"Real CSI show!"
It's just like the real program on TV! I felt like I'm part of the team! It's no graphic play, but definitely entertaining! I bought the 2nd edition, too!

"Awesome Game!"
I love this game! They need to make more CSI games because they are just so fun! I recommend it to fans of the show, and to people who like "investigation" type games.

"No "playing" involved - just repetitive mouse clicking."
The show CSI fascinates me, but the game does not live up to the show.

A brief description - there are 5 cases. Each time you are partnered with a different character from the show - Grissom, Sara, Nick, Warrick, and Catherine. You pick from a list of crime-related locations to visit, and you move the cursor around the area and when it turns green, you can examine closer for evidence. Your partner tells you how you should collect the evidence.

Talking to suspects involves clicking on a set list of questions with no chance of error (you cannot ask a "wrong" question that will lead the interrogation down a different path, etc. You will always be able to get the information you need out of them.)

You take the evidence back to Greg, who will instantly tell you what you need to know. Occasionally you use the microscope or computer for print searches, which will automatically give you matches if available.

When you have enough evidence, the CSIs spell out their theories (with brief dramatization movies to show you) as to how they think the crime happened. I personally believe that they sometimes make unrealistically grand theories based on the evidence you found at that point.

When you've found enough evidence, you are able to arrest the suspect and the case is over and reviewed by Gil based on whether or not you missed any evidence or used any hints from your partner. You can then look at some bonus material (character/location design sketches) and move on to the next case.

-------------------------

As you can see, there really is no "playing" involved - all you do is click the mouse over and over again. Rinse and repeat a couple dozen times, and your case is over pretty quickly. It is very mindless, as you do not need to do any thinking whatsoever to come up with questions or to put together evidence.

The frustration kicks in when you miss that tiny little area where your arrow turns green. I've been "stuck" a few times simply because I overlooked a small portion of the screen to click on. It's true that a real-life CSI can miss little details too, but at least they have the freedom to walk around and take close looks at anything - here, you are stationary and can just turn left and right until your pointer clicks that magic spot.

The graphics are not *bad*, but sub par by today's standards. The characters are a stiff and choppy, and most don't really look like the guys from CSI at all. The voice acting is below average. Good TV actors do not = good voice actors.

The crime storylines are average. There were a few twists that I didn't predict, but overall the storylines are not memorable.

That all being said, I did play through all 5 cases and I am now on case 1 of the sequel: CSI - Dark Motives. Dark Motives has better graphics and a difficulty setting (such as turning off that green arrow indication) so you can do a little more work yourself - but after 30 minutes of playing it, I can't say that it is any more fun than the original, and I will probably quit now so I don't regret wasting my time.

-----------------------

Bottom-line - if a friend of yours owns this game, and you're a big CSI fan, check it out briefly for kicks. Otherwise, I cannot recommend buying it for a few hours of boring mouse clicking.

"fun and not too intensive, relaxing too"
This is the 1st computer game i have played in several years.. No time, too busy playing golf, however, broke foot will give time. The game was sent to me as a gift. I really enjoyed it, If i had to pay over $30 maybe i would be a bit dissapointed, only because each mission only took about an hour, (the last game i played was MYST) im not into puzzles too much) The graphics weree fine, I Love csi, law and order etc on Tv, so i was curious how these games would be to play.. I would recommenend this game to anyone who doenst have alot of time "cracking Complicated puzzles" that takes a genious to solve. This game kept my interest and i felt I was actually acomplishing something. 5 cases, each about 1 hour to solve and I liked the 5th one because it tied several of the other cases together, So if you like forenics and searching for stuff in rooms, putting all the pieces together in a short time span, this game is for you... I just purchased the second csi game and look forward to playing it.

"CSI- Crime Scene Investigation"
If you have played CSI - Miami this is a very redundant game. It is slow moving. Too much describing what to do. You almost have to follow their pattern to solving the crime. Not alot of lab equipment to use. I hated it. BIG waste of money.

What our customer's say!

"this was a present for a 10yr old", My son is having fun with this game. It was shipped to my home in a timely matter. I ordered this right before christmas and it got here before I could start to worry about it. THanks

"CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION", This game is awesome. I really liked it. i like being the CSI. It is a real cool game.

"CSI for begining gamers", I am a retired person just learning to use the computer for games. I tried a few of the new ones and couldn't do them. Very frustrating. This game is easy enough to follow and solve, yet not too easy to be considered boring. I wish that there were more games on this level.

"CSI ", I have not been able to play this game very much because I am stuck in the second crime and they do not have sufficient help to get me unstuck so consequently I have played it very little.

"Entertaining Overall, but Needs Some Improvements", There are 5 cases included in this game. The first few are a breeze, with the first almost like a tutorial. Each cases takes about 30 minutes to an hour (or a little over) to complete. The last case is the hardest and ties into a few of the other cases, which is a nice challenge and a sweet twist.

Basically, throughout each case, you have to examine different locations and crime scenes and pick up any evidence that you find. Then you go to the lab and either ask Greg to analyze the evidence for you or you use the computer or microscope to search/compare fingerprints, tire treads, molds, and threads etc. You interrogate people and ask Al at the morgue if there's a dead body involved and Jim at the Law Office to get warrants for anything.

The problem with this is that there's not much interaction going on. You are, at no time, in imminent danger and there is no time limit. You simply find things and ask others to examine them or use automatic computers to do it for you. It's not a hard game. The only challenge is finding all of the evidence. If you don't find all of the evidence, your evaluation score at the end of each case goes down. Players can challenge themselves by replaying each case until they have achieved "Master Status" -- which is really the only challenge this game provides.

So in other words, it's a fun challenge for a few hours (or days, depending on how many breaks you want to take), but a little short and too straightforward.

Some other downsides:

- It's annoying to have to switch between the 3 discs as you enter/exit the game and switch cases.
- Whenever you go to the lab, you have to wait for Greg to turn around before you can move or do anything. It's only a few seconds, but it's annoying when you're eager to get something done.
- There are some bugs in the game and it lags sometimes, even though my computer is pretty decent and I have played other games on here before.

Aside from all of that, the graphics are pretty good and the interface is user friendly. Rookies won't struggle with the game and advanced players will have fun killing some time -- it just doesn't last forever.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Kinda boring", This was an alright game, I'm a non-gamer though and found it rather boring and breezed through it in one day. (Its rated mature, but a 5 year old could get probably do it easily enough)

The graphics are great, but I was hoping I would have to type my own questions, get my own evidence etc. and have clues available to me if I really got stuck. I lost alot of points because I would solve the crime too fast.. what up with that?

"Fun, but TOO Easy!", Although I do not watch the show CSI, I am a Criminal Justice student and after playing the demo, the game intrigued me, so I bought it.

Good News:
its fun, I'm told it's quit real to life in terms of the TV show/characters by people who do watch CSI.

Good (not Great) graphics

Few glitches.

The Bad:

It's TOO EASY! I took me maybe 20 minutes on each case, and there are only 5!

When you run your cursor around, it highlights objects that are "important", then the guy w/you tell you what to do, cast it, dust it, etc. There is no challenge, it would be a lot better w/o your partner giving you instructions, and taking points off your final score if you say tried to use the wrong tool.

Final Line:
If you are looking for a fun, easy game, you like CSI, buy it.

If you are looking for a challenging game, solving crimes/cases, etc. it's not for you.

"Great Game!", Great game it realy follows the tv show with finding evidence. The game is easy to figure out and theres even a tutorial to help you get started on how to play the game which is great. The challenge is to get the highest score possible on every case.

"Fun for CSI fans", For the fans of CSI this game is a hoot. Collecting evidence to give to Greg is a lot of fun. Some of the things about the game are frustrating, however. One is that if you follow a difficult route to solving the crime the computer will not let you move forward to bring in people for questioning or collect DNA evidence. Another is that it seems to have a hiccup when you leave a game (and save it) it goes back to the very beginning when you log on again. This means you have to go through each game to get to the one you want to finish. Still, enjoyable. The game moves quickly and you'll be left wanting more.
