Others say...
"GTA III Rocks" I love GTA III. I just recently got a PlayStation 3 and even though this is a PS 2 game it plays fine. I'd recommened this game if you like a lot of action.
"Fun, but very violent!" It's funny to listen to all the anti-violence advocates on here trying to ban games likes gta HEY IDIOTS!: why don't u try to take a stand against real violence acts? idk if you know this, but with or without GTA3 violence happens everyday. Lemme fill ya in, no innocent kids ever played this game and turned into charlie manson or ed gein okay?! if people didn't already like violence they wouldn't all go buy Grand Theft Auto would they? and there is never an instance where the game says: 'go kill a hooker', that is brought on entirely by whomever the player is. i dont kill hookers and shoot innocent people in my game cuz i don't want to but... if i did it wouldn't matter anyway cuz they're not real!!!! it is too far of a stretch to say that a game can be interpreted as REALITY. the us courts agree with me. now listen up cuz i'm only gunna say it once, IF YOU PLAY THIS GAME AND THEN DECIDE ITS OK TO KILL IN REAL LIFE, YOU'RE CRAZY! the game doesn't brain wash you. i'm sorry, but regular smart non-retarded people like myself can play a game like this and not equate to to real-life. nuff said.
basically, it's an open environment game in which you must do missions to advance but the game play is completely non-linear. you can spend time cruising around town speeding thru traffic and going off jumps, or you can try to take on liberty city's police force. either way all good cuz it's just FANTASY. apparently some people have trouble telling the difference between this and reality
"KINDA SUCKS HE DOESNT TALK" I am just now getting into this crazy life of grand theft auto an i had played the san andreas before this one an i liked that one so I decided to give this one a shot,i like the graphics, i like the styles of the cars the only thing that was kinda disapponting,to me that is the radio stations i wasnt born really around this time so i didnt know any of the songs but if you like 80's style rock, country an hip hop then you will love it, an the fact he doesnt have a voice to me part of the fun was hearing what they had to say through out the mission the fact he doesnt say anything kinda sucks but other than that the mission are not to easy fun to do an i love the whole kinda god father, italian type theme
"mayhem- not for children though!" GTA 3 is crazy! I enjoyed roaming around and doing some of the missions. However, I don't recommend this game for children due to the violent themes.
"Trash for the masses" Here is a word that discribes this game: bad, I know that some people like bad as it helps to bring excitement to their otherwise mundane lives. But your life can be so much more if you use the time you play this game to improve you situation and get the respect you want by doing things for others. Oh yeah here are a few other words for this game: abominable, amiss, atrocious, awful, bad news*, beastly, blah*, bottom out, bummer*, careless, cheap, cheesy*, crappy*, cruddy*, crummy*, defective, deficient, diddly*, dissatisfactory, downer*, dreadful, erroneous, fallacious, faulty, garbage, awful, gross*, grungy*, icky*, imperfect, inadequate, incorrect, inferior, junky*, lousy*, not good, off, poor, raunchy*, rough, sad, scuzzy, sleazeball, sleazy, slipshod, stinking, substandard, synthetic, the pits*, unacceptable, unsatisfactory

What our customer's say!
"Super Mario was better.", Grand Theft Auto III is the kind of a game that is immersed in popularity so deep that it actually has more cons than pros. There are too many negatives about playing Grand Theft Auto III due to numerous useless and pointless missions, limitedness of freedom, repetitive playing, constant use of X button, lack of ability to save the game when needed, and ridiculous storyline and miscellaneous information. Let me get the positives out of the way first. For one, Grand Theft Auto III looks cool for its playing features, and the ideas of what to expect are of high level. There is a plenty to do around each of three islands. It took me about a couple of months to beat Grand Theft Auto III, so more bang out of the money. Several special types of missions are fun such as rampages and unique jumps. Now for the negatives as they are many of them. Novelty of a game can only wear off that it's no longer replayable. Grand Theft Auto III is no exception to this case. I beat this game a while ago, and I showed some interest in playing it again few years later. What I had forgotten about Grand Theft Auto III is how monotonous the game is. I perfectly outlined my objectives for each island of three: Cab, Fire, Cop, Jumps, Packages, RC Rampages, and Missions. Each of them (not the RC anyway) takes too damned long to finish. The worst aspect of Grand Theft Auto III is the dreadful Ambulance mission. It takes a good two hours to finish this one; there are twelve levels (level 1, save one person; level 2, save two persons; etc.). If the ambulance is either flipped over or shot up, I am back to square one and must do it all over again. In the midst of this, there is no allowing of saving at any point of the mission. It has to be completely done from start to finish. Actually, I reached level 12 and saved nine people. Then suddenly, I flipped the ambulance over not because I wasn't paying attention but my thumb literally got tired. Of course, my mind got numbed, and I grew frustrated at the idea of doing it again. I understand that those missions along with cab, fire, and cop are to familiarize myself with the geography of each island. My suggestion to improve the game play, why not just have 20 cab missions on one island, 20 fire the second island, and 20 cop for third island? Maybe ten levels of ambulance are okay and allow me to begin at the highest level possible where I screwed up. Whenever I am doing something on each island, ninety percent of the time my thumb is constantly on the X button. It gets sore after a while. The tedious driving around and going from point A to point B can be thought of preliminary stages of Alzheimer's. It's no fun. As for the real missions, they are all right for RPG but nothing special. The storyline is ridiculous at best; why not get the main character to make a name for himself as he rises to the top as Mafia hood boss or something? Speaking of the protagonist, who is he? What is his name? What does he really look like? What can he do? What is he interested in? The statistics are helpful, but must I know how many inches of rain fell, or total people wasted, or weight of explosives used, or total amount of money paid by cops? When I pointed out limitedness of freedom, mainly I have objectives that I must complete and when I am in midst of them, I feel the rigidity that I must follow this way and no other way. The game is not actually hard to beat, but it's not that easy either. All in all, Grand Theft Auto III is full of cycles repeated to death until 100% completion is reached. When that is accomplished, is there a sense of satisfaction? Not really. And no, I still can't fly the freaking Dodo (and it's not even necessary either...what a waste of intrigue.)
"This game is a microcosm of society's ills...", I must confess that I am NOT an avid gamer, just your typical middle-aged suburban dad. I picked up one of these games just to see what all the hype was about. What I discovered is that, in terms of graphics, detail, plot twists, etc. this game is fantastic. However, the subject matter is pretty grim, and it is unfortunate that the game even exists in this form.
The game should simply be called "Scumbag", because what it really does is offer the player a glimpse into what life would be like if you were a person with absolutely no redeeming qualities what-so-ever. Whenever you need a ride, just steal someone's car! Whenever you're low on cash, just beat up a prostitute and take her money! The plot is basically a downward spiral whereby the lead character is rewarded for committing ever more violent and heinous acts against society at large.
In real life, a person such as this would ultimately be found face down in the muck of some deserted alley with no vital signs, or fried in the electric chair, or shanked to death with a toothbrush by one of the inmates at some state-run facility. Yet somehow, in this game, the lead character miraculously emerges from the hospital and/or police station time and again so that he can go on perpetrating his misdeeds.
When I first began to play it, I was shocked and uncomfortable so I laughed. As time passed, and I realized that there were no family or friends to be had, and no negotiation involved in accomplishing the game's objectives (strictly violence), I began to feel a sense of nausea. I finally had to shut it off. It's been two weeks since I looked at this, and the images and dialogue are still in my head. Therein lies the real danger...
I think that teens simply don't realize that you have to be careful about what you put into your own mind. You have to watch your intellectual diet at least as much as your physical diet, perhaps more. The reason is because thoughts and words ultimately become deeds, and then you've conditioned yourself to become a person that no one should ever aspire to being. Playing this game is tantamount to poisoning yourself.
I'll recover from this experience because I'm an adult, and I know the difference between right and wrong. But there is no question in my mind that this game is dangerous for ANYONE who comes into contact with it (esp. children and teens). I have no specific knowledge about other versions of the game, but I can't imagine that they are much different. Avoid this at all costs. Forget "virtual" experiences and try having real-life experiences with friends and family instead.
"its ok...but its missing a lot", i got this game when it originally came out and it was a good time, i had a blast with the free roaming ability, however there are things that get tiresome and more noticeable especially after playing vice city and san andreas - negatives to me are: repetitive soundtrack after awhile, character has no personality, the twist in the middle of the game that makes you change allegiances, the mission to kill a certain mafia boss that forces you to be precise with a one bullet sniper shot otherwise ur dead takes the fun out of the mission...i should be able to stand on the corner and just blaze with armor on and see what happens using my machine gun and grenades, the handling of the cars is rough at times and they blow up too easily...i could go on, but the story just doesn't impress me...its a lot of fun to roam but the story does little to make me want to continue pass the plot twist
"Ambitious", This game is just pure fun. If you want to, you can follow the story line which is fantastic by the way, or you can run wild doing whatever you want. If you're bored a fun thing to do is see how long you can outrun the police. There's so much hidden stuff in this game to add to the fun and make it feel more special. Who can forget spawning a tank, then turning the turret around to propel it over the bridge to the next zone that you really haven't unlocked yet? The list goes on and on with things to do. The story is interesting with many plot twists and psychotic missions. At the same time, they start you out small to make you feel like you're really progressing through the crime world. The music is great, and the radio channels are hilarious. There is some good humor throughout the game. The only negatives are the graphics, which are forgivable considering the scope of the game, and the difficulty. The difficulty curve is a bit on the harsh side once you move on to the second island and join up with the Yakuza. Especially the missions titled "Grand Theft Auto" Those are nearly impossible at times, as ironic as that sounds. Simply a great game, if you haven't checked it out yet, you should.
"Shipment and Quality of Product.", The game came in time promised and great and new condition. A+++ A Pleasure to do business with.

"GTA 3 is really FUN!", There is lots of action like in every GTA game and the voice acting is good like in every game. The missions are always fun and interesting to play. GTA 3 is one of the best games made for PS2 along with San Andreas and Vice City. GTA 4 is gonna be the best game made for Xbox 360 and PS3. I can't wait! It's gonna be AWESOME!!!
"i pretty good game( a 12 year olds review)", i like it it is a pretty good game so i give it about a 4.3 outta 5
"a fun game to play ", a real fun game to play and fast shiping thanks again for that sincerely yours billy
"Its a classic-Yes?", Awww man did this game rock all those years ago, it still rocks today.I nourish the freedom in this game, I really, really do!
It deserves the No.1 place of the best three games of 2001, with Halo in No.2 and Metal Gear Solid 2:Sons of Liberty in No.3.
The three games before GTA3 or Grand Theft Auto III as its officially called were GTA, GTA:London '69 and GTA, I admit I didn't like any of them, because they were 2D boo hiss
In GTA3 you are introduced for the very first time to Liberty City where your guy has been set up in a Bank robbery and arrested and must work his way up the crime ladder in order to get revenge on his ex-girlfriend, he luckily escapes because a bomb exploded while his convoy was halted by Comombian gangsters and luckily him and another man survives, 8-Ball he has you drive him to a safehouse and then introduces you to a member of the Italian-American Mafia(Leone Family) who owns a club called SC7 and you basically work your way from there.
Liberty City is a city that is made up of three islands all of which are corrupt in its own way, Portland a poor industrial island with no decent cars with the exception of the gangs, most of the residents here are homeless living under bridges and roaming the streets gazed. This is your first island and there are three gangs, the Chinese LC Triads who own a fishing buisness, the Leone Families who own mansions and Italian resturaunts, and the Diablo street gangstas who roam the streets in modded Stallion cars and use baseball bats as weapons
Then theres Staunton island, richer than Portland but has its fair share of corruption and homeless ness, there are three gangs that roam Staunton, Comlombian Cartel with powerful bluE 4x4s, Japanese Yakuza and the Yardies
And finally theres Shoreside Vale, the rich place with rich gangs, its got the Liberty Airport where you can catch your flight.
You don't get many weapons but here the list:
.45 caliber pistol, Mini Uzi, AK-47, M16, Stinger rocket launcher, flamethrower, grenades, Molotov petrol bombs and sniper rifles.
Since you could pretty much anything you like such as stealing cars and killing people, theres obviously guys that don't appreciate you dooing this, the Police of coarse and they'll be on your tail from when they see you hit someone all the way until you cause enough death and destruction where they'll need the National Guard to stop you.The Police are set out in Six stars:
1 STAR:The Police spot you do something petty like punch someone or steal a car, the nearest officer will come and attack you.
2 STARS:Now they know they aren't dealing with the ordinary, two more officers will arrive armed with .45s shooting at you
3 STARS:More severe, with officers coming from every street and they have deployed a Helicopter to try and stop you
4 STARS:They now have S.W.A.T. units with them, they come in armored vans and are armed with Uzi SMG's, they are a lot more forceful than normal Police grunts seeing as they are a para-military unit.
5 STARS:FBI specialists, armed with AK's these guys arrive in black suave Kuruma's with a mini siren, they will even kill themselves in order to bring you down
6 STARS:You eliminated cops, helicopters SWAT men and FBI agents now they have sent in the National Guard, a brance in the US Military that do the "at home" stuff, they come with big troop carrying trucks and destructive tanks that will destroy anything it touches, so its no good trying to drive away in a car, and if thats not enough they are armed with deadly M16 rifles that will kill you within 3 seconds of you coming within its range.
All in all GTA3 deserves a on-spot rating of 9.0 from me IMO
If you wish to play more sandbox games, here are a handful more:
*GTA:Vice City *GTA:San Andreas *Mercenaries *Just Cause *Saints Row(only on Xbox 360) *DRIV3R *Driver:Parallel Lines
"I thought there could be more.", I thought that there could have been more to some of the story line. I'v been playing GTA Vice City & San Andreais, and like the stoury line. But overall I was pleased with the game.
