"Flexibility is key", I've had my headset for three months now and I have to say this is the best headset I have every owned. The flexibility offered with the hinged folding feature of this headset makes it unbeatably comfortable and durable for all sizes and shapes.

I put this headset through its paces. I use it for transcription work from audio tapes. I also use it for dictations with Dragon Naturally Speaking. I've also been known to fall asleep wearing it while listening to music in bed only to wake in the morning still wearing it. Lately I've been using it to make calls to people all over the world using Skype.

The sound and recording quality is unbeatable and I really like the adjustable volume control on the headset cable. Speaking of the cable, that extra long cable gives you a lot of mobility to move around the desk while talking.

Needless to say, I wear this headset for many hours of the day. It's so comfortable that I've forgotten I was wearing it a few times when I stood up to walk away from my PC and had it yanked from my head! With other headsets they'd be broken or bent out of shape by now from falling asleep while wearing them. Not this one. The built in hinges in the middle of the headset and on each ear piece make it very forgiving.

My only complaint, and it is one I have with all headsets, is that in warm weather when your head tends to perspire, the earpiece coverings don't hold up well to the moisture. That's easily remedied with replaceable covers though.


"Plantronics DSP-400 USB Foldable Stereo Headset", Beware of the advertisement. It came without a USB connection and I sent it back.

"Very good quality but not as convinient as a wireless", This headset is a great quality product. Easy to reach volume commands, clear sound, including when I listen to music. I just realized after using it a lot with Skype that a wireless one would be much more convenient for me.


"Dont trust them!!!!!!!!", They never delivered the product, so be careful of these guys to come through if buy from them

"Less Than I Expected", I purchased this headset about nine months ago after reading all the largely positive reviews. This headset is used primarily for voice recognition dictation with Nuance Naturally Speaking 9.0. First, I was put off by the very long cord and the large audio processing unit on it. Then, I felt the folding headset to be pretty rinky dink and too fragile for traveling. But, I rationalized that surely the digital enhancement would greatly improve the voice recognition leading to reduced typing errors and justifying this purchase. After several months of retraining the software to the new device, I returned to using the "el cheapo" headset I initially received from Nuance, which produces far fewer typing errors.

"Great Sound Quality", I use this headset primarily for VoIP (Skype, etc.) and found it to have great sound quality, at least for those purposes. It's comfortable for people with big heads, doesn't require additional drivers, has easily adjustable volume controls, and fits its purpose very well.


"Excellent quality - questionable design", First the good news. This is a very high quality headset, for desktops. Voice quality is excellent. I've used it for Skype, Dragon and for voice overs on instructional videos. The microphone is clear, the noise canceling works well and it outputs good volume. I don't know if it has the range for singing but for spoken word it's great. The inline mute switch is a nice extra.

The headphones are also of good quality, easily the match of any headset in the price range, even those that lack mics. They are comfortable for extended wearing and seem reasonably durable.

The bad news comes if you want to travel with the headset. It is bulky, somewhat heavy for a folding set and the box on the end of the cord is rather large, though not as heavy as it looks.

I wonder what the designers were thinking. The ability to fold would lead me to think that this was designed for portability but the bulkiness and weight are a bit high, but not terrible, for that purpose.

Still, I'm very happy with the headset and can live with the bulk for the few times I need to take it out of the office.



"Works well, sounds good.", This works well and sounds good. It's a little uncomfortable to wear for four hours or more, though.

"Plantronix software no longer provided or available.", First of all, Plantronix no longer provides the advertised software CD with the headphones in the box. Instead, they instruct you to download the "PerSono" software from their internet site. However, the download link provided is no longer valid! When I contacted Plantronix, they were unsympathetic and simply told me that "the product is no longer supported, so there is no software available!" He then explained that the headset could be installed (PnP), and would BASICALLY function without the software. This proved to be true; however, the in-line volume control does not function.

"Plantronics DSP-400", I am starting a call center using VOIP technology. Two of the headsets I purchased did not work out of the box. A third headset received audio from one ear only. I do however like the ease of access of the volume and mute control. I would not suggest using these in a space with more than a few agents. Clients can not hear the call. We switched to the Audio DSP 400 without the audio interface and this set seems to perform better.
