"Portability, Comfort, and Sound Quality for Cheap"
I am comparing these headphones to other products people may be interested in.

Shure SE110
Apple Ear Buds
Seinnheiser HD280s
Sony EX71
Skullcandy Ink'd

Pros:
More comfortable than ear buds or closed headsets
Extremely portable
Inexpensive
Excellent sound quality (recessed mids but excellent balance and richness for the most part)
Can hear the outside world

Cons:
Can hear the outside world, and they can hear you
Really need to be broken in for the sound quality to go from amazing to exquisite

On their own, the PX 100 headphones are extremely comfortable, fit well, collapse for portability, and sound amazing. They are relatively inexpensive and have a beautiful warm, boomy sound that was absolutely shocking when I first put them on. They are the best sounding headphones I have that I can wear comfortably.

These headphones have very similar sound quality to the HD280s but tend to make music more enjoyable. While the 280s are more analytical and balanced, the px 100s are more colorful and have more bass. They also do not highlight the highs so much that poor quality audio files are impossible to listen to. These headphones have half the impedance of the 280s which means you are getting richer sound in a more portable package for half the cost- with increased battery life on portables.

SE110s are slightly clearer and allow individual instrumentation to be heard better, but their sound quality does not create a balance (favoring the highs) that makes music enjoyable. They are also not comfortable. Both are good for classical music but I think the PX 100s are better because of their warm sound and deep lows, which really brings crescendos to a climactic finish where SE110s always leave the listener feeling cheated out of the final hit.

These have the same depth of bass response as the Sony 71s, but are more clear and are not as muddy in the mids and highs.

They are about as clear in the highs as apple ear buds (they are better than most people want to think) but also allow for clear bass and do not sound tinny and like someone pushed the right side of an equalizer to max.

The Ink'd ear buds are the closest in terms of overall sound to these and cost only a third of what the the PX 100s cost, but are less comfortable, do not stay in your ear, translate the sound of the cord, and only sometimes sound right (you have to have a perfect fit, which is nigh impossible)

These are my favorite pair and I only put them away when I *must* be isolated from my environment. They have an amazingly rich, warm sound which adequately plays any music I can throw at it. The clarity in the upper range with older music can lend to the bass overpowering some music. It isn't as noticeable as it is when my Klipsch 2.1 system plays the same song.

These are a no-brainer and I liked them more than the KSC75s, portapros, and bose triports I tried.

"Affordable and high quality, great for computer and iPod."
I'm extremely happy with the sound quality of these headphones (probably I wouldn't appreciate much better), and the price is fabulous. I use them with my laptop and iPod, listening to a variety of classical and popular music, and have found them excellent across the board.

As others have said, the fold-up procedure is a little cumbersome at first, but it's more than worth it to keep the headphones protected in the case when not being used.

"As good as the Bose Triports at a 1/4 the price!"
I bought these headphones about a year ago, and I love 'em. I needed a headset to replace my ipod earbuds---hated those. I did some research thinking I'd go Bose Tri-ports or JBL reference headphones. I stumbled on to Sennheizers at a Circuit City web site....I decided maybe $180 for Bose headphones at this time is not that good of an idea. I gambled on these and I 've never regretted it. The PX100's have excellent sound. Deep bass, great middles and great highs. These are also light enough to wear at work or while working out. I'm not the most gentle with 'em but they keep truckin'. When the time comes to replace these I will just get another set of PX100's!

"Good traditional type headphones for the gym"
I replaced a Philips set of in-ear headphones with these based on previous reviews and I'm happy with my choice. I like some Bass and these provide it (compared to the normal iPod buds for example). I find them easy to fold.

I have been using these while running on the treadmill for about 6 months now and they stay in place (the iPods fall out on me:-) ).

"Great headphones"
After buying an Ipod Nano, I wanted a pair of headphones that would sound great but easily fold up for portability. These headphones fit the bill.

Unfortunately for me, I can't wear ear buds or any kind of in-ear headphones as I find them uncomfortable and difficult to keep in place. At the same time, I didn't want bulky headphones that would be a pain to carry around. This purchase was the perfect answer!

The Sennheiser PX 100 sound crisp and clear and fold up easily, taking up little space when I travel. They're easy to work out in and carry around and the price I got was great. Buy them. You'll be glad you did!

What our customer's say!

"Just buy it!", These headphones are hands-down my favorite ever. The sound is surprisingly good, across the entire spectrum. Of course, the most surprising is the bass, which is ample. But really, the whole range sounds fantastic, with clear mids and highs and they never really get muddled, even with a lot going on acoustically.

I've owned a pair of these for about four years now, and they still impress me. I've replaced the ear pads once, because after four years of use, they ripped. I've never bothered to do something like that on a pair of headphones before -- I'd just throw them out. Not these.

Finally, the case is handy for some, useless for others. I don't know why you'd complain if you don't like it -- don't use it. However, for me, traveling to work every day with a laptop, the case has done a good job of protecting them, and folding them up to bring home is just another part of my daily routine. Only takes 30 seconds or so.

Overall, I can't rate them highly enough. You'd have to spend a lot more to find a better product.

"Great headphones for the money", Love these headphones. Right away after I purchased them as a gift for my husband, he came home saying "those headphones are great"...I had to confess the price was less than $40. He is very picky about sound quality so I know the headphones are a good quality. He said, now we have to get you a pair..no more using the cheap ones from the airlines. So, we ordered another pair for me. The only problem is getting used to folding them correctly to put back in the case. Great deal!

"retired exectivte", on of the best for an inexspedive head phone.i am a gadage person and like looking for the perfect wave have been looking for the perfect h/p's.these are good for sleeping, running,in workshop etc.

(i'm retired and can not type or tksm !!spell, so clean tha above up.)

"great sound!", I bought it for my son who is 17,
he said the sound quality is great, and he love this headphone.

"Sennheiser PX 100 Collapsible Headphones", These headphones are convenient to use, comfortable on ears, and deliver melodious sound without much of hiss. However, the utility of the set will greatly improve if it includes a volume adjuster -- so one does not have to go back and forth to iPod to adjust volumne.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"The One", I would hazard a guess that this is the most reviewed headphone on Amazon, by far (700+ and counting to date). At the risk of overkill, I feel compelled to add my voice to the chorus of praise.

I have used this for over a month consistently and I think I know its characteristics fairly well by now. Simply put, the PX 100 is the best bang for the buck that you can find (I paid less than 40 USD on Amazon) in portable headphones, if you care at all about sound quality of the music you listen to. Besides the 100 I also have a Grado 60, Senns 212, 280, 555, 580 a few IEM's such as Etymotic and Senns 300. Right now, the px 100 is my favorite pair of cans of them all, not because it sounds the best (the Senns 580 takes the honor for that) but because it is the most well balanced and does it for less, sometimes way less, than all the rest. It is very transparent, has lots of air, with reasonably tight bass, neutral mids and open trebles. It will sound great on all kinds of music (I listen to mostly classical and acoustic jazz but also some pop)straight out of the box, although it does benefit from break ins like all headphones, and is very comfortable to wear. The hard plastic carrying case is also neat and durable, though folding the phones does take a little practice. Bottom line, if you are looking for a pair of open air cans, you cannot do better for the price.

A four bagger, no, make that a grand slam, for Sennheiser.

"Best Portable Headphones I've ever heard", This is an early review. I've had these for about a week. First off, I would not consider myself an audiophile. I've never listened to $300+ headphones or anything. I have owned a lot of different headphones in the $20 to $50 range and these are by far the best sounding phones I've ever used. They are very comfortable too. I use them in my home and office. The open style is good so I can hear my wife when she needs to get my attention or when my kids wake up from a nap. In the office someone just needs to speak to get my attention and the best thing is then I'm not disturbing them (I'm not in a cubicle). That is the hitch though. If you are somewhere noisy like a coffee shop you're going to hear everything around you and everyone else is going to hear your music. I use some Phillips ear buds that I like for those settings. I am very happy with the sound quality of these headphones. The bass isn't overpowered, the highs and mids are clear and I've notice as they're breaking in the depth of the sound is improving. Highly recommended if you're not looking for something that will keep outside noise.

"Sennheiser PX-100 Headphones", My second pair - taking new pair to work.
Never, never had earphones this good ... and I've
purchased plenty !!!
I'm a Bose fanatic - these are just as good !

"Took 4-5 years to break them", After a string of headphones that sounded fine but broke easily, I got these about 4-5 years ago. After a little break-in, the sound was great -- enough bass, but not overwhelming, and crystal clear on the higher end. These headphones can pump out volume -- hooked up to a laptop you could practically use them as speakers. The open-ear design isn't for everyone, but for me it was ideal -- I can walk through New York with the volume up, but still hear enough of my surroundings to be safe.

But, sadly, after 4-5 years of daily, rough use (often 10-12 hours a day, through all kinds of weather), I've finally managed to wear a hole through the cord, killing one of the speakers. But it took YEARS of hard daily use to do it, so I'll gladly lay down another couple of bucks for another set.

"Compact, Excellent Sound", I bought these headphones to keep at work and to take on short trips. I was not expecting a whole lot from headphones in this price range but have been very pleasantly surprised. They sound really good and product very good bass for a small headphone set. They are very compact and fold up to fit in tiny spaces. If you are looking form something compact that still sounds good I highly recommend them.
