"YES! Now this is a Game!"
This game is sure to become a classic!
Amazing "and award winning" gameplay, gorgeous graphics, and a fantastic setting make this game a must have!
The gameplay is very impressive, and it's functoionality peaked my eyebrow. The character animations are very nice.

The game is driven by point and click action with the mouse, which was done very nicely. A real work of gaming art. The storyline is wonderful and reignites the greenwood tales of old.
This game will be considered playable for decades!

It was released in 2002 and I just go it now in 2004! Two years old and I loved it! Plus It's on the brink of 2005 right now and I am still impressed with this game! It's style, graphics, and playability will make it hard to think of this game as outdated.

I was happily surprised at the low system requirements, which really makes this a perfect game for laptop/notebook computers without taxing their systems!
And look at the price! I mean, you just can't get games this good for the price! It's fun, it looks good, and you'll want more when it's done.
If your looking for a game to buy, get this game.
I hope Spellbound Studios makes more games just like this one!
The only thing I would like to see in a future game done like this is the ability to have add-on adventure/scenarios and a user creation scenario package. That would make this type of game all the more sweeter and really would be a perfect compliment to it.

"Too bad it is over..."
This is one of those games where in the end you wish it had just a few more levels.

This game is pretty unusual in its gameplay. At first, it just seems frustratingly difficult, but once you get through the first level and understand what this game is all about, it is very entertaining. The story of course is well known, so you won't be overly surprised in the end. However, I am very pleased with how the story is integrated.

Unfortunately, the game gets a bit repetitive, and I found myself wishing the game would force me to use different characters for different missions.

If I had to rate this game with a percentage like many magazines do, I would probably rate it somewhere around 85%. However, I did decide to give it 5 stars here. Not because the game is the best game I ever played, but because I want to give this game a 100% buy recommendation.

"Excellent! Fun! Beautiful graphics!"
this game is fun and with wonderful graphics. there are 8 locations: York, Nottingham, Leicester, Lincoln, Derby, and three forest ambush junctions. you play as all the characters. all characters have special abilities and weapons. you can play hours in a row with this fun and exciting game. exciting + cheat codes = loads of fun.

"Fun through the whole game"
I got this game for Christmas and so I decided to try it out. From the beginning I just loved it!

The NPCs are amazingly realistic. For example: if you knock out a guard, one of his fellow guards might hear you and attack you OR he might flee in terror OR he might go and alert a commander who's patrolling the city OR he might wake up his friend and ask him what happened. If they alert the commander you will hear him say "Guards, guards" or "But he's dead" and he will point exactly in your direction.

The combat system is not like any other game I have played. Usually you just click on a guy and you attack him. In Robin Hood when you click on a guy you can draw a line in a circle or to the right and it does different attacks. There are around 8 different attacks. If you select several guys and draw a line they will all do the same attack. You can also jump on top of buildings and shoot the guards with your arrows while only their archers and crossbowmen can hurt you.

The graphics are very detailed for a 2D game and you can hide behind almost anything so that the guards wont see you.

In Sherwood Stutely has made a camp for you and after you rescue him and his friends you can go there. There are many things you can make your men do such as train on melee or archery, heal themselves, cook food, make leather purses to bribe the guards, make nets to throw on guards...

Some of the missions are a bit easy like the first ambush ones but of course im only at the start of the game (rescuing Will Scarlet).
However those missions are really fun because you can lead the guards into the traps that are set up.

I think this one of the best games I have ever played and I recommend it to all.

"Robin Hood is addicting"
Robin Hood has got to be the most addictive game I have personally ever played. After what seems like five minutes, you find out you've been playing for hours. This game's 3D effects are spectacular, and the music creates the perfect atmosphere for the game.

What our customer's say!

"Deserves to be the Commodore Amiga DOTC successor!!", WARNING: This game is addictive!
If you ever played Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown from Cinemaware on the Commodore Amiga, you know how important the games 'feel' or playability is to your enjoyment of the game.
Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood should be the successor to that great game. It is VERY playable, and I was really sorry when I completed it, because it was over. It is one of the few games I played without cheat codes or cheat programs because it was possible to win without cheating and it was a game that was simply fun to play (what a concept eh? A fun game!)
The graphics are beautiful and draw you deeper into the game. The music is appropriate for each activity, and also adds to the game.
One of the most important features of the game is that it is very smooth, with no lag time between your control and the characters action. The graphics never pause (or jerk) due to a lack of programming forethought and optimization. So the game is very responsive, which is very important to me. I don't want to be frustrated by my games.
Speaking of frustration, I never found any bugs or glitches in the game. The game seems to be very well made.
The only found minor annoyances. The gameplay became somewhat routine, but the variety in play fields made up for this. The same comments over and over from the characters got on my wifes nerves.
I HIGHLY recommend this game!!!

"Takes you back", This game is all about tactical strategy and how to make fools out of the nobles. The best part about this game is when you are in combat your sword moves like your mouse! And Robin Hood is such an great main character. The difference between this and other RTS games is that you don't have a "base" during the mission... and there are multiple paths through each mission. But it is SUCH a breath of fresh air after playing Starcraft-like (or Age of Empires) style game engines again and again.

"Great game of strategy", This game allows you to compete on three different levels while also challenging yourself.

Recommended for a great way to relax before bed!!!

"Strength or stealth? Your choice", Let me start off by saying that Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood Forest is an excellent game. It cleverly combines stealth and combat, and you can always choose whether to take to the sword and the bow or to sneak past the guards to complete your goal. And the AI is very realistic. For example, suppose you just killed a guard, you walk away and leave the corpse there, and another guard comes to the scene. Chances are he'll run to the nearest sergeant and tell him about the body. Then the sergeant will organize a group of solders and send them to investigate the body. If they see you then they'll do one of two things
1: they'll attack you if they think they can take you.
2: if they don't think they can take you, they'll run away and report your location to the nearest sergeant.

And yes, I know I said that you could take to the sword if you wanted to. But it's not a good idea to do it too many times both because if you simply kill everyone in your path and leave a trail of bodies behind then the enemy could track you pretty easily. And also because the more lives you spare the more merry men you get, and you need merry men to produce materials at your workshops and to replace casualties.

In this game you have all the main characters such as Will Scarlet, Maid Marian, Little John, and of course Robin Hood himself, and more! But besides them, you have nobodies who serve as your minions. There are three types of regular merry men.

There's the mustachioed merry men [my personal favorite] who are armed with a bow and a sword, they're good in melee combat but in my opinion you should train them in the bow more then the sword. After all, a few well-trained archers could turn the tide of many battles, plus they can tie up unconscious enemy solders and they can use their shields to protect themselves and comrades from enemy arrows.

Then there's the aggressive merry men [my personal second favorite] these men are the most bloodthirsty of the regular merry men. Sure, they can revive unconscious allies and heal their friends but they can also murder unconscious enemy solders. They're small, but don't let their size fool you! Just one of these guys could probably take on about half a dozen of the weaker solders such as swordsmen all at once in melee combat armed with only a pitchfork! All in all, these guys are probably the best in melee combat, and they're always disappointed if they don't manage to kill their opponent.

And finally, the strong merry men.[my personal least favorite] These are great brutes armed with a club who can sling an unconscious or dead man over his shoulder and carry him. But despite their size they're lousy fighters. Personally, I just use them for labor in Sherwood forest.

Bottom line is, if you're used to fast arcade games where you basically just punch the buttons and see what happens, this game is not for you. But if you like strategy, stealth, and combat mixed with a famous story, buy this game! You won't regret it!

"TOOOO HARD ON SOME LEVEL", I PLAY THIS GAME AND GOT STUCK ON ONE LEVEL I CAN'T BEAT IT ITS THE PART WHEN U CAN'T KILLED ANY SOLDGER OR U WILL LOSE IF U KILLED ONE OR MORE, GOT BORED PLAYING THAT LEVEL AND QUIT PLAYING IT, IT WAS ENTERTAINING ANYWAY, I GOT A GOOD COMPS SO THEY MOVE FAST, THE MOST DEADLY SOLDGER IS THE ARCHER I GOT KILLED 90% BY THEM, THE SECOND IS THE KNIGHTS, AND THE SWORDSMAN AND OTHER IS EASY NEVER GET KILLED BY THEM.

"The Legend of Sherwood", This is the most amazing game I've ever played. I wasn't into commandos, but am now seriously considering it:)

The gameplay is excellent and the graphics though not the best are quite good.

"A Tres Cool Game!", This game is so good!! The gameplay is amazing easy and funny. The guards's remarks all ways crack me up. the graphics are good and the story (although not SO accurate) is excellent and the characters are almost real. I finished the game in sorrow!
But if its so goooood why did I give it 4 stars? because on my old and new computer it always flickered until i pressed ctrl-alt-delete and go back again. and sometimes it freezes and just closes for no apparent reason. the most logical explanation is that (although it suggests otherwise on the System Rrequirements) it is not very compatible with Windows XP. My computer is a Pentium 4, 120 GB, 2.66 Ghz, so the like I said the most logical explanation is its compatibility with XP.

"Where legends come to life - or at least the PC.", Ever wish you had the chance to save the damsel in distress? Does the thought of robbing the rich attract you? Want to hang out with Robin Hood or better yet be Robin Hood? Well then your dream has come true with this game.

After the easy to follow installation, which worked on 98, 2000 and XP without flaw, you are ready to begin the challenge of taking on Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham and saving England for King Richard.

You have plan out the strategy and find the men, recruit those that will help you, run the campaign and at the same time make sure you don't get caught.

The game is fairly fun to play and easy to follow and with a little work easy to master. What I found a little disappointing was the user manual, which lacks real help although the website seemed easy to follow along.

The graphics are above average and the speed is okay, I think you should have more people to choose from when creating you "band of merry men", but that's what updates are for.

Overall the T rating is appropriate and I can see a sequel coming out soon.

"YALORH (yet another legend of robin hood)", This is a really well done game for the PC that requires very little hi-performance hardware, yet looks beautiful and performs its functions with little or no lag on low speed pentiums. Some people on the various forums have reported system hangs and crashes. I have had only one 'hang' at the very end of the game, but it has not repeated after replaying the game twice. Of course, Robin Hood IS just a legend, so pinning the authors down on errors in the games history elements isn't really relevent, however they begin their manual with the 'real-life beginnings' of Robin Hood, which have some mistakes. They claim King Richard left his brother John in charge of England when he left for the crusades, he in fact made his brother John swear he would not even enter England until Richard returned. They have William Longchamp listed as Prince John's right-hand man, when he was the one King Richard left in charge of England to make sure John stayed out of England.

If you can get by the historical anomalies though, its a very entertaining game that can be very challenging, or very easy to play depending on the difficulty level selected. There are a number of artifacts to collect, and if you get them all, there is a surprise at the end of the game, but I won't spoil it here.

There are 17 missions in all, with 5 castle maps and 3 sherwood forest maps. It rewards the player for NOT killing enemies, but either knocking them out or going around them. Something unique in the world of PC games these days. There is not a lot of re-playability to this game, there are a finite number of artifacts and once you get through the missions they can become repetative (especially the sherwood forest missions), but the castle missions make up for them, the artwork is excellent even though you are limited to a 2D environment.

Overall this is a lot of fun to play, but has some limitations that can be frustrating at times, so I gave it 4 stars.

"robin hood is back", I saw an ad for this game and at first glance thought 'wow'. I have only played the demo but I am thirsty for more. The graphics may only be 2d but they are gorgeous to look at. The gameplay is superb. Each character has his/her own unique skills you can use to get through each mission. The replay value here is enormous, since there is no one way to finish a mission. I found myself replaying the demo until I was salivating. I will buy this game as soon as I can. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of squad based tactical games.
