Others say...
"Great Wristrest" I got this new mouse pad/wrist rest when I got my new trackball mouse. I had read the reviews and I was impressed by the reviews that said the gel did not compress like the foam types.
So far, my expectations have been met. The wrist rest is comfortable and it does not compress like my old foam one did.
Being as I use a trackball, I did have one problem. My trackball mouse slid all over the pad when I pressed a button. I would expect that to be good news for people who use the traditional roll around type of mouse.
My solution was to buy a set of those round non-slip jar openers for the kitchen. One of them under my mouse completely solved the slipping problem.
I like this mouse pad/wrist rest so much that I bought a gel pad wrist rest for my keyboard. They are both great!
"Best mouse pad I have ever used" I felt the need to write a review after the comments of others saying such things as it doesn't work with my optical mouse, and its to small. First off I have used this with several mice moth optical and otherwise from a two dollar useless mouse at work to $90 logitech mice, they all work fine. As to the comments about it being to small it is the same size as almost every other mouse pad on the market, perhaps you need to learn to use a mouse and adjust the sensitivity so you don't need to pick it up 12 times to get across a screen. The pad size is fine I navigate a 17" at work, a 21" wide at home and a dual 30" in a command center it works fine at all the locations. This is also the only mousepad that has gel that holds up, doesn't feel slimy or covered in cheap neoprene and best of all doesn't move from where you place it. The pad accuracy is fine when used for gaming and for creating basic photo edits and web graphics.
"Small pad & optical mouse does not work well" I have the crystal blue wrist rest and pad. I think that the wrist rest is great but my Logitech optical mouse does not work well on the pad. I think the pad could be a little bigger but I could deal with the size if only my mouse worked better on the surface. My husband has a Microsoft optical mouse and it did not work any better. I tried using my old mouse pad on top of it and that works much better but sort of defeats the purpose. I think I will go for the wrist rest without the mouse pad. If I were just rating the gel wrist rest itself, I would give it 5 stars.
"Just OK" The wrist rest is to hard and the mousepad is small. I did not like it and returned it to Amazon.
"Okay item -- but a couple of issues." As one of the reviewers mentioned, this works best with small-handed folks, and I do have small hands as well as a small child (5) with small hands, so the size works great for us.
The first 'issue' I have is with the size of the mousepad. The wireless keyboard I use and this mousepad barely fit on the the keyboard tray attached to the underside of my desk. So, the surface of the mousepad would work better for me if it were longer from top to bottom, and more narrow from left to right. Frequently, when I push the keyboard tray in, the mousepad 'jams' and I have to re-adjust everything just to get the tray to close. GRRRRRR. Or, worse yet, when I pull the keyboard tray out, the mousepad falls off the back of the keyboard tray!
The second issue is more of a 'warning' to parents of small children. If you have a small child who likes to 'experiment' on things or take things apart -- it won't take too long for them to realize that they can puncture this little doo-hicky and get some 'really cool' oozy stuff to come out! When my son was four, he found this out by accident when the scissors he was holding poked a hole in the gel part. :-(
Now, we have a cute little green (not blue -- but the exact same model) gel mousepad with lovely packing tape covering the puncture.
The long narrow gel wrist guard I use for the keyboard I'm sure will be his next project. He's already managed to get the fabric cover off.... now, if he can just find an 'accidental' way to poke a hole in it!!
So, anyway. I think the item is nice, but more appropriate for the office -- away from curious little kids -- but nice for us little-handed adults.
Good luck!

What our customer's say!
"gel mousepad", can't find this in local stores, only could find on-line. good shipping, wonderful product, works well with lazer mouse
"Would have recieved 5 stars if...", A few points:
1) too small - too large...it is irrelevant since you can adjust the sensitivity on a mouse to compensate for mousepad size.
2) the gel rest is in fact very comfortable and the surface is very rugged. I had one for 3 years and the only major difference was a slight color variance on the gel rest surface after years of contact with skin oils. Yes...it is easily puncturable by children with scissors, as a former reviewer mentioned...but so are bicycle tires, eyeballs and kittens...thus why supervision may be necessary on the common sense level.
3) The mousing surface requires wiping down every once in a while. After 4 years it looked practically brand new with regular (once a week) cleaning.
4) I talked to Fellowes a while back when I bought my first one of these models. The 5th star was lost because this model does seem to have a problem with a bad chemical smell when I first purchased it - I was worried that the chemicals in the gel were actually seeping through the gel rest casing and onto my skin. Upon speaking to someone at the company I was told that it is not the chemicals that is making the smell...it is that fact that some people's skin oils just have that reaction with the plastic gel casing. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen to an unlucky few who have the right body chemistry. They told me the smell would cease in 2-3 weeks of use....and it did completely.
All in all this model does what it was meant to do - it's not going to win any academy awards, but on the flip side it's not the devil either. I own a logitech optical mouse and everything works fine with me on each of the 3 I have purchased. It is a very pleasant blue, the rest is rather comfortable and the plastic gel casing is a nice change from the fabric covering that most other mousepads w/rests use. If they learned to make a gel casing that wouldn't react to some skin chemistries...this would get a 5 star rating from me. (at the very least the chemical smell should be mentioned on the packaging and brief explanation given)
"This thing was pretty good, until the glue went bad", I've had two of these over the past seven years. I lost the first one in a move, and went to buy another one because I really liked the first one. The second one was okay, until the glue broke down on the pad and the pad part of it started to buckle after about six months of use. It's difficult to roll a mouse across a lumpy surface.
The wrist rest part of it is great, and so rather than spend money on another pad, I just wound up cutting off the pad part and keeping just the wrist rest part, and using my optical mouse on the desk surface itself.
Unlike other reviewers, I did not have a problem using my Microsoft Optical mouse (which is almost ten years old) on the pad. I also did not have any smell upon first getting the pad.
I might have just gotten a dud with this one, as the first one I had was really good, so I can't tell you not to buy this mouse pad. I recommend the wrist rest thoroughly, and the company does sell those by individually.
"Comfortable Mouse Pad", This mouse pad is a good size for normally sized mice and normally sized people. The wrist pad is firmer than many of the gel pads which I am familiar with. The mouse pad itself has a hard plastic surface which has held up well after 6 months of constant use. The pad does become dusty or dirty living in my office, but it is easy to clean. This might not be the ideal option for those affected by carpal tunnel syndrome, but it makes mousing more comfortable than with other mouse pad/wrist rest products I have used.
"Cold Wrist Support", It works very well and is comfortable, but the wrist support is a plastic covered gel that seems like it is always cold. I would have preferred a cloth covered wrist support.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Great Mouse Pad", I have a purple Gel Crystal Mousepad/Wrist Rest, and I wouldn't want to purchase any other mouse pad. The Gel Crystal keeps the pad very cool, which results in eliminate the wrist pad that I used to have. I highly recommend the item. I have used the pad with both a ball and optical mouse without any problem.
"Great form but does not work with my optical mouse", The mouse pad is a great idea with superb support for the wrist. Unlike some customers, I did not detect any odors or problems with the materials use in the gel pad. However, the mouse pad did not work with my Logitech optical mouse. Great idea but poorly implemented.
"The wrist rest mousepad", I really like the mousepad with the gel wrist rest, because it helps support the wrist while using a mouse and, it makes it less likely to get carpal tunnel, as the wrist rest props your wrist up to the proper position. I recommend it to other constant computer users.
"comfortable, but useless to me", I don't have the blue one, mine is a glossy black. Very nice piece, but the surface won't work with my optical mouse either. I'm sure it has something to do with the color/reflectiveness. I have noticed that this company also sells pads that they specify for optical mice.
"Great for TRAVEL mice or people with VERY small hands.", This mouse pad is diminutive to say the least - the usable mousing surface is only about six by six inches. My Logitech MX mouse has only one inch to spare just sitting there from top to bottom, so it is useless to me. However, I do not detect any wierd chemically smell like other reviewers - maybe it was only the clear model? Mine is blue and the wrist rest is great - it's just way too small of a mouse pad for anything but a travel mouse. I also have an optical mouse and it has no trouble tracking on the pad except that there is no room to move it.
