"Works flawlessly under Kubuntu Linux", I purchased the adapter to connect my older GPS receiver with my Linux desktop. When I connected the adapter to my desktop, Linux immediately recognized it and assigned it a serial port device number. It also works well in Vista after installing the included driver. No fuss, no trouble.

"Does NOT work with Vista", This product did not come with the device drivers to enable my Garmin to connect with a PC Vista computer. I am unsure whether this is due to the major scratches on the disc that came with it (I tried it on an XP computer as well) or what. I tried to find something online but everything relevant is in Chinese. A COMPLETE waste of money. Be careful...this company makes it sound like it will work with basically any device, but that was NOT my experience.

"Does not work well in industry", The CablesToGo USB to Serial adapter did not work for me. I tryed using it in an industrial setting to connect a Vista machine to RS Linx and other industrial software. I love their instructions - see if the adapter shows up as properly installed in the windows device manager (which it does). If it doesn't work, the problem is with your software. Right.

Don't waste your time or money on this product. There is a reason there are 54 used ones for sale for a couple of bucks on Amazons site. If you want a solution that works every time, purchase the Keyspan USA 19HS adapater. It plain works. Sure it costs twice as much, but no excuses. See my review on the Keyspan adapter for connectivity to RS Linx using a Vista or XP machine.

"Works great", I run a couple of devices off of this cable as needed. Each works flawlessly. It may take a little bit more computer savvy then the normal plug and play, just to make sure that the computer is searching for the device on the right com port (took me about ten minutes of frustration to figure out that the device had seated on com11 - switched it to com1 and all well)!!

Also - for those who don't read installation manuals (myself included) - it helps to run the install disk first... :)

If you need this type of connectivity, I highly recommend!

"Great COM1 option for laptop with USB only", I have a laptop with USB but I needed a COM1 port to communicate with my GPS.

This product did exactly what I needed. It came with a CD with the necessary drivers and instructions that made the whole process quite easy.

If you need a COM1 port on a computer that only has USB, this is the product for you.

"Works as advertised", I purchase this cable to attach an older Magellan GPS to my newer tablet computer. (no serial ports) It hasn't done any heavy work yet, but I have sent data in both directions and that's all I need.

Cables To Go USB To Db9 Serial Adapter USBa/db9m Rs-232

"Works well for my application", My newer XP PC hardware did not support a traditional db9 serial port, only USB ports. I purchased this USB to db9 serial adaptor to resurrect an Atmel AVR evaluation kit (STK500). This "Cables to Go" model works well with the evaluation kit and solved my problem.

"Works, after a bit of trying", I bought this cable to interface between a computer running Windows Vista (32 bit) and my Garmin Etrex Legend GPS using Garmin MapSource (v. 6.13.4). I was only able to get it working after uninstalling the drivers that came on the disc, and installing the updated ones available on the company's website. If you are a Vista user buying this for your Garmin GPS, it works, but don't bother with the disc and go straight for the drivers on the website.

"USB to Serial port cable", I needed this to talk to my after-market ECM (Zippers ThunderMax, replacement motorcycle EFI brain) with my laptop which had no serial port. I was told the ThunderMax serial cable and software were picky about USB conversion systems. This one worked perfectly with my Dell Inspiron 6000, allows the Zippers software to upload and download to/from the ECM. I assume this means it will work to talk to any serial device, but I only tested this one. It did require loading drivers from the included CD.
