"Working Good for Me"
First of all... the price and quality are superb.

I have owned mine for about nine months now enduring vacations in Austria and Mexico City. I have had absolutely no problems with my photos (regardless of the countless times I've erased single/all photos as well as formatted the card).

You will be pleased with this SD card.

"How many pictures will it store?"
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Lexar Media 256MB Secure Digital Card, like most 256MB cards, will store on average 284 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 213 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 128 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 102 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 80 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

"Treo 600 Essential"
I purchased this card for use in my Treo 600. It has functioned perfectly, allowing me to save various types of programs and files for use in my Treo. I have not had any problems with the lock feature, as other users have reported. I recommend this card to anyone who needs storage space in compact form.

"The slide lock key is too weak"
I bought it last april and i didnt realize that slide lock key was too weak, and now I try to write data but a message is about the data is secure (locked).

"Dependable", I have had this card for over 4 years now with extensive use. Originally in a Palm, now in my digital camera. Never had a problem with it.

"Lexar lock breaks after a few uses.", I have had the card for two weeks and no matter what position the card lock is in it won't unlock. So I cannot remove the old pictures. I bought a defective one. Never had problems with Lexar before, I think the quality control on this model has been poor.

"AFter 2 years and still counting", Bought this in Amazon in 2003 and have just written a review now (2005).
Been using this with my Palm PDA and in some instances as a flash drive with an adaptor that I bought.
After 2 years of full service, it has not given me any problems, no errors and still doing its service now as my flash drive (SD+usb reader).

"Lexar rock solid as always", i have a 128 Mb SD card and went with lexar based on prior experience and it was worth it this card is made in taiwan and now comes in a small holder for the card

"not found problem yet", it works find in my MPX200 cell phone and R707 camera. The speed seems right for usb2.0. never had a problem since I bought it in Feb. 2004.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Stopped working after 4 days", After a couple of days of it working fine, it just crapped out. I was uploading songs to it when I got an error message. It wouldn't detect it when I tried to format it and did not detect it in the G drive. So I'm getting it replaced and hopefully the next one will be better. I guess the previous poster was right, because it was made in Taiwan, not Japan. So I don't know, maybe the Japanese ones are fine, but I'd avoid the Taiwan ones. Which is what Amazon shipped me...

"Go with another brand", While the lexar works fine, the write protect slider tends to become loose, and can cause you to be unable to write. While this can be fixed with a little tape, it is likely better just to get another brand.

"Read-only lock problem", I had the same problem as one of the other reviewers below: The read-only lock on the card I received also stuck out too far. Whenever I inserted the card in my Kodak dx6490 camera the lock was pushed back, and I got an error message saying that the card was protected. I tried to make the lock stick to the unlock position in every imaginable way, and finally reaching a point of desperation, I pushed the lock to the unlocked position and broke it off. That didn't work: The card still appears to be locked, and is entirely useless.

This situation got me stuck in Belize with nothing but the small internal memory of my camera, and I had to buy a couple of very overpriced 32MB cards while I was there.

I can't recommend buying this product at all.

"Very Fast and reliable", I bought this memory card to use it with my digital camera but then I bought a memory card reader and I've been using it to store music and videos, too.

The memory has been very fast and reliable and I have never taken as many pictures to full 256Mb. But for the media, sometimes I found 256Mb to be insufficient. Sometimes I think a 512Mb card would have been better for my needs.

There's a similar SD/MMC model which is packed with a portable reader (key chain) and you should take a look at it because it seems very tempting.

"read only lock problem", The card I received had a read-only lock switch that stuck out too far. Any time I inserted into my Palm Tungsten E or a separate SD reader it would push the switch to lock, preventing write access. The card does not resemble the photo. Mine was blue plastic with a yellow lock switch, not black on black as pictured. If they are farming out manufacturing then the quality control is slipping, since this should have been noticed.
