Others say..."Hey, these good old games are hard to find!"Not everyone can afford to upgrade the computer annually. I have to search on 2 criteria, One; is it worth the time and money? Two; will it run decently on a sub-gig system? I loved this game. I can't think of a better 20 hours for the money. If your the "run right in and waste em all" type, it plays ok, not fantastic, but ok. After you've played it through once, it actually is more interesting to go back through and try the stealth angle. Some of the conversations that you pick up when your sneaking around are knee-slappers. If you had a conscience it might even be difficult to waste the thugs after you hear about the college money being spent on an Edsel, or the guy who's redecorating his apartment and his mother's dog has a flatulence problem. :) I would say that it definitely deserved the Game of the Year award. Unfortunately I cannot rate the multi-player aspect of the game. I don't have the ability to play against other users. In short, for an under-achieving system, on a budget, this game is a lot of entertainment for the dollar, and it's replayable. "it's not bad ...... but is it worth your time?"its not bad for [$$], but its not the best game ever made by far. First person shooters are basically all similar in feel. You point and click and shoot the enemy that jumps in front of you. Or you can stand back and snipe the unsuspecting target from 100 meters away. Nowadays, virtually every fps has a machine gun, and sniper gun, and despite the packaging the core gameplay remains similar. WHat makes the great fps is the "angle" Where is it based? Whats the storyline? Does it actually make my heart pump, or makes me curious enough to finish the level? I'm not saying NOLF is a bad game. It is very fun, and i like the doses of humor sprinkled throghout. But because it really lacks a distinctive angle, NOLF is not a "great" fps. IMHO, some great fps games I've come across or played were System Shock 2 (for its eeary atmosphere and chilling exctiment), Alien v Predator (good graphics for its time and scary as [heck]), and the Rainbow Six series (because of their realism) I'm also playing NOLF 2, and its a definite improvement over its predecessor. Before declaring this as the best action game of 2000, or ever (as some would argue), please try out the other fps games I put down here. You will definitely notice the difference. "My favorite shooter of all time"Don't let the girl on the cover sway you, this is well worth its money. Besides being an absolute fun shooter, it's also full of hilarious conversations and phrases. The missions will keep you going for some time, and when you finally beat it (WITHOUT CHEATS!), you can go online and show what you've got. Join a clan and get your rank up! One word of advice, when you go online and think you know it all, think again. These guys online know exactly how to beat your sorry butt in about 3 seconds. You will learn the tricks and secrets soon enough young grasshopper. :-)
"Very fun game, minor WinXP problems" I decided to play NOLF when I finished NOLF2. I expected the graphics to be outdated (and they were) but it's not a big deal. This game is centered on the story and gameplay, which are both superb (and hilarious). I'm running this game in WinXP, which isn't "officially" supported. And, there are problems. One, the black letterboxes during cutscenes are half-transparent. Two, every time a new area loads, my video becomes very choppy and ugly (as if video acceleration isn't being used). A quick fix is to go to the display options and change the resolution (to any value). This seems to [beat] the video-card ... until the next area-load, where you have to repeat the process. Over-all, it is what I expected accept for the technical problems. System: Athlon XP 1600+ 512MB RAM Radeon 9500 Pro Video (128MB RAM) Windows XP Pro Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Catalyst 3.1 drivers DirectX 9
"Game Of The Year" NOLF is one of the more fun games I own. I'll admit the graphics leave alot to be disired but they are not horrible. Anyway I don't play games for the graphics I play for the gameplay. This Game Is a must have, in more ways than one. It has masive online Battle Arena's made from parts of levels in single player. You can play against people from Japan and South America, as well as other places. This is just an example of the masiveness of the online Arenas. NOLF single player is even better. Skillfully crafted worlds are ripe for your rightous hand (clutching your trust worthy Parabelum 9mm of course)to have its way with. The levels range from Germany, to a Space Station, to a trapicol paradice. This game is definatly worth your money and your time.

What our customer's say!"NOLF GOTY has got to be one of the best!", This game has got to be one of the best ever made. I owned it when it was originally released and then got rid of it after playing through it many times. I guess today's games just don't have the same fun quotient and that's why I bought it again. Even with older graphics it still really rocks! "Best Game Ever!", If there is one game you must buy, it's No One Lives Forever: Game of the Year edition, and NOLF 2. I highly recommend purchasing this game before they are sold out. The story line is easy to follow, the cut scenes are fun to watch, and the sniping or blowing everything in sight is more than one can handle. Cate Archer is the epitome of all spies. She is just as good as James Bond himself, if not better. You get to control her every move. You get to watch her climb rooftops and scour back alleys to pick off any H.A.R.M. agents. Her weaponry ranges from handguns with silencers to shotguns, hairpins that unlock to hand grenades to toss. You can use 1st person or 3rd person. You become the agent herself, and is put through a series of tasks. Just make sure you're the shooter and not the being shot at! "Contains an extra level!", What are you doing? Stop reading and order both of the No One Lives Forever games before they're no longer in print. I'm serious. These games have a great story, great humor and awesome action. You play a 60's era spy on the trail of evil masterminds. No One Lives Forever has it all... great music, graphics (for its time), cool weapons, stealth if you want and long hours of gaming goodness. You'll find yourself laughing at the story and dialogue and you'll catch the evildoers in some funny conversations. This is one of the best FPS series ever made. To let it pass you buy is a crying shame. Buy both games today. They're cheap and they're well worth the bargain bin price. The Game of the Year edition contains an extra level. Just when you thought the trouble was over, you go on vacation and find your vacation spot is a front for an evil organization! "Simply Awesome", This remains my favorite game ever, even if other games had better graphics even when it came out. Not only do you play an interesting character and you have a great story, the enemy aren't complete idiots. Best of all, the game makes you laugh. I can't count the times, I stopped to listen to a side conversation and was laughing to hard to avoid getting shot. Valve updated the graphics for Half-Life; I wish Sierra would do the same for No One Lives Forever. "NoOne Lives Forever. But youll play it till the day you die!", I decided to buy this game after hearing some good reviews for it, and seeing as how I could get it for 15 bucks as a game of the year edition. I played this game nonstop for about 5 days till I finally beat it. This game would only have been a 3 - 4 without its humor though... humor, not a challenge for killing the oafs of HARM makes this game great. Thats not to say that using a silenced parabellum and sneaking into an area giving large unsuspecting quantities of HARM agents head shots isnt a blast. I believe that this game wouldnt be near as fun if you just played it like Quake or Doom, getting your baddest weapon out and mowing down hoards of them. I think that my goals of maybe getting detected once made the game much more enjoyable. Buy this game while it lasts, the Game of the Year Edition truly is worth it, the extra level was a blast and among the most humorous of levels.

Read this reviews before You buy..."Huh?", How was NOLF game of the year?? I dont understand?? Semi-decent game thou.
"One of the most fun games ever made", Usually with first person shooters there comes a point of exasperation where the levels go from challenging to ludicrous, and I struggle forth to finish it just because I've been playing so long. After I finally beat it I put the game away and don't look at it for a long, long, time. NOLF is perhaps the first time I found a game so enjoyable I turned right around and played it again. Whomever made this spent a lot of effort researching the sixties and trying to capture the look and feel of the time. In addition, they put in a serious amount of humor and variety. Unlike standard first person shooters where a good idea is done to death we get constant change; you battle sharks, jump out of an airplane, go to a space station, ride a motorcycle, a snowmobile, and even do an undercover interview. The main character of Cate Archer is three quarters Diana Rigg and one quarter Jacqueline Bisset, and is as tough as she is sexy, and interacts with a host of characters who seem like they came out of an Austin Powers movie. (A certain Scottish character is almost identical) One of the funnest parts of the game is sneaking up on the guards to listen in on their various conversations. That was unexpected. Overall one of the best games I ever played, it's a shame the sequel was so disappointing.
"THE game for Matt Helm and Derrick Flint", I am a movie lover first and a game lover further on----that is why I highly rate no One Lives Forever so highly. As a mid-1960's movie this game would draw big crowds to theaters. Looking at this game as a movie here is what you get; 1- A sexy Diana Rigg type super heroine who can out shoot, out fight and out smart any villian. 2- Opposing super-secret spy organizations 3- An array of gadgets and weapons to combat evil 4- Arch-villans who range from very slimy to bizarre 5- villanous minions who are numerous, foreign accented (one sound just like John Cleese, expendable and fairly stupid. 6- A neat 1960's spy movie score. 7- 1960's attire complete with 1960's colors. This is a fun game that hits on plenty of '60's spy movie features without being too 60's cliched (not too). The action is very good, the challenge is good and the dialog contains some of the period comments that you would expect. Do you remember Donald Hamilton and Carter Brown?
"Groovy!", I ordered this game after completing NOLF2, so I'm kinda going backwards here. I enjoyed the sequal so much, I just had to get the first one as well. I was impressed by the low price, but I had no idea what I would get for it. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box: not only was there a Prima Official Strategy Guide inside, but a NOLF soundtrack CD as well! How is that for a deal?! Of course, then I installed the game, and the game is great as well. I just love Cate Archer; I'm so sick of James Bond that a female spy is more than welcome. The levels are very interesting (a lot of it in the beginning is training), so far my favorite (which is actually quite difficult) is the level where Cate jumps out of a plane without a parachute and must eliminate the shooting enemies falling with her, all the while trying to reach the man below her who DOES have a parachute, then take it. I'd say this level is equivelent with the Ohio level in the sequel. The graphics are great, and the game is very colorful - after all, it does take place in the groovy 60s. If you haven't played this game yet, and are a FPS fan, you've got to get this game. Even when you aren't spying or killing, you are still entertained by the conversations of the surrounding people. So if you want a great deal on a great game, get this one now. You will not be disappointed.
"If you like FPS games this one will entertain and challenge", Sierra and Monolith have done it again and made an excellent PC CD ROM Game. The graphics are great. You get to ride a snow mobile through beautiful snowscape enviroments. The controls are easy to manage and you can use a joystick too. I enjoyed this games demo and plan to purchase the full. Oh and the sound tracks and music are groovy (think circa 1967).
