"Amazing!" These headphones are great. Great sound. Great bass, Man I almost didn't buy these because people said there was not a great bass. Glad I didn't listen to them. The Bass is amazing, and I would know I'm Jamaican, man. These babies also get loud. Holy $h!t, man blow your house away. These are better than most of the brands in $500 range, pretty amazing. Pro quality headphones, for hobo's price range. Buy these headphones, great for Bob Marley, man. And they're German so you know they are made well. Sennheiser HD 280 is the only way to go. One love, man.
"Solid Headphones" Really solid headphones, nice and sturdy. They take a little time getting used to the pressure that they put on your ears but once you get past that they sound fantastic. They also eliminate pretty much all of the background noise.
"I can hear it." I was looking for a new set of cans, headphones that is... i had always bought the 19.99 -30.00 cheapos, and inevitably after a few months or a year they would breakdown. no biggie, it's like cheap sunglasses. Well, I have been getting more into recording and wanted to find a little bit better set. A friend of mine suggested the high-end senheiser, which are bit tooo high end for my budget and they are all open ear design (meaning that the headphones aren't fully enclosed for a more natural sound experience) the problem is that the sound bleeds quite noticably and this would not be ok. anways, i did some research and decided on the HD 280 Pro set from sennheiser and i am EXTREMELY happy. I can hear things in songs that i had never heard before. like singer's taking breaths, clicking of guitar strings even the clarity of notes. The 280s fit over the ear snugly, but there is plenty of padding so it is quite comfy. Though they can get a little warm. My only complaint would be that they are ever so slightly muddy, but i expected this after reading the difference between closed ear and open ear headphones. open have a much brighter, punchy sound..while the closed tend to be fuller. Great headphones at a very reasonable price.
"No-Nonsense Headphones" I bought these headphones bearing them in mind that I would use them at work primarily for blocking out the gossip ninnies. I find them a little tight, but I don't notice after wearing them for 10 minutes. The sound reproduction is well balanced all around. Being that these are over the head cans, I think I will get more use out of them if I make an Altoids tin amp one of these days.
"Worth it" These headphones are amazing. Very good quality sound coupled with excellent noise cancelation. The cord can get in the way a little, but seeing as how that is the only annoyance, I still gave it a five-star review. I recommend these for anyone looking to isolate themselves from a distracting environment or seeking a rewarding musical experience.

What our customer's say!
"Regarding a product's competency.", Having searched for a set of headphones that would operate at quality levels, I continually encountered positive feedback about the Sennheiser HD280 Pro. I decided to purchase a set, and have found out the following:
They can handle a wide range of genres, even producing low bass and high treble with a great deal of clarity. They were designed as studio quality, and carry out that professional duty more than adequately.
The headphones are compact enough to store away neatly, but large enough to fit over your head just as neatly. The drawback might be the seal they produce around your ears, which will effectively cut off most of your ambient sounds. When listening to anything, the ambient sound almost vanishes. People talking, a radio playing, the tv on... Gone.
For their price, which is half of its original cost, I have the personal opinion that they outperform the pricier Bose. The Sennheiser HD280 Pro is not really remarkable in any one direction, and is instead a well-balanced product, appealing to a wide variety of tasks without sacrificing any of them. Where bass headphones mercilessly cut up the treble, these can produce both ends, and make anything sound rich, alive, and downright remarkable.
"Great item for great price", I've only had these headphones for a short period of time but so far so good, i haven't had any problems and they seem to be reliable as well. I'm not sure what the life span will be but like most products you order, this one worked right when i first used it.
"Great, even, flat, realistic sound.", These are great, especially for the price. The bass response is excellent and the tight fit may not be great if you have a large head but they fit so snug and very little sound gets in or out. I love my 280s and have never had any issues or problems after 18mos. Very good sound for mix since there is not alteration or "enhancements" from the speakers. Replaceable cushions are a great idea as well since these seem like the speakers will outlast the foam.
"So far, an excellent product.", I don't write reviews unless I am exceptionally impressed, for the good or the bad. I am pleased to be writing this review.
The Sennheiser HD-280 Pros arrived and after the first couple of weeks I am quite impressed with both the quality and design. I was concerned when reading several comments on the snug fit, stating it was designed for a narrow head. I wear a size 7 3/8 hat and I find the set fits very well. It is snug but no more than is necessary for a proper fit. My other concern was wondering if these would measure up and if I should be looking for something in the 500 series. I decided to stay with a closed-back and these fit the bill nicely.
These are my first headphone purchased "blind" and I have to admit I was concerned. I am a "try before you buy" guy. I stepped outside my comfort zone and gave it a shot. I was not disappointed.
These have a much clearer sound with deeper lows and crisper highs than my Audio-Technica headphones. I recently listened to a recording of J.D. Sumner, best known as the bass singer for the Stamps Quartet and having toured with Elvis Presley. He is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for his solo recording of the hymn "Blessed Assurance". According to Guinness, the song contained the lowest recorded note ever produced by a human voice, a "double low" C.
I was anxious to hear his bass voice on my new headset and it did him every bit of justice. I heard vocal depths I had not before heard. It was as if somebody turned on the light switch.
I have always used, as my audio unit of measure, the sounds of the acoustic piano and the vocal accoutrements of a good Southern Gospel quartet singing a cappella. It is how I have chosen which electronic keyboards were quality and is the audio track I take with me when buying equipment and speakers. The HD-280's produce a clear tone in the lower, middle and upper registers without muddying or blurring the tones, neither does it produce sounds too sharp.
Whether you are listening to Béla Bartók or Ol' Blue Eyes, Southern Gospel or Jazz, Classical or Country or anything in between, these can handle the acoustics for even the most discerning ear.
And yes, just as it makes the good notes sing, those sour notes will land with an echoless thud.
The around-the-ear design is comfortable and the pads are quite sufficient. The speaker placement within each cup provides a sound that is set back from the ear enough so as not to have that in-the-ear sensation one gets from earbuds and even many headsets. The sound surrounds rather than attacks.
A feature I particularly enjoy about these headphones is the included 1/4" plug adapter. It doesn't just plug on (which we all know will eventually begin falling off over the years). Sennheiser has adapted a screw-on feature to keep it securely attached. A minor feature but appreciated none the less.
Don't forget these offer user-replaceable components making them that much less disposable.
Comfort and quality. I recommend this product with a 4 1/2 stars (nothing is perfect).
"Durable", I bought a pair of these 4 or 5 years ago and my treatment of them has been nothing short of abusive. I really beat the hell out of them, for years, and they hold up like a champ. They sound great too but that's all in the spec sheet.

"Music Head Junky", Great headphones for a gr8 price. If u really want exceptional quality monitoring headphones in a noisy environment where you need it to be at a minimum then this pair the HD 280 is perfect for the job. My only gripe with it is with my ears not fitting too comfortably around it, not recommended for regular personal usage with a walkman for biking as an example.
"Wait for it...", I bought these about half a year ago when they were on sale for $65, after graduating from Sennheiser EH-150 Evolution Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones
I wouldn't say I was impressed, given my very high expectations, but sometimes I'll be listening to music and it's gooood.
Cons: - Jaw-ear area starts to hurt after a few hours of use; - If you're going bass or volume-heavy, be wary of emitting noise; - Been told I look ridiculous wearing them
"Great Product", Great Headphones, amazing sound. I use these with my Zune 80gb and on my laptop with HD sound card. I also play some games that require directional hearing, and these headphones work great. At first they were a bit tight, even though I have a relatively small head, but after waring a few times they fit perfect. Block out external sound well, and very little leakage even at higher volume.
"Great sound, but too tight", They sounded great, but they were way too tight (and I have a small head). They gave me a headache after less then an hour of wearing them. I returned them and bought a pair of AKG K240s. The AKG's are much more comfortable, but I'd say the Sennheisers may have sounded just tad better, though it's had to say for sure since I couldn't listen side-by-side.
"sennheiser", using it as a studio monitor - i need isolation from a microphone - it does very well.
