"More than Point & Shoot"
You can get blown up every time by just letting your weapons officer do all the work. It's an intense game of strategy. Sometimes they make it easy for you; sometimes it's a try again and again challenge. Some ships can only be defeated by targeting certain subsystems. Sometimes you just flat have to take the helm and fly the Sovereign yourself. At times you can only defeat a fleet of bad guys by ganging up your Allies against one ship. At other times, keeping your allies apart is the only way to avoid suicide. Add to that the delicate balance of powering your own ship's systems, maneuvering between deadly orbiting satelites, and trying not to blow up your own badly-behaved Klingon friends, and you've got a game.

The only minuses to this game are the heavy video card requirements, which can bump you right out of the game if you're trying to max out limited resources, and the carefully controlled script. After playing a few times, I'd just love to blow the Cardassian Matan out of the sky when we first bump into him, but that would just ruin episodes 5-8, wouldn't it? So he escapes in the nick of time. And Ensegn Lomar is very unreliable when it comes to getting you to a ship under attack in time or avoiding Cardassian listening posts. Just take the helm.

"I Love This Game"
My dad researched Star Trek games and bought this for me based on the recommendations of others. I think Bridge Commander is a very cool game. If you like TNG, you can't go wrong buying this. I have dozens of PC games, but I have spent more time playing this than any other.

"Fun Fun Fun!"
My title pretty much sums it up. Who hasn't dreamed of saying, " Lieutenant, set a course for the xi entrades system..........MAximum Warp. You can do this in this game- if you have voice activated command system. Its pretty fun to fight cardassians, and damage is really realistic. You can even saw off warp nacelles with phaser fire! Giving orders is fun, but steering the ship yourself is even moreso. If you so much as think of ramming starbase 12( tons of fun) your first officer seizes command from you. The kessok, a new race are a little over powered, but a sovereign can take care of one with good tactics. this brings me to ships. in single player you get galaxy and sovereign. in skirmish, you get those two, ambassador class, akira class, nebula class,a shuttle craft(yes you heard me right) vorcha, bird of prey, warbird, kessok light, kessok heavy, and a ferengi marauder. so if your going to buy one game this summer, make this it!

"Great story"
This game really astounds you when you first play it, what with the beautiful graphics and all. Starbase 12 looks amazing. It's 100 times bigger than your craft and glows bluish-white.

But as you play the game, you realize that there isn't very much to do. You are given orders by the admiral, and you give orders to your crew. You just sit there as they do most of the work. Sure you can take control of the weapons during a fight, but the fights are never very engaging. They are slow-paced and just a little too simple.

It's the story that kept me playing. It's an excellent Star Trek story that sounds like it could have been an episode of one of the TV shows.

Still, it's probably not worth buying just for the story.

"DO NOT waste your money"
Although I am trekkie and purchased this game with high hopes, I was immensely disappointed. The only positive thing I can say about the game is that most of the graphics are impressive. (One notable exception: when characters' lips move when they are talking, it looks ridiculous and unrealistic.) Every other aspect of the game is horrendous. Gameplay is very slow, and you spend a lot of time just watching events unfold, in sickeningly slow speed, on the screen. The game even manages to make battles boring--you just instruct your tactician, with a series of mouse clicks, to attack, and he fires at the enemy ship for a good five minutes until it blows up. This relegates you to the role of observer rather than participant, which makes for a boring experience. Also, you do not have the ability to save during a mission, so if you make a mistake and fail a mission, you are doomed to repeat the entire boring experience. I strongly recommend against this game.

"100% good!", This game is the gem of the Star Trek Universe. A nice feature is you can use Quick Battle, a simulation in which you choose your own ship, add friendly and enemy ships, and put them to battle. demo: 5 star. game: 5 star. Id definatly reccomend it to anyone who is looking for a very high quality simulation game with extreme graphics and sound with excitement. Here's some more of #1startrekfan's games:
1. Starfleet Command: try this 1st level
2. Dominion War: no, this is bad

"gooses review", It appears that several star trek games are being reviewed together here and this one is for bridge commander. This game puts you in command of a galaxy class star ship at the start of the game. you can give your crew orders by clicking on them and choosing from an options box. your missions are given to you be an admiral who is coordinating efforts in the system of space your ship is assigned to. you eventually get promoted to a soverigne class star ship after you complete the first few missions. you never leave the ship in this game and most of it revolves around skirmishes with varius alien ships. playing the single player mode of this game is like watching an episode of the next generation except without most of the boring sub stories. playing this game was very satisfying and seeing how you fair against some of the ships on the show with the ship of your choice in tactical simulation mode is great. the story although it may sound as if there wouldnt be one with all the ship skirmishes is actually as good as the story or better than the one in elite force.

"Fleeting but wonderful", The missions were incredibly fun and interesting. Just challenging enough and really captured that Star Trek experience. However, within about a week the games were pretty much exhausted (except for the misc optional battles which are pretty dry). It's kind of shocking to "run out of play" that quickly. That said, it was still great fun and worth it!

"Star Trek Bridge Commander.", I've been playing Star Trek Bridge Commander for a while now after I purchased the game just a few years ago. The computer graphics are great if you like to take the Captain's Chair. This game requires some stragety and it's often difficult to play. I have to play this game a number of times before I can get through the next level. But if you are a extremely better gamer and love Star Trek this game is for you. If not don't buy this game if you are not satisified.

"Bridge Commander, a game with so much potential", When I fist saw the pics of bridge commander I thought it looked fun, probrably more so than the other star trek games I've played like SFC III. I was wrong. It's a whole lot better than those could ever hope to be. Yeah, the story game is fun, but the real fun lies in quick battle. You go into it, though, and think where are all the ships. The fact is this game doesn't come with much but has a good basis. Since I first got this game I've gone many times to www.bcfiles.com and downloaded mods, ships, and other fun things for the game. Now the once empty bridge commander is full of all sorts of ships and other interesting things. So, if you want a fun game that's true to star trek and are willing to do a little work online to make it better, bridge commander is the game for you.

"Fun", Not the best but fun playing the captain of the ship. Choosing a strategy can be tough at times but it offers a unique perspective not done before.

"Sad sad sad", This game puts you in the captains chair only to be the puppet of your officers. New meaning to the term, on rails. I give this game 2 stars only because combat did raise my blood pressure.

Download the demo, avoid the game.

"Good but not great", This is a fun game, but the missions are repetitive and usually deal with doing some little thing in one area and warping to another until the end of the episode then warping to STB12 for supplies. Combat missions are sometimes fun except for a few commands that don't get followed through. I think you should be able to steer the ship from the bridge, not steer a model of it in tactical mode. I don't like odd camera angles. Don't waste your money on the Voice Commander software, the profile on this game's CD does not work(it's corrupt) and there is no place to download. I just put my own commands in, but they hardly ever work either and it interferes with the gameplaying. I don't like headphones, or having to wear them to use a mic(only headset mics will work). Playing it with the mouse and keyboard is more entertaining, but you have to like ST Next Gen to like this, if you don't, then don't buy the game. Hopefully thier will be another Judgement Rites/Final Unity like game that incorperates the bridge command and driving the ship, as well as AWAY missions all in one game. Flight Sim/Adventure, why not?

"A top notch Simulator", Yes, this game is good...no, it's great. The graphics: awesome. The sound: unsurpassed. The gameplay: unique, inovative and fun. Though I haven't tried the voice activated option, it seems like a good idea. The game can get difficult, especially when trying to manage your ship systems where-as trying to fight a battle. Try this game, or better yet, buy it.

"Dumb", I own a couple of Star Trek themed games from the Starfleet command line and this game doesn't even come close. The bad lip synching is probably the most entertaining aspect of this game. The main problem is that the game is very linear: you have to end up doing what the script tells you. There is no "character development" (rank advancement, choosing your crew/ship) and the crew that you do get is very annoying. As "captain" you are pretty much just a figurehead (my dog could probably run this game) as the other characters run the show. The graphics themselves aren't bad -- if you don't mind looking at people that resemble bobble-heads. Overall there is no grit and throw down action that you would get from the Starfleet command games: which admittedly, is very much in character with the actual ST:TNG (i.e. very watered down, bland... and dumb).
