"Another successful Mario port."
One of Nintendo's big money makers is porting their old games over to new systems. Specifically, the Super Mario Advance games have been a huge hit. Super Mario Advance 2 brings over two games to the Game Boy Advance. The first, Mario Brothers, is so simple that it's basically a mini-game. The real draw here is Super Mario World, one of the most popular Mario games ever -- and for good reason.

Super Mario World is not exactly ground breaking. It uses the same formula and plot from Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario Brothers 3. However, it is an immense adventure, which lots of hidden levels and plenty to explore even after you've defeated Bowser. It also introduces some new moves to the Mario brothers, such as a spinning jump that can break bricks from above. Moreover, it introduces one of the more enduring characters of the Mario franchise, Yoshi. The one thing I think it's really missing is the variety of suits and powers that came with Super Mario brothers 3. Super Mario World only has three power-ups: the super mushroom, the fire flower, and the cape, which allows limited flight and works similar to the raccoon leaf of the previous game.

If you've played a Mario game before, it all seems very familiar, but is also a ton of fun. The Mario franchise is one of those special games that doesn't need to break a lot of new ground -- it just needs to keep doing what it's been doing. For those new to the franchise, Super Mario World is a good introduction. While Mario has worked well in 3D games, his roots are with the 2D side-scroller, and Super Mario World helps demonstrate why those games are still fun even today.

"Super Marioworld"
My daughter and son played this game on the SNES system and LOVED IT! It's the very same game but they were no longer able to play it because our SNES is broken. They can now play it on their Ninetendo DS and think it's the bomb!

"great game, smaller screen but all the fun of the original."
If you remember playing this on the SNES, then it is no different than that. However, you also get the ORIGINAL Mario Bros. game (this is before the level scrolling game, think donkey Kong with spiked shell animals instead of the troopas)

Overall, great game, easy to learn to play and MANY hours of game play (secret levels, bonus games in levels, etc.)

"Revisting an old classic"
This was one of my favorite Mario games. It had been such a long time since I've played this game, It's still just as fun as it was back in the days of the SNES. Memorable Yoshi made his first appearance, the "bouncing" Bowzer final boss in that clown upside down helicopter?.., Trying to get 100%. This game is a classic that no one should be without. I highly recommend this to both the older ones who can reminisce about this classic and the young who never got a chance to play one of the best SNES games.

"My First Non-DS Review, and a Good One"
Growing up in a not-so-financially stable home, the SNES was the only gaming luxury I had growing up, and the only console I've owned until I bought my DS June of last year. So you can imagine the nostalgia that overwhelms me when I picked up this copy (also, because I was poor, the only SNES game I ever owned was Super Mario World, because it came with the console).

What a joy this was. Do I need to delineate on gameplay? It was exactly like the Super Mario of old, save maybe the slightly awkward button positioning for the DS version. The only complaint I had for this game was that after completing the Secret Roads, the worlds don't turn into the Halloween themed layout that you got in the SNES version.

Because of my anal nature, I wish I had nabbed a mint copy of the original version of the GBA Super Mario World, but I was stuck with the Player's Choice Version. Either way, this is a really good game to pick up. If you've played it as a kid, don't expect anything new, as there isn't much new except for the version of Mario that you can play that has the POW block and those spiky monsters.

Great collection piece to own, and at $19.99 is light on the wallet.

"MY FIRST GAME EVER", THIS GAME WAS MY FIRST GAME EVER.IT IS REALLY FUN. IT HAS LOTS OF LEVELS.
I STILL PLAY THE GAME TODAY. I USED TO THINK IT WAS NEW BUT THEN I SAW
THAT IT CAME OUT 15 YEARS AGO. ITS COOL THAT THIS GAME WAS THE DEBUT OF
YOSHI.

GAME PLAY 100/100
PICTURE 100/100
SOUND 97/100

PS. BUY IT

"Bringing back memories!", This game is awesome for anyone who played Super Nintendo, and for anyone who didn't. If you played the old version, you will find that it's exactly the same, with just a couple added sound effects. It brings back so many memories!

"Mario games", Another game I bought not realizing I already owned it - I love the Mario games and this one is good even though it's an older version of graphics.

"Just like the original!", I bought this out of nostalgia to play on my DS and it didn't disappoint. If you loved the original (who didn't???) then this is a great game.

My only complaint is that the controls are kind of strange when playing it on the DS. It definitely took some time to get used to, but this isn't a major complaint.

"Games", Got this for my 6 year old grandson, since he was always taking his older brother's gameboy. Got him a Gameboy from Amazon (used) also, so he was all set to go and the big brother did not have to worry about his "stuff". Now they are both happy and can switch games when they want.

"Super Mario World is so much fun!", I got this game for Christmas and it is so great! You get to defeat castles and many different kinds of enemies. It takes a long time to beat, unless you are really good at these kinds of games. At the end, you have to defeat Bowser. It's hard for me!

"got me addicted to mario", i bought this game a few years back and i have to say iv'e gotten really addicted to it. this game made me forget about any other gba title for years just because i didn't need to. ther's over 90 levels to find, great music, and simply fun and addictive gameplay. if you've never played a mario game, get it. if you have, but not this one, still get it. out of all my mario games, about 15 in all, this triumphs over the others.that's pretty good considering most of mario's games are great. you can even pick luigi who has superior jumping and flying abilities. i still like mario better.though you can't truly appreciate this game like i do unless you've gottten into later worlds and really, really looked at this game like i do and see it's unique gameplay and innovative levels.still this game is tons of fun and doen't get you bored

"This game is a little challenging, but I got the hang of it now", This Super Mario World 2 is a very challenging game - it includes characters as in Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and other characters. On level 5 its very challenging, you have to go into the castles and when you get to the doors, push up. Then, you have to run past the part where booby traps try to smash you. If you get through that, then you do the tilting seesaw and jump on iggy so he goes into the lava. There are many more levels, but I've only gotten to the 14th. I don't know much, but I'll keep going.

"Super Mario World With Some Modifications...For The Good (Rating: 10 out of 10- -5 stars)", Flashback to the Christmas 1993. I first received my Super Nintendo, and Super Mario World came with the console (this was back when you got the system and a game all in one box for $129.00). I played this game for hours, and I eventually beaten it in about 3 years, due to on and off play. Eventually I sold my system and all my games. But just recently I decided to pick up "Super Mario World" on gameboy advance about a week ago. The game is still fun to play. You get the traditional powers like the mushroom and the fire flower. The new addition you receive is a cape (if you played Super Mario 3, it is exactly the racoon tail power). Also this game introduced Yoshi and his friends (different color Yoshis). There are also newer enemies in this game that may come pretty tough to beat. Whats also good is that you can store powers in that blue box at the top of the screen, which can come in handy as well.

There are some modifications on the GBA than the SNES versions. One that stood out to me was that you can either play with Mario or Luigi on any level, and you can switch them out whenever you feel. Also if you played with Luigi, you'll notice the awkward jump that he has (if you played Super Mario 2, you'll remember that the way he jumped he kicked his legs in the air. He does that on here as well). Another modification is that the game is much easier as it was on SNES. When Mario or Luigi was hit by an enemy of some kind, they would return back small on the SNES. Here on the GBA version, if you're hit, you'll return back to Super Mario or Luigi (you'll return to the power that you have when you received the mushroom), making you have more chances before you loose a life. One other modification I seemed to notice is that if you beat any Star Road levels (on the map screen you'll see a star that will take you to some hidden levels), you remember that is where you can get the different color Yoshi's (red, blue, and yellow). Well here on the GBA, the Star Road levels are not the only place you can access the diffent color Yoshi's. You can actually get them almost on any level now. If you know what item boxes on the levels that will pop out a Yoshi, you can get them in different colors now. Thats actually a good thing to me now, because they are more accessable than having to only go to one place. Also Yoshi can eat and spit out more items now, which is also a good thing as well. Also the characters talk, which I'm getting used to now.

Well I'm glad I have this game. It is very fun to play. It takes me back to my child hood days when I had this on SNES. I've already beaten this game (I took the Star Road shortcut). This game is pretty easier than it was on SNES. I love it and I recommend it to all ages.

Also this game come with the Arcade version of Super Mario. That is the game where you hit the enemies from underneith and go up and kick them for points. I think they put that in every Super Mario advance games for GBA. This game will keep you occupied for a while and will bring lots of fun to your playing experience.

"One of the absolute greatest platformers of all time", Way back when the Super Nintendo was released, there was a game packaged with it that showed off just what the system was capable of doing. Super Mario World took Nintendo's popular mascot and gave him a bit of a facelift by adding new gameplay dynamics, a new sidekick in Yoshi, much bigger levels, and more challenging enemies. When Super Mario World was ported to the GBA, the game managed to retain most, if not all, of everything that made Super Mario World one of the absolute greatest platformers of all time, along with a few added features. Anyone familiar with the original game will feel right at home with Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World, which is perfect platforming pleasure all the way, and one of the best things you can play on the GBA. The graphics and gameplay are pretty much identical to what you remember, while there are some added sound effects and animations, as well as the original arcade Mario Bros. game included as an extra (which is included with all the other Super Mario Advance games as well). It's still challenging, and most of all, it's still fun all these years later, and if you own a GBA, or even a DS, and have never experienced Super Mario World, then you have been missing out on a great deal. Do yourself a favor, pick this up, you won't regret it.
