Others say...
"BEST YET" This is one of the best Christmas CD's I have purchased. All the artists do a great job singing some of these old classics. I especially liked Third Days rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear?". I loved and so do all my friends. Have a Merry Christmas.
"Nice mix" There is a nice mix of styles and songs on this CD. The only disappointment is some of the more secular/traditional songs, which you can get on other CDs done better by other people. But it's definately worth having.
"Excellent Christmas CD" Owning all the Wow CDs but the Gospel collections, this CD was definitely not going to be staying on the shelves in the store. I picked it up and brought it home along with a few other Christmas CDs that day. I loved it!
If you are one of those people who gets tired every year of hearing Gene Autry's exact version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer sung by Burl Ives, Garth Brooks, etc. then you will welcome the different versions of the songs that are available on this CD set.
However, as previously stated, if you like to hear the same exact songs you grew up with sung the same exact way by a different artist, then this is not for you. Go pick up a different Christmas CD for your collection and save your money. Myself personally, I need different versions and new songs.
"A very refreshing change" I don't understand the negative reviews on this one. If you are looking to traditional arrangements of all of these songs, there are thousands of other CD's to pick up. Stop and think for a second, "Would you honestly expect Audio Adrenaline to do a traditional version of Little Drummer Boy?" I can honestly say that is is one Christmas album that will NOT collect dust between January and November, and the ONLY other Christmas album I can say that about is Vince Guaraldi's Charlie Brown Christmas. Don't hesitate for a second on this one IF you are looking for the songs you love but want to hear them done in a different way.
"WOW Christmas" I am very disappointed in my purchase of this CD. I wish I would have read the other reviews on Amazon before purchasing. Why can't the popular Christian singers just sing the songs as they are instead of messing them all up with their own "creativity"! I actually bought 2 copies of the CD, one for me and one for my sister in law as a Christmas gift. I will be returning the one I haven't opened yet, for my sister-in-law, and get a different CD for her. I wish I could return mine as well! A waste of $20, which is what I paid at Best Buy.

What our customer's say!
"Disappointing", I love Christian music and I love Christmas music, so I thought this album would be the perfect combination for the holiday season and I couldn't wait to pop it in and usher in the yule tide. I was sorely disappointed. I can appreciate the effort to update traditional music and put a fresh spin on classics, but most of these songs were nearly unrecognizable and that's not what I want in my Christmas music. I want to spend the season listening to beloved favorites and sing my heart out to them for the month or so that we have together...Not scratching my head and trying to figure out the music. I was also surprised by the R&B flavor to a lot of the songs. Again, nothing wrong with that genre of music, just not what I expect and find comforting in my Christmas music.
"Inspiring and joyful Christmas CD", Thanks again to the musicians who did the songs for this WoW CD. I always look forward to different variations of Christmas songs!! It's nice to have the variety that WoW CD's offer. They're a definate inspiration and wonderful alternative to some of the music out there!
"Even my Granddaughter loves this CD", Yes, even my seven year old granddaughter loves to listen to this Christmas CD. I like the diversity of the songs and the entertainers. I loved the way some of the old standards were done, especially Emmanuel, Let It Snow, and Away in the Manger. Plus there are some songs I had never heard before and they were good. But, the only thing I didn't like was, some of the old standards were (I felt) were terrible. Like Do You Hear What I Hear, Joy to the World, and Little Drummer Boy. But my granddaughter liked them.
"Some Very Good Songs, Some Not So Good", This is a collection of mostly familiar Christmas songs done with a modern twist.
While I didn't really like several of the arrangements here, there were also many others that were very good. Due to the diversity of musical tastes, this collection has something that virtually everyone will like. On the other hand, most will find some that they do not appreciate as much.
Some really good arrangements were done by the following artists: Point of Grace, 4Him, Nichole C. Mullen, Mark Schultz and Nichole Nordeman, Kathy Mattea, Third Day, Jennifer Knapp, MercyMe, Jars of Clay, and Rebecca St. James.
Overall, this is a worthwhile CD set.
"Wow!!!", This is one of my favourite Christmas music collections, along with Donna Summer's classy 'Christmas Spirit'. The name really says it all, wow!!!
Ranging in style from jazzy treatments, to alternative rock to urban, this is a collection of perrennial favourites redone (and in some cases drastically redone) by most of contemporary Christian music's best. This might not appeal to some but I love the different treatments.
Disc one has the swinging jazzy treatment of 'Winter wonderland' by Avalon featuring the tight harmonies they are known for. 'Strange way to save the world' is a beautiful ballad by 4Him with lyrics about God's choice to send a baby in a manger to save us all. There is the melodramatic 'Emmanuel' by Michael W Smith, the stunning acoustic treatment of 'O come, o come, Emmanuel' by Nicole C Mullen (check out her brilliant 'Christmas in black and white' CD), the celebratory 'Hallelujah' by Soulful Celebration, the soul/gospel choir sound of Kirk Franklin's 'The night that Christ was born, and the awesome 'Mary did you know' by Kathy Mattea, with lyrics asking Mary if she knew the baby she was carrying would one day walk on water and be the saviour of the whole world.
Disc 2 is more rock laced and edgier; 'Do you hear what I hear' by Third Day, an acoustic 'What child is this' by MercyMe, the rocky 'Little drummer boy' by Audio Adrenaline, a soulful rendition of 'O little town of Bethlehem' by Out of Eden, complete with a much needed prayer for peace on earth, the driving rock/pop of 'Angels we have heard on high' by ZOEgirl, 'O little town of Bethlehem' by Caedmon's call, a wonderful slow shuffling performance of 'Christmastime is here' by Sixpence none the richer, the acoustic 'God rest ye merry gentlemen' by Jars of clay featuring excellent harmonising, and the hip hop 'This Christmas (joy to the world)' by TobyMac.
If you are looking for a beautiful, experimental collection of Christmas music with the message of Christmas told, this is the CD for you.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"The worst Christmas CD out there!", I thought I'd heard everything, but WOW is absolutely the worst Christmas CD out there. Kathy Mattea's inspired "Mary Did You Know?" was my reason for buying, but it's the only track worth a listen. Every other song is a weird pop/jazz/soul arrangement most listeners would find jarring, cacophonous and irreverent. Don't waste your money.
"A Great Collection of Christmas Music", I love this CD. As you can see some of the other people who wrote these reviews didn't like it as much as I did. Even though they are a different arrangement, give them a chance. I know most of these bands from listening to KLOVE (a christian contemparary station). When one of these people heard Christian Artists they probably thought Southen Gospel, just plain gospel or something else because I have heard of all of the artists. If you listen to any of the contemparary artists you should get this CD, you'll be glad you did.
"WoW! It's a Christmas Album...", I'm a major fan of Christmas music, so it only took a passing glance at the track list for the WoW Christmas album to know I needed to buy it. I'm so glad I'm such an impulsive buyer! Otherwise I would have read the negative reviews here at Amazon and hesitated, and missed out on the best Christmas album in my family's collection. From the opening track by Avalon, I was hooked. I never would have imagined such a diverse collection of songs and artists working as well as they do. The first disc is a more traditional with softer, more old-fashioned pop versions of classic Christmas tunes, like Jaci Velasquez's "Let It Snow" the amazing "O Come, O Come Emmanual" by Nicole C. Mullen and the modern classic "Breath Of Heaven". There is even a beautiful version of the classical piece "Ave Maria" by 16-year-old Racheal Lampa But when we go to the second disc, that's when the fun begins! Out Of Eden's "O Little Town Of Bethleham" is as close the traditional as we get on this half. From the rap/rock hybrid that is TobyMac's "This Christmas" to an awesome version of "Do You Hear What I Hear" by Third Day, we are in for a Rockin' good time. Sixpence None The Richer is amazing on the "Charlie Brown Christmas" favorite, "Christmastime Is Here" and ZOEgirl's "Angel We Have Heard On High" is sure the make y'all wanna sing along, and dance too! And before we decry the rockin' versions of these songs for not focusing on the reason for the season, notice that 14 out of 15 of the second disc tracks are Christmas songs about Christ, as oppossed to 13 out of 16 on the more traditional disc one. Of course the album isn't perfect, I would have left out Plus One's terrible "Prayer For Ever Year" and replaced Kathy Mattea's version of "Mary, Did You Know" with the superior Mark Lowry version. And where is a track from Crystal Lewis's superb "Holiday!" album? But don't let that stop you from buying this album, it's Wow-licious.
"somewhat disappointed", I bought this CD last week and listened to it and I was very disapponited. Even though I know of the Christain proformers on this CD. I was expecting the Christmas music to be sung in it's traditional way. But instead it was sung in a form of jazz and some rap and what got me the most is some of the Christmas music sung on this CD was not the Christmas music I have been growing up on. The words were the same, but the meledy was different and that ruined it for me. It made me put it up for the rest of the season. I will probably trade this in for another Christmas CD.
"Love Christian Rock? This is for you!", If you love the Christian top 40, you will love this. All the great artists come together to give each song a revival. Some sound traditional, others a little more "pop"py. If you've grown to love the music though, you will thoroughly enjoy this. I can turn on our Christian station here in Jacksonville and 9 times out of 10 love what I hear. If that's you, buy this and enjoy. Merry Christmas!!!
