What our customer's say!
"Austin Powers' cousin? Who cares! This games is brilliant baby!", There's nothing more fun than blowin' away the baddies. Unless you're in a goofy, off-the-wall shooter like "No One Lives Forever 2"!
This is one of my all time favorites and most deseverdly so!
Why you ask? That's a good question, so allow me to break it down for you:
PROS:
1. Action: Tons of bullet blasting mayhem on 40 levels! The AI improves as you go farther into the game. Them baddies can dodge I tells yah! 2. Design: Aside from the level designs the costumes and backgrounds are terrific. There's a lot of talent involved in designing tunnels, bases, rooms and characters. Great to look at! 3. Artillery: Great selection of machine guns and the various types of ammunition for those, handguns and shotguns. Not to mention grenades and some really WEIRD objects that are too bizarre to explain... 4. Humor: Very, very funny stuff! A terrific assortment of puns, British witt and Monty Python-esque silliness! Great dialogue and plot! 5: Saving: There's automatic saves and then there's your own at any time and anywhere! 6. Music: Groovy and exciting tunes through out. 7. Voice Acting: Top notch acting with great directing. 8: Online Gaming: Crazy. Fun. Dig it! CONS: 1. Switching of weapons: It takes too long sometimes to be able to fire when switching between artillery. Usually, it's when a weapon that needs to be cocked that this will be an issue. 2. A-to-B-to-C gameplay: Pick "A" up to open "B" with, etc. It gets a bit repetitive but not so much that you'll get annoyed. 3. Stealth: It's a great concept but for some reason it's not logically implemented here. When you hide in a shadow a "hide bar" pops up and it takes "time" to become unseen. I'm not sure why the designer thought this was a good idea considering shadows don't take 5 seconds to fall upon someone. Kinda dumb. 4. Ranking. I'm not sure what you have to do to rank well but I picked up just about everything I could and had a decent shooting ratio but my rank level never increased. I didn't care really, but best not to even have this system included.

It's a terrific game that is clever, exciting and fun to play. Highly recommend picking it up!
PS: Make sure to download and install all the updates to 1.3. There's an update feature installed along with the game so make sure to use it.
PSPS: Amazon has XP listed as the only operating system; this is incorrect. W98, 2000 and ME are usuable operating system to play this.
"NOLF 2 Revisited", I played this game a couple of years ago, but decided to play it again ... it was ALMOST as much fun the second time! The graphics are now getting dated, but the play is pretty smooth and the audio is good!
"An awesome game", There are a lot of great first person shooter games out there, but NOLF 2 is one of the best. The graphics are very good (9/10) and the storyline is great and you don't feel like you're getting lost and confused (10/10). The game is also "long enough," having 15 chapters that you can't just blow through in a few minutes. In fact, a few of the chapters are fairly long, which I find good in a game. The dialogues are also clear and rather funny at times (10/10). There are many weapons to choose from and some are even entertaining, like the laughing gas. It's also kind of fun to burn civilians with the welder just because it takes a few times for them to die. The blood is realistic but it is a little frustrating that the bodies disappear because there's just something nice abotu seeing a massacre. However, this game is funny to say the least so it doesn't take too much from the game. The sounds are good and the enemies' abilities to be alerted by noise is very realistic (10/10). I've played this game so many times that I can't even count anymore. It's definitely worth the money, even if it was $50.00.
"NOLF: The Seventies", No One Lives Forever 2 is a very fun game that largely carries on in the tradition of the first, but can't recapture its spirit. The first game, which was as close to a female Austin Powers flick as legally possible, sparkled with 60's era James Bond superspy culture. Largely unrealistic in its over the top plot and villainous characters, it still drew the player into its day-glo trippy world with fantastic physics, consistently stunning graphics and level design, and sympathetic protagonists brought to life with (mostly) sharp and humorous dialogue.
The sequel trades in the psychadelic backdrops for a more serious, relatively colorless atmosphere. While perhaps more realistic, it's nevertheless not as fun as the first. It never approaches the level of tedium, but there was nothing in NOLF 2 that really compelled me to continue exploring through the next level as in the first game. Except my completist ego of course.
Another mistake I believe was made in excluding the training sessions back at headquarters. These introduced the exotic and often silly superspy weapons, and also built depth into the original game's atmosphere. I missed those interludes in the sequel. I was also disappointed with 2's restrictive pre-mission weapon selection. NOLF's ability to choose inventory between levels gave me a greater feeling of control over my methods of conquest. Not to mention the sequel is a bit shorter, which just adds to the shallow feeling.
I also fear the developers tried to lean too hard on the "stealth" mechanic, which doesnt really work any better in the sequel than the original. Too many sequences in NOLF2 are frustrating trial-and-failure excercises, due to inconsistent enemy awareness. Perhaps the worst error was the inclusion of infinite enemy respawn points at certain areas of the game. It's simply a cheap, illogical, and frustrating tactic to extend difficulty without having to work too hard at gameplay balance.
In its own right, NOLF2 is a very good first person shooter. But comparisons to the first are inevitable, and in their attempt to differentiate the sequel from the original, the developers may have learned the hard way that the only direction away from the fantastic No One Lives Forever was down.
"Laugh my ...... off", Every time I play this game on the net I start laughing so much that I usually get my butt kicked. If you are looking for a game that makes you laugh this is the one. With the wide range of weapons to choose from you can make your opponent slipe on bananas, put them to sleep, trap them or just kill them and more. Even though the game has some glishes it's well worth the fun. I highly recommed NOLF 2.

"She's baaaack!", Cate Archer is back in this much anticipated sequel. She's gotten a graphic face-lift and boy is she beautiful! This time she's after more evil henchmen. As in the last game you'll be able to drive select vehicles and the story is equally as compelling. The graphics are great, Cate never looked better and the environments are way more detailed than the first installment. However, you will find this game to be much shorter than the original. That's no reason to avoid it though, as I'm sure you'll know from playing the first game, you just can't get enough of Cate and the wacky humor of No One Lives Forever. Underneath the pretty exterior is a killer FPS with unique weapons and hot action.
Buy this game before it's out of print. It's a classic. And don't forget to get the first game as well.
"not as good as the first one,but still a very good game", the first one was more action based, rpg and here it becomes more of a shooter game.
"FANTASTIC Entertainment!", This game is pure, high-quality entertainment. You're inside the body of Cate Archer, a British superspy in the groovy 60s, attempting to thwart HARM, an evil organization bent on global domination (think female Austen Powers). Cool gadgets abound, with transformations of ordinary feminine necessities into Bond-like gadgets-- such as a welder disguised as a girly hairspray bottle, or a nail clipper that doubles as a lockpick.
The dialogue and cutscenes are great fun. Throughout, the drunken leader of HARM can't avoid the incessant phone calls of his nagging mother (who never likes to be hung up on), and his purposefully badly-acted henchman, a fledgling actor that only got the part because he has an important relative in showbiz, (Terrence Sloggins, I think it is? LOL) looks at the camera with a hesitant expression and an awkward pause every time he's lost for his next cue-- eventually frustrating all the actors around him and creating some great comedy. Of course the hilarity doesn't end there (extending to a trigger-happy US "Sarge" that just wishes he could nuke the Russians, a big, burly Scotsman that objects to holding Cate's purse, a temporary director of operations taking a friendly [but relentless] ribbing from his colleagues, and those eerily silent French mimes!), the cinematic highlights could go on forever.
The game has great replayability for a host of reasons-- among them is if you go through it the first time with guns blazing, it will be a must to play it over again with sneakier spy tactics, which make it not only more challenging, but you will surely spot some great content you missed while you were busy killing everything that moved. For instance, you can hide quietly outside a building and peek in a window to see a Soviet soldier dancing with the radio on, a scientist working at his desk, a guard buying food at a vending machine-- and best of all, you can eavesdrop on their often hilarious conversations from the other side of a door, through a ventilation duct, or around the corner of a building.
The AI is sharp as a tack. Your adversaries can see and hear your every move (beefing up on the stealth skills will help you gain an edge on their senses), and they recognize if their environment has been disturbed ("Hey, who turned off the lights in here!"). If you kill someone, you must move the body to avoid alarming others with the sight of a dead comrade-- if they see a body, they'll come looking for you... and they might bring some friends with them while they're at it. Distract a guard by flipping a coin (yes, coins are included in your arsenal) onto pavement and, since no one can resist free money, sneaking out of sight while he leaves his post to pick it up.
For the people that like the big guns, there are certainly no lack of weapons (but don't depend on them *too* much; each level's challenge is working with what you have or find, which sometimes is only a handful of quarters!). Depending on the level, you can be armed with anything from a taser to a Gordon 9mm submachine gun, with a crossbow, a dart gun (which can shoot camera disablers, tranquilizers or tracking darts), a handgun, an AK-47, a sniper's rifle, Cate's Angry Kitty device (a robotic kitten that explodes upon contact with its unsuspecting victim), three different kinds of grenades (sleeping gas, stun and 'blow-em-up'), Japanese throwing stars and swords, and even bear traps filling out Cate's arsenal. Simply experimenting with different weapons tactics can keep you busy for days!
As the sleek superspy you are, you can raid just about every inch of your environment for intelligence, and your hard work will be rewarded with some very entertaining literature-- especially in the Soviet levels, where many if not most documents drip with Cold War satire! Close doors behind you and turn off the lights to sneak around undetected in the dark. Duck and crawl to avoid being seen through a window. Conduct pat-down searches on deceased or unconscious bodies to glean equipment and intelligence. Everything adds to the heart-thrumming tension you are bound to experience while you attempt to accomplish everything without getting caught.
Two technical issues I've had: What another person said about the last patch applied for me too-- When I installed patch 1.3 the game would no longer launch, but as I'm not really into multiplayer stuff (the 1.3 patch is largely for multiplayer features) this didn't really matter to me, I just reinstalled without the patch and never had a problem since. If this becomes a problem for you and you really want the contents of that patch, there may be a workaround, but I personally haven't bothered to look. My other technical issue is that when certain levels load, they sometimes crash to desktop or cause a spontaneous reboot, but that can probably be blamed on my machine more than anything else.
Concludingly, ("At last," you say!) you've got rich satirical comedy, hugely interactive environments, very smart AI: a splendid time is guaranteed for all. I would still pay the original retail price for this phenomenal game. To compound the greatness, look at the prices now! With so much entertainment for so little cost, you simply cannot lose.
"Multiplayer issues ... Patch 1.3 ??? Hmmm", Good game, very fun, great graphics, etc., but multiplayer is no-go. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this game so many times it hurts! I have tried every trick I know of to make NOLF 2 multiplay work and nothing. Good up to patch 1.2 ... but no multiplay servers with 1.2. Patch 1.3 is a joke ... still have not figured out how to make the game play with that latest patch ... and I'm not the only one. Still, a fun one to play singleplayer.
"Not quite as good as the original", This is a pretty good sequel to the first No One Lives Forever, though it lacks the cohesiveness of the first and just isn't as funny and original. Plus, some of the levels are overly long and the skill system is a little strange and annoying. Still, it's a great game [even if I can't get it to run on my latest system.]
