies for each scenario...

It has a very good tutorial within the game...it takes you through all of the features and you're ready to go once you go through the whole tutorial...

The first couple of scenarios are very short, but they serve to take you through the first steps so that you can get the hang of it...

Later on you play against up to 4 players, and it becomes harder but more exciting...the year doesnt end either...i had to go up to the year 2085 to win one time...so its great...the music is good too...

You get to create the store you want, set it at the price you want, build apartments, hotels, etc. Every couple of years more stores become unlocked and available for you to build...

An overall good game!


"This could have been a great game - with the right attitude.", It's an OK game. Not a great game, but OK. If you find it dirt cheap, it's worth the buy. $4.97 sounds about right (marked down from $49.95! What a bargain! lol).

This *could* have been a great game, but it appears to have been written by people who weren't happy writing it, and thought little of their customers during the process.

What paultry efforts they did put forth were primarily for their financial benefit. It seems as though they thought surfing the "Monopoly" wave would reap oceans of money automatically. I guess they found out that sometimes you crash. *wink*

From a customer POV:
If one does not have the proper graphics settings upon install, the game hangs on this big, black and white, SHOUTING IN ALL CAPS splash page about "YOU BETTER READ THOSE TERMS TO WHICH YOU AGREED WHILE YOU WAIT HERE NOT YET REALIZING YOU'RE HUNG DUE TO CONFIGURATION ISSUES" (paraphrased, of course). Even when you fix it, you still have to look at that page every time you start the game - It's a load-screen. *shakes head* What a slap in the face to a customer offering their hard-earned $49.95 MSRP.

On Playability: You'll learn to beat the AI in 20 plays or less. I'm being generous.

On ideals: Monopoly is a "multiplayer" game. That's why they give you so many little game pieces in the box. Frankly, the board game is better in myriad ways.

If all of the humans on MT aren't in the same local network - each with their own copy of the game - and want to play on the net, they have to pay even MORE money to **subscribe** to GameSpy. Sorry, but it's just not good enough to fork over the credit card number or buy multiple copies at $49.95. For 5 bucks I might buy another one, but it's definitely not worth a Gamespy subscription. Too bad. They could have done so much better.

This game would have done far better if they had just included 2 cds in the case so customers could play multiplayer across a lan with a family member. But like I said, they weren't about "customers".

All in all:
If you're expecting Monopoly, a great Tycoon game, or to reasonably play multiplayer, you'll be greatly disappointed at any price.

If you have a few minutes to an hour to kill, and would like to play an easy Monopoly-type game in stand alone, and can buy this game dirt cheap, then you'll like it.

If you can buy it dirt cheap, have a LAN at your home/office/dorm, and purchase multiple copies then maybe you'll like it even better.*

*I haven't actually bought a 2nd copy and tried tried a LAN. If you do, please post here on how it went. I've only checked out the Gamespy option, and declined.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Not Your Momma's Monopoly!!", If you are looking for an online version of the Parker Brother's Monopoly game; this ain't it. But, if you are looking for a really fun game with lots of challenging scenerios, then you'll enjoy this game. It is an imaginative The Sims meet Monopoly kind of thing. The graphics could be more sophisticated, but overall it is lots of fun and definitely not a waste of money. I would have liked to rate this a 4.5 because it is really better than the rating of 4 might make it seem.
